Here's a solid up to date report from The Daily Herald.
ARUBA--The Court heard five appeals on Tuesday against decisions of the examining judge in the disappearance of US teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba, with the rulings scheduled for Thursday afternoon ...
David Kock, the lawyer for Satish Kalpoe, said he was confident the younger brother would remain free. “There’s nothing new against my client,” Kock said outside the courthouse. “I’m speculating, but perhaps the prosecution wants to appeal for PR reasons.”
Meanwhile, Dutch Royal Navy Commander Jack Goense said the three F-16 fighter jets searching for the missing girl above Aruba since last week couldn’t find any indications that her body was still on the island. The three planes made 11 flights above the island, mapped its entire surface and scanned specific areas by order of the Aruban authorities.

I know i watch alot of movies.. but isnt it true if Lime is thrown on a body.. it destroys the odor?

about the gold mine: I don't remember if it was discussed here, but it was brought up on Scared Monkeys by some guy that lives on the island that they should look in a gold mine. he kept doing prophetic poetry like comments for us all to decipher. but it seemed he had knowledge of the crime and was hinting to us. does anyone remember that?

Point is, they can't (or couldn't) move her. All the more reason why the well must be CLEARED.
Again who uncovered the well? Or, in leyman terms, how did it surface? Did equasearch (via geotechnical logs or data) uncover it?

Pamy, it was a poster named Shango. Yes, he talked about alot of this and I don't think has been totally off on some of it. He dissapeared weeks ago from posting and never seen him on here since.
Shango Says:

They'll search an abandoned gold mine but won't search an abandoned well in a suspects back yard.
I give up......

lou,
I just can't imagine someone like the Sloot's,disposing of a body on their property.Could be I guess but I believe she was killed and then transported away where she won't be found.Far far away from the crime scene.Yoran and the brothers may have buried her in the beginning, but someone smarter came along with the know-how of getting rid of the evidence...I still hope her body will be found but I'm losing the faith it will be...:(
Posted by: k | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 05:18 PM
I have also felt from the start that PVDS had to have been involved in order for Joran to maintain his composure.
However, if the body WAS moved cadaver dogs would have a field day. The body would have to have gone into a car that the dogs have since sniffed (of course we don't really know if they got a positive on that or not), there has undoubtedly been DNA testing of car material (therefore irrelevant whether blood or hair or ?), and a judge would know that the more movement the greater risk.
So into a well on their own property? I'd be surprised. Where does the VDS water come from? Community pipes or a well? If from a well forget about dropping a body into the aquifer, even if it's an abandoned well.
If Natalee WAS buried at a site on the beach and there was time, what would seem more logical than the ocean? These people would know the currents and the local marine traffic. Why risk land disposal with such an option?

Big Pappy,
Shango knows, Big Pappy, he knows!!!! I hope he is o.k. Someone talked on Scared Monkeys about someone shutting him up and the others on Aruba that seemed to know about the crime.

shari, you must be pretty stupid if you think you've figured this out. And I can only hope for the family's sake that you haven't contacted them with these false hopes.

Geesh, any of you guys really know anything about wells? We're not talking about wishing wells. I assume it would have been some kind of artesian well, with a very narrow pipe. Remember the little girl that got stuck in an old well in Texas? I think it was about 15" in diameter. Really hard to stuff a body down a well!
Posted by: Karen | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 05:45 PM
Karen,
Not all wells are like this but I agree if it was 800 feet deep,it's logical that she isn't down it......
Posted by: Kelli | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 05:51 PM
Karen, Hold your "geeshes" ! In foreign countries, who knows what old wells are like. I lived in Turkey in a villa in Istanbul and had to beg to get a "wishing well" type well covered so my kids would not fall in. How about their septic systems, too?!
Posted by: pamy | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 05:56 PM
Does anyone know what next steps can be taken if Joran is released tomorrow or even if the Kalpoe brothers are left at large? Is there any contingency plan other than finding the body?
Posted by: Bonnie | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 05:57 PM
There is no way to put a complete body into an 800 ft or even 80 ft well, without having the body cut up into little pieces. The diameter of the capping pipe, and drilled channel is similar to a black stove-pipe or approx 20" in diameter give or take.
To move it, you'd have to collect all the little pieces from deep depths, which is simply impossible.
Even then, all one would have to do is test whatever water resides in or near the bottom of the well to see if it contains any decomposed tissue, bacteria, hair etc.
Most of aruba gets it's water from a de-salination plant that turns sea-water into fresh-water, which is probably why the well on this property is abandoned. No doubt, there are many abandoned wells in Aruba.
As for the point about needing to be 800 feet above sea level to be able to drill an 800 foot well....
well, you're kidding right?
Do you think the island is floating?
Posted by: Not a Hand Wringer. | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 06:04 PM
It was a theory and I ran with it. I am not familiar with the wells in Aruba. It was JUST a theory that should be looked into, nothing more.
Posted by: Shari | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 06:23 PM
I think that either they will all walk because there is no evidence or not enough evidence or they will be charged and tried with the poor evidence and let go. That has been the plan all along from father vandersloot and his cronies.
Posted by: pamy | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 06:29 PM
Why not ask daddy-Sloot for permission to search his property? Why would he object? Take a camera crew along.
TIM MILLER, TEXAS EQUUSEARCH: "Well, you know, it could be hopeless. But you know what, going back to the family's house, we brought in some special equipment to do wells and manhole covers and stuff. And I would love to get in their backyard, because I understand there's an abandoned well in their backyard that I certainly would like to put this equipment down into. So, I would hope somebody would honor us in letting us -- us in their backyard to do that. And if I get egg on my face, I get egg on my face. But you know what, I want to clear that."

I hate to admit this, but I was standing in line at the store last night and noticed there is an article on Natalee in the current National Enquirer. So, while waiting, I read it. It accurately laid out the facts that have been disclosed, but also stated that, according to an inside soiurce, the Aruban cops think Natalee died of an overdose of the drug Ecstasy (perhaps the tie in with the posting by Big Pappy above). Does anyone know about the effects of this drug taken in "normal" doses? Is it considered a "date rape" drug?
Posted by: DennisAOK | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 06:32 PM
The well was an old abandoned well and not their water source to the house. I have no idea how deep it truly is or if it is the old fashioned pull-up-a-bucket kind or not. We only have the information that Tim told us and not much more. I don't know where he got the info, but probably from the FBI team that is working with the H/T families.

It seems that Fox has run with quite a few theories posted here on these boards. The well theory is no crazier than the cemetery theory, or the incerating theory, or any others mentioned here. What harm is it to check out the well?
Posted by: Shari | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 06:33 PM
I feel they are under a tremendous amount of pressure to produce a body - and the judge will making a decision tomorrow. I just thought it was worth mentioning the well. Forgive me if you think I went overboard.

Comments to pitiful:
I think that you are the pitiful one. Maybe you don't love enough to know how it must feel to love your daughter. Beth is entitled to look, feel and talk to anyone she wishes and try everything in her power (even if it looks ridiculous to you) to get her daughter back and to let others know what could happen to their own children if sent to a place like Aruba with a totally different view of what an investigation is. If it looks to you like she is trying to draw attention to herself, it is because that is what you are projecting about your own personality onto her.
Leave her alone, she doesn't need you negative attitude.

If the Sloots had their home ransacked by the cops, his backyard is also fair game. So myguess is they could go in anytime. He can't restrict them. After all, if he isn't suspect, why was his home searched, cars & computers impounded and bags of stuff taken?? Unles outside property is off limits or if it's located somewhere esle??
Great posts by the way! Stimulates the discussion..

no not at all -are different ecstasy pills, different doses-heightens feelings of pleasure, energy, makes everything look very beautiful and appealing, all "halowy" -people either want to dance like crazy or sit there and admire each other and enjoy the feeling, there's always a very big desire and need to touch, skin feels amazing to the touch. You need to chew down all the time so need gum. You need a lot of water and are at much greater risk of dehydration. Too much can make your heart race and make you feel sick and uncomfortable-or even have a panic attack-an overdose can lead to death for many reasons, dehydration, raised blood temperature. It also can have dangerous permanent consequences on the brain. I don't see how it can be used as date rape-either you're wide awake and enjoying or passed out and dying I think

You are right Terry about Pitiful.. that name fits him/her perfectly . There wouldn't even be an investigation if Beth had not gone to the media. And Shari I think your theory about the well is very possible especially since Tim Miller wants to search it. Anything is a possiblity now. And I think since Joran is a suspect and in jail, they should be allowed to search that area without Pops ok. If he has nothing to hide, why prevent the search?

You didn't go overboard Shari ... it is just pretty obvious they need to clear it. Why did you think Tim said that? Do you not think they know to check it? What do you think they are trying to do.
Writing the family on something this obvious is a bit much ...

Not a Hand Wringer:
Water seeks its own level. Aruba is too small to have powerful underground steams that would create backup water resevoirs. As an islander from an island about the size of Aruba, water ... fresh water ... is found around sea level to be exploited by veritcal wells. And yes, there are horizontal wells on islands that capture mountain runoffs and filtrations. It seems unlikely that the posts are taking about an 800-foot, island well that contains fresh water. Despite its depth, to me, that distance would place the well below the filtration line for fresh water. Then again, I'm not a geologist.

An 800 foot well in the back yard of a low level judge in training on a 70,000 inhabitant volcanic-core limestone island....
L.O. f*&^in' L!!!
Do you know how deep 800 feet is? The 60 story skyscraper I used to work in was 800 feet tall, for crying out loud!
There ain't no "800 ft. well" on the VanderHomo property. Sheez, how stoopid can you folks get.
Posted by: Kangaroo | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 09:02 PM
Shari,
Personally, I think you are very "on the ball", so to speak. :)
Annie, you are brilliant! :)
I have premonitions and prophetic visions. Have not mentioned it before. Sometimes I am right, sometimes I am not.
But I have been getting a similar vision as some other "seers' have, that she IS on the island, and in some kind of a container. To me it seems circular, like a barrel or something like that...round around her. She's wrapped in something...a blanket? maybe a tarp.
Dark. Damp.
That's all I get.
I "think" (different from "I see") the mystery is pretty much solved....I think she was in the middle of an OD after being date-rape-gang banged by all three boys (thats why they are not talking) and The Kalpoe did leave Nat alone with Joran...then Joran called dad for help...after that, not sure...but the well is a very very strong possibility...if Tim thinks she might be there, then she may very well be there.

The 800 ft. depth was most likely confused with the depth of a gold mine, as mentioned in another blog.

I find it to be beneficial to enforce personal-restraint when responding to the many aforementioned posts made by those geologically-challenged, concerning the existence of an 800-foot well on the van der Sloot property. Reality often eludes common sense.

and still nobody believes my story that her body is gone. it dissappeared in the carribean sea, that's why the quote: "no body, no crime"
the risk would be higher if they buried her somewhere on the island.

Nobody said factually that the well was 80 or 800 ft. deep. But supposedly, there IS a well that has not been checked.
Posted by: Shari | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 09:57 PM
I want Natalee to be found, but this discussion is ludicrous. I live near the coast in the US, and NO WAY could an 800 foot well be dug. You go down just a little way and you hit the tide. No one even has basements. So forget about a deep well - on an island that's just nuts.

Is it possible to get DNA from a hole in the sand - a month old of course - to verify a person was dead? If so, would that suffice for a dead body?
Posted by: To Hell With Aruba | Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 10:40 PM
I live on an island in Puget Sound near Seattle that is smaller than Aruba. We have an 1100 ft. deep well on our property.
So it is, indeed, possible that the Van den Sloots have an 800 ft. well. I say they let the Texans search it!

Silly...a well 800 feet? on an Island? what were they drilling for? Oil?
I have two..one is called a shallow well..at 30 feet and keeps good water.
the other is 120 feet and is considered deep well in Texas.
So 800 feet and to what purpose? certainly not to reach fresh water..
Now if its a drilled well..as in how they drill for oil..with maybe a 4 " pipe to drop a pump into...couldn't get a body in it.
and If its a "shallow well" say 30, 40 feet well that's easy to search ..

Lemmy:
I believe that I am vaguely familiar with all the islands the size of Aruba around Puget Sound, even those into British Columbia, and I doubt any of those islands extend upward a 1100 feet above sea level. We are talking fresh water wells. Puget Sound has some oil wells up in the Sandy Point area near the Canadian border.

I think its possible that someone took a boat and dropped her off at sea, far enough away so the body wouldn't come back. Perhaps that is why the father is so sure there is no body. Maybe the dogs should sniff all the boats on the island.
