Is Greta Van Sustern Selling Out?

Fox host Greta Van Sustern appeared in an update on Bill O'Reilly tonight and referenced two witnesses who claim the land fill witness is credible. However, she did clearly hedge her bet by saying she hadn't spoken to the witness herself.

She then went on to reference quotes from Natalee's Father, Dave Holloway as regards conditions at the land fill where the search is being conducted - which were reported as extreme, much like any land fill.

In a post here, I pointed out that according to an NBC report, Dave Holloway has spoken to the witness in question and found his account questionable.

The Alabama teen's father said he spoke with the witness and isn't sure the story is believable

Given Fox's ability to research, and Greta's ability to ask Dave Holloway a simple question in this regard, one might wonder if she is reporting things as they are, or as internal Fox ratings watchers want them to appear.

Good one Dennis. That is, or was, the prosecutor though, and not the lead investigator. He apparently retired. My point was that the Furman interview was purposely spun. Too bad (for us, not neccessarily the investigation) everyone on the investigative/prosecutorial side is so tight lipped. All we get is spin from the other side.

This Monday morning quarterbacking is stale. If you're so ticked off b/c Red went to Aruba, blah, blah, blah, then perhaps you should focus on a different story because you're comments now are at the same level of thouht and analysis of some of the trolls who show up here. What a shame.

No I do not think Greta is selling out.... Are you? Your postings the last few days seem to be along the lines of stirring the waters to generate comments and more hits to this site. That would be expected...since you & Fox news both want to be "viewed"...and that's why "we" (the readers/viewers) tune in or log on...checking for "news" aka the latest gossip.

Greta has always annoyed me because she is so fair...sometimes I'd like her to voice an opinion that doesn't cover both sides.

This witness who claims to have seen a woman's body being baried at the dump is not credible. Like the duct tape it's another wild goose chase.

He claims he was close enough to see breasts, blonde hair, and even read the tags on the truck. By the way the police checked out the truck by the liscence plate he gave them and established it was no where the dump.

Now just think about it if he was close enough to see them, wouldn't they be able to see him? I know whenever I dump a body at the landfill I always look around carefull to see if anyone is watching, I just wouldn't want a witness to ruin such a private moment!

Another thing, why does it take nine weeks for this guy to go to the media? Sure he told the police, but with an army of international news media running around Aruba he surely would have told his story before now.
If he actually witnessed this he would have been on Greta's show the next night getting his fifteen minutes of fame!

How can anyone crack on Gretta or Titto or Jossy? They are keeping us informed, educated and bringing Aruba into our homes. How can anyone find anything wrong with them? I just don't get it. It's not like they're all a bunch of idiots that don't know how to do their job. Anyone that says they are can't be playing with a full deck in my opinion. How can any of you say Gretta is fair and balanced, if she was fair and balanced then she would spend the same and EQUAL amount of time wit the accused. This is NOT a judgement but a FACT.

Gretta is so obvoucly wrapped up in Beth Twity, and some of us doubt her motives and her inclination for her daughter.

And before you go FLAMING me, just remember that I am in a group of many. lots and lots of us think Beth/Jug Twity has "other" agnedas here, and have forgotten about what the focus should be.

It's all about Ratings, I can name many many instances where Fox, et;al lead-in with a story that KNEW was False or sensationalized. As an example of the "EquuSearch team trys to get PVD Sloot to except a search of his property"---------"Why would PVD Sloot not except a search has he something to hide?" this is basicly what the lead-in story said last night. from my perspective that "makes" you think the property has NOT beeen searched, when in-fact the VD Sloot perperty has been searched numerous times, even by the FBI. Not One time in that story on Fox did they mention the VD Sloot property ever being searched before the request by EquuSearch. That is my friends is Scurolous Reporting. And they call a show on fox the No-Spin-Zone. You want to talk spin, just watch FOX. They ahd better watch out, conservatives like me will eventually come to ouor senses and recognize when we are being mislead.

fox shame on you for using this case for ratings. And gretta while she might be compassionate, just remember this is NOT the Compassionate hour on TV but Fox News is a NEWS program, we expect Professional reporting not touchy feely non-sense. We can get that on the other networks.

Hmmm...how do we know if Greta has tried unsuccessfully to further interview Paul and Anita? Answer: We don't. Also, traditionally speaking, most reporters don't give equal time to the suspects, on any station. She, unlike anyone else in this case, did interview all sides of the equation.

hey here is a solution re: fox which i do not dislike. change the channel. not all other channels are covering this and if enough people stop watching then their ratings will dip and they will have to stop.

i lived within a 1/2 mile radiu of john and revea walsh and my next door neighbor's child was in adam's class. believe you me there were things in that community---even in the paper that were well known about them in the early 80's that i have no need to rehash.

look to the future, as in today, mr walsh has done a 180 and helped a lot of people accept he "still doesn't know who took adam" (in other words there i know but if i tell you it takes away from some of my mystique). that is all i will say.

Her actins should speak for itself, compare Dave Holloway to Beth Twity. Dave is out searching the dump the eastern shore, the water, the land the everywhere, while Beth is on TV. And I might add her TV presence is NOT helping Win the Islanders to her cause. It is not 1 singge issue but many, many. Dave Holloway on the other hand is a rock, and is a class act. He has not once made a glaring error. I respect Dave Holloway, Beth Twity I do not. Makes one wonder about "other things", but that's none of my business.

I don't understand what has been so wrong in her actions, she may have made some mistakes, but she has had much more exposure than Dave overall, so there has been more to take pot shots at about her. I too am a Birmingham resident, and I know about the families as well. You doubt Beth's Christianity? Or think she thinks of Natalee as a possession? Seems to me that if I were going to dump a body from a white truck, I'd change the liscense plates first! Then I'd change them back afterward. And the body was supposed to be in a bag (if this did happen) so nobody was supposed to know it was a body. Likely the dump is only open during daytime hours, so you'd have to go when it was open- sure, people will be there. So you use a bag.

I am just so sad about the whole thing. I can empathize so much with their pain...I look at Beth's face and just see this person dying, begging for someone to find her precious girl and relieve some of this agony for her. I have 3 little girls...so this is so close to my heart. When I read about her sleeping in Natalee's shirt the first few nights at the HI and that she hadn't turned the light off that had been on in that room since Natalee disappeared...Oh wow..that absolutely broke my heart. No way to grasp that kind of suffering unless you've been there. That's what kills me about these judgemental fools that just want to pick Beth apart since they like Dave. I like DAve too!
Why do they have to be so cruel about Beth. I'm sure she has faults...but just because Bdog thinks Dave is a 'class act' he has to downgrade the Twitty's?? They are suffering people...leave them the heck alone!

It is really counter-productive to slander Beth or Dave. Who is to say what you might do as a parent. I would be unglued, unbalanced and ballistic knowing if my beautiful daughter was missing. They are both a class act and have different roles in the investigation. We might take a moment to praise their efforts, instead of denegrating their actions. We all make mistakes. I have total RESPECT for both Beth and Dave. It is a pity that Natalee has not been found. Name calling has never helped anyone. Give it a rest folks and look for the positive. I can't imagine the anguish, frustration, hopes up and down, that are dashed must be doing to them. May a kind and loving Heavenly Father comfort them during this time. I will be saddened should they have to just let it go, just as John Walsh and his wife have had to do with no body of the son Adam. Kindness should be extolled to them both.

I have no familiarity at all with this field but I would assume that this an invention of the US and may not be applicapble to languages other than English.

It may also not be effective on individuals with a heavy accent.
