@ angry fool
The talking of the Holloways would not do the case any good indeed.
Moreover, Joran has 3 day to appeal for these 60 days detention as he seems to be still a suspect and not charged yet for any murder (according to Fox:
"Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, two of the three men detained in the Natalee Holloway (search) case, were ordered freed Monday by an Aruban judge who ruled authorities had no grounds to hold them another 60 days without charges."
I wonder that IF Joran is guilty how the hell did he hide or dispose her body all by himself???
Posted by: Sjaantje | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 03:50 PM
Good Decision, I dont know what the whole outrage is, I guarentee in America they dont hold you if there is no evidence, and in this case there is none. I mean, wasnt it america that let OJ go free.
Posted by: Gord Downey | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 03:52 PM
If Natalee called her mother at 3 AM she sure as hell would not have waited until some time after noon to make a 911 call and start her preparations to leave for Aruba! Where did that 3 AM call business come from? Think about what you say and the known info B4 you put something out for all to see...
Posted by: DandyDon | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 03:52 PM
those 2 should be kidnapped and tortured to tell what they know....forget the Arubian authorities.

Oops! double post... lost my first one...typed my comment again... sorry!
Posted by: sjaantje | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 03:55 PM
Sjaantje ...
So actually the prosecutor COULD file charges and have them all detained again? Could the judge be trying to force the prosectors hand?
I think Dad and maybe some of his cronies must have helped Joran out "if" the brothers are innocent. They well could be.
Maybe was Croes involved?
I guess the last big hope for more evidence would be the F16s. I hope the rumors of things seen under water pan out. *sigh*

DandyDon--
Beth Twitty was out of town when the call came in @3am, if there is a call....
Posted by: notme | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:00 PM
Joran will walk too in sixty days.Keeping him locked up is nothing but alittle crumb thrown to the U.S as a token..I thought they would have at least kept the brothers locked up for that time period to but hey, what do I know...Kind of feels like being kicked in the stomach...:(
I fear that Natalee will not only be gone(no body)forever, but she'll never receive justice either..:(
Posted by: Kelli | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:02 PM
Ah Grimer, subtle as ever.
Posted by: Yolande | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:03 PM
Joran is 6'-5" tall and 200lbs, he could have disposed of her body by himself if he had too.

Um, my statement was CLEARLY QUALIFIED with the word "if." YOU DO KNOW that word, "if," don't you?
It has been posted several times by people who are reportedly "in the know," but I have no firsthand knowledge of it, that's why I said "IF."
Furthermore, YOU need to get your facts straight (in addition to learning how to read) before YOU post. BHT was in ARKANSAS at a family reunion when Nat went missing! I assume that Nat's 16-year-old little brother and Jug were AT THE HOUSE at 2 AM Alabama/CST, which is when the call was supposedly made (3 AM Aruba/EST).
WHY nobody heard or picked up that call in the wee hours of a Monday morning is a very good question that I am asking myself, again IF the phone did in fact take place.
Posted by: Lurker | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:05 PM
To everyone whinging about the Kalpoes: until the Aruba prosecutor can demonstrate a crime has taken place, they're scot-free. If Joran is eventually convicted, they will be too. Complicity. But you cannot be complicit in something which can't be shown to have happened.
So, we're down there on the beach just north of the Marriott w/Joran and Natalee. What happened next, and where's the body?

I guess they can all be re-arrested again if other evidents show op. Only strange that mother of the Kalpoe brothers already had tickets for Surinam for the whole family. It seems the do not have more evidence on them to hold them on Aruba.
I also think personally that MAYBE Joran has 60 more days of detention just to protect him from the real murderers/kidnappers of Natalee or that the Van der Sloots could arrange the same thing for their family than the Kalpoes did (dissapearing from Aruba I mean). But hey, that's only my speculation....
Posted by: sjaantje | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:08 PM
I think there was a call. As organized as BT was, she probably called and reported it to the aruban authorities, who did nothing. That would look bad in itself. Play the tape. Show how it was traced to vnds, then show how the authorities blew you off in those critical first hours.
Posted by: sunburn | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:10 PM
The trolls that come from aruba are quite a miserable bunch. In the end, a good number of tourists will never set foot on aruba ever again. Their economy will suffer not just from the lack of tourism but from the downward spiral of the drug cartels given the immense scrutiny this case brought upon the island. All this work to coverup for a kid who's probably going to leave the island immediately if he is let free, never again to return. Some say, that's idiotic. Some say, that's aruba.
Posted by: hammer | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:11 PM
Heavens to Betsy!
You don't suppose?
Maybe, just maybe, these lads are innocent.
If the Jug Twittys have important information, why haven't they released it to the police, the legal force on the Island?
Posted by: gabe | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:18 PM
No Troy, you're not alone there.
The "don't say anything" part can easily be explained away as good advice that any attorney would give any client. But the "no body, no crime" AND the fact that VDS asked a friend of Joran's what he had told police after he was questioned point to something much more sinister. My question is, WHY haven't Arubian authorities charged PVDS with obstructing the investigation rather than granting an interview complaining about his actions?!!!
Posted by: Lurker | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:20 PM
No Tsunder the FBI are not "into this" CHeck your facts.. They are only allowed to observe the investigation and aren't even alllowed to see the evidence.. That is a far cry from being "into this"
Posted by: Sarah | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:21 PM
I can't see what possible evidence they could have against Joran that did not also implicate the Kalpoe brothers, or Paulus in some way. But, by releasing these three, the court basically conceded that they did not even have enough evidence to create "a reasonable suspicion," that any of them were involved in any criminal activity.
Conclusion: The only reason I can think of for holding Joran, and not any of the others, is that they didn't want to release all three on the same day.
And this puts the Twitty family on the spot. If they release any information today, the Aruban authorities can still claim that the Twitty's are to blame for making the case unprosecutable.
Posted by: professor | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:24 PM
Don't forget that just as Joran can appeal the decision to be locked up another 60 days, so too can the prosecution appeal the decision to let the Kalpoe's free. This is all speculation at this point.

" No body, no case. " Unfortunately, this is the beginning of the end of this case (imho). We all saw it coming. Soon, the Kalpoe boys will be long gone. I continue to pray for the Holloways & Twittys. God bless you. And, to all those individuals who had such disparaging remarks about the U.S., your freedom to criticize our country is protected here. You are also free never to visit if you feel that our justice system would not protect you if a similar tragedy visited your family. To all my fellow Americans, I'm proud to say "Happy Birthday". Thank God that we call the USA our home. God bless you all!

All I can say is that the Aruban Gov is playing the US and NH family for fools.
Joran will be held for another 60 days, by then the family and the press will be out of the country (I think they can only stay for 30 days). They think we'll forget all about the "little episode," and life will go on as normal. No sweat off their corrupt noses!
Either there will be a mock trial and/or he'll then he'll be released. I don't this the police/gov officials are inept, I think they sold themselves to the devil (drugs and money).
Posted by: Bballmom | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:39 PM
3 days allowed to appeal the decision(s).
Posted by: FlyingDee | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:40 PM
Does anyone know if Joran and Dad and the Kalpoes can be listed as not allowed into the states i.e. criminal status or for their safety? Can we ask Jeb Bush to put barriers in front of Joran so that he does not come here and prey on other women? Does anyone know what university accepted Joran?

" No body, no case. " CAN WORK FOR US TOO DON'T FORGET
Posted by: Tanya | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:42 PM
Well, this day just gets better and better.... First my brother's cat bites me, and then to calm down I decided to check the internet -- only to find out that they released the Kalpoe brothers -- who in my mind is probably the ones responsible for what ever happened to Natalee. Joran may have been who attracted her -- and things started with him -- but I have a feeling things ended with these two men. They are older and I suspect have links to "people we don't want to know" -- I have been wondering WHY we have gotten minimum information on these two men. (Joran is 17 so he is still a boy -- but these other two at 18 and 21 are men). Maybe we have been concentrating on the wrong one.... So much atttention was focused on Joran that nobody much bothered to check out these other two. I suppose their well-to-do Mommy and Daddy will wisk them so far away from judgement now--and they can sit back and laugh at everyone--like the picture showed Steven Croes doing when he was released.

What America has to do now is first of all, get the Marines in there and put that island under lockdown and evacuate the American citizens. Interrogate the rest of them till they talk. There are some of them that know something.
Then let the Dutch know that the game is up. It's time to bring old Europe to heel. Either they get rid of the Qeen and special legal system crap and be a democracy or we will do it for them.
I bet you most of them will be glad. A lot of them wonder why we are bringing freedom to the Arabs first instead of them since they are supposed to be our allies.
Posted by: results | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:43 PM
Conclusion; as observed here many times before, the aruban 'polis' are incompetent.
The fact is that a young woman disappeared with no reason to do so on the 'happy island' and that the 'authorities' there have been unable to find the slightest trace of her.
Responsibility for the safety of visitors to aruba rests with the aruban/dutch 'authorities' and they have failed totally in this instance.
The only contributions that aruban/dutch apologists here have made has been to slander the victim and her family.
Where is Natalee Holloway?
Posted by: arch | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:46 PM
Brothers are heading home now, with their lawyer "Oomen".
Posted by: chaser | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:47 PM
Wasn't this suppose to be an "open" hearing, and we would get all the facts??? Where are they??
Posted by: bballmom | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:48 PM
NevadaMom,
Joran was accepted to a school in central Florida, I believe.
Posted by: Vulcan | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:48 PM
The press conference will probably be anticlimactic; no doubt just a statement about how disappointed the Twitty family is over today's developments, how they will continue to push for the truth and want to bring Natalee home, blah blah blah. Maybe I'll be proven wrong... I hope so! This story is dying on the media vine, and if they "blow the lid off" of something it will probably resuscitate it. Using the media is their ONLY hope IMO, since it's obvious the Arubians have botched the investigation.

quote:
The further we get, the more it shows my client had nothing to do with any crime,'' he said. ``What was presented (in court Monday), in my view, was beneficial to my client.''
What could this mean? Did they prove someone else was involved? Something convinced the judge that the only guilt of these boys was relaying the concocted story to say they dropped NH off at her hotel. ?? It is possible that JVDS asked them to say this and gave them no further information. Or could they have told all they knew to be released??
Posted by: angry fool | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:49 PM
I'm curious, in the USA, lying to the police is usually an "Obstruction of Justice" charge or "Hindering and Investigation" charge. I do not know the Dutch laws, and was wondering if those 2 above mentioned charges apply in Aruba?
The K-bros lied, it came out of their own mouths as well as their Mom's. So, they just get to skip off to boola boola land and live happily ever after? They "might" have been USED by Joran, but, they still LIED to authorities.
Posted by: Nancy | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:49 PM
We don't know if BHT will reveal things mentioned, because as earlier posts already stated (scroll up) it could "blow" the case and virtually gaurantee that Joran would be released.
Jug said he would reveal info if all 3 were released.
Posted by: FlyingDee | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:50 PM
Vulcan and Bballmom, you both are probably right.
All they have to do know is make it look hard on poor ol' Joran, and then after the 60 days and still "no body" then ....he walks.
Whatever the hell happened to Natalee is really quite unbelievable. No trace !
I watch Forensic files all the time, and they show cases that were solved with the tiniest bits of DNA.
Why can't we have just those tiny bits in Natalee's case ?
It's pretty obvious the Aruban police made sure the investigation was bungled to the point of never finding any evidence. Absolutely ridiculous.
Posted by: Froggie | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:54 PM
lying is normal conversation in the "Nether"lands, and hence 3rd world drug and pimp-ridden Aruba......it's a cultural thing.
Posted by: grimer11 | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 04:55 PM
Shari,
Jug said in the interview on Scarborough Country that IF the three were released he would spill the beans. Joran is STILL IN CUSTODY....
I hope you're right, though. We'll have to wait and see.
