Sadly the only viable candidate for President would be Ron Paul. He is the only congressman that will not violate the Constitution, which, as many have seemed to have forgotten, is the supreme law of the land--not the dictat...er...President. It is a testamony to the school system in this country that Americans do not even understand their own government. Accident? Who knows.
Why is the president and the congress of this country above the law? Why can they commit crimes and people cheer them? Sadly, if the MSM TELLS you that they are doing wrong...people jump on the bandwagon, yeah let's impeach them. If the MSM says nothing...nothing is said, because nothing is known. It is amazing to me to see so many "leftists" follow the republican party line and call themselves conservative when there is no difference between parties at all. It would be a good idea for those who label themselves conservative to go read Thomas Jefferson and Fredric Bastiat...then take a look at what they are actively supporting as a "conservative" president and congress. Laughable.

This is the year 2005, the ALAMO, would not work now, as a matter of fact looking back, it didn't work then did it?

Not sure what country you live in, here in the USA, we are doing just fine. At lease we now have a president with balls, and not just one who likes them played with. ;)~

Looking back at this period 50 years from now, will our kids be thankful of our decisions, as we are of the generation who fought WWII?

Posted by: okoj | July 30, 2005 11:17 AM

Not unless the morons out there take time to learn what this "war" is about, and stop screaming ME, ME, ME. And if we are raising the "ME" generation.......the F**K us all.

Posted by: Cindi in PA | July 30, 2005 11:44 AM

I'll go for the Condi/Cindi in PA ticket!!! Two woman who will get the job done & cut out all the PC crap!! LOL

Rick Santorum/Condaleeza Rice - Dream Team in '08!

Well, I sure as hell appreciate your support lol, my kids simply believe I am nutz lol.

I have to go with rpc717's choice of Santorum/and me. lol. My family name is well known in PA politics, they would never believe I WAS RUNNING AS A REPUBLICAN. I do however have Ricks sticker on my ass........but he says he wont run. Maybe I should call him? ;)

Oh boy, you're full of P & V today aren't you, Dan? ROFLMAO!!! That WAS funny though. ;)

LOL, ok Cindi you can abdicate your run for political office... but DANG, rpc717, you have come up with a great combo....either way Condi/Santorum-Santorum/Condi... I'll vote it.

I know this is a tongue-in-cheek forum...but just. I have contacted various political folks over my years, Rick Santroum's office has to have the MOST gracious folks answering phones/questions. If his staff is a small respresentation of the man... I'm seriously for the man as Commander-In-Chief. Heck, I even got a follow-up letter/reply to my questions about legislation he was proposing, and I live in Alabama!!

I see it's Cindy DuPont from Bill Oreilly.com

hey cindy in pa

So how much good is Bush doing for people around the world? He blocked Blair's attempt to cancel Africa's debt so that just maybe that money could be used instead to save the throngs of people there dying of AIDS? Bush is no Christian. The real Christians are not in the White House Administration. Thats not to say there aren't good, honest Republicans because of course there are- John McCain, for just one example. But no, too many of today's Republicans preferred Bush over McCain, despite his cocaine-addicted, military-abandoning, ran at least two businesses into the ground, left Texas with one of the worst poverty and education records in the country history. McCain proved to this country he loved it. He fought in Vietnam. He didn't run under daddy's coattails. I'm a Republican. Cheney and Bush are not Republicans. They have hijacked our party and sacrificed it to the worst common denominator. They care more about Halliburton than the struggling families on my street who are losing their manufacturing jobs because they went to India two years ago, can't afford the skyrocketing healthcare, and supported lobbying banks to make it near impossible for people who really might need it to declare bankruptcy. Three years ago when my grandmother got cancer after taking care of her husband who had cancer for six years, she had accumulated about eight thousand in debt and could no longer afford health care premiums and mortgage. Lost her house, everything ,bad things happen sometimes to good, hard-working people, and real Christians in the White House would be trying to help the most needy among us instead of the most filthy rich among us. Those of us who are Republican and of the working class vote against our own interests when we vote for people like Cheney and Bush. They have hijacked our party. We can do better than those two. I know it. I used McCain as just one example but I know there are many others.

Jonis, okoj,
Thanks for your posts.

Helen is one of the few reporters who strays out of the 'stacked deck' press conferences that Bush is so fond of.

The lack of humanity, the pettiness, small-mindedness, the lack intellectual curiousity or responsibility, the absense of empathy, and the smugness of so many Republicans that is so evident in these posts and even inherent in the 'questions' raised are truly disheartening.

How all of these self-righteous, rigid-minded, PETTY scandalmondering (like getting all SHOCKED over infidelity as opposed to the meaningful indiscretions that affect THOUSANDS materially-like cheating people out of their pensions, outing CIA, flounting anti-trust laws, supporting companies like Halliburton with ungodly ties to the government who EVEN WHEN REWARDED for THAT go on to gouge the government further). That you don't understand the connection between YOUR brand of intolerance and the mind-set of the Taliban is beyond me. Absolutely two sides of the same coin. This is the French revolution, people.

You are being PLAYED and one day you will see that.

The 'glee' with which people seen as the 'others' are BASHED is chilling. You righteous souls are the ones who ACTUALLY do the 'bashing'.

How comforting it must be to know 'you and yours' are always right, disregarding evidence to the contrary.

This type of thinking is what led to McCarthyism.

In retrospect it will be very clear what happened, and how your vanities were exploited for other ends. Enjoy your time in the bubble before it bursts. When it does, you won't be able to blame some 'outside force'. You have been manipulated into becoming your own worst enemies.

It is called fascism Jonis.
Not many people understand it because it is cloaked with "patriotism." When the government can get away with crimes simply by playing the "your not patriotic if you don't go along..." trump card, then we no longer have a nation that understands patriotism. This similar thing occurred in Germany in 1933.
A good example is Cindi of Pa above. Flag waver, and to answer my post she attacks the Alamo? Lot of intelligence there. It is more commonly known as ring through the nose. Whatever is the popular "rah-rah" today is okay because that is all they know. If the media came out and attacked Bush like they did Clinton, or Regan etc., then she would be on that bandwagon as well--dosen't matter, whatever is popular at the time. Never mind right or wrong, criminal actions or no...just so the majority in this "democracy" (which we are not)go along with it. And no, I am not taking up for Clinton. They are all in bed together and those who cannot see that there is no difference between demo and repub...well touchee to the school system!

She still alive? Maybe she should go on tour with Jhida Jane in her veg.oil traitormobile. Helen Thomas is full of bile.

TheAlamo,
where did you get so smart? I'm right with you on that. THe current lot of Demos and Repubs are far more alike than different. But still, Bush is the most dangerous Pres we have yet had. When Clinton lied, 2000 didn't have to die for it. May God bless them more than Bush did.

Dan

i like where this is going!!

bring out the adults again!!

even if some of them are lefties ;)
(i suspect if they are here they
will be converted quite easily-hehehehe)

Quick question for Cindi in Pa

Cindi which would be best to be in control of America?
A. Republicans
B. Democrats
C. The Constitution

Jonis
Bush is dangerous because congress has abdicated their authority. The president does not have the legal power to do the things he and his past few predecessors have gotten away with.
Again people have to decide whether they want to be ruled by men, or by laws that dictate what the government can and cannot do.
We were supposed to be a nation governed from the bottom up--not the top down as we are now. Until people once again realize that THEY are the most powerful person in the USA, then we will continue the slide into totalitarianism. They will wake up....only after it is too late. And the sun is setting.

It amazes me that anyone would want to be president. The job description sucks, the pay is bad, and the public scrutiny is just not worth it! Besides you live in a house that has a big bulls eye target on the top! Perhaps they should just leave the positioned unfilled. LOL

Justguessing

VERY WELL SAID !!!!!!!

They, as usually, play their stupid ignore game. He who laugh last laugh better.

The day will come that all the suckers they are now supporting left them and their heirs impoverished. However, I disagree with you ; they will ALWAYS find somebody to blame as they are perfect.

liberal media?

why would the major networks (abc, nbc, cbs) want to propogate any story that's damaging to them, or their board members' interests (in which case those board members sit on other boards of other multinational companies)?

answer: they wouldn't give it air time (or it would be buried). it's plain good business (for them). since the big 3 are owned by MAJOR companies (disney, westinghouse, ge)...
how are they going to put out 'liberal' things that are detrimental to their bottom lines???

hmm?? oh, so now we own the airwaves. is that what i hear you saying? 8 years, gavel to gavel, yeah right. i want to know WHO decides (after the 8 yr period is up for renewal) if the companies served the 'public interest'??? come on now guys...it's easy....

example for noobs:
disney strongly dislikes gays. disney IS abc broadcasting (and all its affiliates and subsidiaries). there is some 'positive' news about homosexuals gaining 'equality'. shareholders won't really appreciate this news being strongly propogated by abc...buried.

or...

some environmental concerns...general electric...
discovered they may have polluted something....ummm
buried...

you guys get the idea yet..

??

our whole political system needs some sort of change. this is the greatest country, but we also have work to do.

our political system and its ties to the corporate sector need 100% transparency for things to function honestly.........

am wrong?

google: peak oil..

you tell me why we are in iraq..

"our political system and its ties to the corporate sector need 100% transparency for things to function honestly........."
Exactly right!
It's called fascism Norman. Glad you recognize it. Now if about 180 million more wake up, maybe we could restore the USA.

Condi / Santorum oh yeah dream team!!! I would literally work the street to make that happen!

jonis,

More than 2000 did die under Clinton with his illegal bombing of Kosovo. And more than 2000 died on 9/11 cause he decided terrorism was a blase issue and just too messy to deal with. And Saddam Hussien snubbed his nose at the US for 8 years in violation of the signed accord to stop kicking his ass in the first Gulf War.

Nobody want to go to war. It sucks. Nobody enjoys losing American soldiers during combat. This is a DIRTY job that someone had to do. You will see others, including Britain now who will do the same. It is a metter of survival and our liberties and freedom. The same freedom that allows you the right to rail on our administration and anything else you so choose.

I for one don't give a crap about many social issues as long as they have a foundation with the constitution. But fiscally and militarily I am a STRONG conservative. And the democrats have been hijacked by the FAR left. Your leadership is speaking a different language than most here in the states.

I just want to add my 2cents in here about what a lib or leftie thinks is a Republican

I dont want to talk about Bush or MCCain etc.. i want to talk the people and the people i know..

I am 35 female, pierced, tattooed.. R&R loving..I am NOT prejudiced, I am not religious i am agnostic.
I believe in pro choice
i believe in capital punishment
i believe we should let gays marry, why not?
I BELIEVE IN OUR COUNTRY-RIGHT OR WRONG
I AM A REGISTER REPUBLICAN AND WOULD NEVER RECONSIDER......

JMHO

Dear bottom thinker......a document can not run a nation. And neither can a pussy. Your question again?

Yes, yes, yessir buyme! Go Daddy go! Finally the facts!
What'd BC do? Shoot a couple missles at Osama? Advise Bush team number one threat would be Osama? Don't believe. Bush ignored? Don't believe. Somebody had to go to Iraq didn't they? Those guys were under the covers with Osama and on the verge of giving them bio-terror weapons! All that has been proven so many times! Who cares if we went after them before we found Osama? Who cares if we went, basically, alone? Who cares if it costs a lot? Who cares? Who....? I'm right about Iraq and Osama and WMD right? No, wait....yes, double right on! Go USA!

A good example is Cindi of Pa above. Flag waver, and to answer my post she attacks the Alamo? Lot Posted by: TheAlamo

Not the first one to attack the Alamo :0
If not mistaken the first group kicked your azz.
And you even had one of my country folks there beside you, lot of good it did. You folks really should stick to wild pigs.

Hooo Boy Cindi!
Workin' on her stand up!
Yessir, yessir!
Well reasoned riposte!
Wild pigs! Snork! Wait, wild pigs?
Oh yeah, hooo boy!

Politics WoW

Not enough controversy here, let's talk about religion!

NewYawkGirl---
Surprised my fellows would want you...but, wait, what the Hades....a vote is a vote....whether it's consistently a mistaken lever pull or no! Go. Go on grrrrl! You stick to your guns! Don't ever, ever change! Empiricism be damned! Get us to turn that rotten piece of real estate red up there!

Poor Cindi,
Bottom thinker? Why because I don't go along with the "crowd?"
Anyway, if a document is useless then why have one? Why are there written laws? You alluded to the fact that you knew something in your earlier posts, but you have proven that your head is totally empty. As for pussy, you sound like you might be just as interested in it as I am. But then, you are a "conservative" aren't you?
Really, you are dangerous. Hopefully you never run for office, and if you do hopefully your opponent will challenge you to a debate. That will easily seal the election for them.
Get the ring out of your nose. Go READ the document that is the SUPREME law of the land, and expect your "servants" to obey it. If you cannot understand it, just ask, after all it was written by farmers and merchants, and you seem to style yourself as intelligent, but. like I said, if you cannot understand it, just ask somebody who can read.
This idea that somebody kicked my ass at the Alamo is pretty weak. I am not that old. When you have studied some, and understand what you are talking about...and can do it without acting like a 2 year old--come on back. Till then, follow the yellow brick road like the zombie that you portray yourself as. (Hope your mother doesn't catch you playing on her computer, you might get a whipping!)

I always thought Cheney was really running the country anyway...LOL...and I LOVE "W". Seriously. I bleed GOP red (as in states).

Maybe we will get whiny liberal Helen Thomas out of the way, and toss in all of the celebrities who were going to leave the country if Bush won...

I'm afraid it's just more shallow, empty liberal rhetoric...gosh, it starts earlier every time...

Let's hope Dick "Prick" Cheney gets another heartattack and is knocked out before this scumbag gets it in his hollow head he should be president!! Besides, this ugly troll will never win at all.

Just got back online, and read some of the comments. Most were interesting reflections about the actions of the last few presidents. I would like to add a few more. Who was the most moral president in recent history? Who never cheated on his wife, served his county in the military with DISTINCTION, was a fiscal conservative, never lied to the american public, never divorced and remaried, did not drink even as a young man, and was a man of faith? Jimmy Carter!!!
Jimmy Carter was the first president to face a new threat, so new that it would not have a name for another 25 years, Islamist/Islamic Fundementalism. Reagan entered office as the great cure for the Iranian situation, a hard liner. As some people would say on this board he had "Balls." However, Reagan turned out to be the worst president in this new fight. He was the first to face suicide bombers. His response was to run away once they struck in Beirut. Reagan actually negoiated with terrorist! I do not think we as a people have truely recovered since. Also, I believe Sadam actually has stated that he liked Reagan. Saddam enjoyed the support of the US in the Iran-Iraq war, eventhough Saddam was a known user of chemical weapons. GHWB was left to correct the mistakes of the past and he did it in a just manner. During the BC years, domestic terrorism was more of an issue, such as the OC bomber, and Olympic Bomber. The foreign terrorist were gearing up for a millenium strike, but we all ways caught them at the border. The attempts were getting more sophisticated. It was BC that drew up the homeland security plans in response, and left it for president Gore to implement. Well you know the rest.....

God Bless America! Support our troops!
