Reader Robert sent in this interesting link on how some F-16's have been modified over time to conduct the type of search we might anticipate in Aruba.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands announced Friday it will send f-16 fighter planes to Aruba to assist in the search for (Natalee) Holloway. The planes are equipped with infrared cameras that can be used to search large areas of sea and land.

Let's hope they're the modified F-16s and modified to the best level needed for this search!

Why now.....why not when there was a possibility of finding her....correct me if I am wrong but in order for the infared to work you need heat...highly unlikely she is still alive.
This Island and the people that run it have a combined IQ -120.
This is the worst cover up since watergate...absoutlely unbelieveable....if foreigners vist this place they deserve whatever happens to them after this freak show. These boys were are and will continue to be predators (date rape is sick and disgusting they need to spend sometime in the showers at Folsom so they can experience the wonders of date rape.) they drugged the wrong girl and the meds had an adverse and fatal effect....and then the cowards dispose of her body with the help of who knows how many other people and then the police and government proceed to try and cover this up.

I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE THAT THE GOVERNMENT IN ARUBA WILL PROVIDE JUSTICE IN THE CASE OF NATALEE ANN HOLLOWAY...EVERYTHING THAT THEY HAVE DONE HAS BEEN A FORREST TO COVER THE TRUTHS, INADEQUACIES OF THE INVESTIGATION AND THE GUILT OF THEIR OWN COUNTRYMEN...THE F16'S WILL JUST BE ANOTHER EXCUSE
TO COVER UP THE CRIME COMMITTED TOWARDS NATALEE.

Uhh,forgive me if I offend ne1 but, are F-16's infrared camera's heat seeking? WTF?????

Sending these planes is just a show. It's the Dutch saying, "see we're doing everything we can do".
Bunch of BS if you ask me.
Posted by: Phantom | Saturday, July 02, 2005 at 12:45 AM
Thanks Dan for the information. I, like the other posters here, was under the understanding that the infrared would only work where "heat" was involved (or only get a reading off of something that generated heat).
However, I suppose these units could be useful for land topological purposes. Maybe they will find something that looks "off" from that? I am still scratching my head trying to figure out how these fighter planes would be useful for such a "mission".

Just my opinion...but they may have just been flying over anyway for whatever reason.
Heck they could be making a drug run for all we know.
Making Natalee's seach the stated reason makes them look good or concerned or a day late or just plain patronizing.

NS, what's the stall speed of an F-16? FLIR on a fighter plane ripping over a small island looking for a skeleton? I don't THINK I'm that stupid...lord knows US LE would have their own F-16s if that worked. *ROSWELL*

Does anyone know what prescription drugs Natalee was taking? Different forums and interviews have suggested she was on some type of medication, but I wonder what kind?
Interesting that "Dar" mentiones that perhaps her meds interfered with the "rape drug" she could have been given, especially since People magazine's article quotes Beth Holloway: "She thinks Natalee either died accidentally from a date-rape drug or was kidnapped and taken off the island".

I seem to remember reading somewhere that Natalee was an Asthmatic which could have been the problem meds taken for Asthma and the Date Rape drug are a disaster looking to happen. Bronchial Dialaters and probably a maintenance Steroid Inhaler.

I guess this means that by now they are confident that the chemical processes of decomposition and low-grade enough not to be detected.
This is insulting. Why were these not sent in time to do some good?
It appears that Holland is calling all the shots and that is where the cover-up originated. I do hope the people of Aruba will not support them in their effort to subvert justice in this matter.
Actually cruel to do this now--insult to injury. I know no member of the European Union is a friend of America because their stated goal is to replace the dollar with the euro as the global currency of choice but this is spitting in our faces and totally unacceptable. We should long remember this.
We should also take note of what their ultra-liberal society has produced with its legal drugs and porn, predator children and we must protect our own from them.

Hi. For those around this evening who have been involved in this blog and other areas of interest in the NH case...do you get a gut feeling that she is 1. in the water, 2. deceased on the island of Aruba, 3. alive & being held in Aruba or 4. has been transported off the island?

"Why were these not sent in time to do some good?"
Seriously now. How many resources can humanity afford to spend for each missing person's case? The effort and expenses in this case are already past any reasonable limit. If US was to allocate a similar budget for each such case, the entire defense budget would be needed. Doesn't every human life worth the same? Don't all citizens merit the same amount of attention if something bad happens to them? What in your opinion is the true meaning of democracy?

F-16 jets with InfraRed sensors "all over their MF-bodies"...
30 days after the "body was disposed of..." what kind of infra-red "signature" do you think it would give up with a fighter jet flying a minumum of 150 nautical/miles/hour?
This is TOTAL 'WINDOW DRESSING' by the NL air force/dence....
The signature of a body would have dissipated to an indistiguishable "target" 30 days later...

The only plausible uses I could forsee are perhaps some mapping/grid assistance provided to Equusearch or a free airshow for the island--though F-16s on landing approach, w/ gear-down, circling the island won't be much of a show (but one hell of a media spectacle). Heehee, "Those Americans understand power, send in those fighter planes."

The problem with Aruba--and many other Caribbean and
Latin cultures--is that they espouse this mentality of
just making empty promises. I'm not being rude here,
but there seems to be a trend, from what I've
experienced, to just state half-truths and oblique
statements to "not hurt your feelings". Example: "When
will my car be ready?".....mechanic: "Tomorrow at
four". You show up tomorrow and he'll repeat the same
story for a month and think nothing of it because it's
a way of doing business. Just see what bs they tell
you at carlos and Charlies, and most of them Hotels
that tourists go to, the BS that workers tell the
tourists.
ALI G- I may agree with some things people say, and
don't share same things what others say, but everyone
posts what they feel, no hard feelings natalee is an
american and everyone is passionate about finding her.
I so agree in the above what you have said the empty
promises, they do it time and time again, and to them
its just formality, thinking they do nothing wrong.
Bull $h*t, do they know how many people the deceive,
and in many ways they take peoples precious time with
their effin formalities. I may take a hours of work
off to go pick that car up, which is time to the
employer. They are idiotic and will continue to be
MEGA IDIOTS with their formalities, and cost and have
costed people money, time, and lord knows what else
with this formalities.
Island Hopper - Thank you for reposting that psyhcic
prediction, I for one would much rather laugh that she
was wrong, and have the place checked out, than learn
that she may have been right, and they didn't do
anything about it. Go ahead laugh all you non
believers, i don't use them but have listened to them
and various people confirming that they can see
certain things. Lets not get idiotic and start being
greedy and asking for who wins the lottery. I don't
think any real pshycic who was blessed with that
talent even goes there to predict your winnings.
SYLVIA BROWN is has been recommended as tops, why
would Montell Williams have her on TV so often, surely
his show don't need the boost of ratings.
Island Hopper- i had that story copied and pasted, and
now lost it, looking for it again, and you keep
reposting please. Any arubans here willing to give us
the low down on that park please. We know the Aruban
people may not want to speak or even get involved, who
knows what the polis is waiting for. GOD BLESS AMERICA.

In the Netherlands (and in the US as well) bodies have been found by using F16's. I understand that you're all a bit skeptical of IR. You have to consider that a decomposing body generates significantly more heat than the surrounding area.
Also, it does not matter how fast the planes fly over the island as the pilot won't be looking out of the cockpit looking for Natalee with IR-goggles himself, everything is photographed in milliseconds. Satelites travel much faster than F16's and even they can make perfect pictures of the earth.
Posted by: ArieKanarie | Saturday, July 02, 2005 at 05:22 AM
A high resolution IR scan of Aruba looking for decomposing bodies could turn up a lot of probelms for the government there and the local crime lords/loins.
Posted by: Dman | Saturday, July 02, 2005 at 05:30 AM
ArieKanarie is right. Also, the ground where a body is buried hhs a different texture, and thus reacts differently to heat changes.
This technique has been successfully used in the Netherlands.
If I recall correctly, this was used to find the body of a writer's wife. The writer had written a book in which he told he murdered his wife and buried her around the house. When the F16 flew over the house and made some photographs, the location of the body could be identified. That was years later...
Unfortunately I can't find a link to this strory :(

Enough of the stupidity and the venom missy. Start getting educated and learn some more about the dark sides of your own country. It has the highest murder rate, by far, of the world, it has the most unsolved crimes of the western wolrd, it is the highest producer and consumer, again by far, if the world and it has the highest druguse and drugrelated crimes, again by far, in the world.
There is no cover-up and the audacity you have to imply that is proof of your unbelievable uneducated arrogance. It is the likes of you who who cause trouble and havoc in the world. You should be ashamed of yourself. Deeply ashamed.

Yes people are killed every day, but when the entire government of a country conspires to cover it up, that's too much. The terrorist low life that did the 9/11 tragety claim a political or religious reasons for their actions, those self serving corrupt drug smuggling dutch scum can't even say that. The Arubian Dutch government has reached a new low

Posted by: tricia | Saturday, July 02, 2005 at 08:23 AM
It really disgust me that all of you are condemning and judging based on a lack of knowledge!!!
When someone dies, the body "lives on" small bugs (maggots) are going to eat the body which causes a lot of warmth. This warmth can be seen by an F-16 with this equipment. Since The Netherlands is working closely together with the USA all it's F-16 fighter planes are modified to the highest standards. The difference in gamma radiation from a dead body and a living one makes it possible to find a body (which has happened many times in the past) this is a good way of finding a body and cannot be conducted until the body begins to " fall apart" that could be now.

You know what disgusts me? That it is likely that the actions and inactions of a 17-year old (and possibly his family) can cause this much anguish for so many good people -- the Holloways, as well as Americans, Arubans and Dutch alike.
No lowlifes should have this much power.

Terps it disgusts me too what happened...and that Natalee is still missing. And I am very glad that you make a distinguee between de van der Sloots and the rest of the Dutch and Arubans...at least that is a more fair approach thank you for that!
P.s. Paul van der Sloot didn't have that much power he wasn't even a judge...he was actually turned down as a judge...his influence now is just as high as a good advocate..
