Pardon me for throwing water on anyones parade over Fox's old / new confession story. Greta Van Sustern just had on a reporter from Diario who walked through Joran v d Sloot's crying confession that he and Deepak Kalpoe, and possibly another buried Natalee Holloway. This is the rumored confession we had heard about so early in the investigation.
Aside from not knowing the veracity of the confession, I have just one question, which perhaps a Dutch legal scholar can address.
Under Dutch Law, given that this alleged "confession" is now all over the media, doesn't that all but ensure that it can never be used against Joran Van der Sloot should he ever be charged?
If so, than you have to ask yourself if Fox just landed a big scoop, or was lured into giving Joran v d Sloot a perfect out from any alleged confession. Personally, I have held some information back and continue to precisely out of a concern for messing up a potential prosecution.
I sure hope Fox and Greta looked into the Dutch law books before that report. They may well have, so I am not implying otherwise at this point. And if it is the case as per above, it would actually be Diario who would be at fault. The next question being, who leaked the info and why?
With rumors already suggesting some close to the investigation want to give Joran a pass ... leaking a confession in a system as closed as we see in Aruba wouldn't be a bad way to ensure that unfortunate outcome. Behind the scenes nearly every journalist I've spoken to, none from Fox BTW ... have indicated a certain caution as regards making information public because of the non-transparent Dutch legal system.
You are correct my comments were from memory of the movie: "The Wind and the Lion." Loosely fit, the movie had some truth in reality, as I understand. But, words are temporary, it is their affect that is eternal. Clearly: "Natalee Alive or Joran Dead" seems to capture the spirit of the American people under Teddy Rooservelt in the early years of the 20th Century. Consequently, if Teddy could invade Morocco, then Geroge W. could invade Aruba!

still no news.......it seems they are focusing more on deepak as a accomplice than his brother satish but who knows with this mess? seems quite disturbing to e that joran van dersloot is always smiling in his pics when he is brought to court - what could he possibly find to smile about unless he is the cold sociopath lots think he is...even if he was innocent I odn't think I would be smiling if i was locked up.......maybe he is confident in dad's advice....reminds me of scott peterson and his totally inappropriate smiles while he was supposedly "grieivng" for Laci

I checked the record. The purported confession was leaked on June 11, and was retracted shortly thereafter by police. So, this was more than a full week before the article by Suzanne Ontiveros. Very curious. Possibly Ontiveros just made an assumption to make the point of her article, and didn't want to admit that when you inquired about the accuracy of her statement.

Remember, the words: What, Who and Where were once spelled Hwat, Hwo and Hwere. Only after the advent of the Norman conquest were those words refined into the delicate expressions that we enjoy today. However, their affect has remained the same.

If Ontiveros had inside knowledge you would think she would have still replied to your note. Also, she could have made the point of her article without referring to a "confession", saying something like "Whatever happened to Natalee, the lesson is clear: Keep your guard up while you are away from home."
I am certain of the "leaked confession" date because I was in my office that day, a Saturday, and was extremely upset to read that Natalee was dead. Fox News had a banner headline on its Web site. I fired off an email to my ex-girlfriend stating how terrible I felt about the news. Later, I drove home and turned on the television, only to see that the Aruban authorities were now denying the report. To verify the date, I checked my history of emails sent.

Why don't we have a war - the defenders of the Aruban system and authorities (including the VDS family) versus those of us who are pissed off about this case. Blood should spill in the Aruban streets because of this.

what I still don't get is why if beth holloway has evidence of a phone call from natalee the night she disappeared and is sure it came from her at joran's place - why isn't the prosecution using that? whay can't natalee's mom talk about it? you could tell when greta interviewed the cell phone guy they were purposely avoiding saying what the call said and who made it.........this whole thing is so weird - it does really seem that the aruba government is threatening beth holloway about talking.....either that or she has something to hode which I doubt

dennis.....greta interviewed a guy who runs a cell renatl company in aruba - they were very careful about details but supposedly what went down is natalees home in alabama got a call in the middle of the night the night she vanished from her but they will not say what she said......it is supposed to be either on a cell she rented to use in aruba or jorans cell - either way what is being reported is beth holloway says she knows natalee was in jorans house at 3:30 am leading many to believe she heard some type of background noise that she also heard when she visited the vandersloot home and therefore believes natalee was there when she called that night.....
