The Never Ending Stories

Behind the scenes I know that some - and certainly some fellow bloggers have questioned the motivations for my Natalee Holloway coverage.

The fact is that from the time I wrote the initial news piece from wire reports, this is what I have always feared. Thanks to the reader with a family member named in this story. Readers name witheld by request.

Families of those who become crime victims in some foreign countries often learn a hard lesson about getting justice and what little the United States can do about it.

Back on the Happy Island it's a lot like here in the states. We people all have our own interests at the top of our list. Then someone else comes iin the picture with His own interests. Most people everywhere care a lot about others bu then there are those who are more like the narcisis.

JVDS mom said early on that, "Joran told me everything that happened." (that's when the story was that they let NH off at HolInn). NOW JVDS mom says, "he left her at the beach." (which of course is nonsense) At the lighthouse, the hotel, the beach now? How did he leave her?
What condition? Edge of beach by cliff and water?
Beach cave? Under beach sand?
With a beach bum???

Yet mom still thinks he is innocent! "It's against the family rules" for J to be out! -- Well so much for rules and her knowledge of J's casino life!! -- She wasn't even there.

She has only two different stories from JVDS and another” story" from dad who says he, "didn't know J was gone... confused, ... didn't know if he got up in the morning... didn't know if J went to school... I can't remember (hands wringing, twisting fingers together with profusely sweating brow) "!!!!

No wonder he is so nervous. Now mom doesn't know what her son OR husband was doing while she was gone! Neither has a valid alibi or plausible, consistent story. Son breaks the rules -- what's dad doing?? We can't tell what EITHER of them may have done. The whole thing with NH could just as likely have been anywhere on the island. Who could know now -- only NH... And where is she. She could tell a lot. Even if only by forensic tests. That must be why they don't want us to find her.

The "boys" going southeast to the mine shafts and then sending everyone northwest after empty clues and stories. Perhaps calling Steve Croes to say, "hey amigo, tell polis we dropped NH at HolInn."

But now it's, "Left her on the beach." Yet Dad and mom do not know how J got home??

Then dad says, "I haven't talked to J" (in 10 days at home?) But wiretaps reveal him later telling J "Don't say any more!"

Dad was a "pinch - hit" fill-in judge, a friend of the first judge that heard JVDS say, "dropped her at HolInn... must have been the security guard??" So first judge, close buddy of Mr VDS says, "OK, arrest the guards!" Now J and Dad are home free.

J finishes finals, mom comes home. J graduates. "Happy Family, Happy Island!"

But contradictions and conflicts arise. Now it's time to get a new judge who is not "friend of happy family."
Guards out - J and freinds in. Bravo for Dtch treats!

Dad's sweating. Mom's bewildered! "He's innocent He's innocent I tell ya!" :-(

Now I am more inclined to entertain the theory of a kidnapping because there is something BIG hovering over the heads of the heads of the VDSloots -- from boys to men. Especially since there has been no sign of NH.

Yet there's those nagging mine shafts filled with sea water. Has anyone heard any more about a search of those?

Akekoa - I don't know but you certainly have a gift for writing.

I was told previously the island was "clean," all had been searched. But sources and information are drying up coming from the island; though it seems clear to me there is an orchestrated campaign to shift the focus off of Aruba onto Natalee, and / or onto a kidnapping to another land.

Likely some will keep beating that drum to see if they can't make the rumor become the truth. And some want to find anything they can to prove Natalee is still alive and just missing.

I've never questioned Dan's reasons for covering this case. He seems to care about the truth. He's gotten some scoops and quite a bit of the stuff he's saying is proving itself, like the lie detector stuff. As long as people care about the truth and about the victim, I don't see what's wrong with having more people writing on this case. It's not like the formal media don't have their problems. Like Geraldo Rivera.

You should be the author of the book for this story. You would do a good job.It would be a bestseller!! Here is what I think to answer soem of your questions.
I have never beleived the lighthouse story from day one when I first heard it.

As far as the new guy Steve, well..I heard or read somewhere he was friends with someone on the radio station 95 that took everyone on the wild goose chase to the pond they drained and where the guy found the panties and comdoms and got on TV. Maybe a setup to steer them away from where they were searchng for the body. ? Maybe the searchers were getting close to where the body was when they were out there searching. Or radio 95 needed some attention. Who knows about that.

Another thing about this guy Steve, it was reported by someone that he did not know how to drive a boat but then when Fox did an interview with someone there they said Steve was a mastewr seaman or something to that effect. I other words he could drive a boat. Another thing. The boat dock for the TATOO was right in front or very close to the Holiday Inn. They also have many other boats docked there.
Now I do not know what any of this has to do with anything but just some things I wanted to point out.
There are a few other things that I will add later. I will never get all my work done if I do not stop. Got to get to work on all these emails to my customers. I have any internet business I need to tend to. LOL. But when I get burnt out on working on my business I take a break to come here and catch up on this tragic story that seems to have so many dead end streets. It has to end sometime. I just do not know when. lol

Someone on the "Scared Monkeys" massive discussion board indicated that the "Tattoo" is for sale on an internet yacht sales board. Interesting twist on events I think. Wouldn't it be strange if the owner was aware that something happened on the boat, and now wants to sell it quickly to get rid of the evidence so to speak. I checked the website but couldn't find a date that the boat was listed for sale, but it was clearly the "Tattoo" from Aruba.

I find this a little strange and a bit disturbing considering they keep saying Natalee could be alive some place.

Someone had put the link below up for Joran on this same sight. I had been there before . I thought I would go there again and take a look again. When I clicked on the pic of his friend in his pic it brought me to this link.(below). When I had seen that pic before I thought this guy looked like he was from Columbia and I see now from his info that he is!. Could this be the missing link and the tie to Natalee being taken out of the country if she is really alive.

Last night a few of Natalee's friends were on TV. They were asking them questions but did not ask them all the right questions.

I want to know if Joran and Natalie had plans to meet at Carlos and Charlie's? When they were at Carlos and Charlie's were they hanging out together or were they in separate groups? If they were hanging out together why didn't Natalee's friends come get her before they were leaving? Was Natalie fighting with her friends?

They just interviewed the head of the Equusearch team on CNN (TV) and he said they were going to Aruba to help because they have lots of experience with missing persons and "because the family needs closure." Doesn't sound like they are very hopeful she's still alive.

Honestly, I don't know what to think anymore. There are so many theories, lies, contradictions...it's getting impossible to sift through it all.

Anything seems possible in this case. The mine shaft idea is very realistic (some are reported to be up to 30 meters deep). Throwing Natalee overboard is a plausible theory. As for kidnapping for sex slave sale, or payoff for drug/gambling debts....who knows. If that were the case, I tend to believe it would require more planning and they would have come up with a better story, a story more believable and one they would all stick with.

The only thing I am certain of is, since Natalee was seen leaving C & C, this whole case has become a "black hole".

I can say that I have a distaste for you somewhat due to comments you've made. You seem to desire the media attention for whatever reason. I was shocked at your posts where you get all excited about hearing from O'Reilly's people, or another media outlet, only to be let down when you find out they want you to put them in contact with other people more closely linked to the events.

It has been widely reported that Joran and Natallee were in some way "hooking up", so it is very likely (IMO, most likely) that she left her group of friends by choice. And it is also quite likely that some of her friends were not so happy about that.

When I was a teen, I saw (more times than I can count) a girl leave her group because she was interested in some guy from another group. A lot of times her main group was not very happy about this, and many times I saw young girls put themselves in compromising situations simply because they wanted to try and hook up with a guy they had met and were interested in (ie: leaving in a car with the guy and a group that is not well known to her, or going to a party that the guy is going to even though she doesn't know anyone else there, etc).

Being that this was their final night on their graduation party trip, this is very likely the reason that she left with JVDS. And this is also why I don't think the friends should be blamed, when a young girl gets fixated on spending time with a boy they've met, they will do pretty much anything to be with them (whether it is sneaking out of your house at 1am, or leaving your friends at a bar and going with people you don't know well)... I've watched this happen time and time again.

Now, this is NOT a blame at Natallee (heavens no! so please don't distort what I am saying), leaving with a guy she's met does NOT mean she deserves the horrible things that have happened to her, I am simply saying this in regards to the constant attempt to blame the friends for letting her leave, and people being so confused on WHY should we leave with JVDS. The situation I described above is what very likely took place.

I too, find this entire case a mystery. The mine
shafts are a great point that we continue to hear very little about. In an earlier post someone said a psychic saw her in or near water and a dark place (I can't remember the exact quote verbatim, sorry!) but the mine shafts would certainly fit that as well if you choose to believe in the psychic possibility.

I continue to find it amazing that they have NO substanital physical evidence, or at least none that we know of. How on earth could potentially drunk teenagers leave no trace of evidence if it was an unplanned accident.

I trust that Aruban officials have SOME evidence or why would they hold the 4 individuals?

I'm hoping one of them spills their guts soon as they should be realizing by now that it is not going away.

About 10 years ago, I was vacationing in Nassau, Bahamas and we went to a restaurant (originally an old house converted to a restaurant). Under that restaurant we toured the wine cellar that was in an underground room with a tunnel. The tunnel was used during the slave trading days. There could be these types of buildings on Aruba that need to be checked.

Does anyone know if J's dad owns any beach houses, or any other houses, apts. or timeshares that might be available to J and his friends? What about any sail boats or yachts that could be available to him?

What about any hotel rooms that he might have for his use. His dad being a prominent person in town might have some connections for houses, boats and/or hotel rooms. To entertain fly-in clients of course!

Also, some (and I do mean some) people that know more than one language in addition to English, occassionally act like they can barely speak English. This is at times when it is convenient for them, of course. I would have thought that J's dad being a lawyer studying to be a judge would have a better command of the English language. He seemed to be stumbling over his speaking while he was admitting Beth through the gate of his home. Or was his timid behavior simply a ruse?

I'm sure the Dad-VDS knows whats going on. And I think it was an accidental death by Overdose, and then a huge cover up. But not by the authorities.
I think everyone involved is covering each other's ass.

Seems to me that if the VDS Kid was out gambling with his father's permission at all hours of the night, when Mom-VDS was out of town (and mom, being oblivious to some serious details....), then the Dad+Kid have an "understanding" of some sort, and the Kids not stupid.... He would have realized as soon as things went "wrong" that night, the implications not only to himself, but how this "problem" would impact his father's career. His Dad (in the Kids mind) was the first person to tell! (Dad will KNOW what to do!)

You know, on a small island, small community, a judge knows everybody....even if he is just a judge-in-training. I even heard the guy on that '95 radio station is related to the VDS'.

I realize it's all speculation, but I think the reason the investigation is going so slow is not because these are "Keystone Kops", but because there are so many people involved and trying to cover each other, and with the laws in Aruba the way they are, it's just a web of a mess.

I also think we still have alot of unconfirmed supposed "facts".

It's a waiting game, a puzzle...and it's unfortunately intrigueing (sp?).

And it all just breaks my heart.

A friend of the family, David Baldwin, was murdered in Freeport, Bahamas in 1982. Along with a friend, he had gone to the casino to gamble, and the two just disappeared. Not much help from the police, who implied the men (in their 30s) were involved in drugs. Bodies found in a cave on the island about a year later. No search, no clues, no suspects. David's wife and parents went a year wondering until the bodies were discovered and identified.

I agree with you 100%. In addition, the girl on TV (sorry, I don't remember her name, but she was the one who said NH helped her with calculus) said there were two groups leaving at about the same time. I'm sure it would be difficult for anyone to account for all of their friends, and there was no reason for anyone to focus on NH.

As a point of interest, you know what this girl meant by "two groups"? I think NH arrived by bus. Were there two busses that left from the Holiday Inn, perhaps? Do you know anthing more about how they arrived, and how they planned to get back to the hotel? How large the "groups" were?

I don't know how they had planned to get back, this is the first mention I've heard of buses. I had previously heard that a large group of them were leaving C&C's and walking to another nearby bar. I also heard reports that some were taking taxis back to the hotel (and 1:30am would be a time that would correlate well with that, as that is a time that certain people would likely be pooped out and ready to head home, while others would be continuing to another place). So, under those situations, I agree with you, there is no way anyone could realistically account for all heads... I kinda get the feeling that it was a 'everyone for themselves, party hard on the final night' mentality.

I can't find that link but it should be on a travel brochure of "things to see in Aruba."

Another person who lives there said MacDonalds was not far from HolInn. I've never been there. Perhaps another will answer.

Isn't most of Aruba near water? Probability is high for lighthouse, beach, etc.

And a body would not likely but out in the light, but probably hidden in some place that is, well -- rather dark.

I might have misinterpretd the comment about the busses. One of the students said the that CnC's was recommended by the bus driver. I assumed she meant the bus driver who was taking them to the downtown area, but she might well have been referring to any bus driver - the one who took them from the airport to the hotel, for example.

RealPotentail - From the very first second that I learned that he was a "judge" I voiced my opinion that he was "in on it". I believe that even more strongly now. I think he's very likely a part of the cover-up as well as the hiding of the body. If there drugs are involved it would not surprise me if he knew about the trafficking either. Frankly, nothing that man would I could hear about the man would surprise me. But this is all my suspicions.

When I had seen the interview with the parents and the mom saying her son told her he didn't do anything and left NH on the beach. (Another verison again) who would leave a teen on the beach when you were romatically involved. Right..what a liar! Then the interogation with the three together recently, he lied again in who picked him up. Now, his dad can't remember anything or what time he came in..I believe the whole family are in total denial especially the Mother who says her son doesn't drink, just look on his website it says he does, he gambles to all wee hours of the night and still makes good grades. I wonder if he has someone that does his homework too.

According, to the interview with the mom of JVDS they were in Tampa at Busch Gardens as he is suppose to attend college in Florida this summer. For her info..there are lot of us are reading and watching all the information in this case that live in the vinicity of Tampa, Florida. It is amazing everywhere we go, everyone is very disturbed over this, and talking about this case.

I would be curious to which one JVDS was going to attend, if it is the University of South Florida, the University of Tampa, or perhaps, even the private college Florida Metropoltian University. The latter University there is quite alot of foreign students attend FMU from countries like Columbia, Aruba, and other South America countries. The reason why I know is because I graduated with the elite kids from the foreign countries. Before the War most of the foreign students were from the Muslin countries, and now with the War going on they are coming from the South side of the hemisphere. I was just surprised to hear that they were at Busch Gardens when getting JVS ready for his college studies.

I bet he goes elsewhere like a long prison term at KIA instead. It is quite obvious that something bad did happened just watching the circus parade of this whole event. The most important thing that our focus is on NH. In addition, I agree that not all the media may be positive, but to keep the media attention on this event is positive for NH; otherwise, it would be swept under the carpet hoping everyone would not have enough money to stay long enough to find out the results. Why do you think his parents wanted him to stop talking? Keep quiet, lay low, and it will go away.

Maybe, now they understand the rest of us want our NH back in the USA and we will persue the villians. My family prays for her everyday, and she is in our thoughts constantly. She could be anybody's daughter, and it doesn't matter what country either. If you were a parent and your kid was lost..believe me you would go any extra miles to find them that is a fact of life. Peace and Strength to NH's family. We love you.

I believe she was pushed into the car, or thinking it was a Taxi. I don't believe she was drunk, or willing got into the car with the three men. She was better groomed, and smart enough to know that was a no, no. Remember, this is the young men's verison to make them look good. It worked too, as the Authorities did believe their orignial verison because the elder VDS was a friend of the former Judge.

When I was in the Bahamas it was like that where the civilians would use their own cars as Taxi's. They warn us if we didn't feel comfortable taking the personal taxi's do not get in the car, and especially if there was several men in the car. Their was incidents where American's would get robbed, or something bad happened. (Interesting choice of words..sound familiar).

I also beleive by their choice of words that something bad happened was something an elder adviser told them to say. Perhaps, the elder VDS and I do not think well of him either, by running from the camera's last weekend. All he had to say, I have no comments right now, or something to that effect. Actually, it was quite odd to see a Judge-in-training behaving, and running like that in the first place. Actions do speak louder just like the sweat on his forehead when Greta on the Record in the interview today where the Mrs. VDS had spoken about her tearing alligator tears like my Big Freddy is just sitting right out in my lake just waiting to see what will happen next in Aruba.

As far as Aruba, I can understand how they may take this personally, but crime does happen everywhere and every country. To lead people on by saying it is safe, is B.S. Every place has a space that one should be wary, even here in USA. One should always use caution when traveling to different places and stick with crowds. I had won a trip to Cancun, Mexico and traveled on the bus to a nightclub. I did hang out with couples, or singles that I came in on the bus. When the first bus left, there was a few of us that wanted to stay. When I left by taking a real yellow Taxi, the driver started to drive the opposite away from the hotel. I have a good sense of direction, and remember that wasn't the way and raised hell about it. He fortunately turn around and drove me to Hotel. I told the police officer when he wanted the fee, he was charging me for the extra difference. I told the officer what had happened and he told me to go in and I wouldn't have to pay any fee at all. This was a close call looking back now and I was lucky that something bad did not happened. Thanked God, I am still here but, it allow me to learn a valuable lesson. The sick people do pray on singles in all countries. Always, go with a group, leave with the group, have a buddy, and listen to your first intuitions. Also, have emergency plan, phone numbers, passport or I.D. on you and don't leave it in your suitcase. Did NH have other I.D. or a purse she carried to get in C & C?

I have seen in a vision many times since this happened that Natalie is under a cavelike area, but I didn't really understand what I was seeing until I read about the abandoned mine shafts that have filled up with water, because it kept looking like a sandy grotto, and she was shallowly buried, so I didn't know why it would be so hard to find. The boys knew about these and how hard it would be to find her, but she is at peace. I hope they find her soon so her parents can finally have some closure and try to heal from this nightmare, as much as is possible.

Hi all, i am from Aruba, i would like to say a few things regarding natallee. there are many theories about what happened to her. I heard at least a hundred of them. Here in Aruba we usually have minor crimes mostly. what happened to miss holloway has the entire island in shock, we are not used to this kind of thing happening here, i read a post above that says that every country has crime and it is true. No country is free of crime but as was mentioned above you need to find out where the bad spots are for every country you go, but this is not the point i am trying to come to. What i want to say really is that we are no enemies of the United Stated whom we respect and adore very very much. We would be a very poor island if it was't for the American tourists that come here for vacation.
We support the United Stated in everything you do including the war in Iraq. Can you imagine what the world would be without America?

I am a US college graduate i grew up in your country and i learned to love it as my own.

I myself go out every day from early in the morning till it gets dark with some close friends who claimed vacation days from their jobs. We go to the most secluded and dangerous places on the island (geographycally dangerous)searching and looking into every vein, hole , mine shafts etc. on foot hoping to find her. I am really looking hard but every day that goes by and we don't find any trace sometimes gives me a bit of hope that she might be alive but who knows i have no real info on the case. I am just doing this based on my intuition. I do have experience in this field being the founder and first president of the SAR team here, but we are mostly specialized at sea.

We`are hoping and praying for her and i will keep looking for her until the case is solved.

please understand that it is not Arubas fault that this happened and i know for a fact that the police here are working their butts off on this case. Our government is the worst we ever had and it has hurt us a lot by giving working permits for latin foreignerswithout screening them the correct way. They are selling permits that is their business, but elections are close and i hope we change government.
