You'll need to scroll down to the Aruba story in this AP Caribbean report.
ORANJESTAD, Aruba (AP) - The family of Natalee Holloway increased the reward Thursday for help finding the U.S. teen who has been missing for more than six weeks.
There is now a US$200,000 (euro164,600) reward for her safe return and US$100,000 (euro82,300) for information that helps authorities solve the mystery surrounding her disappearance, the teen's mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, said at a news conference.
Holloway, 18, disappeared May 30, hours before she was to catch a return flight to Mountain Brook, Alabama., at the end of high school graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island. Extensive searches by Dutch marines, Aruban police, and some 2,000 volunteers have found no trace of her.

I am glad that Beth has changed the description of how the reward mone will be rewarded. If Natalee is deceased and someones knows the circumstances involved on what may have happened to here and where and how her body was disposed of, I feel like more people will be more willing to share what they have knowing that they will get something for sharing of information if it pans out into something positive. The way it was before it was only to be rewarded for her "SAFE"
return.
Hopefully someone or several will come forward now.

Sure wish I knew. And not for the money. It is just such crap that she is still missing.

I think the reward info should be worded as:
X amount of dollars (500K?) for the recovery of Natalee. Bonus of 1 Million for her safe return. Considering all the folks that visit this blog, we can certainly come up with plenty of bucks to put towards the reward.
IMO, the reward amount is not very tempting right now. 150-200k doesn't go very far these days.
No, we aren't all rich, but there are alot of us.

How much money will it take to get someone who knows what happened to have the nerve to come forward?

I can't imagine how a money reward would matter. Gosh, if I knew ANYTHING, I'd tell without thinking about a reward. It would be the last thing that would occur to me. Like the lady who spotted Elizabeth Smart didn't debate whether or not to call in the tip, thinking "I guess I should call, I could really use the reward money." The same with Shasta Groene and the people who recognized her.
There have been many cases of those who will not accept reward money, because all they did was the *right thing.*
So, I do not think it's an incentive. Now, if she is KIDNAPPED, for real, then it may be a meaningful way of negotiation. Has anyone considered that this is what may be the purpose of that fund? A way for them to negotiate with possible kidnappers?
What if she originally was kidnapped,...say they did get a phone call or note saying she was...and then lost contact with the kidnappers who never expected the heat to be this intense. Maybe they're in Venezuela, or anywhere, on another island...in Costa Rica...
They may feel it's too intense for them to even contact the Twittys, with not only one LE force, but, many, and an international focus.

Jazzy, i agree. what i was trying to say was no amount of money will bring anyone forward because everyone who knows anything is afraid of being killed by the corrupt criminals involved in this. ask lone war eagle.

Pamy,
Right on!
And, if you read the TNI article, its more than just corrupt criminals I'm afraid. I am talking the "bankers of La Cosa Nostra"--I mean Italian mafia-turned drug lords, slavetraders, and the like. These people are ruthless beyond anyone's imagination.
The only people who may begin to understand this is the DEA, etc.
That explains this whole fiasco--she is with one of the "family" and we just can only hope is still alive!
IMHO

-eagle....she is not with one of the families, families have more prevalent things on their mind like peddling their product..the 3 gofers paulus and dj know where they put her...vander straten would know as well..joran gets briefed daily on what to say and how to zip...daily affection from mommy and daddy, and the godfather encouraging him to just be patient..
answer to your questions paulus not working? he peddle pushes..their arubian attorney is another who will not work on their behalf, only empty their pockets, and feed them legal mumbo jumbo.. my instinct was right on listening to jug twitty say the family gets no information on any developments, and the attorney when questioned said she gets briefed on the investigation and relays it all to the family...so yes, beth and jug are liars now, saying they learn things from the journalists..(there is your prime example) their mantra is to mentaly exhaust the holloways..there is no conscience in the seedy world, and logic does not prevail, ego, and their assets come first..watch the deviation and roadblocks as this unfolds...
well tapes of clowns and charlies should have been sealed long time ago as evidence, and studied for all body demeanors by all who surrounded natalee..body language speaks a lot about a persons intentions...drug trafficers would not shock the world since most world knows it exists..what would shock some tourists is the local playboys, lotharios and how they operate in these clubs, with some waiters and bartenders..of course they are out to score a piece of a$$ not too too bad...its the pretenses they do it under that makes it bad..peace to all

In my opinion $100,000/$200,000 is not nearly enough money for someone to step forward and 1) hand over Natalee or 2) offer concrete evidence to her whereabouts in any shape or form. Why with all the people the Twittys/Holloways know would they offer such a small amount? Indeed, if someone 'big' had anything to do with this and if Natalee is still alive $200,000 is not near enought to incriminate themselves. Anyone remember AMY BRADLEY? Well, her parents have offered $250,000 for the last 7 + years for her or clues to her disappearance...she is still missing in the Carribean.

This money is coming from donations. It takes a lot of people to raise $100,000. Besides, some lowlife might betray another for that sum but not without it. If nothing else, it gets people thinking seriously about the matter.
