This is a great idea sent in by a reader:
ICE - In Case of Emergency
Paramedics & Emergency Services Personnel will often turn to a victim's cell phone for clues to that person's identity. You can make their job much easier with a simple idea that they are trying to get everyone to adopt: ICE.
ICE stands for I n C ase of an E MERGENCY.
If you add an entry in the contacts list in your cell phone under ICE, with the name and phone No. of the person that the emergency services should call on your behalf, you can save them a lot of time and have your loved ones contacted quickly.
It only takes a few moments of your time to do. Paramedics know what ICE means and they look for it immediately.

Great idea!!

Dan
I read this a few weeks ago. Asked a few EMT friends, they were not familiar with it. Maybe we can all pass it on as a suggestion to those who do not know. Also, from experience, they hardly ever read the em bracelets people wear, even the folks in the ER.

ICE is a great idea. My friend from London sent this to me in an email. I hope everyone will get this message and stay safe.

I suggest the following if you have more than one ICE contact... (add area codes also to your ICE contacts - just in case you are out of town when ICE is needed)
ICE-1 XXX-XXX-XXXX
ICE-2 XXX-XXX-XXXX
ICE-3 XXX-XXX-XXXX
and so on

i dunno if this is a possibility.. but in some cases, texting may be more suitable than a phone call... ie a kidnapping or being in a threatening situation where u cant speak.. can you text message 911??
may sound dumb, but think about it, it could save lives
