Accused of changing the rationale for 'his' war, and hounded for mismanaging it. Derided as an uninspiring public speaker. Belittled as an idiot. Blamed for dividing the nation. Charged with incompetence in his administration. Accused of trampling on the Constitution. Engaged in censorship and manipulation of the press. Mockingly compared with lower primates. Hmmmm Dan,
This is a tough one. I'm with you 100% on your views, but I don't want this blog to turn into a battleground. But, if it does turn into a battleground, it could be interesting!

I think that people need to put more confidence in the president. We don't know all that he knows. We voted him into office and if he is so terrible isn't that a reflection on the American people. When other countries see the way we act towarda our president they probably think we are a bunch of fools.

Like I said - just make sure you read the rest.

same play new characters--hmm how much we've changed-

I think and hope we can discuss this without turning it into a battleground! I have to admit I'm not a fan of George Bush, but I'd like to talk with some people who are and try to get a broader perspective on the man. The concerns I have are:
1. Changing the rationale for the war.
2. The links to Halliburton, Enron, and the Carlyle Group.
If anyone would like to give their opinions on these things I would appreciate it. Thank you.

And think about this.
Once full-blown Civil War breaks out in Iraq thanks to Bush's policy, the comparison with Lincoln will be even easier to make.

Chris Leonard do not go away. The difficulty with getting non-Natalee dialogue going here is how quickly the threads turn over and disappear.
We either need an Iraq War thread that is continuous or use the Open thread. Use the Open thread and have to ignore the catcalls.
I'm not interested in Bush's change of rationale because it is over and we need to be more goal oriented as in what can we do to make a difference.
But it's Katrina's day.

What does sound familiar is the air of desperation.

Dan, are you fanning the flames?

the difference is, of course, is that history vindicated Mr. Lincoln and will not vindicate Mr. Bush. Better comparisons might be made to Hoover or Nixon.

O-U-T-S-T-A-N-D-I-N-G!!
Oh how often, moreover, quickly Americans forget! If nothing else this attitude in American's is what sickens me the most. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm an American too, as most of you regulars know.
We live in a conveience oriented society; quick, rush up to 7/11! No one is really ready or willing to stick it out. This is one the main reasons that the Holloway case has the following that it does: There are parents, step-parents, aunties and uncles, families, and a host of great bloggers out there who don't want "it to go away..." I love it when our troops say, hey we got a job to do, can't leave until we've done it.
But as far as my rant is concerned, I was just reading this morning (off-topic) about "helicopter parents" the notion that they hover over their kids whilst in college. Well, do what you've got to do, but the prof's are off limits as are grades folks.

Junior Bush is the worst president this country has had since, wait let me think, his father.
I want a scintilla of exidence that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction. I don't mean a bomb, not even guidance device. Show me one sentence in a single captured document to support Junior's claim that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. If that country did then I tend to believe that the hold outs would be using them rather than hand made land mines.
In the least Junior Bush is a liar and/or ignorant. I tend to believe the "and" part.
Junior Bush led our country to war for two reasons. 1) Because neo-conservatives convinced him to send American boys to die invading Iraq, Iran and Syria in order to ensure the security of Israel. Israel, of course, has the highest loyalty of neo-conservatives, not the United States of America. 2) Because he thought his father made a mistake by not deposing Saddam (or however you want to spell it) and he wanted to vindicate the family name. I wish he would have just gone to Brooks Brothers and bought Senior a tie for Father's Day.
Invading Iraq is the dumbest thing this country has ever done. It is going to bankrupt this nation, cost thousands of more lives and destroy us as a world power.
I'm ready. Go ahead and blast me. I want to hear it from all you under-40 chicken hawks who buy suits from Joseph A. Banks (because you cannot afford Brooks Brothers) and who got closest to military service by joining a Boy Scout troop, which you quit before making Eagle.
