Read this - then read my post below. Sorry, Ambassador, but I'm going with the people I talk to in Aruba.
Netherlands reassures US public over Holloway case 1 July 2005 AMSTERDAM - The Dutch ambassador has told the American public everything possible is being done to resolve the mystery surrounding the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. "I fully understand and appreciate the feelings of the many Americans who have expressed their legitimate concerns to my Embassy," Ambassador Boudewijn van Eenennaam said in a special statement.
The message posted on the embassy's website continued: "I want to reassure the American people that everything is being done to resolve this tragic case. We are standing together in our efforts and our hope." The 18-year-old vanished on 30 May while holidaying on Aruba with friends to celebrate their graduation from high school. Aruba is a Caribbean island of 71,000 people and an autonomous part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Local police suspect Holloway is dead but her body has not been found despite intensive searches over the last four weeks.
Three young men who were the last people seen with Holloway are in custody but they continue to deny any involvement in her disappearance and suspected murder. The main suspect in custody is the teenage son of a Dutch judge who works on the island. The magistrate was briefly detained himself on suspicion of being an accessory to kidnap leading to the victim's death but the judge was released due to lack of evidence.
Aruba's chief prosecutor Karin Janssen, however, has told CNN the judge advised his son that without a body police would have no case. Janssen stressed this is not the case as the authorities can prosecute without a body.
The failure to find Holloway dead or alive has led to extensive coverage of the case in the US media and damaged Aruba's reputation as a safe holiday destination. The ability of the local authorities to resolve the case has also been called into question.
The Aruban government was so concerned about the negative impact on the island's image it asked the government in The Hague to intervene. Ambassador Van Eenennaam's statement on Thursday was an attempt to address the concerns about the case.
He stressed the search and investigation was being carried out by the "Aruban and Netherlands authorities, in close cooperation with United States officials and the citizens of Aruba..." "Much to the dismay of everyone, there has been no sign of her thus far and the pain grows deeper with every passing day. On behalf of the people of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, I want to express my sympathy and support to the family and friends, and to all who are committing their time and efforts to finding Natalee."
He emphasised that the investigation is being conducted according to the rule of law. "The legal system of Aruba is identical to that of the Netherlands, which receives the highest marks from the United States Department of State. It differs from the US system but it is as effective." Several Aruban, Dutch and US agencies as well as a private firm from Texas hired by the missing teenager's family are carrying on the search.
"We are all working closely together. The Royal Netherlands Marines, the Joint Dutch Aruban Investigation Team, the Netherlands Forensic Institute, the Netherlands Coast Guard and Dutch legal experts are assisting the local authorities in Aruba together with US authorities, including the Department of State and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)," the statement said.
Question: Is a Dutch Oven similar to a crock pot?

Hey Lake, when 3 guys take a young girl off at 1:00 a.m. in the morning and she is never seen again, and you complile that with all the other evidence of their behavior that they put on their websites, ANYONE can call them predators, not just the stepdad of the missing and probably dead young lady. And that is whether YOU like it or not.
Posted by: michele in bham | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 06:23 AM
Also to Lake, based on the evidence that we KNOW, it's safe to assume that Joran had a DIRECT hand in Natalee's death.
If it bothers you for people to point out the evidence, then maybe it's best for you just to ignore the evidence and stick your head back in the sand like the Aruba P.D. did for ten days while Joran and his dad let two black guys take the rap.
I guess you liked it better when the Van der Sloots were letting the black people of Aruba get falsely accused.

The one in the middle of that picture is from columbia. I think he has something to do with this and have thought that all along. Hope that they have questioned him. He has the ties to columbia. I saw his pic with Joran in a different pic a few weeks ago. Read about him on his on web page. Have been suspicious of him being a part of this for quite a while now.

PT, no one has ever stated her family is floating in money. Her parents are hard-working middle class people who are fortunate enough to live in a good neighborhood, on the lower "rent" part of that neighborhood, not the upper part.
Having a child in that neighborhood, I can vouch that the Holloway-Twitty home although nice would probably not cost over $250-300,000.00.
Nonetheless, it is a nice, well-maintained home. Her mother is a speech therapist with speech-impaired children and Jug is middle-management, not high-end executive.

so now natalee was murdered by the boys in order for mrs twitty to solicit money. i think some people need to go have a talk with mickey john. the locals/the native born, know about the corruption. who do you think sit in the jails, it's not the dutch elite who run the country. gee, go sit in a circle and sing cum ba yah or get a clue.

Michele:
Your photo is very interesting...Steve Croes told Greta he did not know any of the three major suspects...the lies that are repeatedly told by all manner of persons in Aruba is incredible. I have meet some good Arubans on this blog but for many of them...they seem to be morally devoid souls...and they have little regard for the wellbeing of women...it makes me wonder how they ever got into this world...I do not know how the decent people in Aruba can stand to be there with so many totally moralless creeps running around...
Aruba is not safe and there are many parts of the US that are not safe as well...but the lack of safety seems to be proportionately higher there...and there seems to be no real protection for anyone...perhaps many Arubans did not realize how inaffective their polis are until this case came along...if some people there are worrying that the media could harm their justice system...then it is not much of a system any way.

QUITE INTERESTING. I heard this the other night.
http://websleuths.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25642
Jug Twitty says if three teens are "allowed to walk" July 4, he and Beth will go public with information that "will shock everyone... shock the world." Jug calls, boys have history of being predators
Posted by: Mary | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 07:30 AM
To "PT",
The Twitty's didn't ask anyone for money, or solicit funds.
Friends set up the trust fund to help with expenses, including search expenses.
While they do live in a very nice area, I don't think they are extremely wealthy.

Below is some good info on ARUBAS landscape. I heard they were going to concentrate on the east end of the island as that is where the phone calls came from.
Aruba has a schizophrenic personality: the lee side of the island has flat, sugary white sand beaches with calm, clear, warm water. There’s incredibly good swimming, snorkeling and diving, world-class windsurfing, parasailing, water skiing, waverunning or just lazing around. But the windward side has dark seas, huge wind-whipped waves and dangerously sharp drop-offs. Arikok National Park at the East end takes up almost 20% of the island and is well worth a day trip. Arikok is bursting with dramatic cliffs and windswept rocky plains, cactus gardens, petroglyphs, caves and sand dunes plus miles and miles of incredibly dramatic wilderness vistas where the dark blue-green ocean assaults the rugged shoreline. Take water and food or else stop at Boca Prins, a tiny bar & restaurant in the middle of your Arikok dirt-road traverse.

Condi Rice needs to call the Ambassador to the Netherlands and tell him his attempt to whitewash the situation in Aruba with that incredible letter will not fly in the US...and that it jerpordizes the good cooperation the two nations have on other pressing matters in the world.
And unless there is an abrupt change in allowing the FBI a greater investigative role in the matter the US has no choice but to protect its citzens by issuing an immediate and very stern travel warning on Aruba.

Once again I remind those who recite unsolved murders and disappearances in the US, e.g., Chandra Levy, that in most of these cases there was little or no evidence as to who the perpetrators were. That is not the case here, where we have three young men who admit to being with Natalee shortly before she disappeared, and who have changed their stories. That creates a strong suspicion of guilt. The fact that the authorities were slow to react further suggests incompetence at best, cover up at worst.
I am also curious about the claim that the Twittys have a great deal of money. Beth is a school teacher; Jug a manager at a metals company. They sent their daughter to a public school, albeit a good one. The median income in Mountain Brook is a bit over $100k. Hell, where I live in the DC area, that barely keeps you afloat. They strike me as being comfortably upper middle class and very ordinary, which is why so many of us identify with and like them, and why we fel their pain.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.
Too many parents do not treat alcohol as the drug that it is. They call it a beverage or a drink.
They tell their childern not to do drugs but they think that it is ok for their kids to take the drug alcohol. The adults take the drug alcohol in their home and at social functions. And many think it is fine and dandy if their 18 year old kids to visit a establishment like the Carlos and Charlie place. I trust that the Twitty parents were absolutely shocked when they learned that many of the children from that group were spending most of their nights at that hedonistic place that encouraged the children to get drunk and perform sexually suggestave dances. I would think that they would be horrified at such behavior.

Great work on posting the picture of one of the other suspects...Steve Croes...Its almost laughable that these predators keep dishing falsehoods..if it werent for the serious circumstances. I still beleive Croes is the drug man...too late now but it would have been nice if the police searched his home,car,etc...
Question for anyone....Is ecstacy legal in aruba? Isnt the Netherlands one of the biggest supplier of this drug? and has anyone ever been charged with a drug crime in Happyland?

after reading some of these Aruban post I now believe in zombies
Posted by: bobup | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 09:27 AM
It was written on another post that they do not normally enforce the drug laws in Aruba when tourists are involved as users. It seems that many Americans go there to not only enjoy the beach but to have what they call a good time by drinking to excess and doing drugs that they would not normally do in their community back home. I know not what others think of that, but it would seem to be something to advise 18 year old children against at the very least.

This picture is fake.
Too many arms, how can Jordan have his arms around both the 2 guys? Jordan looks like he was pasted into the picture. Or someone (more) was not in the original photo. Other than that they did a pretty good job.

How can anyone sympathize with a sexual predator, is it personality flaw in Dutch, #1 hobby or what?
Posted by: bobup | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 09:43 AM
In the picture, the young lady is lovely and the Dutch boy is there, however the man that they arrested said to be Cruse is certainly not in that picture. But he might wish he were, because that is a lovely girl.
Posted by: Norman | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 09:44 AM
The 4 together are more in proportion in size, while Joran is much larger and seems to be wearing the same shirt in other shots. He is quite bigger than his friends but not that larger.
And is that one of the brothers in the shot as well?

Just a thought.....and a very far fetched one at that.....
I used to enjoy vacationing in Aruba UNTIL I started seeing that dirtbag OJ Simpson vacationing there with one of his current honeys. While on island, he spends most of his time at Tierra del Sol playing golf or seen in one of the many casinos on the island gambling.
On one of their many nights out on the town, maybe Joran and his two buddies had the occasion to meet and speak with OJ....and OJ advising them all how to pull off the "perfect crime".
If OJ is not the poster boy for getting away with murder, than who is???
Posted by: fedup | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 09:53 AM
Duuuuuuh It's fake...trust me!! It's done all the time...I've done it, I can do it and put natalee right next to Joran. And you will think it's real. You just need to have a good program.

No matter if it is fake or not. The young man with the lovely young girl clearly is not the young man that was arrested said to be Croes.
Maybe that is why the police say that eye witness
are so unreliable. Just on TV yesterday, someone was saying based on a photo that a man who died in prison years ago was the just newly elected President of Iran.

Hey, "I HATE THE SOUTH", you need your ass kicked.
BY THE SOUTHERN TOURISM BUREAU TO ALL VISITING NORTHERNERS & THOSE WHO ARE THINKING ABOUT IT:
1) Don't order filet mignon or pasta primavera at Waffle House. It's just a diner. They serve breakfast 24 hours a day. Let them cook something they know. If you confuse them, they'll kick you’re ass.
2) Don't laugh at our Southern names (Merleen, Bodie, Ovine, Luther Ray, Tammy Lynn, Darla Beth, Inez, Billy Joe, Sissy, Clovis, etc.). Or we will just HAVE to kick you’re ass.
3) Don't order a bottle of pop or a can of soda down here. Down here it's called Coke. Nobody gives a flying damn whether it's Pepsi, RC, Dr. Pepper, 7-Up or whatever -- it's still a Coke (actually, that's pronounced "Co-Coler"). Accept it. Doing otherwise can lead to an ass kicking. 4) We know our heritage. Most of us are more literate than you (e.g.,Welty, Williams, Wolfe, Grisham and Faulkner). We are also better educated and generally a lot nicer. Don't refer to us as a bunch of hillbillies, or we'll kick your ass.
5) We have plenty of business sense (e.g., Fred Smith of Fed Ex, Turner Broadcasting, MTV, Netscape). Naturally, we do, sometimes, have small lapses in judgment (e.g., Carter, Edwards, Duke, Barnes, Clinton). We don't care if you think we're dumb. We aren't dumb enough to let someone move to our state in order to run for the Senate. If someone tried to do that, we would kick their ass.
6) Don't laugh at our Civil War monuments. If Lee had listened to Longstreet and flanked Meade at Gettysburg instead of sending Pickett up the middle, you'd be paying taxes to Richmond instead of Washington. If you visit Stone Mountain in Georgia and complain about the carving, we'll kick you’re ass.
7) We are fully aware of how high the humidity is, so shut the hell up. Just spend your money and get the hell out of here, or we'll kick you’re ass.
8) Don't order wheat toast at Cracker Barrel. Everyone will instantly know that you're a Yankee. Eat your biscuits like God intended - with gravy. And don't put sugar on your grits, or we'll kick you’re ass.
9) Don't fake a Southern accent. This will incite a riot, and you will get you’re ass kicked.
10) Don't talk about how much better things are at home because we know better. Many of us have visited Northern cities like Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore and DC, and we have the scars to prove it. If you don't like it here, Delta is ready when you are. Move you’re ass back on home before it gets kicked.
11) Yes, we know how to speak proper English. We talk this way because we don't want to sound like you. We don't care if you don't understand what we are saying. All other Southerners understand what we are saying, and that's all that matters. Now, go away and leave us alone, or we'll kick you’re ass.
12) Don't complain that the South is dirty and polluted. None of our lakes or rivers have caught fire recently. If you whine about our scenic beauty, we'll kick you’re ass all the way back to Boston Harbor.
13) Don't ridicule our Southern manners. We say sir and ma'am. We hold doors open for others. We offer our seats to old folks because such things are expected of civilized people. Behave yourselves around our sweet little gray-haired grandmothers or they'll kick some manners into you’re ass just like they did ours.
14) So you think we're quaint or losers because most of us live in the countryside? That's because we have enough sense to not live in filthy, smelly, crime-infested cesspools like L.A., New York or Baltimore. Make fun of our fresh air, and we'll kick you’re ass.
15) Last, but not least, DO NOT DARE to come down here and tell us how to cook barbecue. This will get you’re ass shot (right after it is kicked). You're lucky we let you come down here at all. Criticize our barbecue, and you will go home in a pine box. Minus you’re ass!

Was OJ on the island On May 30?
Posted by: ito | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 10:29 AM

Sorry forgot to mention that Malichi is outdated. FHI For his information, racism has nearly died out in the South where everyone gets along just fine and there are MANY mixed couples. But it IS going strong in Aruba where they arrest innocent black men to let white guys off the hook.

By the reckoning of this yankee, OJ SHOULD have had his ass kicked.

Ito...
I really wouldn't have a clue as to whether or not OJ was on the island at the time of Natlee's disappearance.
When he is on island, like I said, he is either playing golf at Tierra del Sol (I also think he stays there..) and seen out in the bars and casinos at night gambling...usually with some sweet young thing at his side...
He is known to be a frequent (and welcome....) visitor to the island...
Posted by: Fedup | Sunday, July 03, 2005 at 11:00 AM
Well that settles it for me. I am taking Aruba off my to-do list. I would not want to run into OJ there.

To Pearl.
Thank you for having the guts and decency to defend your country Aruba. Pay no attention to the people in this forum who talk trash about your country. For 2 years now Americans have been actively defending their country in Iraq by an unjustified war. I don't blame them. It is their right to defend their country as it is your right to defend your homeland, and no one should try to hinder your right to do so.
TO ALL THE ARUBA HATERS
Every day in America, 2000 children go missing. If you do the math that amounts to roughly the population of aruba every year.
