I hearby cast my support for Dick Cheney to become the next duly elected President of these Great United States!

All he has to do is RUN, then Helen has to do the deed...He can always withdraw from the race, as he has indicated he's not interested in the job.

Thu Jul 28 2005 15:32:13 ET
Veteran wire reporter Helen Thomas is vowing to 'kill herself' if Dick Cheney announces he is running for president....
-------------
I thought she did that years ago.
Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, I couldn't help it. I admire her long-lived tenacity!

Dan, go to bed.
I know it's Friday/Saturday, but you shouldn't be staying up all night, all week!

It's the real guest. I can't still think of a name. Yes, I've watched Helen over time. And seen many parodies of her by comedians. She does a great job holding people accountable and not letting them off with half answers.
Posted by: guest | Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 03:59 AM
oh Dan, please NO. do you realize if you do, helen thomas will kill herself? you and cheney will be held jointly responsible for that if you do!
Posted by: D | Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 04:07 AM
Run, Dick, run. You can kill two birds with one stone.
Posted by: proudredneck | Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 04:15 AM
D-
you are a moron. she won't kill herself. even if she did, no, dan and dick wouldn't be responsible. Helen would.

bamaguy11: If a woman is elected ITS name will be HC and the major problem with that for me, is that she will bring BC back to the WH with her and he will have a LOT MORE free time on his hands. I guess he could look up some old friends. Or young ones!

Pretty mean. Helen Thomas did a great job.
Posted by: Cerulean | Saturday, July 30, 2005 at 06:57 AM
Let the Dick run! He would surely fail and we would have another chance at getting a president who could "return morality to the whitehouse," as this lying one claimed he would do!

I SECOND that!
HA! Dan is a funny guy. I get sick of reporters and actors and people who have done nothing but have success in this FREE country complain about who is in the White House. If you don't like it, do something about it and if you really don't like it - GET OUT! Baldwin Brothers - no one will miss you...you know the list of actors that said that they would leave. They are still here making their millions.
Stepping off of my soapbox now.

Guiliani for VP and McCain are the best ticket. I think folks will look at Cheney's medical records and think....um, I want the president to LIVE through his term.

Really? Don't you care you would be on the ticket with him?
I support the current administration but I would still want to know who was going to step up in the event that Cheney wins/loses the lottery of life.

Republicans have a different sense of what this country is about. It is almost frightening. They get things wrong constantly, but their appeal to the heartland has landed them in WH for most of the last 25 years.
I think history will record the differences between BC and GWB. BC's policies were good for the nation, and we had unpresidented growth. He also had a huge personal character flaw. GWB was a president of unquestionable character. However his policies lead the country into ruin.
Which is your pick?

Who planted the duct tape and the hair? What was the objective? This person or group was send by the criminals involved in NH case. This action is tantamount to teasing the investigation, mislead the investigation or buying time or both. Who is buying time and why? This investigation was misled with lies from the word go (HI/black security guard false story) and the this trick continues to be played ruthlessly in varying degrees of complexity. If the investigation is smart and capable of taking advantage of these lying games, they can actually end up discovering NH's fate. The solution lies in these lies and tricks.

Okoj, You gave a very reasonable answer! I had the luxury of growing up with I could somewhat look up to (until Tricky Dicky anyway) then had to raise my three children during their formative years of nightly news during clinton. I'll never be able to get over that I think he affected a whole generation of formative years of kids learning that you can get away with whatever you can get away with. I've seen it in more kids than my own. And otherwise nice kids too. Either that or the kids are just declining in morality and honor. It's easier for me to blame Clinton!

Anything to rid of us of Helen's ridiculous attitude!
Seriously, Dick Cheney would be a great Pesident, but I don't know if he could win.
However, I will back whomever the GOP selects.
I am a former 44-year Louisiana Democrat who became a Mississippi Republican in 2000. I could no longer tolerate the "Slick Willy" immorality, lack of real ethics and legal insensitivity...or the Democratic Party's moving further and further to the left toward internationalism and complete socialism.
People like "Chappequiddick Ted" Kennedy, turncoat John Kerry, boring Al Gore, ridiculous Dick Durbin, absurd Nancy Pelosi and divisive coalitions are ruining the Democratic Party. And people like George Soros, Michael Moore, and Jane Fonda are burying it.
I am a patriotic Christian American, and I believe in freedom, liberty and independence for everyone...worldwide. Every nation on earth has the right of self-determination. I am thankful that we Americans are helping liberate others, so they can live in freedom.
My son is a U-S 101st Airborne officer, and I fully support our troops.

You've GOT to be kidding! But, no fear, it'll never happen. America's is too telegenetic minded. The guy's a zero in that dept. Besides the next several presidencies will be wrapped up with Bush bros., nephews, grandsons, etc.

Very well said Dan. The county that I live, the number of registered republicans is on the rise.
Even young voters are changing over. My X as well as my kids are all registered democrat, however when they open their mouth and voice their opinions they are stone cold republicans.
LOL, they just don't realize it yet. Yes, the democratic party is not what it once was, and honestly with the party leaders they have now, it won't change anytime soon.

God how I wish all you Christian-hearted souls would get your fat asses off the computer and put your heart where your mouth is. Instead of foaming at the mouth about abortion, gays, and all the others you hate, why don't you do what Jesus and Mother Theresa did? REAL Christians, they were- helping the poor and needy. Turn off the computer and go help out at a homeless or a domestic violence shelter, anything! Start worrying about all the people who are suffering right in your own towns if you love people so much. But no, you're hypocrites. You'd rather go on and on about Terri Schiavo instead of reach out a hand to someone living beside you today who may be different than you but nonetheless is hurting and suffering. When was the last time you adopted a child or helped an abuse child at a center as a volunteer instead of bombasting woman's right to choose what they do with their own body? Jesus had no hate in his heart but he would be horrified how the Christian right have used and abused his good name. HE would never have supported a war in Iraq. Its funny how at the domestic violence shelter where I work as a nurse we have about 18 -19 volunteers. Not one Republican among them- and I live in a red town in a red state.

I grew up in conservative western upstate NY, and now live in liberal New England, so I can relate somewhat to both points of view. My conservative upbringing teaches me not to look up to people, for people will always fall short. I think this is a leson that kids could use even today, and for all time. Most of my adult life has been under GOP rule, and I have accepted it as the norm. Looking back at this period 50 years from now, will our kids be thankful of our decisions, as we are of the generation who fought WWII?

Jonis you liberal suck azz. Theresa was very much alive, until your pacifist liberal ass court decided her parents had no rights.
You have no clue what I do to help people. We of the republican party, the so called christian right support life, while you seem to think its your right to take it away. Your motto is.......if we can put dogs to sleep, why not people. Watch it Jonis, your platform just might hang you.
