Judge: Joran Van der Sloot Can Be Questioned By FBI

Was just informed that court results are now out in Aruba. All of the DNA evidence is said to have been thrown out - however, the tests can be conducted again through the proper procedures. Defense attorneys had challenged the testing as they claimed to have not been given enough time to argue against the procedure.

In possibly the most important development, a judge has ruled that suspect Joran Van der Sloot can be interrogated by both Dutch and FBI officials.

according to their first story, deepak and satish claim they had no or little interaction with her. be interesting if skin cells or traces of blood or anything were found there

It would have been smart of the Aruban police to have collected that in the first couple of days but since they just brought all the boyz in and said "Now just tell us a story and we'll believe you!" Well I think we all agree it was crap from the beginning.

You guys are kidding yourselves if you think the FBI is going to get Joron to say anything incriminating. The FBI is better off attempting to re-interrogate the Kalpoes...and Joron....and trying to leverage the brothers vs. the VanDerSloot.

Aruba needs a "fall guy" or the island will suffer revenue loss $$$. That's what makes this so interesting. Guarantee it's a topic of discussion in Holland.

By the way MsJimi, thanks for mentioning this principal. His students miss him terribly, he evidently had a tremendous impact on many students. Lets not forget to pray for him and his family. I live in Birmingham, AL, and this story was mentioned for a couple weeks, but you never hear anymore about it now. It's sad.

Hall, I'm with you on thinking that someone professional or, at least, an ADULT was responsible for NH's abduction. I just don't think 2 teens and a 21 yr. old are sophisticated enough to have committed a murder, hidden a body so well, and foiled investigators. LOL Frank! Two things wrong with this theory. First of all the dutch are not very good at disorientating people and lowering defenses (they might offer flowers though ;) ). They'll most likely be there to watch their FBI counterparts... Which brings me to the second thing, if these FBI guys do anything that is considered to be against the Geneva Convention they'll probably end up in jail themselves (and get flowers).. Something weird about us Europeans, we like to stay civilized a bit ;)

Good points all. He doesn't have to tell any lies, in fact, my best advice would be for him to keep his mouth shut. Since his attorney will be present, this should not be a problem. Like in America, all suspects have the right to remain silent, which he should take. Just shut up and ride out this last month or so. They don't have anything except a bunch of publicity seeking wackjobs.

Doesn't all of the the publicity seeking remind anyone of the Elian Gonzales case? Remember that Donato "fisherman" guy? The guy was cleaning houses, and did everything he could to extend his 10 minutes of fame. Even the media is trying to "help" the story along with all of these false leads and interviews that really tell us nothing new. By far the worst offenders are the Aruban papers, but even Greta and Nancy need to take it easy now. Your supposed to report the news, not make it. Thats what journalism is supposed to be. I don't know what to think, but my sense is that the Bureau might be more effective than the keystone cops down there in paradise. If they have DNA evidence, even if they need to retest the samples, and if they challenge anything little Joran needs to hide, they'll sweat him out. PinkCobrazz: This man was a very well respected member of his community. If you read the article I posted, he was last heard from talking to his mother for god sakes! He was loved by his students and facilty members. The sad thing is we don't know what happened to him, but it is not fair to say the HE put himself in a bad situation.

Does anyone know if an Aruban judge can order a suspect to answer a question like they do in an American court? Could an FBI agent present his "case" in court including details about unanswered questions? Following that, if a judge could then tell the suspect to answer, there may be a ray of hope?

There is no "confirmed" evidence Natalee was
drugged or had too much to drink. From what
I read..none of her freinds seem to think she
had to much to drink. And noone has come
forward to say she was "forced" into a any car.

I certainly hope the folks involved in her
disappearance get the maximum penalty..but
I hope others look at this case and learn
from it!!!

Yet here we see one trying to be a "master of lies," even studying law to know how to do it legally! It was interesting for me to notice the facade, the charade and the arrogance of PVDS from the very beginning, almost the first words out of his mouth, when he was first introduced to JUG. Jug said, "He called himself a judge," when, in fact, he had only "studied" to be a judge. Then the TRUTH -- he was "a failed judge," as the minister of justice later told Geraldo on FOX.

That was actually the first LIE, even the first documented LIE, in this whole case. And it was from Paulus! No one had heard from the son yet. And what to expect? No wonder his SON also lies. He learned it from DAD. Paulus studied LYING, and taught it to his son, and then in a "family" gathering, taught J's friends how to LIE -- "legally!" "No body - no case!"

And the next LIES were also from Paulus.

"I don't know if he got up."
"I can't remember if J went to school."

Arrogance!

LIES always are characterized by arrogance. When the Alabama and Aruban "group" was first at his house the night they were questioning Joran, Paulus was telling J to "Say NOTHING," and Jug, "You can't come here and ask questions like that. This is not the US!"

No. Not the US. We don't HAVE interrogations here! We don't answer questions here! We don't need to search for evidence HERE! HERE -- We "JUST SAY NOTHING!!"

Now he even wants to try to cover J's DNA! Make sure the DNA "says NOTHING!"
WHY?? But we ALL know it's just more cover-up. I guess Paulus couldn't think of a good response to this issue??

"No body, no case" will NOT work if the reality becomes:

"DNA Yes , case Yes!"

Does anyone know where Joran was planning on going to college? If it was in the US, or a territory of the US, the FBI may use that as leverage to obtain useful info. Perhaps he has a huge scholarcship for his tennis ability.

Even if he refuses to answer any questions from the FBI, hopefully they will say something to him that will rattle what he has left of a conscious. Maybe they will scare him so bad as to his future in any career, educational or not will be over if he doesn't speak. Hopefully, something of that effect will sink in because his father won't be around to clear everything up.

In response to comments about his attorney: If I was his attorney, I would be doing everything I could to delay the trial, look for evidence that was illegaly obtained, any unwarranted procedures. Not to say this is ethical, but his job is to look out for Joran's best interest. I am sure that he is worried for Natalee, especially if he has kids her age, but if he gets Joran off it could mean that it is a landmark case for him with all of the publicity that he is getting. To bad we can't mix ethical decisions with justice. I just don't see it working out. I hope the FBI breaks this kids shell and gets information leading to her remains or her whereabouts!

Good lord, even if she was drugged (willingly) and/or drunk off her rear NOTHING SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO HER. It does NOT give anyone the right to harm her or make her "disappear" I don't care if she slept around, I don't care if SHE made the decision to get in the car, I don't even care if she had consentual sex with all THREE boys, THEY ARE STILL AT FAULT! It would seem to me that Natalie would be more than ready to go home and get ready to go back to the US. She needed the sleep and was probably tired and worn out from dancing, etc. She seemed like a responsible sort. It is not likely she had more partying on her mind. If she was close enough to someone for them to have been in her room, then that person would be her main escort if they were in her age group. As for the supervisors on trip. Have they been cleared as far as staying in her room?
