Hurricane Katrina: Notable Quotes:

~DAN OF RIEHL WORLD VIEW ~
~ Caused the hurricane !! Yep , he did it.

---------------------------------------------
What the heck Dan, Every one else is getting blamed, might as well add you to list just for fun. :O)

"What the American people have seen is this incredible disparity in
which those people who had cars and money got out and those people
who were impoverished died." ---Teddy Kennedy (D-Chappaquiddick),
unwittingly reminding us of Mary Jo Kopechne's fate.

I had a personal miracle. Friend lost since beginning of Katrina is alive and well and wants hot bubble bath and fresh coffee. She said that Country Girls without utilites amd water and communications do better tha City Slickers in Mississippi. I pray that Natalee is our next miracle.

Ny glad your friend is safe and sound

Last night on Greta's show Dr. Baden said the water in NO is NOT dangerous. Only if you drink it. If that is true why is other fox shows keep talking about all the toxics and why the people have to leave and why others can't go back. I hope someone can get some accurate information on this subject.
Thanks,tk

Did he say how many samples he'd done in his lab? Maybe his feet are too dry?

If those people who refuse to leave, then they should sign a release that they will be responsible for themselves. How and why anyone would want to stay there are smell the filth and stench I have no clue.

LOL Cindi, that is THE priceless post of RWV.

NYMom, Awesome news! Just proves miracles do happen!!

oops -- that's the tagline for the entire administration, one faux pas after another. my level of disgust is reaching new depths. our country heads closer and closer to third word status with the incompetence and nepotism that characterizes the imbecilic bush administration.

BUSH IS A DECENT AND MORAL MAN !!

Go blow your smoke up someone elses butt peggy !!
People just like you is what is wrong with America !!!

Bush did the right thing in replacing "Brownie". Both the dems and repubs make crony appointments of incompetant boobs to important positions... it's disgusting.

"If Sen. Mary Landrieu were as good at busing black people to safety as she was at busing them to the polls to vote, none of them would have died."

I don'tknow why Greta gives Dr. Baden air time. I put no stock in anything he says. In a book about Alex Kelly {the rapist who fled to Europe} Baden testified for the defense, under oath, that "during sex, there's always bruising and scratchmarks." I had to read it three times to make sure I was reading what I thought I was reading. I wouldn'thave known it was him as I read, but I saw him on TV so much when Greta was covering Natalee. I switched to MSNBC whenever he came on. Did anyone else read the book? I can't remember the name of it, but it had been out for a few years.

Where's the Nagin and Blanco quotes!! Hmm - one sided? How about "Just Leave!!" from Blanco when people who couldn't leave in the first place - now they can make it through the water too. Thanks Dan! She wanted everyone out until Nagin said he was going to "force evacuate" - THEN - "she" decides people can stay. I've never seen so many games. The blocking of aid from the Red Cross and desire for Federal aid then not allowing the Feds to come in and take over?!?! Seems like the slowness of this all came from BLANCO more than anyone!

chrys, I agree 100 %, Then I heard what she had to say on TV the other day and I was fuming then.
SOMETHING LIKE "THE GOVERNOR (AND THAT WOULD BE ME)she says.
Sounds like a power stuggle on her part to me.
Then there is the Levee board. Buying jets, casinos, investing in the market and so on.

You can bet it will all come out in the wash. Too bad folks had to die because of it !!

DAMN I AM MAD AS HELL !!

"What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality. ? And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this is working very well for them."

-- Former first lady Barbara Bush about Katrina evacuees housed in the Houston Astrodome

"Clearly the FEMA response has been slow. We got a lot of good people on the ground here that are with FEMA and with the state agencies. They wear their badges, and they look good. But unfortunately, we just not have seen all the assets and all the resources that we need in our city."

Matthew Avara, mayor of Pascagoula, Mississippi

"We think that the best use of our staff resources is going to be getting people assistance through direct deposit or mail them a check," FEMA spokesman Ed Conley said.

I can say this ,houston will be sorry, it got the lowest of lowest pople in Louisiana .they make it look good on tv.Houston thanks for takeing them, please keep em.WHORAWWWWWWWWW

"... I went to Florida a few days after President Bush did to observe the damage from Hurricane Andrew. I had dealt with a lot of natural disasters as governor, including floods, droughts, and tornadoes, but I had never seen anything like this. I was surprised to hear complaints from both local officials and residents about how the Federal Emergency
Management Agency was handling the aftermath of the hurricane. Traditionally, the job of FEMA director was given to a political supporter of the President who wanted some plum position but who had no experience with emergencies. I made a mental note to avoid that mistake if I won. Voters don't chose a President based on how he'll handle disasters, but if they're faced with one themselves, it quickly becomes the most important issue in their lives."

-Bill Clinton, My Life (p. 428)

James Lee Witt was the FEMA director when Clinton was President. In 1992, prior to Witt taking over, an interim Congressional report stated, "FEMA is widely viewed as a political dumping ground, a turkey farm, if you will". By 1996, the Atlanta Journal Constitution had this to say about him in an editorial: "FEMA has developed a sterling reputation for delivering disaster-relief services, a far cry from its abysmal standing before James Lee Witt took its helm in 1993. How did Witt turn FEMA around so quickly? Well, he is the first director of the agency to have emergency-management experience. He stopped the staffing of the agency by political patronage. He removed layers of bureaucracy. Most important, he instilled in the agency a spirit of preparedness, of service to the customer, of willingness to listen to ideas of local and state officials to make the system work better."

“If one person criticizes [the local authorities’ relief efforts] or says one more thing, including the president of the United States, he will hear from me. One more word about it after this show airs, and I…I might likely have to punch him, literally.” —Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) on This Week with George Stephanopoulous

This quote's pretty funny too, Dan. LOL

After not taking her calls on day one, she had to leave a message with an WH aide. Now that's good governance. Maybe she and Pat "Chavez killer" R. should share a cell in Gitmo for awhile, for their terrorist threats.
