I'm getting a conflicting story from Aruba as regards the FBI's ability to question Joran Van der Sloot. And that item was not mentioned in tonight's news brief - linked second above. I'll continue to look into this as I know the first source is reliable. I apologize if there has been some miscommunication.
For now, I can only conclude it's up in the air. Developing.
The use of van der Sloot's samples has been blocked because prosecutors failed to clarify what his DNA samples would be compared with.
In the case of van der Sloot's friend, the court said there isn't enough evidence to warrant using the tests. The court said the prosecution could request new DNA samples from van der Sloot if it has documents clarifying what would be used in the comparison.
Additionally, while the judge is said to have ruled that it's legal to transport Joran from the prison to the Police Station for questioning due to a lack of interrogation facilities, including video, at the prison - the suspect is said to be using his right to silence, insisting he has no more to say.
Update: Currently, it's my understanding that while the FBI has been invited in "in full capacity," there may be a ruling next week which could prevent their conclusions being used as evidence in court. Seems like a bit of a mixed bag, but that could also be a workable solution for all.

Right now I watch Nancy Grace if I want to hear what OTHER people have to say.
I started watching when little Shasta was found. I lived in Coeur d' Alene for 18 years and could easily picture her in that Denny's and at the hospital where my son had been. I could imagine where her mother's home was near the highway. At the time I wasn't aware that Fox and MSNBC had better shows on. So now, unless there is someone on NG that I want to hear, believe me, I don't watch her.

Chandra Levy case has nothing to do with what I was talking about so I don't see your point in bringing it up? The LE on the Levy case were not draining ponds, digging through landfills, interviewing false witnesses, finding hair and sending it out to be analyized, that had nothing to do with the case. In other words chasing their tails for 8 weeks on some one elses say so.
I might also add if this case is usual to Aruba (Which you stated)then it most definately is not a safe place to travel to.
If it usual for someone to go missing their and they are never found and no one is charged with their disappearance, then that is pretty damn sad.

Color:I did not say that this case is usual IN Aruba, I said that this type of situation is not unique TO Aruba. As in, it happens other places. Don't you remember in the Levy case where the LE were digging in trash for thrown out watch boxes and tearing up concrete because a psychic and mistress thought a suspect had possibly been in the area. It's not just about the Levy case, however. There are unsolved missing person cases everywhere. So it's not a problem unique to Aruba. It's unfortunate and hearbreaking, but I don't think there is someone orchestrating the failure of LE to find Natalee. Even Greta said so in the Gretawire.

I don't like to watch Nancy Grace at all.She is a prosecutor and that is the mode she goes into in these shows. The minute someone might be a suspect, she moves into the mode of demonizing them and trying to make it seem like they are for sure guilty. That is OK for a prosecutor to do, because that is their job and the defense will will counter with why that doesn't add up, so there is balance. But with Nancy, there is no balance from her perspective - She acts like she has no doubts that someone is guilty the minute they are suspected. There is no balance to her reporting.
Greta on FOX (and I usually don't care for FOX) has done a very good job of providing balance in her coverage and it think it is helpful that she is also an attorney. You can tell that she is not convinced what did occur, she points out some suspicions, but still she doesn't move in for the kill without clear evidence.

This morning's headline.
http://www.awemainta.com/pressdisplay/viewer.aspx
(translated terrorist treath against Aruba)
Apparently a letter from the US has been sent to the Aruban Gov't saying that if NH is not returned home safely, food and water from will be poisoned on the island. Authorities are taken this matter vey seriously.
While thishas nothing to do with the case itself, behaviour like this is unacceptable. Aren't we (US) so proud that we fight terrorism all over the world. I hope we don't get any rednecks that call this an act of patriotism instead of calling it for for it really stands for; Terrorsim.
Hoping that the proper actions are taken against these people(whomever they may be)
Greetings from Aruba

I am not convinced that Joran harmed Natalie or is even positively sure what happened to her. Maybe yes, maybe no.
People say, well why are they still holding him if they don't have strong evidence that he did something. I think they are holding him because here will be a rage by the Twittys and others if they let him go before they can figure out something, they have to hold someone.
Also, I think they are holding him for his own safety. This threat you just posted is just one example of the nuts out there. Someone may try an kill him with this mob mentality. Have even had posters on this board who have made these threats.

I sure am happy to see that I am not the only one that does not like the Nancy Grace show. I always thought that a trial was a search for the truth not a fight to the finish just to win and to he__ with the truth. It is no wonder so many people have been released from death row because of DNA after watching how a former prosecutor rants on TV without knowing the facts of a case.

This forum is really a waste of time. Just let it go, the authorities will solve the case and then all you people can watch it on cnn for like a week, and forget about it 2 weeks later. People, stop wasting your time.
God bless the Holloway family, I hope the case gets solved and the put the killer behind bars for life.
