I have news from Aruba I would like to get to but I would like to ask for some help from the many loyal commenters here. While I genuinely enjoy the friendships and sense of community that's been developed - the web log format is really not the best for significant discussion. The bandwidth and loading issues actually cause you more problems than me.
Generally a comment thread pertains to the topic of the post and does not generate continued discussion. The amazing support I have gotten for this effort has changed that here - and please don't think for a minute that I don't appreciate that.
However, given technical constraints, I'd like to ask your co-operation in utilizing an actual chat or messaging format for discussions outside of the topic of the posted story.
I will make time this weekend to install previously tested software to monitor access to comments so that many of my most loyal readers will be able to return. ALso, I have just finished deleting and banning more than a few trolls. If any regular reader wishes to email me with additional name, thread and posting time of an obvious troll, or a vugal post - please do so and I will deal with it in cleaning things up.
To that end, I am presenting two alternatives - at least for now. Justice Posse had an established chat area and they have now expanded to include a forum for discussions of the Natalee Holloway case. Please consider using this chat area.
As another alternative, good friend Ian of The Political Teen also has Blogsfor Natalee Chat., which I have linked to before. If you would be so kind as to explore these areas for off-topic chat, I would really appreciate it. My alternative would be to start closing off comment areas entirely, something I really do not want to do.
In keeping with this endeavor, I will not be creating any new Discussion Forums here at RWV for now. At the same time, I do hope you will continue to comment on stories and articles here. And I will make sure that updates and new stories are distributed to any message boards which request them, along with being sure to visit myself.
Actually, anyone is free to post a link, though I would prefer you not lift entire articles. Thank you, all - I hope you understand.
I have something coming up shortly via Aruba I am sure many will want to read ... and comment on, no doubt! - Please feel free to email with any questions. - Dan
