» Heh... from Villainous Company
I'll say this for the Shrub. He can keep a secret... Karen darlin', I was pulling for you. She's going to get chewed up and spit out by the confirmation committee. Interesting background info.(via RedState) Not sure that it means... [Read More]

Help me out here Republicans....
Isn't she the one who is the President's "personal advisor"? If so, hasn't he said that "he does whatever she tells me too?" I'm loosely paraphrasing but is this the same woman? She left her family for two years to go to Washington.......
Or someone else. I'm confused.

Betty,
I think you have Miers confused with Karen Hughes.

You know it's a float that won't be the final candidate. Just something to throw the press off.

I am not too impressed with her

Her credentials are not strong enough. The courts are the one arena in which Bush has made strong appointments. This is no time to retreat from that.

True Dennis, and I hope Prez.Bush does no feel he needs to replace O'Connor with another female just for the sake of it. I am not that aware of Miers, and not a whole lot out there on her.

DennisAOK: I agree, this does not seem like a serious Bush nominee at all. Where are her credentials? I think it is a piece of misdirection.

Looks like you kids are wrong. She was JUST named as the nominee.
Heh. Foot in mouth, maybe?
Let's see what happens...

I think that her nomination is still misdirection.

Dan, you're scaring me again... :)

I would hope for a Supreme Court Justice with more judicial experience, not to mention better judgment regarding her assessment of the intellect of a close friend: according to an article in Salon Magazine, October 3, 2005, Miers has called President Bush "the most brilliant man I have ever met."
If she really believes that, she has either met an incredibly limited set of men, or else she's not qualified to serve on the Court.

I do not agree with Pres. Bushs' nomination of Harriet Miers. She stands up for big corporations and not for the liberties and freedoms of the people. If you're for corporate domination, minimization of privacy, and for hacking down our civil rights, then she might just be the person for you.
Otherwise, I believe we need someone with judicial expierience as a judge who will also uphold the constitutional rights of the people instead of the rich and powerful.

Okay. Harriet Miers has never even been a judge. She was bush's personal lawyer and now is serving as white house counsel. How can she even be considered for this position? This is crazy that we even have to have this debate. Checks and balances people. How can we have checks and balaces if the executive branch is capable of controlling the judicary. If she is confirmed we are in deep crap. Corporations, not people, are going to reap the benifits of this nomination.
