In what was a controversial story at the time, I reported that Natalee Holloway left Carlos and Charlies with Deepak Kalpoe and not Joran Va der Sloot. In addition to sources used for that first report, I have now confirmed through another independent witness that the report was in fact accurate.
In attempts to re-construct the time-line for the night of Natalee Holloway's disappearance, it now seems that she did leave first with Joran Van der Sloot - but the two did not walk off together immediately.
At some point after most of Natalee's friends drifted away, Joran v d Sloot and Satish Kalpoe are thought to have left the front of the club, perhaps to return to Deepak's car.
Natalee then went back inside the club very briefly before emerging with the elder Kalpoe brother, who, as previously reported, was said to have been holding her by the arm. That has been described as non-romantic in nature and more consistent with an effort to assist one as they walk. At some point during that time period an unidentified Mountain Brook student is reported to have asked her if she was "Okay." It's believed she responded that she was.
The two are said to have been observed walking up the street from C and C some 80 to 100 yards, passing by the other nightclubs on the street until at or through a nearby intersection. At some point time after they disappeared from view, the three boys and Natalee Holloway are reported to have come back through the area, all seated in the car of Deepak Kalpoe. The car containing Natalee Holloway is said to have been observed by another Mountain Brook student who was located upon the porch of another nightclub.

I really do feel like Paulo I think they have found the remains of Natalie and that is why Beth is going home. Remember she said she would not leave without Natalee. I think the police are trying to get more leads to charge someone or persons with murder. But we should know this week.

It seems a little odd that the local LE spent so much time draining the pond and seemingly quit the search of it so abruptly. I wonder if they really did find somethihg there, but aren't saying. Also another reason could be that they have found what they are looking for at the landfill and are keeping it quit for now. Anyone else think the pond search ended a little too quickley, when you think of all the man power and equipment and time put into draining it.

"Guys Shango is real. Stop thinking politically and start thinking geographically"
Better be careful. Dan gets very upset about Shango and "conspiracy nonsense."

CHINBEAR SAID:
Joran van der Sloot's (supposed) statements about someone (Deepak Kalpoe) raping and killing Miss Holloway do insinuate that: A) there is a murder to investigate, and B) there is obviously a strong reason to believe that JvdS knows the specifics. That said, it's hard to believe the MB students are at any fault...but...I do believe one (or more) knows more about events after the good-bye waves from the Kalpoemobile.

I need more clarification and confirmation about JVDS statement b/c according to one of his attorneys the Deepak allegation has been quoted "out of context". It was covered on one of the tv news shows, either MSN or CNN. The lawyer was quoted as saying to reporters that during early interrogations Joran had become frustrated and said "I don't know what happened to her. Maybe Deepak went back to the beach and raped her and then killed her. I don't know." Freudian slip? Aimless frustration? Partial truth?

I agree. That is bizarre. Wondering why.

This case is just horrable. I think that they quit their search in the pond way to quick, especially when it took them like a week to drain it. I just hope and pray that they find her remains so her family and friends will have some closier. I wonder if she was forced out of the bar with them, why would she leave with boys she doesn't know, all by herself, even being drunk and premiscuous a girl would always have a friend by their side before leaving with guys she doesn't know. That's what's wierd about the situation. Also, on that island how hard could it be to find her?????

What I still don't understand is, why the hell would Natalee's girlfriends or the group of kids that she went to the bar with leave her, not had paid attention or let her go off with the boys, has there ever been interviews of what any of her friends think what could of happened to her- where they the ones who called the police or how did they notice she went missing?when she didn't show up when it was time to leave for the airport or what? I never heard anything about that or maybe I missed it when it happened, but that just pisses me off and if I were Beth Twitty I would be pissed off and wondering why the hell they let Natalee leave with guys she didn't know- god they should of known better - I have a teenage girl and when her and her friends go anywhere or even with a med. to small size group of friends I always say "stay together" and especially when they went on a class trip to ARUBA- damn natalee should of known better and so should of her friends... I know you never think bad stuff can happen BUT they can!

Maranda and Nikki,
I had the same question, and the only thing I can think of is that when they left, there were tons of people around, and they were somewhat drunk and laughing, and maybe talking with other people, so it wasn't obvious that she wasn't with them after awhile. Someone here said (and could just be a rumor, not fact) that she may have gone back inside and one of the Kalpoes led her out. Maybe the friends thought she went back inside to get something she forgot, and by then their taxi zoomed away. I'm completely guessing here, but even though I agree with you and others that it seems odd a pack of friends didn't leave together, I can also think of why they may have split up and didn't think anything weird about it.

It's funny...the 3 suspects (yes, three) seem to be the only ones that weren't drinking or drunk that night. Could that be the reason they were hanging out at CNC at closing time...trying to find a likely victim, knowing that all these kids would probably be too sloshed to notice anything out of the ordinary. Those 3 aren't dumb. They knew what they were doing. Wouldn't surprise me if they've done it before. After all, there is another girl missing in Aruba for years. Are they copycats or could they have also had something to do with that one?
Posted by: Concerned | Monday, August 15, 2005 at 01:02 PM
There is something "rotten in Aruba", and I think Paulus VDS knows what it is and where the "body is buried". Apparently the elder VDS is politically powerful on that small Dutch island, so there is the likelyhood of a major coverup to protect his horny son. I hope that there is an American boycott that will stop the American dollars from future contribution to their economy.

Every night, the news comes on to tell us about some new "break" in this horribly tragic story of Natalie Holloway. The Aruban authorities have "this new witness" or "that new detail", but they can't seem to keep track of them. Why do they keep disappearing? All of it is BS in my opinion. The Aruban authorities are bumbling, and frankly, inexperienced. They have no real expertise in solving violent crime and they are desperately grabbing at anything they can because of the pressure from the United States and the brave Holloway & Twitty families. Van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers are probably rapists and definitely murderers and they are being protected by the same people who are supposed to be solving this case. A lovely girl is missing, and more than probably dead, and the Aruban authorities have allowed this travesty to remain "unsolved". There is a growing number of Americans who will NEVER set foot on an island that does so little to prosecute criminals who happen to be legally connected or part of the "right side of the tracks" community. It sounds like tourists, especially young, innocent, drunk ones, are used for their sick enjoyment, whenever the opportunity presents itself - or maybe these young people are set-up, drugged and victimized. Corruption has always been a problem in the islands, but it's about time the Americans who have a choice in where they travel decide NOT to spend money where so little is done to keep them safe. Aside from the Aruban ineptitude, this is also a sad lesson about unchaperoned teenagers who needed to drink less and care more about keeping tabs on each other, especially when in a foreign country where "anything goes". Hopefully something good will come of this story and Natalee will be vindicated. Miracles do still happen....don't they?

I agree with some of the posts that the Mtn Brook kids know more...I would like to know who was Natalee's roomate, if she had one or not...Why is there male DNA on her toothbrush?...My friends and I were always buddy checking each other when we went to places that weren't too familiar to us...If Natalee was as popular in school as we believe that she was...she would have been surrounded by male and female friends at all times...did she have a boyfriend on the class trip too?...A girl usually has a boyfriend or a close male friend to spend on a senior trip in Aruba...Most popular kids usually have many friends that love hanging close by...and girls love to chat about any and everything that they have done...The pictures we see of Natalee with a group of girls...they probably know each and every detail of everything that they all have been doing on this senior trip.. I am not saying that they know what happened to her when she disappeared...I am just saying that girls love telling each other secrets and stuff... I don't believe that Natalee is any exception...Is it possible that they had guys staying over night in her motel room the night or the night before?...someone used her toothbrush with the male DNA. If she had a roomate...could it be possible that the roomate had a male friend sleeping in the room the same night that Natalee disappeared?...These are a lot of questions that a lot of the American people are wanting to know...The inside personality of Natalee and her friends...if we had all of this information then maybe someone did see something more than what has been told so far...that could possible help the investigation...but maybe they are afraid to say anything for fear of getting into trouble themselves...these kids wanted to have fun on their senior trip...hey we were 18 once...we know what goes on.

Natalee did not deserve to be "murdered." However, I do believe that her mother is in total denial of her daugther's behaviour and her friends, or does not know. WHERE were her friends? If the car confession is true; then the friends lied to police of her condition, in fact; so called friends can say anything. Of course Joran is going to insult Natlee, that is NOT unusual with a one night stand; most men talk ill of women they have no respect for other than that night. The only NOT right is that Natalee was dead. Open up eyes mom and friends, your responsibility is?????
