This is, ...well, just strange.
I'm happy to see a web log credited with shedding light on the Latoyia Figueroa case and didn't really know that they are the reason for it, according to the article linked above. And hopefully it refutes some notion of racial bias on the part of web loggers I've seen in comments. The term "progressive blog" does give me the impression it's more liberal - BTW.
But the real strange thing, along with not getting the site to open very well for me - is their logo? Now where have I seen that theme before? Weird.
"These missing-persons stories happen every day," said the blogger, Richard Blair, who operates a progressive political Web site at http://allspinzone.com/blog/ "But which become newsworthy? A lot of it has to do with skin color and economics, but more important, I think, is what catches somebody's eye. If you get the word out, news organizations will respond. That's what we did." Late last week, Philadelphia police briefed reporters about the missing woman. But little coverage ensued.

Maybe not national news, but I have seen it covered on every news report in and around Philly, since the first one.
A family member said she did not trust the boyfriend, that was also my first impression.

I had read this earlier on foxnews web page. I do think its very sad that we can't have everyone get the importance of coverage to help find them. I do think that blogging will be such a important tool. I feel we have really gotten to keep information to flow so freely is through this blogging Dan has done. I keeps us all posted to the minute. Where even the news station only alot a small amount of coverage on the webpages. I think blogging really is going to be very informative to getting news out there to people that really want to follow up on something. I think its definately a great news source and I think even the news stations will want to have blogging people such as dan be attached to them too. Dan you keep up your great work for its already taking off like a rocket going to space. Always advancing in our technology today. :-)

I have seen this on CBC, ABC, MSNBC and Fox. Her "sister" was on tonight, (I think it was her sister). Her cousin is a big wig with the local police department. Her "sister" (I am not sure that she was her sister, was difficult to understand her) said she had no boyfriend and she was asked if the father of her unborn child was her boyfriend, and the person said, "No, she does not have a boyfriend!" Then she went on to add, "He had another baby by another woman recently." Hmmm, sounds like there is a sperm donor involved in this scenario.

I think it was the sister who said he wasn't her boyfriend. I also heard a report that his ex had threatened her a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if this ex is the mother of the other child. Sounds like the boyfriend or baby's father is not telling the whole story. They also said they had a doctor's appointment earlier that day but neither had the $35 co-pay so they left. Sounds like the boyfriend isn't prepared to support two new babies at this time. Also saw an interview with her Dad. He said he met the guy once and didn't like him. He was invited to dinner with the family, came in with a big attitude like he didn't want to be bothered so the father asked him to leave. He did. Sounds like another Scott Peterson!
Praying for Lotoyia, the baby and her family.

Remember seeing this on Greta tonight, I think the woman Greta was speaking to was a reporter, saying Latoyia does not have a boyfriend, but the guy in question is the baby's father, Greta also spoke to Latoyia's father....dad says the guy "keeps changing his story" also cooperating with police

MSM is about ratings=money.
MSM decide stories on who are their target audience and which will give a better story for the ratings.
Since most of the population is white and with money(middle income to upper middle income), MSM pose most stories for that audience.
MSM also with devote some airtime to controversial stories as conflict generates interest which then translate into ratings.
MSM then targets minorities for the controversial story, ie. the gang of blacks having an "ok corral" moment at a service station.
Most "feel good need your help" stories are centered on white middleclass or upper middleclass.
Although I am sure they have many stories that cross their desk and have to make choices and they choose the ones with ratings potential.
Since the boyfriend (whats his name btw) is the last to have seen her, the police need to be leaning on him real heavy.
I think the boyfriend doesnt want another child to support.
who is this woman who jumped out of car and assualted Latoya beating on her stomach?
Need to have more info about that woman.
For now, I will center my attention of the father of the baby as my main person of interest.
People with nothing to hide hide nothing

This story is awful. There are so many awful stories out there and see many of them. I went to bed feeling very defeated last night and woke up this morning with that same feeling.
Fox News covered the Latoyia story for an entire segment yesterday afternoon. Based on what has been reported it seems to be a case of the boyfriend or the ex-girlfriend of the boyfriend or both. I do hope Latoyia comes home safely, but gut tells me no. Another tragic story.
Ever look at the cruise ships and how many people go missing? It is amazing. This newly wed out of CT is not getting much attention either. Wonder if the cruise line or the area that it happened in has anything to do with that? Did you read about the woman who went missing in June off of a Carnival Cruise ship out of Texas? They THINK she jumped. There was another woman - I would have to go look up names again - that went missing off of a cruise ship that was returning to CA. They suspect foul play, but nothing is solved there either. The investigation was botched from the beginning. SAD.
There were a rash of little girls missing earlier in the year - FL. I don't think any of them were white, middle/upper class. They got alot of attention. Is it because they are so young and innocent or because their families worked at getting the attention?
What about the black man in Alabama? His dissappearance seems strange and yet, not at the same time.
There are so many others.
There are the John Walsh's out there trying to help these folks. I wish I had more time and resources to dedicate to this. Talk about a worthy cause.
Out of the masses that go missing, I wonder what the numbers show about how many of those are foul play, how many have close relatives or friends involved and how many disappear because they just can't stomach the world anymore?

this guys story is suspect. Saw it on nancy she already has him nicely convicted. I agree with her this time

That was not Latoyia's sister that made those statements on Fox News.. she was a reporter. I do believe the father of her child had something to do with it. He had asked Latoyia to take the day off from work to spend the day with her. That sounds suspicious if he's not "her boyfriend"

I called this in two days ago as the work in 'reading' dissociation I do showed a simple line of similarity. The wording of the person who is the ex boyfriend or father of this child is suspect in that he talks as her as an 'object'. The sentence he gave CNBC who he told not to use his photo reads that he took her for something to eat, and went back to his place, not who went back, or her name, and SHE left at 3 -3.30. The transcript is on AMW. This before the staged news conference I listened to last night was before I knew of the history and doubts of her family. It was said that his ex girlfriend kicked Latoyia who was 3 months plus pregnant in the stomach.
The area is the park they are searching where she was last seen. Dissociation gives killers, and kidnappers away.

This case is fishy, they said they left the doctor's office because they couldn't pay the $35.00 co-payment, but yet they went out to lunch? I think the child's father and girlfriend have something to do with her disappearance. He was the last person to see her alive, he is looking very suspious!
