After discussions with two independent sources on Aruba this evening, it would appear that a strong working theory by some close to the investigation is that Paulus Van der Sloot was directly involved with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, up to and including disposal of her body after the fact.
This could explain Joran Van der Sloot's unusual interaction with Satish and Deepak Kalpoe during interrogation, as first reported here.
That interaction involved Joran Van der Sloot changing his story immediately after being called a liar by one of the Kalpoe brothers for stating that he had picked him up at the beach.
I asked questions involving a Scared Monkey's report suggesting the Kalpoe brothers and Steve Croes may be released - neither source felt that was likely. In the opinion of one, "the boys are in this up to their ears," and another contact suggested while there will be a court hearing tomorrow, it was not expected that anyone would be released.
Additionally, in a refreshing change, individuals close to the currently ongoing independent search seemed to praise the co-operation of the Aruban Government, as well as the FBI, suggesting that no stone would be left unturned and all co-operation possible would be extended to gain maximum benefit from the independent search.
It was also suggested that police and FBI would be party to the search, as well as supporting it, and that from initial interaction with EquuSearch, they seemed like an incredibly competent group with an impressive capability.
The search could include up to eight divers, as well as resources capable of handling a ground search. Recent fly-overs over several days have been used to identify areas and locations where a body might have been concealed given the last known location of Natalee Holloway and the presumed time line available for that purpose.
If there's anything new in e mail, I'll update below, or here for Blogger News Network readers.

Was visitation ever granted to Paulus and Joran? If so, were those sessions private or with someone from the courts present? Couldn't they have been using that time to get their stories straight?
Posted by: Jamie | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 09:01 PM
Those posting were totally disgusting, my husband is sitting behind me watching television, and when that came up on the screen, he was horrified and wondered what the heck I was doing on the computer.
Please Please Please remove.
I will not open any more posts because my son is home and goes throughout the house. I don't want him to see this garbage.
Thank you so much Dan!

Prayers for Natalee's family. With the arrest of Paul van der Sloot, my hope that she's alive has dwindled. What a tragedy for so many families, the Twittys and Holloways, along with all her friends, and I feel bad for Joren's mom, who seems a wreck. I wish it turned out differently, but, it looks like nothing but destruction of life, and many families affected. So sad. :(

Folks - I have spoken to Dan, he is working on this. I know he is trying to ban ips but not sure about removing previous posts off board.

Jamie...Father has not been in contact with the son since he was arrested. Its was denied because of something he did and said on the first night the mother arrived on the island.
After a month i think they are finally getting somewhere on this. This is an amazing story and if it were not for the news media helping this family nothing would have ever been done about it.
I love the USA..:o) Thank you FOX news & GRETA and the rest for staying on top of this!!!
GOD bless Natalle and her family and friends.

Did anyone hear the comment made by John Gibson today? He said that after the meeting with the VDS family outside there gate off camera you could hear her say "this is where she was a 3:00a.m. on May 30th" ?

If any of you find any other disgusting links or post just copy and paste the entire post with the name and time of them included and send it to DAN in an email . BE SURE TO TELL him which forum it was in. This helps. I am sure he too is concerned and wants to keep this a clean site. It has been a very good place up until the last couple of days.

way to go dan!!
i missed a few days here but i am glad to be back checking in. i just cannot help but think that this is not the first time this clown, A JUDICIAL MINISTER NO LESS, played games behind his wife's back (God willing no one else died).
face it gang, it's gotta be real bad for them to arrest a justice official or even a potenial one.
mary,
glad you are still around keeping everyone in line since day one!! i have been trying to read all the threads from the first one till now. Lotsa info!!
jamie,
the father and son were never allowed to meet since the son was taken into custody
shell,
i feel bad for joran's mom as well, but she had to know something about the character of these two. it is just a painful thing to face. Sadly, a mother's love won't work in court. she was out of the country at the time, so no matter what she says in court, it won't hold up. perhaps if she took a look at the man she was married to a while back, she could have prevented all of this. I don't know, I am not her and I am certainly not God. but as mothers we have to take our heads out of the sand if not for ourselves, for our kids.

ALl the posts will be deleted and the IP's banned as soon as possible. You'll have to ignore them in the meantime. But they'll be gone by tonight. Some software is being upgraded in another area of typepad and I don't want to delete them just now to avoid deleting the wrong posts.

This is to Jan who kept bemoaning the fact that the poor little ole 17-year-old wasn't allowed to see his father, even after so many of us explained to her why he couldn't. I hope after the "father's" arrest she now has "got it."

Mother of Natalee doing a great interview on Fox now. This mother is incedible. :O)
We should be proud that there are moms out there in the world like her.
I cannot say enough good about her.
Wonder what email address you use to email her ?
I would like to send her an encouranging email.
Anyone know.
Please watch this over tonite later if you missed it.
Coming up on GRETA'S show at 10:00 on the east coast an interview with the mother of the two boys. Finally !!!
This should be interesting!!!
Stay tuned.

On Fox, an offical just confirmed what Dan said above. Paul Van Der Sloot is being held as a suspect in having taken part in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway.
Mrs. Twitty just said during an interview with Alan Combs that she believes her daughter has been kidnapped and is still alive somewhere. She was adamant about this, and she also said that more arrests are to come. She believes Natalee is still on Aruba and is being moved around from palace to place. Good grief! Could my theory I posted earlier be correct???
Posted by: TS | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 09:56 PM
mary,
i just saw that too!! god bless this woman!! of course it is only 7 out here so i get to watch it twice!!
i just heard that prosecuter whose last name is also croes all but come out and say that the father is involved in more than just hiding evidence and that she is satisfied that they released the boys initially. so now it seems that they were really putting a tail on the elder flying dutchman all along.
this is really bad, not to mention for his wife and younger two kids let alone the most obvious, natalees family and friends.
Posted by: elaine | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 09:58 PM
My heart breaks for BHT. I just watched her interview on Hanady and Colmes. She believes Natalie was kidnapped and is still alive and on the island.
It is a classic case of denial. Her husband should perhaps prepare her for the worst. If Natalee had been kidnapped wouldn't there certainly have been a huge ransome request by now?
Or am I missing something?
At any rate, it is just incredibly sad to not know...
Posted by: mary j. | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 10:02 PM
ts,
i just don't think so. BUT i do believe it to be the case in others. I grew up in south florida and am quite familiar with the "lifestyle" and definately definately see that as a yes in many cases, just for some reason not this one.
one can honestly hope though. if so you can just imagine what this could open up.
in people magazine a few weeks back there was an article about natalee and this possiblility and it involved amissing american woman and a naval officer who went to a brothel in the caribean. the women took the officer alive in the brothel id'd herself and begged him to get her help. most likely out of embarrasment, he did not go to the authorities about it for years. for some reason he did not go to the authorities for years, so the article stated. it was too late by the time he did.
Posted by: elaine | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 10:04 PM
God I hope Natalee is still alive.
We can always pray and hope she is.
Posted by: Websleuthing | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 10:06 PM
those two indian boys were set up like the two black security guards by the big shot judicial guy who thought he would get away with this and perhaps even be the one to try them in the end (or atleast have a friend do it)
their mother is not lying. these boys don't know jack sh**
Posted by: elaine | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 10:17 PM
If she was in fact kidnapped, you would not see a ransom request. They already have half of the perpetrators between bars.
Would you request ransom when you know that there are 3 or 4 people that can quickly blow your cover by making a deal with the prosecutors?
They are screwed when it comes to trying to collect any ransom. They are also screwed if they just drop her off somewhere for her to contact authorities...she will lead authorities right back to them.
Its a bad deal for the girl right now if she is in fact alive. I am still feeling that she perished on May 30th...but of course hope that I am wrong.

Goldie -
Stay the hell off of this site you stupid asshole! You are obviously a freak to have found shit like that...Too bad the VDSloots didn't get a hold of you.
Posted by: Lesli | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 10:26 PM
Dan, you have a great site and put so much work into this, but, dont be so quick to give yourself credit for so many "you heard it here first" items. It takes away from the site for you to toot your own horn. JMHO.
Posted by: Voluble | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 10:34 PM
The chances this is a kidnapping are pretty small. What is the incentive for kidnapping her? Would father and son be involved in a kidnapping ring together? Certainly they'd know she'd be missed?
The arrest of Paulus suggests to me more than anything that she is dead! Joran went to his dad for help. Paulus, trying to save his son from a long prison sentence, instructed Joran to get rid of the body and probably participated in it, which included employing a boat to take the body out to see. There is good chance Paulus' strategy will work out in the end.
Posted by: rtriangle | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 10:51 PM
rtriangle,
I think there is "little" or "no chance" Paulus' strategy will work. Daddy is now behind bars and I bet cha Joran will spill the beans. If he hasn't already. If they didn't take her out to sea, they're collective butts will tighten when the search team arrives.
Posted by: bamaguy11 | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 11:04 PM
bamaguy11,
you said...
"If they didn't take her out to sea, they're collective butts will tighten when the search team arrives."
I hope they find her but I think she was likely dumped at sea... and that is a terribly big pond... and its been almost a month. There is indeed "little" chance they will find a body.
Posted by: rtriangle | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 11:13 PM
Perhaps they picked up Daddy VDS to pressure the son into a confession. People are obviously more likely to fess up to something if it is affecting their family. Of course, the emotional torture should be enough, but obviously arresting the father presents more of an encouragement.
Posted by: Ctella | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 11:19 PM
rtriangle,
you are right. I have a crazy feeling that she is buried on the island. If that's the case, the dogs will find her. They are incredible. I don't buy the "Tattoo" boat out to sea theory. I think Steve C. was the GHB connection.
Posted by: bamaguy11 | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 11:20 PM
Joran's mom is out of tragically out of touch. He drinks, he gambles at 3:00 a.m., he's lying about his age and the fact the he is high school student on the internet, he's trolling for women on the internet. What is it about the mothers of teenage boys that makes them do this? Whenever you talk to the mother of a young male you'd get the feeling he has no gonads and sleeps with a teddy bear.
When Joran's mother that there was a fight with another student, that was solved by talking to the other student's parents as opposed to calling the police, that was a red flag to me. You can be se wedded to that "everything is alright" mentality that you disregard any evidence that doesn't go with it. It also excuses you from the necessity to act and to curtail outside activities to be home more. Unforetunately it can all end tragically. Everything is alright until it isn't.
Posted by: Cerulean | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 11:43 PM
I think they should tell Joran that his dad couldn't take the pressure so he took his own life - maybe that would make Joran start talking. That would be a horrible lie but this is a horrible crime.
Posted by: Hman | Friday, June 24, 2005 at 12:44 AM
Hman: funny you should say that. If you look at past episodes of the great classic mystery Morse, there is a show that deals with Inspector Morse writing a false letter to the mother of the victim, to try and flush out more suspects. Unfortunately what happened was that another innocent victim got killed.
Posted by: Websleuthing | Friday, June 24, 2005 at 02:45 AM
i still believe Joran is innocent of the bigger charge that most persons are tryin to levy on him.
I think like natalie the most he is guilty of is makin an unwise/foolish decision after the night/morning session didn't go as planned eg leavin her unattended on the beach in her 'condition'
So what, he told a lie, to try to save his a**, should we send him to the gallows for that? are we to assume that evcerything else that he says is a lie?
The American justice system has taught that when a crime is comitted, u pick a suspect n let the charge stick at all costs - perfect example -, IRAQ was responsible in part for 9/11 lets Bomb them.
To this day evidence suggests otherwise.
Joran has been tried, judged n condemned by many persons contributing here... have all the knowns been consolidated? have all the unknowns been discarded? i think not
