Update: 4 PM

As Fox is now reporting, sources on the island recently informed me that there was a problem with a flight from Curacao to Aruba, causing a delay in an extension hearing for three of the boys held.

There is unconfirmed speculation on the ground at this time that one, or possibly two of the suspects could be released after that hearing - with more arrests coming tonight, or tomorrow.

A few days ago the video on the news with the Boat Captain said something to the effect of ..you couldn't put a toe in the water without the authorities knowing about it. It had to do with new surveilance equipment that had been installed. Nothing to do with the search for Natalee though....just some recent updating of the security. Anyone remember that?

The Kalpoe's will walk ... they've been sweated down to flush out all the information they can provide, build the timeline, and bring in the rest of the parties involved.

What still doesn't add up is that there's been no report of her actually dying. If that had happened, we'd know about it. That leaves JVDS alone with her on the beach with an alibi implicating others like Croes and the father that hasn't added up for investigators.

The boat owner and the helicopter pilot who gave CNN's Paul a tour of the island stated that you cannot set a foot in the water, without the authorities knowing.

These statements are true. And the fact is that Aruba has two radar that monitor all watercraft around the island. One is located at the western part of the island and one the eastern point. This radar is very effective and has been recently installed in order to avoid illegal entries of people of neighboring countries.

And the appearance in court of the VDS and the 4 boys have been posponed till tomorrow due to cancellation of a flight today.

I've been reading this board for about a week but this is my first posting.

I feel awful for Natalee Holloway's family and what they must be going through.

I am of the opinion that JVDS took her to the beach, maybe wanted to go further with her than she did, and it got ugly. I don't think she is alive.

My most morbid curiosity about this case is the Van Der Sloot father. Especially after watching his interview with Greta; he came across as odd and possibly dishonest, but maybe that's his normal way. I heard yesterday, I think it was that Ruben Trapenberg guy, who confirmed that something PVDS said in his interview with Greta was basically the cause of him being arrested. Some sort of conflict between what he told the police earlier and what he said in the Greta interview.

Does anyone know if there is a full transcript of the interview anywhere?

I can't tell u how happy i am that the Caribbean islands are more keen on following the European rather than the US system of justice. - That way, the is greater hope that an innocent man wont be incacerated.

Based on everything I have heard, the Judges in Aruba only decide on weather or not someone is held, nothing more, to date anyway. As far as judicial authority gathering information, that would put bias on the case,IMHO. In the USA, a judge is not made aware of any information, prior to taking his seat on the bench. The police are the only ones here to gather information and present it in Court, the probation department does a back round check prior to the hearing and presents it to the Judge during the sentencing stage, and makes a recommendation as to sentencing. As backward as Aruba seems to be with their police investigations, I would hope that their Justice system as far as Judges gathering their own information, works the same as ours. Would be a sad day, when we go back to letting our Judges be investigators, judge and jury.

There doesn't really seem to be any urgency to rescue Natalee, the strategy now seems to be recovery.

With the media circus surrounding this thing, misdirection is required, hence the reward for her safe return.

I pray that I am wrong, but if perchance Natalee was alive, how much trouble will her captors be in? Is the risk worth the reward?

And Pee, the US system may have its problems, however they would've certainly broken Joran by now and there would be answers. As well, the brothers would face possible incarceration for misleading authorities.

I'm amazed anyone gets convicted and jailed in Aruba at this stage of the game.

If Joran was in the US, he would not be held unless charged with a crime in 3 days. They could not arrest his father in order to force a confession, which is what I think is going on. I fear they have to throw someone to the wolves to save toursim, and hope it will not work. This actaully will make Americans afraid to travel because we are not aware that we as defendants do not have ANY rights in a foreign country, and that it is some kind of Kangeroo court that can convict you. The Dutch system, no jury, one judge decides. If you are acquited, the prosecution gets an automatic appeal, and you can be tried agian! They get two shots at you! Scary..

Add to this our scary media interviewing suspects famlies and they are arrested. Gretta, the cop of the world.

(Actually, the newslinks aren't really that great anyway, cause of all the unconfirmed leaks of information that set the stage for the confusion that permiates this case. ~ INTENTIONAL?

However, I have been following this story every day for hours each day from the day Natalee first disapeared. So let me see if I have the FACTS straight thus far (If I miss anything, Im sure someone will tell me)

1. Natalee is last seen leaving with Joran Van der Sloot, and the Kalpoe Bros between 1-1:30 in the early Morning of Monday, May 30th 2005...in SATISH's car.

2. Phone calls were made from Joran VDS cell phone during the wee hours of the morning to the Kalpoe bros cell phone, to the VDS home, and to Steve Croes.

3. Police have confinscated 3 autos...Satish's...and the 2 cars Paul Van der Sloot owned.

4. Natalee was taking some kind of daily medication that she needed and was left in her room in her packed bags.

5. Natalee had 2 drinks at C&Cs, according to her group of friends.

6. Joran VDS made it to school the next day.

7. Boys lied....then admitted it, changing thier stories....

8. ...and now Daddy VDS "Justice in Training" is in the slammer too.

Aruban authorities may just be witholding info for exactly the reasons the said in the first place.... so as not to tarnish the reputation of someone they are currently questioning but who has not been charged with anything yet. I'm not talking about any one in particular...
I'm just saying that thier system (after much thought about it) seems right on in alot of ways to me...and maybe thats why we have seen the Twitty's start to back off from earlier complaints about how little information they are willing to release.

Hey...here in the states....they get a little evidence that points to you, they arrest you and CHARGE you with the crime and hold you indefinetly BEFORE they PROVE IT. And America calls that "Innocent until Proven Guilty".

In Aruba, it seems, they detain you during questioning (up to what-160 days?) in order to keep a potential guilty party under questioning from covering evidence, skipping out...? and to detain a potential suspect while gathering evidence against that person....explains why they have to go before a judge with continueing information every week....

I do believe the pressure is deffinetly on and due to that the Aruban authorities are indeed hustling to try to get at the truth....You think they want Beth and the Twitty family moving to Aruba permanently? They WILL SOLVE THIS.

In a press conference last night, the director of the Texas Search Team, Tim Miller announced that they are not allowing media to come close to their search and is deeply dissapointed on how the media are portraiying the local authorities. He assures that they are doing their best. He also demanded the media to stop with their negativism and respect the auhorities and FBI's investigation.

He also stated that in the coming days they might ask for local resident's help in searching and will announce this accordingly.

I think Occam's Razor is the right way to think about this. However, I think the date-rape drugs, father helping dispose of body, J still showing up at school, etc. is not the simplest explanation and therefore does not make sense.

Occam's razor basically says to make as few assumptions as possible. The current theory demands a huge number of tenuous assumptions. Such as: 1. although this girl was in Aruba a place that is notorious for excessive boozing and relaxed sexual mores, etc, she would not have wanted to do these things. 2. even though PVDS is a judge, lets just assume that everyone who vouches for his character is wrong and that hes done something terribly unethical and basically evil. 3. lets assume JVDS is a psycopath, despite the lack of any supporting evidence 4. lets assume that heeding the intuition of grieving parents, under a huge huge amount of stress, feeling desperate and in a foreign culture is a *good* approach to figuring out who may be responsible for their daughter's disappearance.

I still think the simplest answer is something noone's really said yet, or maybe even thought of, such as, a party not yet mentioned did kidnap or kill her. Or she went swimming alone and drowned and for whatever reason her body washed away. Or most likely, something tragic that noone has yet considered due to the media's mad rush to find a perpetrator.

The current most popular theory (od/rape/disposal/coverup) requires a number of (in my opinion) implausible things to be true.

It does not seem to acknowledge the following problems:

1. No one has come forward to publicly accuse JVDS of date rape, much less the use of rufies, etc. Therefore, national enquirer aside, this is 100% hearsay. It provides a seemingly neat explanation, but we have absolutely zero reason to think this.

2. Apparently NH approached him, both at the HI and at CC. As a teenager partying in Aruba, it is not unlikely that she would have been drinking and looking to hookup - that's just normal for many kids of this age, like it or not. So her getting in the car is just not implausible. Nor is it implausible that on the last night of her trip, she would want to make out or even, gasp!, have sex with JVDS.

3. If you assume he is guilty of murder or coverup, then JVDS has apparently not confessed after a whole lot of interrogation. The simplest explanation for this is that he *has* confessed - that he doesn't know anything more other than being the last to see her.

Until more evidence is made public, this still seems to me to be a simpler explanation than the one which seems most popular on this board right now.

All that aside, there is one bit of info I haven't heard mentioned in awhile that still gives me real pause - did JVDS really call croes at 6:30 AM the following morning? If so, I cannot come up with any explanation whatsoever for this one. If it is only a rumor however, I would have to say the evidence so far made public really leads me to think this whole group of people may well end up being innocent.

I believe we now can safely say what happened the night Natalee disappeared. First, I believe it is apparent the Joran and Paulis have a gambling problem and have most likely worked the family into debt. I believe that money was either borrowed from a loan shark or Natalee was merely sold for money.

Joran and Paulis were gambling at the Holiday Inn on the night of the disappearance. Paulis left the casino at an unknown time Joran remained. On the night of her disappearance Natalee met Joran at the Holiday Inn casino and began to flirt with him. She asked if he would be at C&C later where they letter met again. According to Paulis; Joran called him from McDonald’s at 11pm to pick him up and take him home that is within walking distance of the hotel. Joran may or may not have gone to McDonald’s and may or may not have met his father there. However, I do not think Joran returned home at this point. He either walked or was given a ride by dad to C&C, where he met up with Natalee.

After, hanging out for a will Joran placed a call to the brothers to pick him up, which they did. I do not think that Natalee was drugged at this point, but it is possible. I think she may have wanted to spend a little more time with Joran and agreed to ride with the guys. Natalee and Joran were then dropped off near the Marriot. Maybe, not to have sex: last night there, close to the Holiday Inn and perhaps at the suggestion of Joran they take a walk on the beach the rest of the way. The brothers leave. One of two things happened next either he persuades Natalee to go with him and see his friend Steve on the Tattoo or forces her to go there. Once on the boat they transport her to sea and she is handed off to another boat or perhaps remained on Aruba although unlikely. Joran's father meets him and they head home. There debt has now been settled and the compensation was Natalee.

In the morning Joran calls the brothers tells them he needs for them to lie and they agree. Either out of fear the will be blamed, because of who Joran's father is or just that they were being stupid. Remember after their arrest it was only the matter of a few days before we learned that they changed their story and said the dropped Natalee and Joran off. I think the brothers have cracked, but all they know is that they were covering for Joran, but not what happened after they left.

If I am wrong ask the following:

Why did Joran call his dad to go home just to sneak right back out?

How to Joran get from home to C&C?

How did Joran get from the beach back to his house?

What happened to Natalee?

Where does Steve fit in?

Why is there no evidence?

Why have the brothers not cracked?

What really did happen?

Natalee is ALIVE and we must get her NOW!

The Plane that was the one that should have picked up passengers in Curacao, had a technical failure, parts were flown in from its base in Bonaire, but were not able to fix rappidly enough. The flight was posponed to later in the afternoon, but the judge decided it would not be realistic to proceed on a case this big, coming in so late. So they moved it for tomorrow.

I think that the parents of natalie took out a huge life insurance policy on her, during her visit to aruba her brother tagged along aswell. Hello All...

Geraldo is in Aruba. He interviewed the judicial minister today who cleared up that Paul Van Der Sloot was a failed judge in training. He failed the test in Holland and the week prior to Natalee's disapearance Paul was in to see the judicial minister asking for a job. Paul was out of work. The judicial minister also told Geraldo that he thought Paul was arrested to put pressure on his son to talk. We get bits and pieces from the officials but this was more info than I have heard from any of officials.

With all due respect, Occam's Razor supports the simplest, most likely scenario. That would be, I think, that Joran slipped Natalee a date-rape drug and that she accidentally died. Women given GHB or a "roofie" do die from overdoses. Joran panics, calls dad, and the cover-up begins.
