Update On FBI Involvement In Natalee Holloway Case

ORANEJSTAD – On Sunday afternoon, Assistant Prosecutor Flanegin traveled to Boston and then will continue to Washington DC to transport all audio, video and statements pertaining to the Natalee Holloway case. Flanegin will remain in D.C. to observe the investigation of the evidence that is now being conducted by the FBI at the request of the Prime Minister of Aruba and Minister of Justice.

The FBI has been present for (all?) of the interviews and have been able to review statements (translations), but have not been allowed to actively participate in the interrogations. The lawyers of the three suspects have made a petition on Saturday against sending the Holloway dossier to the United States for evaluation.

Monday morning at 9am, a decision will be made to consider the petition, but either way, the FBI will/has received the dossier and can actively begin assessing the information considered as evidence. Meanwhile, Prosecutor Gerrestschen is actively investigating the Holloway Case on Aruba with cooperation from the Police Department, 3 Special Agents from Holland and in daily contact with Prosecutor Janssen who is in Holland with forensics and Asst Prosecutor Flanegin.

Well being present and listening as opposed to actually being to interrogate are quite different things. And, it depends on what kind of agent sat in on the interrogations. If he/she was an expert interrogator themself, they may have been able to make suggestions to the Aurban LE, but I suspect most of their suggestions likely fell on deaf ears.

How could corrupt Aruban LE be manipulating this case if this is so? Even if the FBI couldn't ask questions they would still offer advice AND report back on suspected illegal activity.

Maybe they've lost touch with what's illegal after the way we went into Iraq? Oops, sorry.

I have to wonder if they don't already know the results. Dr. Wecht said that they have had enough time to have results by now. I suspect that the FBI have the results, the prosecutors office has them and Beth knows what they are. There probably is a gag order out until the prosecutor decides to announce them. I also believe that they are using this time, having this knowledge, to use the special interrogators (keeping this egg in their pockets), hoping that they can break the boys. Between Beth's more animated nature, Jug's positive spin on Aruba, and all the "something BIG is going to break next week" comments coming out from various sources (including the HT PI), it makes me wonder if they don't already know about the results of the duct tape/hair. Even if they do know the results, while it makes a more compelling case for the prosecution, it doesn't rule out that Natalee still may be alive. All it means is that she at one time was restrained in some form.

K.JEANNE- I DON'T THINK A RED HERRING. IF THE FBI CAN'T ASK THE QUESTIOINS, THEY CAN CERTAINLY SIT IN ON THE INTERROGATION AND THROW THE QUESTIONS TO THE PROSECUTION TO ASK FOR THEM. ALL THEY REALLY NEED ARE THE ANSWERS.

I'M CURIOUS AS TO WHAT LANGUAGE THEY ARE SPEAKING TO JORAN AND THE BROTHERS AS A PRIMARY LANGUAGE.

My hopes lie with the Netherlands and the FBI investigators working together. It has taken far too long to get to this point. Perhaps the training and skills of investigators from both countries will finally unravel this mess. IMO, far too much time has been lost up until now.

my sentiments are with a few of the speculators on this blog...if -le did sloppy investigation and or interrogation uninetntionaly, then why the fuss over -fbi being involved??? most certainly egos can be set aside, and allow logic prevail, admit you just blundered and should have asked for a helping hand long time ago...by allowing outside expertise to collaborate will be to your own advantage and you will learn plenty if and whenever a future tragedy was to take place in aruba...spare yourself the false pride and allow this to be solved, and dignify your people and country with humility...

my theory is your chief is biased and covering up, since it may be that his hands are dirty...
second theory is all those on the inside may be having their palms greased by the unseedy to look the other way, and the fact that the world will see is embarassing...however, i doubt the seedy had anything to do with this at all...

that being said...i also believe the accused probably never been to the places they mention such as the beach and the holiday inn...it had to do more with where they were most familiar with...heck unless they took tourists to these lighthouses on a daily basis....steven croes would be of particular interest and exploring further..
some of you have said there is no dna evidence on kalpoes car...how did you get that information? well if his car was not searched when they were first arrested, then what dna can you expect..he did have 10 days do clean up did he not??? after that is it possible that he simply wiped her cleaner than possible, or the evidence collected was simply discarded by chief...after all he held the gavel did he not..was it not said that he had the upper hand in all of the decisions...

as for them sweating now, maybe its contagious, they'd better curtail paulus visits to their premises, seems like the sweat is multiplying...

for all those that say if -natalee was drinking dancing, stripping, having a liason does not matter...as to judging her and saying she is the evil of her own demise is not how i interpret this or even suggest that...

that being said, it is, it is IT IS very very important what she did her whole vacation, especially her last day and her last hours...i've said it moons ago, the tapes of clowns and charlies hopefully have been ceased very very early on, to establish who was around her, who served her drinks, who sat with her, who was present by her drink when she was dancing, was it unatended??? extremely critical...so yes JL on that part i wholeheartedly agree with you..all and even the minute details are important..

there have to be many witnesses to the going's on that evening. some may just be afraid to come forward. even if they left aruba, seems the long arms of the "dirty law" there would reach them anywhere. but god knows they are hiding something, and in their hearts they know coming forward is the right thing to do. eventually, everything comes out in the wash anyway.

Do you think if there was a cover up that any of the real incriminating evidence still exists? If you believe a cover up occurred it would make no sense for the people doing the covering up to hold on to it. Why keep it in the file?

Someone probably alrerady said it, but the problem with this FBI change of heart so late in the game by Aruban authorities looks too much like a set-up by now to share the blame in not "solving" the case. van Der Straaten os probably out of reach for good once he gets out of there after scouring the evidence logs and lockers for anything useful at all. He was teh crooked link all along, and maybe his work covering it up is finally done. I wouldn't fully trust this cooperation deal. It's just incredibly late in the game for this. Smells funny, much like the rest of it...

I agree. It's like throwing the Aruban LE is throwing some of the evidence, transcripts, etc. at the FBI and saying, "Here you go! Now solve it." After more than a month has gone by with sloppy, half-hearted gathering of evidence. Without the FBI having actual access to the suspect(s) using their interviewing techniques, then all of this means nothing. It also means nothing if the suspect(s) can walk away because of the incompetence of the LE on this case...

First of all, My sympathy goes out to the Holloway Family! I think this is a terrible case and a reminder of how cruel and heartless this world is and the people in it! I come from a city that seems to thrive off of negativity, corruption and violence! I pray that everything turns out okay which will be done because it is god's will! What about a BOAT? They can't find Natalee in Aruba so who's to say she was taken somewhere else. I think that guy on the party boat knows more then he is saying. Someone needs to speak up and maybe will eventually. But scared of what would happen to them. I'm hoping Natalee is still alive out there in the world. She has her whole life ahead of her. Maybe she isn't even called Natalee anymore, has cut her hair and surviving on her own. There are so many possibilies. I would rather think positive.
