Update On T J Ward

The Atlanta Journal Constitution is said to be profiling the increasingly famous private investigator, T J Ward in tomorrow's edition - the man with the million dollar income charging the family of Natalee Holloway $125 an hour to help find their missing girl.

This link is to a pdf file which previously did a profile on the prolific detective. Some excerpts from page 13 of the pdf:

Ward has been a private investigator since 1982, after retiring from a 25-year career as a police officer. His final police job was as a pilot with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Department, earning $22,000 per year.

Tired of trying to live off his salary, Ward decided to start his own business. "I was too close to poverty level, [which is] $15,000," he said, "Most police officers have to work two to three jobs to make ends meet," said Ward, adding that his 2003 revenue totaled $1 Million.

His firm, staffed with six investigators, bills clients up to $100 per hour, plus expenses. "I was fortunate to be in the right place and meet the right people at the right time," he said. "I know how to market my business and get out there."

One of Ward's earliest clients was former U.S. Rep. Bob Barr. Barr hired Investigative Consultants for his private practice in Atlanta, and while he served in Congress from 1995 - 2003. Barr and Ward are now working together to educate corporations on the Patriot Act. Financial success aside, Ward says he loves his job because every day is different.

RWV has been fortunate enough to see an advance copy of tomorrow's profile on Ward. It is said to include:

Investigator, T.J. Ward, 51, has been working the case for less than two weeks and claims to have already found witnesses and evidence that for two months have eluded island investigators. "This case should have been solved in three days," said Ward last week, as he prepared to return to Aruba Sunday.

One of Ward's fresh leads appears to have just added to investigator's frustrations, however.

Over the past three weeks he said he has appeared almost nightly on a cable news programs talking it. "Nancy Grace told me I'm the most famous private investigator in America," he said

He flew down to Aruba at his own expense and made his pitch to the family: What this case needs isn't more analysis, what this case needs is more shoe leather. They hired him, paying his expenses, and $125 an hour.

Now, with his work, and the FBI reportedly getting more actively involved in the investigation than it was before, the mystery may soon have an ending, said Ward - which opens another mystery.

Who will write the book about the Natalee Holloway case?

"Me," said Ward.

If Steve Yuhas is coming out complaining about the Holloway case, at least he can do is get his facts straight. Where do this man, Yuhas, come from the stone age? Natalee was not dressed like a slut. This is what irks me about some of these conservatives like Yuhas...blame the victim for her death. She asked for it because she dressed like a slut. He reminds me of a conservative minister that once said women ask to be rape because of the clothes they wear. I never went back to his church.

He places all the blame on the Holloway-Twitty clan for bashing Aruba. Holloway-Twitty clan expressed their disappointment in the way the Aruba authorities were handling the case, and they were justified, but they never bashed the Aruba people. They were the first to express disapproval of the Alabama boycott of Aruba because it would hurt the Aruba people.

I could read this jerk's article and know that he was a conservative and the worse type of conservative. The liberals spend their time on Natalee's race.

Yuhas, who has written more than one scathing attack on NH's family, is a self-admitted conservative. Call him whatever you want, but that's his own personal take on who and what he is. I wrote the Yuhas jacka$$ a little email. What a piece of crap. Liberal, conservative, I could care less....He is obviously a whiney, self centered little boy. I have lurked on this site for about a month now, and some people have said lots of things that irritated me, but I think there is a special place in hell for that guy.

I am an Alabamian as well...and yes, I have a special interest in this case since my community adjoins MtBrook. I also care about each of the missing child (person) cases. I think the Shasta and Dylan Groene case with Natalee on top have created an especially painful news environment lately.

My most special interest in this case comes from being a mom with 3 little girls and an aunt to a beautiful blonde 18 year old niece who was due to start at Bama (also on academic scholarship) in the fall with Natalee. My niece is a wonderful responsible child, with a strong faith in the Lord. But I am not stupid enough to think she will never make any mistakes. She and my daughters will definitely make mistakes just as I did, and I pray that they don't pay for them with their lives.

My heart goes out to BHT and Dave every day...I pray that the Lord gives them the special strength necessary to endure the pain they are going through.

A former Pittsburgh Secret Service special agent has found himself in the middle of the Natalee Holloway murder investigation -- the Aruba case that's drawn worldwide attention.

Arthur E. Wood

Volunteering his time, Arthur E. Wood has produced a key witness whose testimony, he said, "kills the alibis" of three key suspects. The testimony persuaded police to drain a 30-acre pond in hopes of finding the body of the 18-year-old Birmingham, Ala., woman, who disappeared May 30.

Wood said two suspects who were released from jail should be rearrested. Based on other leads, he and his crew also have begun searching an Aruban landfill for Holloway's body.

Wood, 56, formerly of West Alexander, Washington County, retired from the Secret Service in 1996 and now lives with his wife, Paula, in Ocala, Fla.

Now a private investigator, he e-mailed Jossy Mansur, owner of Aruba's Spanish daily newspaper, Diario, and the English paper, The Aruba Daily, with ideas about investigating the case. Mansur invited Wood to the Caribbean island off the coast of Venezuela to head a newspaper investigation of Holloway's disappearance.

Wood has worked six weeks in Aruba.

"He has brought a lot of investigative knowledge to the case, and he has the respect of everyone," Mansur said. "He's done a wonderful job."

Surinamese brothers Deepak and Satish Kalpoe were arrested and jailed on suspicion of murder, but then released. Joran van der Sloot remains in an Aruban jail in connection with Holloway's disappearance.

A key new development occurred when Wood heard a jailhouse story that Deepak Kalpoe had turned pale, then angry, during a dominoes game when another inmate provided accusatory hearsay. The inmate said a relative told him about a gardener's claim he'd seen the three suspects on a racket club roadway at 2:30 to 3 a.m. the day Holloway vanished.

That story prompted Wood and crew to search monthlong for the gardener, who went by a common nickname and was Colombian.

When Wood found him, the gardener recounted his experience of driving along a dirt road on racket club property at 2:30 to 3 a.m. that day and having to veer, then stop, because a sports car was blocking the road.

He told Wood the three tried hiding their faces and ducking out of view inside the car. But the witness was certain they were the three suspects, said Wood, who persuaded the witness to take his story to police.

"This kills their alibi. Their timeline is destroyed by this witness," Wood said, noting their claims they left Holloway safely on a nearby beach about 1:30 a.m. before heading home.

Wood said the gardener's testimony provides enough evidence to rearrest the Kalpoe brothers.

That hasn't happened, but police did stage a re-enactment, then began draining the racket club pond along the dirt road in hopes of finding Holloway's body.

Wood said he's not convinced the body is there.

If her body were thrown into the pond, it would have resurfaced by now, he said, unless it had been weighted down. He doubts they had time to do that.

Since then, Wood said, he has found another witness who said he saw three people burying a body in an Aruba landfill two days after Holloway's disappearance. With that information, Wood and crew got a permit, rented a backhoe and have begun searching for her body in the landfill.

"The man is a tremendous investigator," Mansur said. "He's been busy day and night, talking with people undercover and bringing very good information forward."

Wood this week has been interviewed about the Holloway case on NBC, MSNBC, Fox, CNN and other stations.

A native of Wheeling, W.Va., Wood joined the Secret Service in 1975. The federal law enforcement agency, best known for protecting presidents, also is responsible for investigating counterfeiting and financial crimes.

During his 21-year career, he was assigned to protect every president from Jimmy Carter to Bill Clinton, along with former Presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford and foreign dignitaries.

In 1989, he was reassigned to Pittsburgh, where he investigated and helped solve a complicated Nigerian credit card scam, which led to the deportation of a number of Nigerians.

Actually, Dan, that Steve Yuhas character is described as an "arch conservative" radio show host from San Diego. And ex-Marine who apparently didn't get the memo about "compassionate conservatism."

He's typical of the genre, though. These "arch conservative" radio hosts are always trying to out-bombast each other. Even on a non-political topic like this one. Im all for freedom of speech and everyone having their own opinions. I just think its an insult to the Holloway-Twitty family to print that persons views when it was nothing but prejudicial stereotypes and hatefulness. I thought reporters had some kind of ethics or code of honor they believed in. Apparently this guy missed class that day. Or, excuse me, has no class at all. Bham resident, you are evidently not keeping up
with what's going on around here. Fundraisers have been raising money for the Holloway-Twitty
family for weeks at multiple places. Did you miss the outdoor concerts? Did you miss the donations outside of grocery stores? Did you miss
the bake sales and garage sales all to help the family continue with their search and expenses in Aruba? Its not just the Mt Brook community who cares about her. Its the whole State. For once we are not divided by suburb or zip code. But apparently you still are. I am telling you this with a heavy heart. Its sad it takes such a tragedy to make people pull together but it also says alot about what makes us all united. The determination to bring one of our own home. Where she belongs. There has been alot said about
her community being "afluent" and the "tension between Beth and Natalle's father, Dave." Well here's the truth. When two people have a child together, regardless of what caused the divorce,
none of that matters when their child is missing or hurt. The bottom line is everyone loves Natalle and wants this horrible nightmare to end.
They dont have to be great friends to have a common bond, their daughter. They dont' have to
be "close" to still both love their daughter and be hurting down to the bone over her disappearance. I think they've all done a superb
job sharing the communication and media with everyone, despite all their personal pain. And no
there was no big issue between Dave and Beth over
natalee going on this trip. Thats just gossip.
Beth has done a wonderful job as a mother and DAve has done a wonderful job as her father and Jug has done a great job being a stepdad who obviously cares and loves Natalee. They've all done the best they could. Give them that respect and peace. Quit turning this into a soap opera of
divorce and blended families. They've all handled themselves with alot of dignity, more than most of us would have been able to do. They are all hurting. They all need our support and love and prayers. Even if you never thought it would help before, this is the time to get on your knees and pray for some peace for this family. It does not matter what natalee was wearing her last night in aruba, or how much she
may have had to drink, or if she called home or not while on her trip or if her dad wanted her to go on this trip or if she had an ex boyfriend or what her friends were doing or if she willingly left the bar with 3 strangers. All that matters is a beautiful 18 year old girl who had done everything right all her life, made the grades, did all the right things, got a full scholarship to college, wanted to be a doctor,
was well known in her church,had plenty of good friends, and saw her future waiting on her, is now gone. Snuffed out like a candle in the wind.
And for what possible reason.... Why was her life
cut short? Because of some spoiled sociopath or
psychopath. That waste alone makes whatever time
and expense it takes to solve this case worth it.
Natalee deserved much better and the family is
determined to make sure the truth comes out. And no, I am not Debbie Gleghorn. I dont know this family and I dont know anyone who knows them or
Natalle. Im a Mom.

Bham resident, you are evidently not keeping up
with what's going on around here. Fundraisers have been raising money for the Holloway-Twitty
family for weeks at multiple places. Did you miss the outdoor concerts? Did you miss the donations outside of grocery stores? Did you miss
the bake sales and garage sales all to help the family continue with their search and expenses in Aruba? Its not just the Mt Brook community who cares about her. Its the whole State. For once we are not divided by suburb or zip code. But apparently you still are. I am telling you this with a heavy heart. Its sad it takes such a tragedy to make people pull together but it also says alot about what makes us all united. The determination to bring one of our own home. Where she belongs. There has been alot said about
her community being "afluent" and the "tension between Beth and Natalle's father, Dave." Well here's the truth. When two people have a child together, regardless of what caused the divorce,
none of that matters when their child is missing or hurt. The bottom line is everyone loves Natalle and wants this horrible nightmare to end.
They dont have to be great friends to have a common bond, their daughter. They dont' have to
be "close" to still both love their daughter and be hurting down to the bone over her disappearance. I think they've all done a superb
job sharing the communication and media with everyone, despite all their personal pain. And no
there was no big issue between Dave and Beth over
natalee going on this trip. Thats just gossip.

ok for everyone who said natalee could not be listed on fbi missing list because she went missing in anoither country - amy bradley went missing in aruba also or in that region and she is on the fbi missing/kidnapped list - natalee NEVER has been on this list?????????/

Roy - Calista claimed it was "...in aruba also or in that region..." To be specific the ship had left Aruba and was enroute to Curacao.

TJ WARD is a thief. I hired him to do some asset and fraud searches for a personal case. He stole my money, while bragging about natalie, and produced very little. he is no better than the thief he was supposedly researching.
