If I drank, I'd need one right now. This is either breaking news, or I've been played. This post warrants a qualifier.
The vast majority of my reporting here has been based upon identified sources. I've adhered to that standard in every case, except one. Occasionally, one source has provided me quality information and always remained anonymous.
To date they haven't been wrong, sometimes putting me hours - and once or twice - a day or more ahead of large media. This source has not been responsible for the preponderance of reporting I have done on the Natalee Holloway disappearance. But their contribution has been significant for its content, just the same.
I was contacted today and told I would have a breaking development tonight not directly related to the resolution of this case and that it would break in Aruban media tomorrow. Given this qualifier, I've decided to go ahead and make the post. If I die on the vine, so be it. But at least I have given as full a disclosure as I possibly can.
Reports suggest that over a week ago a letter came into a government office in Aruba postmarked from the United States, it is alleged that the letter threatened the government of Aruba that "If they didn't give Natalee back," an as yet unidentified group behind the letter would take action against the island.
According to a source, those actions included contaminating water and meat imports flowing to the island from the United States. I did verify that the US is the largest importer of those and other products and goods onto the island. I am unclear as to what, if any other threats may have been made at that time.
According to this uncorroborated report, it was this which precipitated Prosecutor Karen Janssen being dispatched to Holland and Dutch investigators taking over on the ground in Aruba.
Additionally, a prosecutor was also dispatched to FBI headquarters in Washington to share information and to work with the FBI. I've been told that this matter was kept extremely secret within a tight circle around the Prime Minister; the Minister of Justice and the Head of the Intelligence Office.
End note: That said, I realize that politics in Aruba are somewhat volatile and there is an election coming soon. It could serve the best interests of some if any seeming change in the approach to the Natalee Hollway investigation were the result of something other than an unacceptable investigation, which focused negative attention on certain political figures right now.
As I am unaware of the political affiliations of my source, I felt it best to add this end note to the post.
This post is also available at Blogger News Network.

By any means necessary!
Keep those letters coming...

Are you telling me that you do not think he is quilty?
Posted by: arcadia | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:31 AM
The aruban government "may" have a letter as
such..but in no way do I believe the letter
was generated by the U.S. Government. Totally
absurd.
I also feel the reward money is going to
play havoic on this investigation. People are
going to come forward with bogus tips inorder
to try and cash in on the money.
I do not feel Natalee is ever going to be
found..and Joran is going to walk.
I would like to see the WELL on the Van Der Sloot
property checked before they give up any search.

If the threat is true, as it could be, though I doubt it has actual teeth, the story/threat does a lot to shift issue from the 4 punks to 'ugly' Americans. Takes no stacking of IQ's to figure this convienient facility...well timed wantum, for stressed out cheap-detectives and judges of a most liberal testing ground.
The threat must now have a larger force of FBI working the threat than we would have wanted on the Natalee Holloway case.
I for one wish the Aruban citizens zero harm. Perhaps I will go there one day, feeling safer than in parts of Dallas...eaaasily.
Posted by: tuyvnsurvivor | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:33 AM
Good point wreck.. this letter is nothing but intimidation to wake up Aruban LE and stir up politics. I think its sad though if this is what it took to get them working harder on the investigation. It probably didn't even come from a U.S. Citizen..

Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Hear Ye!
Let's all come back down to the planet and take a very, very deep breath! I have no doubt whatsoever that it takes ALL KINDS of people to make a world. Moreover, the way in which this matter twists and turns it makes Lombard Street in San Francisco look straight.
We all need to get a grip here. Any number of people have the knowledge and where with all to have concocted any such letter. Please remember these two (2) things: One, VALIDITY, of the source. Is this letter or even the notion of what the letter proposes VALID? Two, RELIABLITY, of the source of the letter and what it proposes to do.
Essentially who has access to the meat? Who has access to any reasonable contaminate? Seriously folks is this reasonable? Well maybe...
Subsequently, how reliable are the terms and conditions of this alleged threat?
I have to agree with ExGman on this one. As for me...SENSATIONALISM, in a word. I am not doubting that someone, somewhere in the Aruban government, received some kind of letter. However, the validity of such is really shady. Therefore, with the validity in question (How valid is this stuff?), then at the expense of how real is, or how reliable is this stuff, not only does reliability suffer but credibility also. Any person recently released from any instuition including insane, criminals, or otherwise could easily have written a letter.
Just one last thought...I believe that we have a strong paramilitary in this country. Yep, far stronger than the Confederates or the Unionists, or the Patriots and the Loyalists. When these paramilitary groups raise their heads then I'd start to get concerned.
Paulo (Sorry for the length...)

If Vander Sloot had made friends with Natalie and had sex with Natalie and liked her or whatever. Then why is he not heartbroken over her missing. Instead he has been defensive. I thought they made friends.

For me Yoram is innocent untill there is a honest trial and a Dutch judge is convicting him. I still am not convinced that he killed the girl.
With all this attention of the press it's very hard for people to keep a clear mind to be objective and very it's very easy to follow the big crowd and condemn an innocent boy.
Posted by: casje12 | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:39 AM
Thanks for that, redneck. You might be right about that letter.
We are a bit ignorant about your country. I'm not trying to offend you in any way, but the general idea of the Southern States is shaped by the Jerry Springer Show and other scary stuf in the media such as http://www.fountain.btinternet.co.uk/koresh/
It seems not impossible that one of those militant patriot groups want to attack Aruba. They are even willing to attack their own government, so why not a foreign country?
Posted by: casje12 | July 29, 2005 08:30 AM
Jerry Springer and his show have never set foot in the south. It's about the northeast and midwest. What are you drinking?
Posted by: proudredneck | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:39 AM
@ Kell
Where you there in a helicopter, so you could see it all happen. You seems so sure but the only thing you know is what the media tells you, and then mostly Foxnews. And Foxnews is not reliable, especcialy when it comes to Holland. For some reason they hate us, and they have said terrible things about the Dutch society.
Posted by: King of Controversy (Holland) | July 29, 2005 10:36 AM
I don't think "THEY" hate the Dutch society so much as they HATE the way this case is being handled. They have the right to freedom and speech and they use it. Not just where this is concerned either. There are times when I wonder why they live here in the US if they hate the way things are run so much. It is more about their "reporting" style than about hate.

Well then whats up with all his different stories? You really think he just left her on the beach? And, why is he still in jail?
Posted by: arcadia | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:41 AM
King of Controversy,
Um no i dont recall flying over Aruba, but um I have seen footage of Vander Sloot and I can assure you that he is not morning over her disappearance. I didn't form this opinion from something that I heard in the media.
Posted by: kell | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:41 AM
proudredneck - I agree with you the majority of the time and I hate to call you down on this, but Jerry Springer lives in Sarasota, FL. Not the "south" as people thing of the south, but still in a southern state.

I know Dan said he varified the fact the U.S. is Aruba's biggest exporter of water and beef, but has anyone else checked this info? I would think that South America exports more beef to Aruba than U.S., as it is closer and many countries are known for their cattle raising/beef (Argentina for one). Anyone?

Ahhh, but does South America provide as many tourists?
Posted by: letfreedomring | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:53 AM
King of Controvery,
Do you live in Alabama 15 mins. from Natalies house. Have you seen the pain of her family personally. Do you hear personal accounds of whats happen. Do you know any of her family or people that know her. Well, i do. ( go ahead send me hate mail saying I'm a lier) So, no I don't get all my info from media. Check your facts before you post something critical about my personal opinion.
Posted by: kell | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:53 AM
LFR,
No, S.A. does not provide nearly as many tourists. But if the threat claims to contaminate beef and most is imported from S.A., than maybe there's a connection to her being held there. I don't even belive that she is alive and being held there; just thinking.
Posted by: Czarina | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:57 AM
King of Controversy,
Why would you be expected to show any emotion over Natalie. You didnt know her and have never met her, but Vander Sloot did. I never said it made him guilty. Quit looking for an argument.
Posted by: kell | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:57 AM
@ arcadia
Why is he still in jail? Why hasn't he've been charged?
Somebody who is in jail, wating for a trial, isn't guilty (yet).
I am not saying he just let her behind at the beach, nor can i explain his different stories. But there just isn't enough evidence at this moment to charge him or even to convict him.
If he is guilty, he needs to be punished, dont get me wrong. But because he hasn't been charged till this day, he is innocent to me.
Posted by: casje12 | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 10:57 AM
Sorry, just went back and reread Dan's post. In linking to his varification, it state's that U.S. is beiggest exporter. Just trying to make sense of all of this...

That Shango message I read: It appears to me was much deeper than interpreted, perhaps. It indicates to me that PV may have been trying to secure station in the Bilderbergs secrete society for his son. He is there, himself. They had a big blowout at a private meeting (was it at the Rac. club?) The father already sold his soul, and now the boys time to prove himself is near. The opportunity presented itself, perhaps before or after what happened to her. She was taken to this place of no return and readily this turned into a situation where everyone has a secrete and involvement, and this insures secretes of the society will always be kept. The keys to the Hague infer to me that this thing is old and very high up. It would be almost impossible to penetrate unless you are a part of a murder. Most of this Shango message is in music terms and wici.

Kell,
Since you live 15 minutes from Natalee's house, do you have access to a MB yearbook?
I just wondered what that O'Neil Page kid looked like, the recent graduate who is the daughter of Page the president of McWane. Was she on the trip and does she look like Natalee?
I'd heard that McWane has had to pay ransoms to South American kidnappers to get employees back in the past. Just wondered if there was a kidnapping as a result of mistaken identity.
If this theory has already been raised, I apologize for redundancy.

Well, you take a wild guess
Last time that i said that I lived here and knew some family i got a bunch of hate mail saying that i was a lier. Your right her parents are in Aruba, but there are plenty of friends and family here that are updated daily by her parents. But now dont get me wrong. I'm not claiming to know anything that no one else knows. I just think its funny when people that have never even heard of Natalie before two months ago tries to tell everybody how it is. The people here who are really connected to Natalie. We're all sitting back rolling our eyes at people like you. ( that comment was not made for everyone just people with an additude problem"

That C&C place is not the only place they had music and entertainment, but I am sure there was a lot going on within the depths of a private club. He may have gone in as a lamb and come out as a goat. She may have been the sacrifice. They have opened up the windows in America through the i-net. They must have made contact before she went down there. The Arwaks use the Suriname language (Taino Indians.) It seems there is a branch of Catholics who dabble in Santeria. Shiva is a destroyer. There is a Dirty Hand (Disc Jockey) who is very fameous in the DC area. Babalu is Afro - Caribbean music. The Hague is the Administrative capital of the Netherlands. Drax - The destroyer. Buoy toll a wav file - sound file. I guess it never warned her.

Did you hear anything about a dinner Natalee had with someone else on the trip besides Joran? What is the validity of that story?
Posted by: John | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 11:29 AM
Blue:
How could a sound file warn her? And what about the Lions? Where does the Aruban Lions club hold their meetings? At the Racquetball club? Oduber and Max Arrends are members. Does that have anything to do with the Lions in the code?
Posted by: globetrotter | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 11:29 AM
Sorry about hogging up space: must get this out.
Anyway, dice is a musical interence. Bacchus is a Christian Martyr (Saint Bacchus.) All very old mythology. In 2002 The Bilderbers met 30 May, but that doesn't exactly mean anything. They meet, I guess, when they can get everyone together, but I am not sure of this, of course. A CONSORT actually means husband to the Queen, but here it may mean that PV's wife may have connections as well....bye now. Guess that is all...some theory
Posted by: blue | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 11:31 AM
The lions are masons. Masons are after going on up illuminata. Lions are a club of the Masons. This all goes back to the Bilderbergs.

Oh, i understand. I will not lie. I do personally think he was involved, but if they cant find hard evidence, you will not hear me complain. I feel really bad for him. You are right his life is ruined. I feel that if an accident happened and he was involved and come foward then he may have gotton some jail time and thats it. But guilty or not, he is already being punished. It is sad. They are all just kids.

As long as we're way off topic, anyone considered that they import BOTTLED water?
I bought "Island" rum while in St. Maarten. It discovered later it was bottled in Ft. Lauderdale!

Jerry Springer lives in Sarasota? That does not make him a southerner. Many northerners, Brits, Canadians...etc., have homes here in Florida to escape the cold north.

Kell,
Any idea how Natalee and Joran met? Was Joran told to go there to meet her from Lorenzo?
Posted by: John | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 11:41 AM
Sound file (buoy toll.) Buoy is put to show depths in water for ships, etc. The sound file that was an opening up through the internet that was a window to the Americans (we are referred to as Babylon throughout the enemy world.) While they were in contact with her. It used as a metaphor. In other words, while chatting with someone in Aruba from the States, she had no warning of the fate that awaited her. Buoy toll is used in the an i-net world.

John,
I heard that she had dinner with Joran. That he took her out earlier in the week. I dont know if this is true.

Kids here are saying the same thing that they are saying on the news. I've heard some people here say that Joran hung around with the group all week and seemed nice. It was the other two boys that were kinda rude. Well, that deepack guy got into an argument with a guy from MB. I think the guy from Moutain Brook liked Natalie. I have no idea how they met. I've been told they had already met before the casino encounter. They casino was just the fist time VS approched her. I cant say it for certain because people like to gossip her.

I thought you lived down the street and had the "inside" information through people or your roomate that was on the trip?
If it was with Joran earlier in the week I wonder why Francis Byrd keeps saying on TV or has multiple times in the past that Natalee met Joran the same night she disappeared.
Posted by: John | Friday, July 29, 2005 at 11:57 AM
thanx Blue.
I certainly hope that the FBI has confiscated Natalee's home computer to see who, if anyone, she may have communicated with in Aruba before leaving for the trip.
