Interesting, to say the least. From an email.
Beth and Jug Twitty have announced that the reward for the Safe Return of Natalee has just been upped to a million dollars, no questions asked. Although anonymity is illegal under Dutch Law, the Twitty's lawyer Vinda de Souza confirmed that all tips will remain anonymous.
The 100,000 reward leading to the whereabouts of Natalee dead or alive remains the same.

I wonder if they have uncovered some info which leads them to believe she is still alive?

I wonder where the million dollars is coming from. That is a substantial increase from the $200,000 posted just last week.

"Money talks!" They'll get some information now!
Posted by: Ria | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:06 PM
The $1 million has a nice ring to it and catches people's attention, even if they never have to pay it. The $100k is what they will have to pay, and remains unchanged.

They get the money from donations...and I find it interesting because if someone where to return her alive (which is very unlikey) but c'mon would they really get the money...its all a waste of time and effort I think.
Posted by: newsjunkiegirl | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:08 PM
Who cares where its coming from....
Posted by: NewYawkGirl | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:08 PM
Here's to hoping that some new information has caused them to bump it up :)
Posted by: Big Pappy | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:09 PM
Heres to hoping they get to give that Million to someone!!!
Posted by: NewYawkGirl | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:10 PM
Beth has always held out hope for Natalee being alive.
And there is still not any definitive evidence that she is not alive. Even if the duct tape has her hairs or the torn fabric is her's she could still be alive somewhere.
So this million is a good idea just in case....
There is still that possibility. Though it appears to me it is not likely.
I can still hold that hope and do make it my prayer as well.
Posted by: AkekoaHoAlethia | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:11 PM
right on dennisaok, my thoughts exactly. but i wish they ended up paying that to someone. wishfull thinking?
Posted by: pamy | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:15 PM
I am confused on something...I've read that Joran confessed early on to burying Natalee in the sand - on the beach; then he tells his Mother and the Police in another breath that he did not harm her! How many stories can this kid come up with?? He needs a good smack across the face! Did he ever take a lie detector test? Or is that not allowed either in Aruba? Beth WILL NOT give up. It seems that they are trying to get her to! You go Beth!!! You have my utmost respect. I would be doing the same thing if I were in your shoes! The whole thing is a bit fishy!
Posted by: Ria | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:17 PM
Watch it now folks! The feeding frenzy will begin. Those tight friends who are keeping it hush hush? (which I suspect) would be fools not to take the opportunity to clear their conscience, get a HUGE sum, and I would also add to that:
Anonymous tipster gets transport off the island to an indisclosed location.
( in essence, a new life )
Posted by: FloridaPatty | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:26 PM
Actually, I wondered why they didn't say ONE MILLION $$$$ for her safe return at the BEGINNING. Money does talk. I hope she is dropped off tonight. PLEASE PRAY WITH ME FOR THAT!!!!! To me having duct tape with her hair or torn clothes didn't mean that she was dead - more like she was alive. Why would you take duct tape off or clothes off a dead body????
PRAY FOR NATALEE'S SAFE RETURN TO BETH, DAVE AND FAMILIES :)
Posted by: joyce | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:26 PM
Joyce I would guess that time and how things have evolved have lead to this moment in time and the one million.
Posted by: FloridaPatty | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:29 PM
if somone new something in order to recieve the money, I don't understand because wouldnt they get in trouble for not comming foward instead of recieveing a million dollars?? i dunno
Posted by: newsjunkiegirl | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:32 PM
We probably shouldn't read too much into this, it could be a ploy or it could be further denial on the families part. We don't know what it is.
Posted by: Midge | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:33 PM
Forgive me for not keeping up, I have been in and out of this Blog periodically and updates have progressed so rapidly.
Has it been confirmed the hair and fabric were Natalee's? Please confirm.
Posted by: Caty | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:37 PM
pamy,
We all wish it.
Posted by: DennisAOK | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:40 PM
Does anyone know if this $1M reward is factual? I can't find anything on it except here and nataleeholloway.net still says it is $200K???
Posted by: Just Asking | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 04:41 PM
Hair on duct tape was not Natalee's according to Dutch press and Aruban radio.
The fabric story has not been reported in the MSM; therefore, I doubt it was fabric from her shirt.

Maybe the theory of Dan in TX is true? Find that oil tanker!!!

a substantial amount of the money is the result of many, many fund-raising events here in birmingham/mountain brook.
Posted by: bamaguy11 | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:04 PM
bamaguy11,
Having done a litle fund raising myself, I can tell you the small contributions (and I have given to the Holloways and EquuSearch on Natalee's behalf) don't raise substantial money. For that you need to get a few big donors on board. Still, every little bit helps.
Posted by: DennisAOK | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:08 PM
AMEN NEWYAWK GAL
SOL ROSENBERG YOU HAVE A PM
DAN GET SOME REST PLEASE
Posted by: ((((MrsJimiHendrix)))) | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:08 PM
anon: maybe the fabric is so obviously hers they are keeping it a secret, as all the other good stuff is for the case not to get ruined before it goes to court.
Posted by: pamy | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:09 PM
Hey Mrs J
Whats your gut on this? 1million!! Gives me hope...
Posted by: NewYawkGirl | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:09 PM
just asking...
scaredmonkeys posted the 1M reward earlier.
I suspect it is factual. Also, I believe the amnt. (AND TERMS) is meant to specifically target and get someones attention. Literally.
Dan in TX, where are you?
Posted by: outraged | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:11 PM
At this point, I would contribute my money to finding out who is involved; just as many have done to accumulate the $1 million! Those are GOOD people! This family needs closure NOW!! I too wish that the $1 million was put out there earlier. I just wonder if things would have progressed quicker! How awesome would it be if she is alive though; and reunited with her family. It could happen. Look at the Elizabeth Smart story! Everyone just say a prayer for a happy ending to this emotional/scary situation!
Posted by: Ria | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:14 PM
Ruby, HUH???
Posted by: Ria | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:17 PM
I doubt that if the witness who said he could lead them to Natalee's body was legit that her family would up the reward for her safe return.
$1 million ought to refresh some people's memories...
Posted by: Anonymous | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:22 PM
I have to wonder if this is just rumor or if it's from a reliable source. The nataleeholloway.com website still states a $200K reward.
Posted by: Carolyn | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:39 PM
Ruby your sick. and now, There are a lot of very weatlhy families in Birmingham and all over Alabama. Us Southern people tend to help each other. Donations of large amounts isn't hard to believe. I do believe if she were found alive they would pay the money, why not. They are not playing games they want their daughter. And I think that people were afraid to talk until they knew the FBI and PI were really involved, kind of a way to let Beth know things without facing the local officials. I think all of Aruba probably reads the blogs to see what people think. Anyway I pray she could be found alive. And pray for her family to have the strenght to keep looking until they do find her. There is always something left and the FBI are good at finding that something no matter how small.
Posted by: lin | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:42 PM
Ruby, did you quit taking your medication? Shame on you!!
Posted by: Carolyn | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:45 PM
speak english ruby so we can all understand you! are you a bit "angry" about something? if you lost a child - wouldn't you do "anything and everything" in your power to TRY and find someone dear to you??? get the chip off your shoulder. till you walk a mile in someone elses shoes - SHUT UP!!!
Posted by: Ria | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:55 PM
That certainly is wonderful that there are so many kind, generous people out there!
Posted by: SeattleGirl | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:59 PM
I can't find anything on any of the news stations or internet sites (fox news, cnn, msnbc, etc) that have anything about the million dollar reward. I am not saying it's not true..I just can't find any proof of it. I will keep watching Fox to see.
Posted by: Terri | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 05:59 PM
YIKES!!! Does anyone know what language this Ruby is speaking?? Fly away bug!!!!

Ruby:
I think has been isolated for a long time from the human heart. This is my only response to Ruby, because I have better things to do than to waste my time on someone with an IQ below my dog.

Methinks "Ruby" is a member of ytmnd.com, the group of unfunny morons that spammed all the NH chats. Why? Because "Ruby's" mantra is nearly word for word, down to the bad spelling and overuse of "housewife" they used on a daily basis. Self-aggrandizing, self-righteous, self-important. Yep. And if it is them, they'll just get worse before they get better. So Dan, batten down the hatches.

Go "On the Record" weeknights at 10 p.m. ET
The reward for information leading to Natalee Holloway's (search) safe return has been increased to $1 million. Will it generate any new leads? We'll ask Natalee's mother, Beth Holloway Twitty, and Natalee's stepfather, George "Jug'' Twitty.
(Just read that on Foxnews.com)

Somebody wanted proof that the award money went up to $1 million...there ya go!
Posted by: Ria | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 06:14 PM
LittleC, I spent about, oh, seven days in the same room with them, and inbetween all their spam, this is exactly the same sentiment they were posting. About housewives being wannabe PIs, and the boring attempts at being hip, such as "think before you breed." Go read their forum at www.ytmnd.com. Search "Natalee." You will see they do two things - 1. Disrupt boards and chat rooms on purpose, and 2. Express nearly all the same "thoughts" as Ruby.

Ruby,
Would you like me to locate a counselor for you?
You need some anger management as well.
