Aruba Leader Assures Holloway's Mother Probe Won't End.
ORANJESTAD, Aruba -- Aruba's prime minister met Saturday with the mother of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway, assuring her that investigators would not stop looking for answers about her daughter's disappearance from the Dutch Caribbean island. Beth Holloway Twitty expressed concerns that the probe, which has produced no trace of 18-year-old Natalee after nearly three months, would fizzle. Aruba Prime Minister Nelson Oduber told reporters that he gave Natalee's mother his guarantee that, as prime minister, "We will continue looking for what happened."

And after the elections we might have some answers.

Just wanted to be second... I hope everyone has a great day/week and that we might finally have some resolution to this matter. God bless Natalee Holloway, Amy Bradley, their families, and all those concerned with this matter...

After the elections, Oduber will no longer be in charge.

Wow..."no trace"...

If Ouduber will no longer be in charge will Ruben be gone as well?

Do not be discouraged. Rueben is still on Tickle.

Oh Silkee....I don't trust Ruben as far as I can throw him. I think he is "all about himself". Actually, I hope he goes!

Sorry to disappoint you, polls show that Oduber's party still has the 56% of votes, followed by AVP with 27%.
Yeah, Ruben will still be in his position for the next 4 years.
Funfact about Ruben: He was a rock singer in a band. News reporter, then news anchor.

I like Ruben. He has a tough job but seems honest.

Yeah right like they will continue the probe. They have done everything to drag this out, in classic lawyer cover-up fashion. Anyone who has been a victim of one of these cover-ups know how the game is played and can blatantly see how it was played here from day one.
They are just waiting for the cameras to leave the island and then they will seal this one up...release the perp...and state they have no case. Case closed.
Nice fumble Aruba....but I'm not buying it and I am never traveling to Aruba.

Still formal acknowledgement that there was a problem may help the Holloway's begin the process of coming to terms with their distress and grief.
If you don't feel heard in a situation like this all that is left to feel is rage, discouragement and bitterness. That rage keeps the accusations flying and fuels suspicions of a cover-up (not only among the Holloway-Twitty family, but also among their supporters. This formal acknowledgment of a problem is a way for Aruban authorities to BEGIN making amends and begin making a commitment to actions that will improve tourist safety and the chance for well conducted investigation when a crime has been committed.

You guys missed the crucial point here. It's not important that the PM of Aruba pledged to continue the probe - any leader would say that to not make his country look bad.
What's impressive and will have a bigger effect is Beth Holloway's pledge to remain in Aruba "for as long as it takes" and to keep this story in the spotlight "for the next 40 years if needed", as she made on the news last night and to the PH personally. That commitment is what should scare the Arubian people and government. This woman will not go away so they'll have to give her what she wants at some point.

The likes of you better stay put in minnesota.

Dad have no fear. Roy is one of those go along kind of posters. You know they type, let me hang on your zipper kind of guys. He has a problem with me also. As I see it, folks with nothing to say will often follow the leader.

Andrea - yes that story is familiar and sounds like elements of it are similar to this one.
I have to wonder why anyone would go to a bar or club anymore. It is downright frightening what can happen!
Did you notice that the young Smith bride was also heing hit on on the ship by one of the employees of the ship (he was fondling her) and she was so out of it that it took her a while to realize it wasn't her husband. When she asked her husband to do something about it and he didn't she "kneed" him and left (bouncing off the walls)? No rape test was ever done on her but many think she could have been given daterape drug by this shipmate and that is one of the reasons why she doesn't know what happened that night. It is so tragic.

dad, I'm not Oduber,
But with your remark about not traveling to Aruba you drag this Blog back in time. At a certain moment it was even unclear whether people were more interested in Natalee and her family or in bashing Aruba.
Stating that grave mistakes were made during the investigation is correct but going back to that ridiculous Aruba boycott idea is not a productive contribution.

sorry but I think Ruben's as smarmy as they come. Next to Tito, that is. Yuk for both of them.

A.K.A. - THE CASE WAS BOTCHED!!!!!!
Absolutely true!
But the healing process has to start somewhere for both sides. If the prime minister isn't sincere I think that will become evident fairly soon. Then the Arubans and HTs can take it from there and start slugging away again.
Natalee was a rare treasure, demonstrating her investment in making lives better for others through her volunteer work and plans to go to medical school.
But it takes a great deal of energy to hold onto that rage about her disappearance forever. And that rage, which is an understandably normal reaction under the circumstances, seems to be accomplishing very little at this point.
I can't begin to imagine the heartbreak that BHT and family will feel if Natalee is never found and they finally decide it time to leave Aruba.
People talk about BHT as if she has already gone through her grief process. I don't think she has begun it at all.
Basically, underneath that rage that fuels her to spur on rescue and recovery efforts is a bottomless pit of grief. As soon as she lays down her sword (and she has been a champion fighter on her daughter's behalf)then she's got to face what is probably going to be overwhelming grief. Better to keep up the fight than connect with the powerlessness and despair! You don't "get over" that kind of grief. You cope with it, manage it, but it will always be background noise in your head. Look at John Walsh - 20 years later he still tears up on TV when he talks about the loss of his son. In those moments I'm sure the wave of grief that hits is as strong as it was at the traumatic realization of his son's death.
Posted by: Sky007 aka Noplans | Monday, August 22, 2005 at 07:23 PM
well said sky007 each mother deals with her grief in her own way, right or wrong. be it BHT or CS. we cannot condem them until we have stood in their shoes.

Cindi, your opinion about me is quite unimportant.
My views on the Natalee case I gave long time ago on this blog. Now I only react to certain idiots who tend to stray off topic or who tend to forget that the essence here is Natalee and hoping for a decent closure.
Can you grasp that?
Posted by: Roy | Monday, August 22, 2005 at 11:57 PM
I will be going to Aruba.
Why would I not go?
Good lord, otherwise I couldn't travel "anywhere" if I looked for blotched cases.
I would have to leave my own state...my own town in fact.
Not to go is crazy!!
