One of my questions has to do with the duct tape found here.
And if there was a "T-shirt" found in this search, as the AP originally reported.
Also, if you used duct tape to keep foam in someone's mouth, wouldn't that mean they were alive, alert and resisting?
And don't you usually only scale back a search so quickly after finding something?
Also found at that location was a piece of foam reported to have indentations one could interpret to be the impressions of human teeth and the item in the picture on left - a security guard shirt with the initials VGB. Note that the AP reported this as a tee-shirt. Also of note is that the search was scaled back the very next day.
So many questions.

Good observations. I do think they have known what has happened to Natalee for some time now. As I have said before the silence leads to speculation and speculation runs WILD in this case.

I was told that duct tape is used for wind surfing. A guy from Aruba said he used up almost a whole role to tape up his sail. Then gave the rest to 4 others to use on their sails.

Why bring up old information that has been discounted as having anything to do with the case? Since the date of this report and weeks thereafter the search has continued in earnest. I don't see how this information is relevant!

i'm just curious, dan, as to why you keep mentioning that the ap called this a t shirt? it seems to be something that you are harping on, either dropping a clue to us, without telling us what you may know about this shirt, *or*, you are just trying to point out that what the ap discloses is not always truthful...i'm not sure, but can't we just call it a shirt?
nice observations...hopefully it won't be too long before all of these puzzle pieces fit together.
hoping......

Does anyone know if there is a picture of the man who found the duct tape. Some say when they saw him on TV he also had some fabric which was blue and green.
I did not see him on TV but would like to see a "still photo" of him having the fabric.

Yes condoms, panties, duct tape, that was all there to begin with. Are you saying the evidence was always there? Or has there been DNA from the condoms found male and female, and DNA on the new piece found of the same tape and that is why they needed the Dna tests from the perps , I am sure forensics could figure that out. Some more hints here, huh.

Yes, so many questions!
I recall, it's been awhile though, mention of a security guard shirt being found and something about a bottle of Lysol???? Around that time, there was also mention of the foam thing.
Anyone remember that?

Dan,
Are these the same items that were found by the Aruban teen early in the case? I remember seeing him holding them up on TV or something but I never heard any more about them, so I assumed they were not related to Natalee. I thought finding these items was what prompted them to partially drain that pond.
Posted by: chance | Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 03:25 PM
I went to the CNN link and there isn't a word on it about NH.
Posted by: THolloway | Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 03:31 PM
Didn't some one state that the foam had teeth marks, and that was also attached to the duct tape. I also thought they found three condoms.

Do you think that the Arubians are setting off explosives in the London tube to get our attention off of Natalee and her name out of the news? :)

Bermuda limits machetes, the 'weapon of choice'

HAMILTON, Bermuda (Reuters) - Bermuda's government passed a law on Wednesday that would imprison people for at least three years for carrying machetes and similar bladed weapons in public to stem rising gang violence in the British territory.
Earlier this month, two girls were stabbed aboard a pleasure cruiser as rival gangs fought after the boat was hijacked and a knife was held to the captain's throat.

I am not sure what you are getting at.
But--I hope the impressions were compared to Natalee's dental records.

PAMY!!
I asked about this Bermuda thing last night .. no one seemed to know anything.. saw it on the crawl on fox.. But nothing on the net..
Do you know if it was just a boat or a major Cruise line...
What a shame Bermuda is my fav place in the world and have always felt completely safe there

1. trace back confession
2. get boy from aruba school to come forward on face bruise / scratch
3. cell phone calls that night - tap into them.
4. mountain brook kids hand over pics of joran and what he and the other boys were wearing that night. tell them to find those close. look for blood / dna
these are all things that need to be completed
most of all we should know who gave the confession statement. what was the persons name? does anyone know?

DH had said it was an anonymous tip from a dark haired man who came and tapped him on the shoulder - that told them to go look at the dug out place at the beach.
DH was asked if the man gave his name and DH said no.
Was the man the park ranger I have wondered?

So after these items were found, it was not determined they had no relevance to the case? Did this evidence just disappear down a black hole? If so why hasn't the MSM followed up on it? Were there no comments at all about these items from authorities after the discovery? If they had used condoms why did they not get DNa samples much earlier. I could go on......

To me this evidence seems far more important than the hairy duct tape, which will not reveal what happened to Natalee even if it comes back as Natalee's hair. Again I have to conclude we will never know the true story of what happened. If there is actually a cover up and it is this blatant, is there not someone who can intercede? I think it is clear that the police force in Aruba does not answer to the local government.
Posted by: chance | Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 05:33 PM
Thanks Pamy
I didt think it was a major cruise line...

Kyle,
All those questions have answers in past posts. You must be new to this site and this case. Do you homework, dude!
Posted by: rota | Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 06:12 PM
{{I think it is clear that the police force in Aruba does not answer to the local government.}}
you are right in this, and why should they answer to local government???
Politicians should head for the hills and shut their mouths when it comes to a case that is either still under investigation or under the judges.
Politicians are not meant to comment on individual cases. And local government must never interfere with an investigation.

You guys seem to be FORGETTING that Aruban LE DOES NOT reveal its findings to the press.
I find it VERY INTERESTING that the shirt found belonged to a SECURITY GUARD, and JVDS and the two Kalpoe brothers incriminated a SECURITY GUARD in their tale! Remember what Mark Furhman said about tidbits of truth within the lie? It fits!!
And Rammstein you have good taste in tunes. ;)
Posted by: brainybrunette | Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 06:56 PM
The security guard shirt looks planted to match their story, doesn't it....The panties found on the beach that were described as Granny panties....I wonder if they could belong to AVDS or Kalpoe mom.
Posted by: Perplexed | Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 07:06 PM
Could have been planted, although it would seem somewhat difficult to just HAPPEN to find a security guard shirt to plant, doesn't it?
Nit Wit Twitty drives me CRAZY with the "you know." She's the ONLY person on the planet who says "you know" more than Hitlery Clinton.
Posted by: brainybrunette | Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 07:08 PM
Maybe the shirt is what gave them the idea for the story...since Joran was missing when the police first arrived, and wasn't at the casino when they went to look for him, maybe he and one of the bros were planting evidence to support their story.

Ap reported as if they talked to the park ranger and the park ranger denies he ever talked to AP (did talk to local press). So how does that make their reporting? Is not the first mistake they made in this case isn't it?

Maybe the boys impersonated a security guard to get Natalee to go with them... If anyone saw them, the witness would even say it was a security guard. Maybe one of the boys wore that shirt. Maybe they found body hair on the shirt and they are testing the boys for a match.
Posted by: txview | Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 07:28 PM
And when their story started unraveling, they moved the body away from their planted evidence?
Posted by: Perplexed | Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 07:33 PM
Regarding if the boys were in fact in the area of The Colony that night. The police have the cell phone tracking info on the cell phones those boys had with them. If they were in the area of the Colony near the Colorado Lighthouse, rather than at the north end of the island near the California Lighthouse, the police know that. We do not know that because we do not have access to the cell phone central tracking data for that night. IMO if the things found in the area of the Colony early on were tied to this case, the police would have gotten DNA samples from the 3 boys long ago and not just recently.

Did anyone ever release whether the bones that were found were animal or human - or are they still sitting in a cooler waiting on Aruba to get off it's dead @ss and have them analyzed?
Posted by: To Hell With Aruba | Thursday, July 21, 2005 at 09:03 PM
It is probably safe to conclude that the police keep taking JVDS back to the area of the fishermen's huts, because that is where he tells them he left NH. It would probably be foolish to assume that he has not also told the police about another location that night and that this is just the last place that he says he saw her and that she was alive when he saw her last. My take is that he probably also told the police that NH was not conscious when he last saw her.
Like some here, I believe the case was blown when somebody (probably American FBI profiler) who jumped the gun and gave is own prosecution biase to the "confession" of JVDS a day or two after the three boys were detained. This "confession" was leaked to the AP and further cooperation for JVDS was effectively nonexistant after that.

Do you have any idea of the amount of trash 30,000 tourists on any given day can dump on that island? If you walk along any of the beaches on any morning you will see all kinds of crap.
If that duct tape or any of this trash has anything to do with this case it would be one chance in a trillion.
I think that the LE is frustrated with all of the press criticism... so they are starting to make of fuss out to the kind of trash they would have just discarded. I heard that same park ranger found another piece of duct tape with some red marks on it today... my, oh, my.
If you have ever been out at the beaches where the wind surfers play... you will see them binding on their caps with duct tape before they head out. End of the day... they strip that tape of their caps and toss it (darn polluting kids). If this tape is related to Natalee Holloway something is fishy.

Brunutjob-
I find nothing terribly bright about counting "you knows" when you can plainly see this woman is hurting. There's nothing "brainy" about a lack of compassion.
I bet you have some little something that others find disgusting, gross or ugly. How'd you like to lose a loved one in such a way, and have idiots like YOU say "Eeeeeeeeeeeeew! Spittle's forming around the corners of her mouth. How annoying."?

Just watched Greta show, and I now have reason to change my mind about the probability of NH being a drug user. My daughter is an instructor for 3 highschools with the dance squad colorguard field show teams. Kids involved in that activity must work too hard and put in too many practice hours to learn and execture those shows to be involved in any regular drug use. My daughter has been working for the past 10 years with the kids who are involved in this activity, and she says that it is most unlikey that Natalee Holloway could be drug user and stay on the squad. She says that those that drink regularly or do drugs don't usually make it through the tryouts. But if they do, their performance gets them cut in the first month. Based on that, I would say that the probability of NH being a drug user before she arrived in Aruba is very remote indeed.

But I still hold to my opinion that Jug Twitty as a complete moron when it comes to what can and cannot lawfully be done in an investigation and that many of his pronouncements on TV are counterproductive and do harm to an orderly and timely conclusion to the investigation.

VGB is a standard abbreviation for British Virgin Islands. It looks like there is other writing on it. Is there and if so what does it say?

There is a large commercial stoneworks in Denmark whose logo VGB - Naturstein looks a bit like the one on the shirt.

Hey, if Carlos 'n Charlie’s has served alcohol to an underage drinker -- which they obviously have (witness the pictures of the 17-year old Dutch boy in the bar posted on various websites), how come they still have a liquor license? In the states that would have been pulled in two microseconds, just to reaffirm commitment to have some modicum of enforcing the law. Apparently both Carlos 'n Charlie’s and the Holiday Inn Casino are either above youthful drinking laws, or the laws aren't enforced. Which is it?
