Family Reacts to Reports of New Witness
The Fox story was the first they heard of it - claims it wasn't surprising as they were never sure they knew the truth as to what happened during those hours - 2 - 4 AM the night if Natalee's disappearance.
Beth is hopeful this is a break in the case. Beth believes Natalee was last seem between 1 - 1:30 getting into a car with boys - interesting she named Deepak first and Joran last, even after Satish.
Jug also states he has been waiting for a break in the case and he hopes this is it.
Beth continues to hope more people will come forward. Jug still feels strongly the Father, Paul(us) Van der SLoot is involved. Beth hopes witnesses will develop some trust and a comfort level and come forward.
A report from the Netherlands suggests nothing resulted from early tests on the duct tape. That seems to imply no evidence of DNA - reporter also suggests it may have been a hoax. That supports what I was told and reported a day or two ago.

wow !!!

this is unfolding so strangely

It truly is bizarre. I don't think even the most creative imaginations could have come up with as many lies and scenarios as this case has had. LOL!

Did you catch the comment from Jug about wanting to know NH's whereabouts from 2 to 4am? He mentioned it twice, and it would seem that the family has 4am as a significant time. Is this the phone calls?

duck tape was a red herring. witness may prove to be legit or maybe another Croes-tale. If legit that means the cell phone call or calls and text messages were meant to provide credibility to their contrived stories.
Posted by: ExGman | Sunday, July 24, 2005 at 10:55 PM
Beth and Jug had better watch what they say about Paulus Vander Sloot being involved. He will be the next one threatening to sue them.
Posted by: Jody | Sunday, July 24, 2005 at 11:07 PM
I think the stepfather has an unhealthy fixation on PVDS. This is a distraction, but the man just can't seem to let it go.
Posted by: Jessie | Sunday, July 24, 2005 at 11:16 PM
Well, while I have sympathy for Beth and Jug because no doubt they are going through a tremendous amount of grief and frustration, I really feel that they have gotten caught up in the media frenzy and are saying reckless things just to keep the public interested.
The thing that got me shaking my head is after Beth said publically that she had evidence that the Kalpoe brothers had committed a criminal act on her daughter, she admitted that the Aruban police are not sharing any information with her. Where is she getting this information then? If she has this info and she didn't get it from the police, then maybe she should call the FBI and tell them the explosive evidence that she holds.
I almost felt sorry for the Kalpoe brothers there for awhile. I didn't think she had any right to tell people not to let them enter their country or let them off Aruba.

The witness is saying that he saw the boys near the Racquet club around 3am. Tim Miller said that he found a spot where he believes that Natalee once was...until she was moved. Do you know these locations and their relation to each other? Could we deduce a path from one to the other using Tim's spot and the gardener's affidavit?

I think it is sad that at this late date they come up with some jailbird's pal as an "eyewitness." What would that witness show? A case of mistaken identity? Was he drunk at that hour, was he sleepy? Is he saying he knew these people already? I grew up in a town (small city) of 70,000 people. I didn't know everyone in my senior class (500 or so) much less everyone in the city. At any given time the population on that island (with tourists) can push up from the 70,000 who live there to over 100,000. The odds that this guy saw someone he knew that night is highly suspicious.
In any investigation which gets press, the "witnesses" start coming out of the woodwork as time rolls on. Motivation could be... thinking that if the FBI solves this case and those guys turn out to be guilty... he had better get his claim stakes down now so that he will share in the reward money. Sure, Josey Mansur said that it wasn't about the reward, but does this witness know all about how the reward payment would work?
What is so sad about it to me is that it just allows guys like Geraldo to get another reaction from the Twitty's. Geraldo is a cruel man just looking for one more bit of sensationalism. He yanked them around with the beach trash. Anyone walking on those beaches any day could come up with twenty pieces of duct tape and scraps of cloth. Duct tape is a windsurfer's tool (holds their caps in place). Now he pulls them out in front of the camera for one more reaction to this bogus witness. Calling Beth, "doll." The nerve of that guy.
Can't Geraldo leave these poor greiving people alone?

ExGman:
Shouldn't that be "Crow's Tail"?!!
So you changed your name, eh?
Posted by: Grace | Sunday, July 24, 2005 at 11:55 PM
Here is another reason a "witness" might be lying. Maybe he is the shill for the people who actually harmed Natalee. Maybe the people who grabbed her off the beach have put the word out (notice it was a criminal who brought this to the fore) that they want to keep the heat on Joran and the Kalpoes. Why? Because the LE may be sniffing around their back door and they want to take the attention away from them. That witness may be indeed a lead... and it might lead right to the people who know where Natalee is and what happened to her that night. Find out who that guy in the jail knows. He must be a money guy (a drug lord?), because he had enough means to hire a gardener.
It smells funny to me. If he hid it this long what was his motivation? If he only brings it up now... why? I would like to know every contact the guy in the jail has... I want his phone records and email. Now we may be getting somewhere.

Okay, the shallow grave was in Boca Tortuga, on the eastern part of the island. Anyone on the location of the racquet club?

Dan,
Just want to compliment and thank you for maintaining this site. You are performing a public service, plain and simple.
I am a former member of what you refer to as the "main stream media," and I can tell you that your reporting is compelling and interesting.
Keep up the good work. My friends and I are fans.
Posted by: EastCoastLiberal | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 12:10 AM
Sam - Try rereading or listing to what was said again, it did NOT say a jailbird was the witness.
Posted by: D | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 12:14 AM
I have been watching MSNBC and they had a news break where they said, "new witness knows where the body of Natalee Holloway is." Has anyone else heard this? Is this the same witness who had the gardener, or has the media just reported it wrong again?!
Posted by: marci | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 12:19 AM
It may take a while for Joran to smile again, but i remain convinced that in the final analysis, he will have the last laugh.
Itis also interesting that persons have branded him a liar - which he has indeed proven himself to be - yet selectively believe the alleged "earlier confession". If he is a liar, why dont we just reject everything he says?

Dan:
It is so pitiful to see how this posters above are turning the symphaty on "poor jerks Kalpoe and Joran" and criticizing the Twittys for speaking what they thing, and perhaps they cannot say all they know because they have been gagged by the so called Investigators. This lady has a daughter that is lost, by God! She deserves all the sympathy and good for her! Let her keep speaking and her husband also! And the defendors of the jerks, hope never see themselves in Beth's shoes!
Posted by: oneyka | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 12:54 AM
I agree Oneyka! How can they feel sorry for these three when they have lied from the get go? They were believed at first because they all had the same story, but soon changed, and changed after that! Innocent bystanders have the one and only story--the truth.
Please, Joran DENIED EVER SEEING NETALEE when the Twitty's showed him her picture!
And, if Jug Twitty says he thinks PVDS has a role in this, well then no doubt Jug has a reason to think so. And, I might add, has every right to say so. PVDS was arrogant and rude that first night, and soft and compliant when Greta turned the cameras on him. He's also a liar, and if he's innocent he would have been front and center at that search the following day. Afterall, didn't all government employees get to knock off the day to search? I agree with Jug, PVDS smells funny.

dear brainy?brunnette...listen, LYING to the police is NORMALLY a crime, as is OBSTRUCTION...
Twitty has ever right to be raising a stink and if the people of Aruba don't like it, they had better damn well get some competant and reliable and HONEST folks working the investigation...
I did get tired of seeing Beth smiling and passing out her "prayer cards" as if she was a Jehovah's Witness.....
other than that, if anything , she has held her tongue...
otherwise, what she really thinks of the Sloots and the Kalpoes wouldn't be printable....
Posted by: lee | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 01:37 AM
D... I didn't say a jailbird was the witness. Strange, that your attack on my posting ironically showed you didn't read what I said (pot calls the kettle a cooking utensil)...
I said "....jailbird's pal as an "eyewitness."
The Jailbird said he remembered that his "gardener" had told him this info. So, the "jailbird" is the key, the link to the mysterious witness.f
Posted by: sam | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 01:45 AM
Without question, the mother and stepfather have every right to their opinions concerning this case. But for the public to think that those two have any special insight into what they know so little about (the facts of the investigation) is just absurd. The Twittys are most likely just like everyone else except those doing the investigation, they are in the dark about about the important stuff. They are like primative man attempting to understand the cause of lightening. They are speculating just like everyone else. And when they allude to "things that would just shock the public that they know", I think Gerald could spend a couple of days in Aruba and come up with a shocking report that would knock your socks off. But Geraldo reports and it is for you to decide if what he says really is true.

Dan,
Thank you for posting the link to the Sunday Night Update. The link shows the video frame that I was referring to, alongside Nat's shirt. I guess it's easy to see why I thought this was her shirt.

oneyka,
who or what gives u the moral authority to call the guys "jerks"? it woudl be nice to see u accused of a crime and be given the same treatment that u now chose to ge those three guys.
for all we know the guys could be the wrong target. u must refrain from believin everythign u read in the news. that advice might come in handy with time.

Based on other MBs I've visited, the tide is really turning against the Twittys. These people simply cannot continue with their reckless slanderous statements on international media.
NONE of what BHT has said has panned out thus far (Where are the "numerous" other individuals she kept saying would be arrested? Where is the "evidence" they supposedly hold that will "blow the lid off" the entire case?), and people are really SICK and TIRED of their DEMANDS, COMMANDS, and INSULTS. Oh, and Paul van der Sloot is GUILTY BECAUSE HE SWEATS. Enough already!
Posted by: brainybrunette | July 24, 2005 11:26 PM
The tide is turning against the Twitty's???? Look they are the victims.. and they have a right to say whatever they want since the Aruban LE refuses to give them any information concerning the case. Alot of what Beth has said hasn't panned out because the case hasn't been solved.. How in the world did you come up with the name brainy?
Posted by: Dixie | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 09:59 AM
This is all very interesting - especially since I have been away from this forum for several days and come back and a few are now daring to perhaps criticize Beth and Jug - about time - I say! First off they have managed to create the biggest news story - of one missing person ever - not even sure if Amelia Airhart years ago was quite as important! She is one missing person - there are how many missing people all over - Amber alerts are on the tv almost daily anymore. I have never seen so much coverage and money spent on one person. And between Beth and Jug manipulating the media with their threats, and disclosures and rewards - yipes! Some of what they say and do is just way over the top for me! I have no idea whether these 3 did anything to Natalee - I have always felt that the crime is above them - and they fear for their lives. I just still just having a hard time as to why the Holloways have been able to do this with the media - next Beth or Jug will be running for Governor of Alabama - well maybe not - since by the next election I guess they will still be living in Aruba!
Posted by: Jan | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 11:22 AM
If Beth and Jug have the money what is so wrong with them trying to find closure. Good that they have the media on their side. More power to them! It's about time someone stood up for the missing people in foreign countries. As long as Beth is there, that country is investigating what is going on. If she leaves then they just declare Natalee dead of unknown reason and sweep it under the rug. The people of Aruba should be happy that she is seeking the criminals behind this crime. It will be a safe island again once they are behind bars.
Someone got away with murder or kidnapping. I say Beth and Friends stay there until you find out who.
Posted by: dianne | Monday, July 25, 2005 at 11:54 AM
My heart goes out to the Holloway-Twitty family and I can only hope and pray that I never find myself in a similar situation. However, as to the media attention, I believe it is can be a good and useful tool. Hopefully, this attention will increase awareness of all missing persons. Also, if it prevents just one person from allowing themselves to become isolated with strangers then surely it is worth all the coverage. So many situations are twisted and distorted and somehow much about life gets turned upside down anymore. How did Beth Twitty and her family become the villans? I admire Beth and family for doing all that is humanly possible for either Natalee's return or answers to what happened that night. Beth is probably running on empty, but somehow finds the will to continue her search. Some of her statements may be voiced through emotions and therefore confused. One thing is for sure, she is determined and she has my full support. As to information they may have and how they happened upon it, I'm sure they have their reasons for not releasing it at this time.

When I first read of the discovery of pieces of duct tap stuck to a tree in Aruba, I got the horrible thought that Natalee had been tied up with the stuff, thrown into a boat, and taken to the mainland to be used in a brothel.
Duct tape would be a very effective, fast, and easy way to bind a kidnap victim. It would also be plastered across her mouth to prevent her from screaming.
The discovery of more duct tape on the seashore with blond hair attached tends to confirm my suspicions. This is where the struggling girl would have been forced onto a boat.
The abduction theory would explain the need for the numerous conflicting stories concocted by the suspects. The father, "Hide in the bushes" Paulus Van Sloot, is almost certainly a part of the plot.
If tests confirm that the hair came from Natalee, the best course of action for her family would be to send copies of the reward announcement with her picture and the family's contact information in confidence to every police office in South America. These could be sent by E-mail, if the addresses can be obtained.
Do not do public announcements--that would alert her captors and they would hide or dispose of her.
The corrupt police officials in SA would turn in their own mothers for that kind of money. I predict that immediately after receipt of the reward information they would raid every brothel in the country. Then, hopefully, Mom Beth Twitty would receive a joyous phone call.

I think that would be an excellent idea - with all the money that is being spent - to spend some of that money on nearby islands or Venezuela - placing posters around these areas just might get the results they in fact want! A live Natalee!!

Patty P-Completely Agree
Does anyone know which car JVS was seen in with the Kalpoe Bros? Someone mentioned that JVS's car was heavily tinted- so how could a witness
see them at night- were the windows down? You would need to be driving pretty slow to identify three people, who were trying not to be seen.
Hey Dan- there's been so much posted including speculation, that I'm getting fuzzy on what the facts are. How about a post to summarize all KNOWN facts.
Thanks.

What gives us the right to call them liars and jerks????
Well, how about them lieing over and over again.
Any smart person with half a brain knows they are guilty.
Id like to see how you would act if it was your child missing....

It has been over sixty days of the disappearance of Natalee Holloway in Aruba, the media circus goes on, and personally, as I'm sure many other people are, I'm just fed up, and sick of it!!!
That in the desperate search for her daughter, and for answers, Natalee's mom, Beth Holloway Twitty would have availed herself of every mean at her disposal to further her cause, is understandable, but Beth, has long ago crossed the boundaries of propriety, and made of the somber events surrounding the disappearance of her daughter a media circus sideshow, and a soap opera melodrama, unbefitting her loss; while her antics increasingly attract all the media attention!!!
For over sixty days now we have constantly watched her parade on our screens, manipulating the media, indulging in intrusive outward demonstrations, such as imposing her “Hope for Natalee” braided bracelets upon all resigned Arubans within camera range, plastering posters all over the place even inside what appeared to be the foyer of a private residence in Aruba, walking around Aruba pouncing upon unsuspecting strangers to harangue them about Natalee, interrupting children at play to ask them if they knew about Natalee (as if they would really know), sitting demurely amongst her daughter’s belongings in the same hotel room where Natalee stayed in the posture of a "Drama Queen", giving Greta Van Sustern of Fox News (the Official Beth Holloway spoke-person on Cable TV) a tour of her home in Alabama, showing her (and unfortunately us) pictures of Natalee, and the family's home movies showing Natalee in the car, twirling her baton in a school event, or setting up a "made for TV" confrontation with Deepak at the "Internet Cafe" where he works (her latest escapade), and so on, and so on... all of it followed by the “ubiquitous” camera reminiscent of the now popular "reality" shows on TV!
The media, on the other hand, instead of giving the story the proper coverage it merited, with balance, sobriety, and journalistic professionalism, has rather indulged in a veritable barrage of exorbitant, excessive, sensationalistic, over-the-top, inflammatory, and often irresponsible coverage, where in the absence of hard news or developments about the case, we have been subjected for over two months now, day, after day, after day... to a flood of endless, redundant, interviews with Beth Holloway her husband "Jughead" Twitty, Natalee's Father and step-mom, several other members of the family and their entourage, reporters with nothing new to add to the story, sundry Aruban officials, local lawyers and newspapermen, search team members, and the always present panels of TV lawyers, forensic pathologists, palmists, and other experts (who after much disagreement, and extensive, erudite, dissertation, can only agree that they know nothing more about the case than the rest of us do!), all of them hashing, rehashing, and spinning, the same old stale facts, rumors, and innuendos, with nothing new to add to the case, following the events, unfolding in Aruba, with an intensity it does not merit in light of other far more significant events and developments taking place around the world, which will have a far greater impact on all of our lives, and have been overshadowed by network's Natalee frenzy coverage!
Ironically, during the same two months this has all been taking place, myriads of other people have gone missing, including many other young American girls just like Natalee, none of whom has received the kind of media exposure given her disappearance:
Have you ever heard of Tamika Houston? No? What about Brenda Y. Cisneros? Think not!!!
These are just two, of the many young, beautiful, American, girls still missing, here in the US, and abroad, whose disappearance, have received little if any media attention, while a veritable deluge of excessive coverage (specially on Fox, MSNBC, CNN, and other cable networks) has been lavished, day, after day, after day, on Natalee Holloway, and Aruba.
Don’t the parents of these, and all the other missing young people, deserve the same coverage, and attention to their plight from the media, the politicians, and the bloggers, that Beth Holloway Twitty, Natalee’s mom, has wrenched from them? Apparently not!!!
The way the Natalee Holloway disappearance has been covered by the media, is a slap in the face to all the parents of missing children, who lack the resources, or the savvy, or the connections, to just put their lives on hold, get on the next airplane to go search for their child, pester local officials, visit with willing legislators wishing to be part of the “media event” in front of the cameras, or sit nightly with “News Show” celebrities, such as Greta Van Susteren, Sean Hanitty, and Nancy Grace, tete' a tete' every night, night, after night, feeding the ratings, and the public’s insatiable, morbid, appetite, in exchange for attention!
Let's face it, though driven solely by grief at first like any mother would, Beth Holloway Twitty's ever-increasingly flamboyant, and assertive behavior in front of the ever-present cameras, always staging a media event, seems parallel to that of the adrenalin junkie who after a near fatal brush with death, nevertheless keeps seeking out danger to keep the rush, in Beth's case the rush probably comes from being constantly in the limelight, eliciting the media's constant attention, not only to her daughter's whereabouts, but to herself, her grief, her concerns, and her needs. By now, it seems, she's addicted to it!
Isn’t it about time this whole media circus came to an end? And if her disappearance remains unresolved, for how long will this Beth Holloway Twitty driven media circus, and “ News Reality TV Show” will go on? Beth has suffered an irreparable loss, and she must find closure, but shouldn’t the rest of us also find closure with this melodrama, and get on with our lives?!?!
Perhaps we can begin, by focusing on those other girls that are missing, and on the pain, and the loss their parents also feel (just as much as Beth!), whom the news networks have chosen to ignore, while unduly favoring others!
As for me, as I said before, I am just fed up with it all. So, I ‘ll turn off my TV , and look for something to read, but I’ll make sure whatever I read is at least 50 years old, just to be safe... lest Natalee, and Beth also pop in my reading!!!
