Look, I love Philadelphia ... it's a great town. But is that where Arubans go to vacation? Also, are there any high-level police officials left in Aruba these days? Seems a bit strange, somehow ... probably a meeting or seminar of some kind but the report didn't mention anything.
Coincidently, Aruba's chief police commissioner, Rolando Bernadina, was in Philadelphia today, he says he's frustrated, but is determined to crack the case. The FBI will get to look at the interviews of Joran Van Der Sloot, the Dutch teen held in the case. They will also get access to DNA evidence.

maybe they just wanted to listen to WMMR it rocks!

Hi Dan, First time posting but have been reading the site daily.
I heard this on the news last night, and confirmed by this article, the police chief and several officers were in Philadelphia for police training.

Ellen - interesting they would train in Philly instead of at Quantico or NYC. I guess Philly is close to NY and probably has just as good of trained authorities.

well dan if they are on a seminar in phily then i must say i commend them on at least thinking outside the box...i commend them for allowing logic as opposed to ego prevail, and say that in life we all live and learn, and can always learn more..now what they will learn pertaining to this case remains to be seen..or do they really need to be thought?...perhaps not in investigating as opposed to like their pm said no one is above the law...if that is so, then practice what you preach!...peace to the world

no little murder is going to interrupt their vacations or their conventions. all of the, including Karin will leave their jobs rather than work and complete their duties on this case. we have a
clash of cultures here, and Aruba is giving new meaning to the word, "insular." to me, this is
an important and pivotal case in US-Dutch-Arube relations. Let's not get caught up in the legal
techicalities of the investigation and case, the broad political implications pertaining to a resolution of the NH matter will leave deep marks.

Summer is when the children in Aruba are off from school, and just like the states, most people take their vacations at this time. It is highly likely that this seminar was set up long before Natalee ever came to Aruba.

Philadelphia has one of the best police departments in the world! I'm serious. I'm not surprised that Arubans would train with them. NYC is not the best, just because they're the biggest. Please, that's a narrow-minded philosophy. NY purports to be the best of everything, but, that's not necessarily true. Philly is seen as some provincial town, but, it is one of the most sophisticated law enforcement systems. Be more open-minded everybody. Give credit where credit is due.

Give me a break. They are on vacation and this is just a P.R. stop.
Might as well get a vacation while still on payroll.
I dont buy it. I dont trust one thing out of that island. Do you really need training to "not let the prime suspects" out for 10 days so they can destroy evidence?
No, I dont think so. If anything, they should have brought the police to the island so they can give them a hands-on on how and what to search for first.
It stinks I say, It stinks!

Yeah, Frank Rizzo really trained them to bust some heads. "The Move" wouldn't argue about the quality of Philly's finest!

MRSj, damn woman, you get around! And, MMR AND JOHN DEbella rocked at one time, I haven't listened for ages, just not what it used to be, or could it be, my old time favorites are long gone? I find it hard to believe Ziggy Stardust, Frank Zappa, and Mott the hoople and all the 'young dudes" are no longer pouplar.

I grew up in Philly and then lived in the Philadelphia suburbs for over 25 years. Last year I moved to Florida which I hated because I thought there was a confluence of nutcases here. (The Cuban kid in Miami debacle, the hanging chad debacle, the Terry Schiavo debacle, etc. etc. etc.)
But after reading the Action News link above about killings, stabbings, a rampage in the Philly subway, etc. etc., I guess I can deal with a couple shark attacks, hurricanes, gator attacks, and red tide. (At least those things are natural!)
When my family and I went to Bermuda about 10 years ago we asked a cabby in Hamilton where the locals of his beautiful island went for vacation. His answer was astounding. "Why, to the King of Prussia mall, of course!" he told us. "Best shopping in the whole world!"
Guess I never appreciated its merits... Ya gotta love diversity.

Rizzo said to his men during the 60's race riots, dont shoot till you see the whites of their eyes.
It was Mayor Wilson Good who had the bomb dropped on MOVE. As much as we all thought it a good move at the time, I had the good fortune to meet a child burnt in that bombing. He was in Childrens Hospital with my son. His father was a darling man.

I saw this afternoon on one of the major news channels that there was a "training session in Philadelphia for Aruban police investigators" but it was "unclear if they are/would be associated with the Natalee Holloway case". Weird they would send their guys to the US when they did not want US involvement. Maybe they are admitting that they ARE inexperienced and CAN learn from the big guys in the US?

Friends,
Up to this point in the entire NH matter, this is some of the best news I have received. This time it's about DOING SOMETHING! I am so sick that any reasonable country, or nation, or protectorate would so recklessly butcher a case as horribly as Aruban officals have with this one.
