Natalee Holloway Update
It's been a frustrating day all around here - worse on the island, I'm sure. I forgot to mention one item in my ealier update.
Individual's observing the residence of Paul(us) and Anita Van der Sloot reported seeing no sign of activity yesterday. The metal front gate was locked. It is believed they are no longer staying in the home.
When the elder Van der Sloot was released it was "requested" that he not leave the island; however, his passport was not held. The most likely scenario is that they are simply staying elsewhere, perhaps due to vandalism first reported here.

Maybe Paulus is hiding from the Colombians or Greta.

I have been banned without warning from scaredmonkeys.com immediately after confronting a Dutch official.....I spoke no mistruths; I spoke only of probable repercussions.....I think the integrity of scaredmonkeys.com is to be harshly reconsidered..........if you should log in to scaredmonkeys do a search for grimer11 and let me know what you think......I'll be monitoring that site in the interim.

I just am lost on this whole thng - everyhting is so strange and it just gets weirder every day - I have commented before on one thing I don't get - why is it from the start beth holloway has went on tv over and over saying she knows certain individuals were involved and she knows more arressts need to be made but when asked to elaborate, she always dodoges a straight answer. This is not to undermine what she is going through but if it was my child, you'd think she'd be all over the news with what she knows.....how can she be worried about jeapordizing a investigation that is clearly a mess already? the police don't have a clue so if the mom knows things speak up!!!! anyone else think so? there is just something not right about any of this - it is all very odd

Scared Monkeys banned me too. If you have a different opinion than the moderators, they will ban you. At first I wondered why everyone had the same opinion. But now I know why! lol

Question. Anyone know what Reuben Trapenberg's actual, official, title is? What his official responsibilities are? He acts and speaks as though he was the prime minister of that kingdom down there. IMO he is a big part of the problem.
Thanks

there was nothing offensive(a ridiculous term).....nothing....just a direct hit in between the eyes of an obnoxiously terse, dismissive dutchman who stepped in but couldnt deal with the truth being told......those 3 (joran and the kalpoes) will be made to speak....now, or under the pain of death.

Hey Calista...I agree. There is something strange about Beth. I don't know how I would act, but all that running around the island putting prayer bracelets on kids: it is almost like she is looking for a lost pet.
I don't think it would matter what any of the family said, cause the case is already a mess. If they know something, spit it out!
I heard on FOX about an hour ago that more dogs are coming tomorrow. I don't know where the rumors start that the searchers have given up. But I was appalled at the stupid questions the anchor was asking the searcher.

I forgot about "Bagdad Bob" -- great analogy!

Or how about "Sargent Schultz" --"I Know Notting"
Posted by: wreck | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 12:26 AM
well sleuth glad I am not the only one who thinks things are weird....I mean I feel terrible for any mom who'd have to go through that but it is just strange the way she acts sometimes and all this talking in "code" about she knows mor eindividuals who should be arressted - I mean if it was me I would be all over every camera I could get to saying what I know - one thing that popped in my mind very briefly but I knew it didn't make sense for this case was the mothers who live for the attention gotten when something happenes to their children - but this is not that - it is just odd you sense the family knows much more than they are saying - they even threatened to "spill it" and all of the world would be "amazed" by what they know and they threatened this is the 3 suspects are released on monday....I just do not get it......this goes way beyond a date gone wrong I htink
Posted by: calista | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 12:27 AM
I think Beth is just a desperate Mom looking for her daughter and passing out the bracelets will help keep Natalee from being forgotten. I think she is afraid to say what she knows until she knows those boys have been charged. Maybe she is afraid they won't confess if she tells this info, who knows..
I agree about the anchors.. they do ask some stupid questions.. like "is it hard on you right know not knowing where Natalee is" ...well duh.. of course it is.. I think they are just trying to make the family break down in their interview. That would be a feather in their cap .
Posted by: Sarah | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 12:30 AM
Of course they know more than they can say on television. They have been threatened by the officials that if they say anything about the case that it will be a grave error and the murserers will get off. You have to remember that Beth and company have done the majority of the investigating not the Aruban polis. Beth has given all of her information to the polis but that action has NOT been reciprocated.
Posted by: Island Hopper | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 12:33 AM
if those 3 are released......they MUST be stalked, abducted, and tortured to tell the truth about what happened to Natalee Holloway......let's "get medieval on their asses"......it shant be difficult.
Posted by: grimer11 | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 12:36 AM
Calista:
Beth is saying only what she can so she doesn't jeopardize the case. Whatever she knows right now, it's in her daughter's best interest that she says nothing until either the case goes to trial or Natalee is found.
If she is haning out bracelets it's to keep busy and not go crazy, at least she feels she's getting out there and putting her daughter in prayer with everyone she comes across. There is nothing wrong with that.
What mother of a missing daughter has gone out and said whatever was on their mind out of frustration? No one I can think of? Look at the class and the composure that Elizabeth Smart's mom and Laci Peterson's mom had in the midst of their "three ring circus".
Just something for you to ponder...
Posted by: CancunGirl | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 12:39 AM
That will be left for the Aruban people to do.

Posted by: grimer11 | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 12:43 AM
I have no idea how Beth has held up. She has certainly garnered more respect than any woman I know. Not even some political wives could do that. It's because Beth knows what she has to do to keep Natalee on the radar and her sanity as well. She has faith, faith, faith and class extraordinaire.
I know I could not have done what she has done.

Joren wont be coming to the US or where I am going. He will be stuck in Aruba or Holland and the country that welcomes him will have to suffer his wrath. The same goes for PVDS and the Kalpoe boys and the rest of the pimp gang Joren was the leader of. That's my opinion based on everything I have learned and seen about him and his father. And a few other fathers on that island.
There is a sick mindset that women are sexobjects and toys. Fathers encourage their young sons to seduce young girls from very young and boast of their sons skills. They are all sick.
When this behavior gets one of the boys in trouble, they all help the others out. It's the good ole boys club in Aruba and it is built on alcohol, sex, gambling and a little power in the right places.

proudredneck:
I agree with your 100%. She is what has kept this story alive and everyone interested in finding Natalee. Her crusade will not end until she gets her daughter and takes her home.
When I watched her interview last night on Scarborough Country, I saw her break down and cry for the FIRST time on camera. She has kept her composure, her class and her determination. SHE and SHE alone has propelled this case as far as it has gotten and will continue to do so. We'll be watching..

grimer11 I seen your post and they are not bad. I do believe you jump to conclusions but so does everyone else on blogs. Everyone has a right to thier opinion on what happened. That blog belongs to someone so if they don't like what your posting they can block you. I guess all blogs are like that. I don't know... I am new to blogs

The more I think about it the more I think the school need to be searched. Both the old school and the new one.
If Joren was at school on Monday, maybe he spent the night there and that is why Paul suddenly can't remember if he woke Joran up for school.

Posted by: Island Hopper | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 01:03 AM
Big problem with this case (other than not being able to find NH dead or alive of course) is that if the authorities arrested every male local and tourist in Aruba that had sex with a female under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs they would need a MUCH larger prison there. And if a drug were involved (other than a drug used exclusively for date rape)there would be the matter of proving that the victim did not take the drug of her on free will. It is possible (but maybe not probable) the boys got rid of the body simply because they did not want to be associated with being with a female dead from a bad reaction to a drug when they were in the secluded place they were just to have sex with the girl. And then once they lied about it to start with, the only ones that are going to believe them after their first lie is their parents. Maybe the police have some evidence that will point to what really happened.

They need a bigger prison then.
Posted by: Island Hopper | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 01:17 AM
no "lake"....this case is VERY SPECIFIC......joran van der sloot, his sweaty father, the kalpoe brothers......very specific.....if/when they are released, capture them, ask them questions, and when their lies don't match up, kill them one by one, until they tell the truth....and even then maybe kill the "pimps".
Posted by: grimer11 | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 01:24 AM
It would help to have parents that actually teach their sons to respect females. Parents that do not teach their children to booze and gamble when they are underage and parents that do not teach their children that they are above the law.
The Van der Sloots are the most pitiful excuses for parents I have ever seen.

grimier11 what is it I want to confess about again?
Posted by: Island Hopper | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 01:30 AM
Y'all, please don't start knocking Beth Holloway Twitty. She is just doing all that she can to keep Natalee's name out there and let the Aruban dog and pont show of a PD and Gov. that she isn't going to go into hiding.
SHE HAS to stay out there day after day doing SOMETHING so that Natalee and her plight stays in the public eye.
Aruba would like her to go away and STOP passing out anything that reminds people of Natalee.
Lets don't be like them and start kicking this woman while she is at the lowest point in her life.
It might seem strange to you that she wants people to pray for Natalee, but maybe if it was your child you would look at it in a different light.

Juvenile justice
58. The Committee is concerned that in the State party:
(a) Children in conflict with the law between the ages of 16 and 18 may be sentenced as adults;
(b) An increasing proportion of children in conflict with the law in the Netherlands are being sentenced to detention;
(c) Juvenile offenders, in the Netherlands, are sometimes detained with children institutionalized for behavioural problems;
(d) There are limited alternatives to detention available in Aruba.
59. The Committee recommends that the State party:
(a) Ensure the full implementation of juvenile justice standards, in particular articles 37, 40 and 39 of the Convention, as well as the United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Administration of Juvenile Justice (the Beijing Rules) and the United Nations Guidelines for the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency (the Riyadh Guidelines), in the light of the Committee's 1995 day of general discussion on the administration of juvenile justice throughout the State party and for all persons under the age of 18;
(b) Amend legislation in the Netherlands and Aruba so that life imprisonment cannot be imposed on anyone between the age of 16 and 18 and fix a maximum limit for their detention;
(c) Ensure that the detention of juvenile offenders is used only as a measure of last resort;
(d) Avoid detention of juvenile offenders with children institutionalized for behavioural problems;
(e) In Aruba, expedite efforts to create more alternatives to detention for children in conflict with the law.

We've got a good helping of this at home too. If you don't think it has permeated OUR society, take a look at some of the misogynistic crap on MTV or BET that American girls are singing along to as if it were something romantic. I think Aruban youth are simply trying to emulate ours.

IHOP You are right on about the VDS's parenting skills. Who knows the boy might have turned out all right with a different upbringing, but with the one he got he sure didn't stand a chance. Imagine a father gambling and boozing it up with his underage son! Unconsionable!

It was obvious to me from hearing Mrs. Vandersloot on TV that she was one of those oppressed women who is unable to think for herself and is not cared for by her family. She seems to provide nothing for them but somone to depend on when the clock does not go off, when the bus runs, when the meals need serving. This woman cried like an indentured servant. She pretends to be a liberated woman with her art work, her travels and all that meditation crap...but she is pretty much a slave to that male-dominated household and it shone through like a large sun in the middle of a dark room.
