Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else think these personal web sites are dangerous for kids in general? It's like a playground for predators. My own teen argues that it's safe because others can't view her site unless she gives them permission...and I point out that Joran, his brother, Deepak, Satish, Melody, Ruben, Fleur, Abhi, Sara (and all the other pin-up)...etc. DIDN'T give us permission, but we're seeing them in full color.

Deepak doesn't answer BTH questions nor does he declare his innocence or concern. Seems to me Deepak showed a lot of self-control. Now BHT will show the same and let LE do their job! BHT needs her family to reel her in before she does something that's foolish beyond trying to talk to Deepak. The suspects reactions to BHT all seem normal to me, why would they answer any of her questions, especially if they are quilty? A desperate woman may do desperate acts at this point and her family needs to safe guard her sanity. If she ultimately loses her sanity then these suspects have won and her family will all suffer. Please consider what you encourage and applaud towards BHT actions, they are futile and not going to help her cause.

I don't think these sites are any more dangerous than AOL, yahoo, cupid.com, etc. I think its just a newer way to interact with verious people. I think that they only become dangerous when the site user interacts and becomes involves (i.e. meeting outside of the internet, phone calls, ect.) with people they don't know.

There is a website for one of the radio stations in Aruba that posts pics of most of the events that take place in Aruba on a daily basis. There are LOTS of American girls on that website who are dressed exactly like a lot of the Aruban girls. It is pretty much how girls between the ages of 17 and 25 dress these days. Pictures that I have seen of Natalee and her friends showed those girls in much of the same attire. Have you ever been to Tampa or Miami? The girls there dress just as provocatively, if not more. Tampa and Miami are party places for tourists. Aruba is a party place for tourists. In my early and mid twenties, I dressed this way and so did many of my friends. And I live FAR from either of these places. It was just how we dressed when going out to clubs. It does not mean anything sexual. It is more like a fad that got out of control. Much like this tickle.com site seems to be an "in" thing with Aruba. Heck, I would not be surprised if it was actually Americans influencing their way of dressing. I know it appears like "Oh my Gosh" to you, but on the contrary, they are dressing like how young adults dressed here over five years ago. Of course I grew up and realized, yes, even though that was not the message I intended on giving, that attire could send the wrong message to certain dangerous people. Really though, I was married and did not worry about anything because my husband was with me the entire time. But we trusted our "club friends" anyway. Probably too much.

As far as the Ruben Trapenburg comment, I agree with you. In my opinion, THE BIGGEST problem in Aruba is that there seems to be no distinction between young teens and an adult. The tweens, teens and young adults appear to frequent the same hot spots and have connections to each other. It could be because this is a tiny island and everyone knows everyone, and are therefore much too trusting of one another. It could be lack of supervision over the young teens by their parents and the young adults are their guidance.

As for your daughter, if she is of legal age, not much you can do in stopping her from putting herself on a website. If she is not an adult, kick her in her butt and keep her off the computer! It is that simple. Don't let her argue with you. My husband and I do not let our children play around on the computer and I don't feel guilty at all.
