Interesting News From Aruba - Mebbe

The word on the street is that Beth Twitty confronted Deepak Kalpoe today, possibly in the Internet cafe. The info is sketchy, but has come from two very different sources - one anon, one known and reliable.

There's an additional side line claiming that Greta Van Sustern may have also done the same at some point. That report less clear.

Also, one unqualified source in Aruba is claiming he will file a restraining order tomorrow at 9AM. That piece is completely unconfirmed ... and I'll be watching to see how all of the above plays out, if it does ... same as you. Geesh!

Additionally, there is serious talk behind the scenes that a former girlfriend of Joran Van der Sloot named Melody will do a call in interview near the end of the show on Rita Cosby tonight, via MSNBC - 9PM.

Two sources on that, also - one says 100% - other less certain.

Abrahms usually has a small portion of the show dedicated to the Natalee Holloway case. He had Beth on and questioned her interview with Deepak and she mentioned he said nothing, but that his lawyer advised him NOT to speak to anyone about the case.
Her question to him was: Did you participate in Natalee's sexual assault or did you try to help Natalee out? He wouldn't answer her, neither defend himself in sayint he had nothing to do with harming Natalee. Beth handed something over to him but when questioned by Abrahms as to what it was, she said: I would rather not say right now.

Abrahms noted that Beth was giving her FIRST interview to him after confronting Deepak.

Why would BHT do that just to get more air time? I'd have done the same thing, probably a long time ago. She's not doing this for publicity...she's trying to find her daughter. The so-called "honest, good-natured people of Aruba" have fumbled this investigation from the git-go. I wish she'd have whopped Deepak too, but that would have probably only succeeded in getting her banned from the island. She's not going to do anything to mess up what there is of this off-the-wall investigation.

I saw on NGrace that she offered Deepak 250,000.00 to tell her where Natalee was. He said nothing, just shook.

The repoter she was speaking to, Anastasia ?? spoke to Karin Janssin today, but Nancy cut her off, so I don't know what the prosecutor said.

The guest lawyers including Deb. Opri thought it was a big mistake for Beth to do this as it could damage the case down the line. There was mention of a restraining order.

Regarding Beth confronting Deepak, if my daughter was missing and I wasn't getting and information, I would talk to whoever I thought was involved. I would have restraining orders on me all over the frickin island. These parents are suffering the most tragic loss one can suffer. I lost both my parents at a pretty young age, but I'm sure that is nothing compared to the loss of a child.

Beth and Dave should talk to whoever they can. Their pressure will make these kids break, not the Aruban law enforcement.

In general, I just don't think this type of activism is a good thing for the case. Hard as it may be, a better strategy might be to work through the state department and the FBI.

It's frustrating - but sometimes restraint is the better option, to preserve the process of solving and prosecuting a case.

Rita Cosby used to work for Fox and when it came time for contract renewals a while back they could not come to an agreement. So, she went to work for MSNBC a while back and is just now starting her new job and time slot with them. She was good with Fox and I am sure she will do a great job with MSNBC. I will tune in from time to time as she does have some good shows. Maybe she too, will do some investigative work on the Natalee Hollaway case as well. Any and all help is needed. Hopefully something will an out in the very near future !

I don't believe she suspects she was sexually assaulted. They have statements that say she was sexually assaulted. Again, good for Beth. If it wasn't for her, this whole case would have been swept under the rug. I respect both Dave and Beth for trying to see the suspects. The difference is Beth got through and saw Deepak. How can you fault her for her approach? My God, her daughter is missing, she has no answers, there are a slew of people in Aruba that know what happened to Natalee and they choose not to talk. Several things:
First, if they actually admitted to sexual assault--they would still be in jail with Joran. I don't think a country exists where rape is not a crime.

Second, I can understand WHY Beth is doing what she is doing....but I think it just might come back to bite her. I have to say if it was me, and it was my daughter, then the Kalpoes would have talked by now...and I would probably be in jail--so I understand the emotion, but I think it is a mistake, and I think it could hurt the case in the long run.
