A commenter stated that on MSNBC's Scarborough Country tonight Joe Scarborough reported that an eyewitness saw Joran Van der Sloot punch Natalee Holloway in the face. A call to MSNBC has confirmed that the report did air. However, I was not able to confirm Scarborough's source for the story. I've been informed it should appear in the show's transcript tomorrow.

This is the 46th day since Natalee Holloway has been seen. 46 days are way too many for a parent to endure not knowing what happened to their child. 46 days are way too many for the world to see just how incompetent the officials/citizens of Aruba are at handling a situation like this.
With so many people from outside of Aruba involved in trying to find out where Natalee is or what happened to her, isn't it interesting that the people who know the facts who live on this island have no conscience to disclose any information to assist in this investigation? The consequences of the choices of these people who know what happened or are involved in Natalee's fate are going to be with them for the rest of their lives. If these people had any sense of integrity left, it's time to inform the authorities of the truth of the happenings 46 days ago and allow a family to have closure and allow Aruba to recover from the effects of their self-destruction.

If anyone involved had a conscience then Natalee Holloway would be in Alabama right now and we would all be talking about something else.
I don' think they care what they did to her or feel any remorse at all.

Well now, Natalee Holloway had a core group of friends that she was hanging out with in Aruba and until that part of the equation is dealt with in depth, the truth of this matter is likely never going to be known and this case will not be resolved. The only reason given for extended holding of Joran is that he says that he was the last of the three boys with Natalee and he has changed his story about how he got home that night. Joran has agreed with the Kalpoe brothers that they dropped him off with Natalee at the beach.

Blue Dog:
Did I miss something?
Didn't Joran, Depak and Satish originally lie that they dropped Natalee off at the Holiday Inn leading to the arrests of the two security guards who appear to be innocent?
They are all three lying and they all three know what happened to Natalee.
Since Beth Holloway Twitty cannot say it in Aruba without fear of being sued under their Third World judicial system I will say it here.
THE KALPOE BROTHERS ARE CRIMINALS.
JORAN VAN DER SLOOT IS A CRIMINAL.
Thank you. I feel much better now.

JORAN LEFT NATALEE ON THE BEACH.........SHE WAS MURDERED BY ONE OF HER SCHOOLMATES. CASE CLOSED.....JORAN IS INNOCENT.

Blue Dog,
You said it right there. Usually, the last person that says they are with a missing person is the first person that will be considered a suspect or "person of interest".
It's my understanding that this last person with Natalee Holloway was also released from initial questioning and not considered a suspect because he pointed the interest into another direction, giving himself enough time to cover up any evidence which would prove his invovlement.
After the two black security guards were questioned and released, that brings us back to the last person that admitted to being with Natalee Holloway that evening. Joran van der Sloot.
I've read your comments above and you seem to think that the friends of Natalee could have something to do with her disappearance. My question to you is this. Why would a group of students out on a 3 or 4-day trip to Aruba after graduation have foul play on their minds?
I don't think so. You're barking up the wrong tree, Blue Dog. You seem to be playing the same game that you're saying Joe Scarborough is playing.
Look at what is known. Look at the credibility of the person in custody. I rest my case.
Posted by: Pamo | Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 07:59 PM
No question that the 3 boys were involved with Natalee Holloway that night and something bad happened to her that likely ended her life. The question to be answered with evidence is, was what happened that likely ended her life a crime.

Mandingo:
You are a freaking genius. Thank you for bringing to our attention something that never occurred to anyone before.
There is a mountain of evidence to indicate that Natalee was found on the beach by an MBHS student who just had to wonder into her because after she left C&C's the only people on the planet who knew with certainty where she was were Van Der Sloot and the Kalpoes.
I a rage the MBHS student murdered her just because he/she got bored and needed something to do.
Then the master criminal managed to hide her body and get rid of all physical evidence.
Your theory makes perfect sense to me.
You are a goddamn idiot.
Posted by: JustMe | Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 08:05 PM
And those that accept the part of the story that Joran was dropped off at the beach near the Marriott by the Kalpoe brothers are good candidates for just about anything someone tosses your way.

In response to Blue Dog's:
No question that the 3 boys were involved with Natalee Holloway that night and something bad happened to her that likely ended her life. The question to be answered with evidence is, was what happened that likely ended her life a crime.

Since you have no question as to whether or not these three boys were involved in the fate of Natalee Holloway that night, but it is questionable whether or not what ended her life was a crime, don't the circumstances leading up to this point give you the answer?
Come on. "No body -- no crime"; pointing the finger at two black security guards; all three boys dropping her off at the Holiday Inn; later stating that Joran and Natalee were dropped off at the beach by the Marriott; the latest story saying Joran and Natalee were at the fisherman's hut ... Joran walking home, then Depak picking him up ... lie after lie after lie, story after story after story. Seems like a red flag to me.
Even if Natalee met some sort of accidental fate, the lies and cover ups are of themselves injust and criminal. What a horrific injustice to the country of Aruba has been committed by these three boys.

On FoxNews as I type this, Bill O'Reilly is speaking with Arubian Investigative Reporter, Dilma Arends, regarding other evidence that was introduced in today's decision to keep Joran van der Sloot in custody.
This evidence was brought about through the investigation of the cell phone records of Joran and Depak. It's now been noted that Joran van der Sloot's arrival to his home was about 4:00 a.m. It's been confirmed that Depak went home much earlier (probably as he stated after dropping Joran and Natalee off wherever), however, this new evidence now proves that Depak left his home again sometime afterward.
Wonder what these boys were up to in the early hours of Monday morning. And, Joran, having school the next day. Could only be up to something no good.
Posted by: Pamo | Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 09:03 PM
The point I am making is that it appears to be a give that Joran and Deepak were with Natalee to exploit her for sexual purposes. Something that is likely very common in Aruba and something that the two had done on previous occassions with other female teenage tourists with no consequences. But this time, something went bad. This something bad likely has to do with a drug IMO. And if Natalee Holloway had taken some other drug before she was with the 3 boys and the drug she took or was given while with the boys caused a bad reaction that resulted in her death?
Then they would have a dead female American tourist on their hands with whom that had likely just had sexual relations.
IMO that is why that core of friends from MBHS that Natalee hung out with in Aruba is very important to this investigation. And could anyone really believe that they have to say any more than what the 3 boys have been saying about their time with Natalee Holloway?

Just for the record, mixing too much GBH with too much alcohol is a deadly combination.
Posted by: JustMe | Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 09:51 PM
If there is evidence that Deepak went back out why isn't he back in jail?
This case is so screwy I can't even stand it anymore.
I almost wish the Aruban police would just give up and admit they can't make the case so whatever evidence there is can be made public and the Hollowways can start to deal with their loss.
Posted by: LetsHelp | Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 10:36 PM
Of course too much GHB can take one's life. Problem here is that there is no body to test for durgs and likely never will be. So what the 3 boys have to say about that and what the core group of MBHS kids have to say about any prior drug use by them and Natallee will be key in any trial without a body, and maybe with a body if it is found. And a judge might have difficulty putting much fath in what either group had to say about drugs.
Posted by: Blue Dog | Thursday, July 14, 2005 at 10:45 PM
What is GBH drug? Can somebody explain please. My era was in the 70's, so not aware of GBH?

Whoops..reverse letters..what is GHB drug? And I just got new glasses today. Actually, tired eyes from reading all the blogs..explain this high and why so dangerous with alcohol?

Explains what is GHB incase anybody else is not aware of it either. FYI.

I am WAY too involved in this case, but I just can't help it. And my opinion seems to change daily based on each new puzzle piece that comes into play.
All of the posting below is pure speculation and my opinion only.
I think Natalee rebuffed Joran more than once over the last few days of her trip. And since he sees himself as a Casanova (and he's a sociopath), he decides he's going to teach her a lesson. (HE picks the ladies; they don't pick him, and God help the one young lady who rejects him.)
He plots his revenge. Maybe he's been drinking all day. He goes to C&C's, stalks Natalee, maybe plays nice with her, gets her to dance with him. He slips a drug in her drink. He carves her out from her friends at closing and moves her towards a waiting "taxi." She's just blurry enough that she's passive. Or maybe he did some shoving (one witness). Off they go in the car.
Deepak and Satish think they're going to be part of a gang rape with a pretty but unconscious tourist who's leaving in the morning. This is probably NOT the first time an incident like this has happened, albeit not resulting in death.
They go to some place very private (a private beach by the fishermen's hut, Joran's little suite?) and while she's limp and unconscious, Joran rapes her. The brothers rape her. Then Joran starts to rape her again and she starts to come around. As she becomes more conscious, she is upset, hysterical and Joran starts to knock her around (to remind her who's boss). The Kalpoes get nervous and try to intercede. This is NOT going the way they expected or the way it has gone in the past. She fights back. Joran goes NUTS, him being a sociopath and all, and beats her, finally strangling her. The Kalpoes watch in horror. Now they have a dead body to deal with. Joran, the bully, is still in charge and says, We will bury her in the sand somewhere nearby. The Kalpoes go along with his plan because they are shocked to find themselves caught up in a murder now and don't know what else to do. I picture Joran giving crisp orders to them, "Satish - go to the fishermen's huts, get some duct tape and rope from the huts," and telling Deepak - go take that cover off that boat. They wrap her in the cover and close it with rope and duct tape. Natalee Holloway has been reduced to a package and placed in the trunk.
Joran, still thinking clearly, remembers a good spot which is easily accessible from the road for burial place. He's been there many times before and knows the site is easy to locate but not in full view, behind bushes or something. He's comfortable at the site.
They drive to the location and pull the car off the road a little, hiding it. They dig a hole in the sand three or four feet deep, put her in the hole, cover it back up with the sand and more sand. They stamp around on it, fluff the sand up to make it look more normal, brush it over.
Deepak takes Joran home, then takes Satish home trying to calm him down. Satish is very scared and shaky. They clean out evidence in the car as best they can in the middle of the night. Deepak and Satish are very nervous now about the incident, very afraid, can't believe it happened the way it did.
But, at his home Joran isn't nervous; he is excited and high from the experience. He's beaten people up before: his brothers, pushed his mother around a few times, killed a dog maybe; nothing ever made him feel as powerful as this. It's not hard to get up for school; he's pumped.
He goes to school and can't resist the impulse to brag that he was with Natalee and scored! Joran the MAN!
Deepak and Satish are sober, ashamed, very scared.
Joran opens his big mouth at school and then the school master calls Daddy about Joran's bragging about his sexual escapades with an American tourist?
After school Joran is confronted by Daddy and is forced to admit what happened to Natalee. Joran respects his father, the only person in the world he does respect. Paulus sees his worst fears realized. He knew this kid had problems but he hoped they weren't this bad. Now Joran has finally hurt someone, killed someone.
Daddy finds out Steve the DJ gave the drugs to Deepak who gave the drugs to Natalee (or to Joran to give to Natalee)and he tells Joran, bring this group to the house as soon as possible.
Everybody gathers around the pool. Daddy helps them compose a story straight that explains some bruises on the girl (if it should become necessary). Daddy tells them, hopefully no one will even put you boys together with the girl or they'll think she ran away or something.
And let me tell you something, if you are questioned, you follow this story about dropping the girl at the Holiday Inn because ultimately, you have this Ace in the hole: No body, no crime.
Afterwards, Daddy thinks some more about the implications of this and confides in his buddy, the polis chief, who maybe owes Daddy a favor or two. The PC says, no problem. Have the guys mention they turned her over to a security guard or something. Have the boys say she was coming on to Joran, make her look as bad as you can, say she was very, very drunk, drugged maybe, coming on to Joran, etc. Say she'll turn up in a day or so from some crackhouse. Or better yet, maybe they'll find her in a crackhouse.
Mr. PC decides to check out the burial plot. The place looks good to him; in fact, PC cannot identify a grave anywhere. So far, so good, he thinks. He's not worried; they can keep a lid on it. No one will ever find the body.
Then all hell breaks loose; Beth Holloway Twitty and her influential friends come to the island with good info and connections and find Joran's house, going to local polis station, asking for help to confront Daddy.
Daddy finds the cops at the door in the middle of the night. Now, since Daddy is no dummy, he wanted to give Joran some time to her about this new development. So, he tells the polis and BH and friends that Joran is gambling at the Wyndham gambling.
Then instead of the polis asking to search the house first, or leaving some cops at the house to guard it and/or calling the Wyndham security people to look for Joran, they - the cops and Daddy leave the house unattended (!) and go to the Wyndham.
Daddy made a cell call to Deepak to warn Joran about the polis involvement. When the polis and the H-Ts get back to the VDS house, Joran has "showed up" with his good buddy Deepak.
Now, Joran in his sociopathic state isn't worried at all. Daddy and his influential friends are going to take care of everything.
So even though he's confronted, he's not scared in the least. He is so confident that he feels powerful and insulting in the presence of this suffering family. "What do you want me to do? What do you want me to do!" hitting his chest.
All the players in the cover-up hunker down and wait. Mr. PC calms Daddy's fears by saying, don't worry, if we have to, we'll arrest a couple of security guards; that will make the Americans go home.
But the Mericanos DON'T go home, they get louder and more persistent. Then the Mericano media comes and wants answers. The story escalates exponentially day by day.
The security guards have to be released finally; they have alibis.
The polis (not the PC) start a real investigation due to all the scrutiny and come to the conclusion to arrest and hold the three boys.
Now the regular polis are not involved in the cover-up, so they interrogate the boys who, while changing stories, do not crack. It's obvious to the LE that the boys are all lying. In fact, Joran enjoys playing with the minds of the investigators - after all, they are just stupid cops. And Daddy has a full-proof escape system planned for them. If they keep their mouths shut, and no body found, there is no crime.
While they are all held, the stories change with the wind but no one will tell the whole truth. They repeat their mantra: Keep quiet. No body, no crime.
However, after time passes and the Judge releases the Kalpoes, the brothers begin to see that while they WERE at the scene of the crime and they were involved in the kidnapping and rape, not to mention the drugging, they NEVER intended for Natalee to die. And it starts to eat away at them.
They are very afraid of Daddy VDS's powerful friend/s. But after they are out of jail, they begin to think, why are we aligning ourselves with this guy? And the polis are coaching them forward little by little.
Especially Satish feels this; he's just a boy and doesn't know how he got into this mess.
Even Deepak has second thoughts now about his loyalty to Joran and begins to see Joran as a sociopath.
So while Joran continues to tell 14 to 16 versions of what happened to Natalee Holloway, (because, after all, these cops are incredibly stupid and Joran can outsmart them at every turn, the Kalpoes start to rethink their position and decide they want to help the investigation.
Once they were released from prison (maybe after being promised if they cooperated they'd be freed) and after reconnecting with their mother who is an honorable woman and has raised them to be thoughtful and honest, they decide they will begin cooperating with the polis because they don't like the people they've turned into.
Not like Joran, who has never felt more powerful in his life. He loves the attention. He is basking in the glory of his brilliant coup. He fixed that bitch; that'll teach her to mess with Joran van der Sloot!
I think the investigators and the prosecutor's office KNOW the polis chief may have helped Daddy cover this up, but although they suspect it, they have to prove it and they can't. And that's why the Curacao judges decided these latest appeals in the manner they did. The Curacao judges have no allegiance to PVDS or the PC. In fact they want this to come to a close and let the island quiet down for ALL its extracurricular activities.
I think the three judges agreed based on some very strong (but secret to us) evidence that implicates Joran. The judges know the investigators and the prosecutors are putting all the pieces together to charge EVERYBODY involved in this down. They need the Kalpoes to spill the beans and they will eventually.
The interrogators know Joran is a sociopath who killed this young American tourist and it is Joran who brought all of this turmoil down on Aruba, not Beth Holloway. The investigation will spread out to include the people who are attempting to help cover up the crime.
I think the prosecutor will win in the end. She is laying a strong foundation to attack the cover-up as well as the murder.
I think the Kalpoes are going to be singing like canaries in the next couple of weeks and the location of Natalee's body will be revealed as well.
And Joran VDS will be convicted of the murder of Natalee Holloway.
But even after he is convicted, Joran will still blame Natalee for making him do this to her and ruining his life and his daddy's life. Although Mommy and Daddy VDS are the enablers who made this kid the psychopath he is, they will always believe in him and defend him.
But Daddy knows what happened and that his son killed Natalee Holloway, and that's why he was perspiring so profusely in Greta's interview. He was being forced to face up to his son's brutality in front of the woman whose daughter was his victim.
I don't think Daddy is by nature an evil man. But he is a father who cannot accept that his beloved son is a sociopathic murderer who should not be loose.

I agree with grammydeb's version completely. I couldn't have described it better.

Grammydeb, you are one smart cookie! I have kept abreast of this case since day #1 and had developed a similar timeline/story. VDS is nothing but guilty, the Aruban Polis have bungled this (likely due to Judge-to-be VDS), and AMERICA needs to inflict some pressure on this cozy little corrupt island . If we can invade IRAQ for imaginary WMDs, then our government sure as hell should be able to apply SIGNIFICANT pressure on ARUBA to fess up and let the professionals take over! Maybe Joran needs shock treatment or his pe_ _s cut off to remember what really happened that night. Regardless, this is one of our fellow coutrymen (and a woman at that), and we must defend our citizens, regardless of where they are!

Am I the only one out here who is wondering why Natalee's close friends are not questioned - nor are they ever part of any interviews?
Beth Halloway seems to dodge the subject everytime Greta asks her anything in regard to Natalee's close friends.
Her close friends are the girls you see her
with in the majority of the pictures. Why are they being protected???????????

Today is Sunday, July 17. Today's news reports have stated that now there have been 4 blond hairs found on duct tape somewhere in a remote area of Aruba. These findings are being sent back to Holland today for analysis.
Anybody heard of anything more regarding this?

Hey Grammydeb! You go girl! I think much of your speculations could be true. Now, if only, they could prove some of this. Patience ... and time will tell!
The truth will prevail in this case. It always does. It may take longer than the impatient can deal with, but this mystery will unfold itself.

Has anyone watched the last pictures of Joran when the police took him back to the beach and he came around the front of the car with handcuffs on and hit the car with his fists? Was this frustration or just his temper coming out again?
