For what? My report came by phone. Did you email me?

Just curious, where is the report about the Kalpoe mother bying ticket for Suriname coming from?

A question. Isn't it true that if Natalee Holloway was murdered, and the aruban 'polis' found the body, that would be evidence that could not be released because no evidence can be released until the 'investigation' is completed? Is there a requirement, a legal requirement, for the 'polis' to notify the family if such a tragic event had occurred? From what I've heard from Trapenberg and other aruban spokespeople, they must keep everything secret during an 'investigation.'

How long is the flight to Surinam? This is so sad.

Whenever a body is found it will be announced to the public. However the identity of the body will stay a secret until the family of the deceased is informed.

So is it possible that Ruben Trappenberg could forget something while he is attending those rave parties, that is so wont to do.

I'm wondering what happened to the press conference, it was supposed to be at 5:00 EST. Maybe the judge isn't allowing her to disclose anything? I also wonder if the Kalpoes turned on JVDS in exchange for their freedom. I'm sure the facts will be out shortly.

Ummm . . . pardon my ignorance . . . but weren't these boys supposed to be charged with murder today? What happened since Friday?

With regard to Jamaican Delroy's posting, I think that we have a cultural difference here. I don't know Jamaica, but I know that in another Caribbean country with which I am familiar, people would take Delroy's view, placing the responsibility more on Natalee's shoulder's. But let's remember that Natalee was an inexperienced high schooler.
My advice: Never tell people when you are leaving a country because that is when predators will strike, just before you leave. You have to be cagy because a typical greeting might be, "When are you leaving?" instead of what we in the U.S. would say: "How long are you staying?"

The Holloway-Twitty's need to do two things.
1. They need to lawyer up QUICKLY, like yesterday and start civil proceedings against ALL the suspects and tie them and their funds up in court.
2. And this really should of been first, like 4 weeks ago, but they need to call these guys.

GOOD for them!!! The judge saw nothing and no reason to keep them. If Natalee's body isn't found in the 60 days...it's all over folks..Joran will be released. Even if he's convicted , he can only serve a maximum of ten years, due to the fact that he's a juvenile. He could do that standing on his head!!!!
Posted by: gregwagnerMD | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 06:56 PM
GOOD for them!!! No evidence, No confinement!!! I know ther mom was taking off the island for a break, and they deserve it!!
Posted by: gregwagnerMD | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 06:59 PM
GOOD for them!! No evidence, no holding them. I never thought these guys would ever go to trial. If they were in the usa, they'd never have been arrested! I hope they don't talk to the press. I know their mom was planning on taking away from the island, for a little vacation. They sure do deserve it!!

Michele in Bham, the Drama Queen, obviously thinks this is some kind of movie.

Hey Greg:
The first 48 hours of an investigation are the critical phase, and guess what the Kalpoes did..they created a false alibi and blamed it on the BLACK DUDES during this critical time as they washed their car of the evidence. They better leave the island because they will be the target of a race war and will probably get their ass kicked.

If Deepak walked, JVDS cannot be far behind. Probably did not want to hurt the feeling of the mother of the missing girl any more than totally necessary. Just let her down a little bit at a time.

greg:
Just wondering: What brings you so much pleasure about the possibility of Joran getting released, is it that you believe he had nothing to do with it, or is it that the death/abduction of a human being who happens to be American is what really gets you off?
Posted by: Alvaro | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 07:40 PM
RAZ:
This would have happened here anyway. The police do not consider an adult missing before 48 hours have elapsed, sometimes longer. So there would have been no investigation during the first 48 hours.

Hello, it's Fourth of July. I live in a summer community for New Yorkers. My street is waterfront Wall Street essentially. I was out watering my lawn when I smell something. Hum, maybe barbecue time. Smell again. Hum, that smell is pretty sweet. Hum, hickory smoke. No, smell again. Shit, it's pot. The wind is blowing from the north from houses up the street and I definitely smell pot. America quit smoking pot, snorting cocaine, taking diet pills, getting blithering drunk, etc. etc. and maybe our kids won't do it either. There are no kids up the street from me. There is a real estate agent, an investment banker, several lawyers. So you tell me are we "teaching our children well."
Happy Fourth of July,
Love, Lennie, the olde guy

I really feel that the brothers being released is part of a huge coverup which has been taking place in Aruba for weeks now. They said previously they had cell phone messages and other crucial evidence implicating all three, then they paraded the men out in public down by the beach, so they could "explain again where they dropped her off". The very next day, they are released. I predict they will hold Joran for another few days, and then say, sorry not enough evidence, he is free also. This, coupled with the fact that some in the media have been wagering a real "smear campaign" against Natalee's reputation and memory makes me wonder if there will ever be justice in this case.

Its been alluded to before I guess its a fact that in Aruba lying to a judge and givning false testimony is not a crime for some.

I was wondering...
Say the boys are leaving and going back to Surinam with mom, as she had said she already bought the tickets...
What if something happens, new evidence, etc, etc, Does Surinam extradite?
All I could really find was this:

dori, suriname is totally indepedent of the Netherlands at this point
Posted by: gulla | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 08:59 PM
I don't think the release of the Kalpoe brothers is a good sign. If they don't find the body in the next 60 days, the Dutch creep will be released. This case may never be resolved and eventually forgotten. One thing for sure... those three chumps would be well advised not to step foot in the U.S. - particularly Alabama. Who knows what redneck with a shotgun will engage in some vigilante justice?
I am very curious about two things.... if the Twitty's really have a bombshell to drop and shouldn't the three boys be charged for obstructing justice? I read somewhere that lying to the police is a crime in Aruba.

its time to extract the van der sluts et al from aruba and take them to a safe place. They will talk only when they know they are safe. So, why wait 4 more months? Its got to be torture on them to live with lies for that much longer. lets set them free today by yanking them to an undisclosed location and showing them proper courtesy for such a fine family. Then perhaps they will properly understand their role in ms. holloway's dissappearance.
I am sure the DEA has enough info on drug activity and judicial corruption in aruba and the northern area of south america to work back channels. But in the meantime, lets arrange passage for the entire van der slut family to a more secure location. of course for their safety.
God knows what will happen to them, just look what they claim not to know about ms. holloway.
the drug lords will cut their tongues out one way or another, if they are lucky. In any event the van der sluts lives are over for all practical purposes. How would you like to introduce yourself in 10 years as the father or mother of joran? Nobody will be seen with them and they will vanish into the hash haze called holland.
I agree with the sentiment i have gleaned from this site overall. this isnt simply a delinquent kid named van der slut killing a tourist.
the cover up has raised questions that demand international answers. The US govt should remove all van der sluts from aruba at once. How i dont care, perhaps the sharks are still hungry on the redneck riviera.

PKT:
Please don't use the term "redneck." As a Southerner I am just as offended as when someone uses the "N" word.
That having been said, although I will soon hit the half-century mark if I ever had the opportunity to meet JVDS one on one I can assure you that it would be a memorable experience for us both.
I truly do believe that in the South we place a higher value on feminity than in certain other parts of the world.
I will add that I have a compulsion about protecting and defending pretty blond girls from Alabama. I married one.
Posted by: JustMe | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 09:24 PM
Oh, and "Justme.." A REAL woman doesn't need a "man" to defend her "honor" on an Internet Message Board. Scarlett O'Hara certainly wouldn't need a man's help! And what kind of "man" are you to defend a DISHONEST PERSON, fairer sex or not? Where's YOUR integrity?
You need to get out of Alabama some. Ever been to Lousiana in the Ole Deep South? Maybe you should. They can teach you about REAL chivalry.
Posted by: Lurker | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 09:27 PM
It is obvious that you are a male, Lurker. And in addition an exceedingly immature one.
I have not seen anything to support your position other than a link you provided from the Denver Post, which could be and probably is incorrect.
Where are you from?
Posted by: JustMe | Monday, July 04, 2005 at 09:34 PM
not really sure what to think of the kalpoes being released but i find it interesting that their high tailing it out of aruba according to a few reports along with the fact that the VDS's seem to be gone as well. some might say its to avoid the media, although it could be for other reasons as well which we should be all aware of seem to becoming more and more plausible each day ::cough::drug/sex cartels::cough::
do i think this was a coverup? absolutely. all signs point to it. do i think it was a coverup of protecting these three kids and providing truth to natalee's family? absolutely not. it's a coverup of everything that natalee's disappearance may lead a trail to and thats more than unfortunate. its a coverup of keeping themselves from being exposed which they most certainly would be if this case was actually solved. do i think she was kidnapped? i dont see how she couldnt have been. joran disposing of a body by himself that cleanly is not possible. is being kidnapped in south america a fate worse than death? most likely.
the sad truth of the matter is that aruba has everything to gain and nothing to lose by leaving this is a mystery. how many people will want to go to an island that will have its underbelly exposed? not many. but how many people will want to go to island where they can see the last bar natalee was at, the last beach she was supposedly taken to, maybe go see the holiday inn, heck why not take a drive past the VDS home? i think you see where im going with this and its pretty sad to think that its probably true.
ive also said this a few times before, but the crime statistics were provided from aruba are only as good as the government who provides them and were now seeing many conflicting reports coming out about aruba and its government which would suggest that there is in fact government corruption in aruba. whether the murder in the graveyard has anything to do with natalees disappearance or not is irrelevent, i find it interesting that for an island that has "supposedly" next to no crime had a disappearance of a girl and a man decapitated within a week of each other. im not buying arubas excuses anymore and you shouldn't either.
mickey john called the investigators and the aruban government fools, which at this point is what they'd rather you think as long as their not exposed for being a bunch of criminals. i don't want to hear about the "stop bashing aruba comments" or accusations towards the US because you know what, ill admit our government has f*cked up on a lot of things, but right now its not our government that needs to start answering questions, its yours. im done ranting.
