Natalee Holloway Witness Stumbles: Leads Thin
ArubaToday, an Aruban publication in english, online here, claims that a witness discovered by Twitty family Private Investigator, T.J. Ward in the Natalee Holloway case may be of little real value.
Private Investigator T.J.Ward,who is working for the Twitty family, speaks to a journalist from People magazine about his investigation. Ward ’s recent finding of a witness sadly fizzled out after she couldn ’t identify the make or color of the car or even the date or time it passed by her home adjacent to the Racquet Club.
Reportedly, it appears her ability to place the car of Deepak Kalpoe at the location is in serious doubt.
The report from ArubaToday also disputes earlier claims found in Diario, another Aruban publication - that it seemed as though something had been found in the pond.
Crews expected to finish draining the pond on Friday, said Gabriel Kelly,a spokesman for the island ’s fire department, which was coordinating the effort.“So far we haven ’t found anything out of the ordinary,”Kelly said.

she id'ed the car from it's unique tail lights from what i remember. everyone on the island knows deepaks car because it stands out with those lights. i think it's aruba today that has the problem with the witness.

this is aruba todays take on things i assume since the original text had no " marks. nice, aruba today and julia renfro are in bed with the sloots. i remember her glowing remarks about them. i don't believe it until i see mr ward's lips mouthing the words myself. both newspapers on this island have huge problems as far as i'm concerned.

Somebody scared this lady. She probably never knew what she was getting herself into.

No surprise there. It smelled like a dead fish the first time the PI opened his mouth on TV.
Especially since the police had survellance (electronic or otherwise) on Deepak's car at that time.
Posted by: Jessie | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 04:21 AM
Let's not forget that Aruba Today is in competition with Diario and probably wanted to discredit Jossy's witness in a round about fashion. I personally give far more credance in TJ Ward's abilities than anything Aruba Today is reporting. Propoganda!

The most helpful thing TJ Ward could do is to apply that voice overlay machine to himself when he appears on Television. This man is all hat.
A corporate security consultant on the ground in Aruba talking to the average person is like David Dukes going door to door in projects in Cleveland, Ohio.

Yeah, I recall she said multiple times that Joran was on the bus on time and "aced all his tests".

I think somebody got to this woman. She positively ID'd the car earlier. What happened? Earlier reports say she gave that description, she gave it before she even saw a picture of the car.
Posted by: FloridaPatty | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 06:54 AM
Ward was pretty clear that his witness easily identified the car because of its unusual features. Last night there was talk of numerous new witnesses. I am wondering if these witnesses are one and the same.
Van der Straten admitted the monitoring of the three suspects was loose.

Here is a quote from HYSCIENCE:
Additionally, TJ Ward admitted on Fox News to be working (as an agent) for the Dairio newspaper

millie - that's bs because i watched him last night and he NEVER made that assertion. He's being paid by the Holloway family NOT the Diario.
People, let's not lose sight that this woman has not even spoken to the police. Tito stated last night that the search of the pond is based on NUMEROUS witnesses that have spoken to the police, NOT including this lady. Tito also stated there is great optimism about a resolution to this case soon.
Jug Twitty also stated there is "more to come." I tend to believe him. Also let's not lose sight of what the police and FBI might have that they are keeping close to the vest. I still think they might find something buried in that pond, at least I'm hoping.
The gardener has not been discredited.

OK! How annoying was all that news coverage last night on O'reilly(- bill) and Nancy Grace?
Grace is soooo annoying. Please take her off the air. I thought I was watching the news from 2 days ago.
Posted by: danielle | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 07:46 AM
Danielle - I agree about Nancy Grace being annoying. A little bit of watching Nancy goes a LONG way.
Sorry for the dish on Nancy but that has been building up. ha!
In terms of this case, here we go again. It is such a roller coaster to follow. What I find strange is it seems like when there are new developments or big leads and then these do not pan out, many of the things that were stated seem to just vanish.
For example, it is still so confusing to me why the DJ was arrested, what he did or said to lead to that and how it was resolved. Same for Paulus. And, the same with some of the witnesses. Poof - things come and go.
I truly hope they find Natalee soon. Her family has had to endure WAY too much outside of the horrific realm of more than likely losing their daughter.
Posted by: musicgirlms | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 07:54 AM
I'm glad someone can see that Grace is making a mockery of a very serious issue. She needs to report news like the run away bride or something of that nature. Get her off the NH case. She annoys everyone she interviews. I can see it on their faces. Buffoon!

Dan,
Why haven't the 3 boys and the father been given lie dectector test? You would think this would have been on of the first things said. Wasn't there a psychic brought in down there and what did that person say?
Posted by: tndeb | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 08:10 AM
never mind a polygraph. Try sodium pentathol!!!
Posted by: danielle | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 08:16 AM
After weeks without any leads, does anyone feel like witnesseses and leads are being "planted" to throw off this investigation and exhaust the efforts of those who are dedicated to finding Natalee? IE: dig in a pond near the Marriot beach, grave, tape with hair, now a pond by the Racquet Club and "credible" witnessesses. This is just too sad to be true. God Speed those who are truly committed to truth. May light be shone to uncover a myriad of lies and deceit. May God comfort the hearts moment by moment of the ones who have really lost in all of this....the loved ones of a girl who was celebrating life.

Lie detector tests along with voice analysis tests are not allowed in Aruba.
Posted by: Alabama Mother | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 08:50 AM
Just read this quote from cbsnews website by Jug re the $1m dollar reward and the abduction theory:
------
Yet, says Cobiella, it's a rumor that's giving Natalee's family the most hope: a rumor that the high school grad was kidnapped, and is alive somewhere, and that the $1 million reward being offered in the case will help get her back.
"I mean," says Jug Twitty, "wouldn't that be unbelievable if it came about because of that? I mean, gosh, yes, we hope that very much."
The family doesn't think the abduction angle has been pursued thoroughly enough by authorities in Aruba, Cobiella says.
----
Huh?! Yet on Fox Jug disputes this theory vigorously and even imtimated that he is sick of getting calls regarding this. Either they do know and want to keep it out of the main media because they are negotiating...
I think that it is odd that someone like Jossy hangs around the scene so much. It's as if the person PVdS contacted to arrange disappearance/disposal is either connected or distantly related to Jossy and he is doing damage control by staying at the forefront of this investigation.
Jossy seems to be intent on coming up with new leads and then having them discredited.
It seems to me that this rumour that Natalee is alive is well founded enough to keep Beth going also. I think this is the only circumstance under which she is able to keep from cracking up entirely. I believe that if she had total proof that N was dead and was just holding out to find her remains her condition would be far worse. She wouldn't expend so much energy on the posters.
Posted by: peony | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 09:02 AM
Peony, I have always thought the same thing about JOssy. I don't trust that guy.
Posted by: tmag | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 09:05 AM
Just like in America they can refuse to take a lie detector test. I heard that VS refused to take one.

It was my understanding this lady saw Deepak's car several times the night Natalee went missing. His car wasn't being surveilled then.
If she is changing her story, she's probably been threatened.

None of us really know what is going on at this point. The witnesses could be reliable or scammers, we really don't know because of reporters jumping the gun, wanting to make the big update first. I hope they don't find Natalee in that pond... We all hope for the best... Even if they are getting the truth from these "witnesses" they can not tell us based on Dutch Law, they really are not supposed to share evidence or anything untill they have made their ruling in court... anybody else remember article from the beginning of this?? God Bless Natalee and her Mother Beth.. May all of her efforts bring her daughter home to her arms :)
Posted by: nlk2005 | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 09:39 AM
As sad as this is, I hope and pray this is a lesson for all of EVERYONE. When you guys go out together, you all leave together. It has bothered me since day one that Natalee's friends let her get in a car with 3 guys, expecially in her state of mind, and take off. I'm not trying to lay blame on anyone, I just hope their is a lesson learned here. I'm sure this happens in the states all the time. I have a 21 year old daughter, who thank god doesn't drink and never has, been she does go out dancing with friends that do drink. The one thing we constantly talk about, if you put a drink down, water or whatever, and you turn your eyes away from it, you get another.
Beth Twitty, you are an amazing woman to go through what you are going through and still be able to wake every morning with the determination you have. God Bless you and all of your family, I hope you can take your daughter home very soon!!!

I think this particular female witness is NOT the same one who IDed DP's car so accurately before seeing a photo of it. Remember, we are unaware of who these recent witnesses are or even how MANY there are - this could well be a different woman.
Posted by: transplantedTXan | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 09:50 AM
The female witness is the one found by the PI and stated that she saw tha car a few times around those areas after the disappearance.
The other witness (gardner) is keeping his declaration/statement that he saw the car and the three boys at 2.30 - 2.45 of the night of the disappearance.

tndeb-I agree with your post. After raising 5 kids, my most difficult lessons have been giving them wings at age 18-19. I can't take my brain or life experience and put it in their lives.....there are going to be at least a few hard lessons in life that they have to learn on their own. It helps me when I remember that I didn't always listen to my own parents, I didn't always do what was smart. Sometimes I was careless and lost the balance between the practical/responsibilites (safety)of life and the passions/pleasures of life (fun).
It is a miracle that we haven't all fallen peril to doing at least one stupid thing in our life.

Nancy Grace does an excellent job of reporting the news. I admire her for her honest candor and for telling it like it is...You go girl!!! She can only work with what CNN gives her to work with and yesterday they did not give her much!!

Reader2,
How in the world can you say that Beth Twitty is a flake? My god, do you have no heart or soul and obviously you must not have children because if you did, you would conpletely understand where this mother is coming from.
Tmag,
How well I know what you are saying. If they could only learn from our mistakes. I have been completley honest with my daughter about everything I did as a teenager and a young adult and I guess this is why she may listen a little more. All we can do is pray that when they leave the driveway, that God brings them back home safe and sound!

Reader 2,
I might be a flake if my kid was murdered. To bad we cant all be perfect like you.

Did any of you catch Hannity & Colmes interview with Jug Twitty yesterday? Hannity was asking him how he got certain info regarding witness statements, etc. - was it through officials or via 3rd party accounts - he hemmed and hawed and it was obvious that he was uncomfortable - and he said "through officials."
I can't recall the whole exchange but it really left me with the impression that he (and Beth) know alot more than they are saying and that officials have/know alot more than what is out there in the media.
What I also found very interesting was Scarborrough Country's interview with a guy from Equisearch. They're looking in two specific areas in a landfill via tips. And that the tips have been verified through some items already found - a hotel room key card and towels. They're looking for a big object which is near where "evidence" is. Unfortunately several feet of trash has been deposited since Natalie's disappearance.
I think in the end this will be a lot like the Scott Peterson case - everyone knew he did it. It just took a long time to be able to take the little bits and pieces and begin to craft the whole puzzle. Once the body was found, they arrested him and put him on trial.
I think the Aruban gvt is collecting as many puzzle pieces that they can, before September 4th, so on that day they can present everything at once to officially charge Joran. Why show their hand any earlier?
They're just letting only certain pieces of info leak out that will help them gather more evidence - I think that is why all of the witness information has been offically acknowledged - so that other witnesses feel safe in coming foward. I think that there is other evidence that they are keeping close to the vest.

You just never know. What if her family gave up and went home and then two years from now she was found in someother country. She would wonder why we all gave up on her and why she suffered so long because of it. You just never know.

we are all flakes hanging around this blog trying to collectively figure out the answers....at least Beth has a vested interest.
Gotta go get some work done. Hope someone solves this while I am gone.

reader2 - You're a putz and a poor excuse for breathing oxygen. Is that all you can do is call TJ and Beth a flake? They are far from flakes. I doubt if you were in Beth's shoes you would be able to hold up as long as she has and fight for her daughther the way she has. I take it your a small little man but Beth has more courage in her pinky than you'll ever know. As for TJ, I'm sure you wouldn't say that to his face, you coward. TJ is credible and legitmate.
Jug says he knows more is to come because he has other information that you, me or Joe Blow doesn't know.
Get a life loser.

I agree w/Sara. Especially, after hearing Ward speak last night on Fox. Specifically, stated his witness could tie the Kalpoes and VDS to this location a # of times. Was very site specific, and detailed the car, the color/make, tailights and wheels.
Now a 180. Something isn't right. This, based on info he provided, appeared to be the only witness HE had, w/respect to his ground work at the club in proximity of the pond.
Posted by: outraged | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:26 AM
TJ Ward comes off like another Geraldo Rivera, to me. This is a man who is supposed to be acting as a "private investigator" for the Twittys. Yet, he must be spending his entire days running back and forth from one T.V. Station's set to another. I guess I just wouldn't classify that as private OR investigative. But, hey! That's just my opinion. This entire case looks like a sham to me. From ALL sides. Not a clue what the motivation is behind anything I've seen from anyone. The Arubans lie, the Dutch lie, the Americans lie, the Surinamese lie, everyone's full of shite.

Posted by: Cassandra | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:32 AM
I said it last night and I will say it now - all of this tinks - tj ward just gave an interview 2 days ago saying this lady id'd deepaks car to a "T" and that he even had her describe the tailights on it he said he confirmed this by showing her a pic and shwe was sure that was it and furthermore he said it in a interview on Larry King Live - i read the transcript - I know it was there and now last night it has been deleted from the transcript - and I KNOW KNOW KNOW what I read no doubts - this is all too much - why is Jossy involved so much here and producing these witnesses all of a sudden with the reward up to a million now? it seems he is trying to get le bust chasing false leads....and I am tired of the secretiveness of beth and Jug on tv - at first I htought ok they don't want to jeapordize the investigation but now? Their own P.I. is balbbing everyhting he hears and finds on every media outlet he can get to so what's the deal? I am tired of them saying they have infoo to "shock the world" and all this evidence but they refuse to say what it is - as I said last night people have donated their time and over a million dollars to help find natalee and we all deserve the truth not this big secret mystery - there are too many coincidental ties between jossy and jug for me to not think something is wrong here....and why is Beth always avoiding certain questions? you can nopt continue to ask america to support you and help you if we are all being made fools of

Phrasal Verb: "flake out" Slang
To fall asleep or collapse from fatigue or exhaustion.
To act in an odd or eccentric manner.
To lose interest or nerve.
Reader 2-get a vocabulary that works for you. Beth Holloway is a courageous woman. If she flakes out, it will be because she "collapses from fatique and exhaustion, not because she loses interst or nerve."
This is a battle where we all need to cheer the underdog ON.
