ARUBA – A manifestation is planned for this coming Thursday against the way in which the American TV stations CNN and FOX are portraying Aruba in their programmes. The organizers get annoyed at the unfounded negative news coverage and want to express this peacefully.
They are now waiting for the permit and as soon as they get that, a group of concerned citizens will gather on the Plaza Betico Croes on Thursday at 18:00. Special attention will be paid to the way above-mentioned media deals with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. The manifestation will be peaceful and the Parliament will be asked to do everything in their power to end this spate of negative reports. Chairman of Parliament Marlon Werleman will probably be present to officially receive the request. Interested parties are asked to come with Aruban flags.
MSNBC has an overview of the investigation.
VAN ZANDT: ... this guy. As far as the way he would manipulate her. He met her a couple of days in advance but again, the chance that he has to go away, to take her up to the light house or something, this was the last night she was leaving. Dan, it‘s my gut opinion. You know sometimes you‘ve got to go on your gut shot on this...
That's an interesting bit of information - if true, it confirms something I was told. And Natalee's Grandmother is in Aruba.
I'm not from the South, but that somehow reminds me of a joke I heard years ago. During the Civil War there was a Union regiment marching past a hill. Some old Rebel came out up and top and started yelling, "Hey, Yankees, come on up here and git me if you can!"
So one guy walked up, chased the old guy down the other side of the hill ... never came back.
Next thing you know three soldiers broke ranks started up over the hill ... 20 minutes went by ... never came back. Then a full squad. Same result.
Well, the Commander figured out by then it was a trap. "Charge," he yelled and the entire Regiment bore down and broke for the top of the hill. Lucky for them, just about 30 yards from the top, one worn out half-walking Yankee came up top from the other side, yelled, "Go back! Go back,! Hell, there's two of them up here! ; )
One can hope ... light a candle for Natalee.

What ever happened to that arm that washed up on shore in Venezula? I heard they were DNA testing it to see if it was Natalee...

When I was a boy one of the favorite tactics of my friends and myself was to come up with different stories so parents would not know who or what to believe. I can see Joran doing the same. Here he is a 17 now 18 year old boy afraid out of his wits to say anything. We all know how the police pressure someone to get them to say something that is often twisted into a false statement. I have faith that the truth will come out but may not for a time and ultimatel in court if a trial is held. Now there is a lack of evidence that makes a trial unlikely and I believe Joran will walk. As for his dad, well his dad is a lawyer and Joran has a right to ask of any lawyer of his choice. I also think there has been an enormous amount of guessing and conjecture that makes Joran look bad. Again, we do not know what hard evidence is held by the Crown so we can not judge him in fairness. There is constant talk of a coveruo by the Aruba system. If you look at the facts the crown and Beth have had pretty much their way in the courts. Please let us get objective.

The United States of America is 50 states with 300-MILLION-Plus residents, legal and illegal. Recent estimates by Census are about 290-MILLION legal citizens plus perhaps 30-MILLION more unregistered or illegal residents.
That's a total of approximately 320-MILLION people in the USA...compared to only about 90,000 people on tiny Aruba.
There are more than 3,500 Americans for every Aruban resident.
Aruba is smaller in land area and population than any of the top 100 individual American cities.
So, when comparing statistics, please remember you are comparing a gnat to a camel.

Rb. sorry i read it was Aruba, I will stand to be corrected at any time....Sorry if I am wrong. Its only what I read. I am not here ot bash aruba or the USA I was saying earlier the differeces between the 2 countries , population wise, there is absolutly no comparison. Theres far to many people living in the usa so therefore there is going to be alot more crime...ther eis crime everywhere....I also never said that it was oly americans who went to Aruba, I said it was their playgorund, as in it is a place where people go to get away from every day life and have a nice vacation...but arubas main income is from the USA and the money they bring to the island becasue it is amercans who frequent the isalnd more hten any other nation in the qorls...its a very very tragice case...if only natalle was found then all this hate and country bashing could go away and we could get on with life... I pray that it comes to an end soon...

I find this doubtful, but,if it is so I am sure she has to have some occasional relief from all she is going through, or the continous stress would kill her.

I am from the United States
and I think Beth Twitty needs
to hush and come home. She is
tainting the prosecution's case,
IF they have one.

Oke,some people are mad at me but I did not say that all Americans are sick,I was talking about this serial killer and what he did to his victems!! By growing up in Aruba i was always on the beach, having fun and talking to tourists.I always liked you guys very much.So different from dutch people or arubans but nice people! For me its sad to see some negative postings here on the blog about Aruba.
I hope this case will be solved,I feel so bad for the parents,I really really do.
And why did this happen on my island,I just want to go back to may28 when everything was normal, people enjoying the island and their nice sweet people you know...

Hi Esther
I feel for you. I know
it must be hard on you
to hear such negative
things. Try not to let
it bother you. Do like
I do with negative comments
let it go in one ear and out
the other as a LOOSE MOUTH COMES

May God bless you

Miss Aruba -
You have only to thank the Dutch boy for this and the Kalpoe Bros. they seemed to think that its quite amusing not to tell the truth. I would be totally protesting if I was an Aruban. The fact that the entire investigation messed up speaks for itself and to arrest 2 security guards that had nothing to do with it well do the math its quite appalling to say the least. You should gather all your fellow Arubans and protest in front of the police. Thank them for the bad publicity.

Justicelady - Should Beth Holloway Twitty "hush" and come home, this would sure to be a "cold case" file. In fact, the only reason this case is still being investigated is because of her. Period. She is one tenacious mother. As an American, I am proud of her.

Anyone know how yesterdays planned Aruba protest anainst Fox, CNN and the American media went? How many protesters this time? When they protested Natalee's mother there were 200. Next year they will likely protest the lack of tourists. One of the highest standards of living in the caribbean and an unemployment rate of just 1.9% (compared to 5% in the U S), ecomomy based on tourism, 70% of which comes from the U S, you would think they would get it. DUH. The authorities won't even pay to search the dump (authorities in Salt Lake City certainly paid to search for Lori hacking) They just want this to go away.

Aruba will probably be a good investment in 5 - 7 years when the economy hits bottom (if you can deal with the stigma)

Sorry if I’m coming in a bit late and you folks have bashed it out enough, however:
What seems odd to me is why one would assume the identity of an entire nation. I think it is fairly clear that there is an element amongst the inner circles in Aruba that is none to ethical. I further realize that Aruba is NOT one person; therefore I ask that those who have identities oh, say like scubajap, Melody, and the other folks from Aruba I have had the pleasure of meeting through this medium, don’t take it personally. I know the Americans have controversy with their government officals just about daily.
Be an individual and realize that people from other nations are NOT attacking you. In English terms: proper nouns versus collective nouns. You are unique and proper. Aruba is proper insofar as it identifies a place (not people) but it is also collective because it does not refer to any one issue.
So lighten up! No one place on this planet is remotely close to perfect or happy all the time. Any individual who understands the notion of holiday, fun, sun, palm trees, white sandy beaches, and multicolored blue waters should understand that it’s people who make life exotic, full of happiness, and a stay that won’t ever be forgotten. Where I am from we call that “Aloha” translated: From the breath (love) of God.
And if we subscribe to the notion of good v. evil well, let’s just say, “Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.” Any questions?

Paulo,
re: Where I am from we call that “Aloha” translated: From the breath (love) of God.
That is so beautiful. I did not know that even though I have slept on your sandy beaches. A friend received 7 free plane tickets and invited six people who did not know each other. We were young and adventurious. We rented a car and the seven of us took turns sleeping in the car with six sleeping on the beach.
We bonded, laughed, played, and had a great time. All on $20.00 each for a week! The main guy paid the car rental. It was a once in a lifetime experience.
Aloha

I'd love to know what planet the person who said 'beth is drinking and having a good time in her hotel' is from...come on lets get real here, the woman has lost HER CHILD!!! She doesnt know where her child is...so if she smiles and has a drink in her hand at the end of the evening, let her do it...she is up all day looking for her child asking questions. Most parents at this stage would have gone home and given up. Whoever wrote that must either be a heartless man or a woman who does not have any kids of her own to say express a stupid comment like that.
Miss ARUBA. it must be hard for you to hear all the bashing towards Aruba. I would hate if people said that about my country and people just because of one person (and joran is not even aruban nor the kalpoes!!) It is just frustrating that Natalee cannot be found on such a tiny island where it was deemed as paradise and safe before this happend.

I agree with you even though I support Beth and Dave in their search. Holloway and Twitty families complain about the prosecutor not wanting to talk to them about the case. But, they are continuously on television divulging bits and pieces about the case. A smart prosecutor is only going to divulge what she wants to them know at this time because she cannot put her case at risk. Karin Janssen might be playing it safe with the Holloway and Twitty families, throwing them a bone every so often. Karin Janssen may or may not have case, but nobody knows for sure, and what deck of cards she is really holding.
She was out at one of the search sites, and told the searchers to go back and dig under a dead dog that they have found buried earlier. It never crossed the minds of the searchers to dig under the dog. The burial of a dead dog can mask the burial of a dead person. This suggested to me that she is a knowledgeable person more so than the commentaries give her credit for, and showing up at the search site is good gesture on her part that she wants Natalee found. The reason why Aruban authorities is not putting in any effort into the searching the garbage dump because this witness may not be creditable, and they know this; to what will mount to useless search like draining the pond. The Aruban authorities is not going to tell them not to search the garbage dump, and tarnish their image even more after they run to the media with it.
