Natalee Holloway: Scuffle Preceded Disappearance

The Birmingham Post-Herald has reported that the recently arrested Joran Van der Sloot was in a pushing match with some of Natalee Holloway's friends earlier on during the night of her disappearance.

One of the three young men arrested Thursday in the disappearance of Mountain Brook teen Natalee Holloway got into a pushing match with some of her friends in an Aruban bar, one of Holloway's friends said Thursday.

Bryan Reynolds, 18, one of 124 recent high school graduates whowent to Aruba in late May, said some of his friends almost got into a fight with Joran Andreas Petrus Van Der Sloot and his friends.

The scuffle started after Van Der Sloot, a Dutch suspect arrested at his upper-class home in Oranjestad, Aruba, Thursday morning, had been talking to 18-year-old Holloway at a bar where she and classmates hung out during the five-day trip, Reynolds said.

The two brothers arrested with Van der Sloot, Satish Kalpoe, 18, and Deepak Kalpoe, 21 claim that Natalee Holloway and Van der Sloot were kissing in the rear of the vehicle now impounded by authorities.

The three are currently scheduled to appear before a judge on Saturday. The judge will rule on the justification for their being held while the investigation continues. Pictured above from left to right are Satish Kalpoe, Joran Van Der Sloot, and Deepak Kalpoe.

As depicted in the second image, many of the pictures associated with the young men seem to depict an adolescent lifestyle modeled on a presumably faux "gangsta" style, also often played at by many middle and upper-middle class youth in America today.

In a webpage maintained by Van der Sloot's younger brother which was viewed earlier today at Tickle dot com he listed his occupation as "Pimp." The web page is not being linked as his age is unknown and he has not been implicated in this incident.

Additionally one group picture associated with the older Ven der Sloot's now gone web page was entitled "The Pimps." WHile this cultural phenomenon may not differ all that much from that of many American teenagers, it is not putting a pretty face on the tiny island of Aruba which depends almost entirely on tourism to support its economy.

Bill, Isn't the rest of the world so wonderful, they so want to be like us. Just like in the U.S. when someone tries to get away with a crime they blame the black guy(s). Please! Boycott America! In fact, take everyone with you who isn't in America to become Americans.

What upsets me about the investigation to find Natalie is I've seen cover ups and this looks just like one.

I know the Kalpoe brothers are Surinamese, but they look Middleastern. I don't want to blame Arabs, but slavery in the world today, including the white slave trade is a Moslem endeavor. Does anyone know where information can be found about these two men?

I'm absolutely astounded at all the finger pointing going on here w/ the exception of a few posters. Have you all forgotten *THE* most important thing? A young girl is missing and three young men stand to lose their lives as they know it. This is HORRIBLE all the way around. I feel for everyone invovled. Slinging mud in the form of F--- Aruba and F---U.S. does Nothing. As an attorney let me fill you in on something. And this is why I beleive this specific case has become so emotionally charged. Those in the U.S. are used to the U.S. legal system, the Aruban legal syatem is different on many aspects. I'm not commenting on which is better~they are just *different*....My friend is an International Attorney who practiced in the Netherlands, which is the Law Aruba falls under. I think a lot is lost in interpretation of the law, etc. Also, in the U.S. we are used to information being released to the public(reasonably), this is not the case in Aruba. Therefore, alot of what you people are posting regarding your 'theories' are just that: 'theories'. If they are indeed factual, what is your source? We can speculate ALL we want, but we just don't have the answers right now. Do i think this young Van der Sloot man's story is highly suspiciuos? Yes. No. And...One other thing I want to express: there has been talk of the 'date rape' drug...speculation, of course. Whomever stated you can be drugged and still have some coherency is dead wrong. I had a friend who was ruf-eed, she could not STAND UP...we took her to the E.R. and it was determined the drug was put in a drink of hers. Regardless if Natalee was fall down drunk or her friends weren't paying attention while she got into a car, that in NO WAY makes anything that happenned to her against her will Okay. Come on people, why don't we just revert back to saying if a woman is dressed in a provocative manner she is 'asking for it'. Please. Finally, I've never visiting Aruba. I understand its a beautiful island. As an attorney I have my theories as to why Aruban authorities have resisted the U.S. help. However, I'm not sure I understand. i'm not putting down the Government, however if the island, as I've read is not one that experiences many Homicides, and clearly the U. ARUBA LIES AND COVERUP

More information is coming out about the Aruban investigation into the disappearance of an Alabama teenager. One suspect who was jailed for 10 days tells CNN why he initially lied to police. And an Aruban judge told his son -- who is still in police custody -- that without a body police would have no case, the island's chief prosecutor said.

I'm amazed at how convinced all the 'experts' posting info here are that Aruba is doing this bad bla bla bla, this may be true or not. However, the world now believes we have become an unprincipled bully and the arrogance of segments of the media and the public demanding greater roles for our law enforcement agencies in the investigation reflects that. If a Mexican or British citizen were to die murdered in the US (a far more likely scenario than an American murdered in Aruba) you're telling me we would allow great participation from their law enforcement agencies? I don't think so. The countries of the world are not the 51st,52nd, 100th states of the union. If they want help they can ask for it. We should not ram ourselves down their throat....
You all are right on one point though...the Arubans may not be conducting the best investigation (they probably are spending half the time navigating thru reporters)...they just don't have experience, we do a much better job of killing, raping, hurting each other giving our law enforcement agencies plenty of expertise. We had 'Conservative Christians' sexually assaulting girls at the USAF Academy, liberals (Slick Willie)sexually harrassing interns....boy, we sure are morally superior.
If Natalee had been a poor black girl from rural south carolina or the Bronx ghettos this whole mess probably would have gotten a footnote in some papers.

Please everyone, just wait. Allow the investigation to run its course. We are not the judges, and we do not even know what happened. After reading on, I guess there are some reasonable people left. I've been to Aruba a number of times as well as other places. Aruba is my favorite, the nicest people and I feel safe enough to travel alone. Something went wrong and with all the efforts I hope we can find answers to what happened that night. I agree - the behavior of the young adults that travel is absolutly amazing to me - I'm more amazed more harm doesn't come to them. In many ways, you can discover by observing while you travel that intelligence obtained at a facility can never outdo the intelligence that your born with... Gangsta - is not the way of intelligent people and it certainly doesn't gain respect...

People, I Have kids myself, And sure some of you too. I can understand if my kid will get harmed in an accident, But I will never accept, my kid to just vanish while in the presence of others(the 3 suspected teens). people get harmed, raped and murdered every day in America, at least their fate is known. But this case is different, Reading some reports about the father/judge, he was telling his son from second day when Natalee disappeared, without a body the police have no case aginst you. what a comment?. I totally agree that prosecutors and investigators in Aruba are the worst ever seen, they should crack those kids big time. those 3 teens are not talking/telling the truth for a reason. I am very frustrated with the Aruban police and investigators, they are very unexperinced and had a casual approach to this case, at least in its first few weeks, therefore, it just became more difficult for them to resolve. they made so many errors with this investigation, especially in the begining. prosecutors should prepare to charge those kids now, perhaps that will get it them to talk. Nothing aginst Aruban people at all, sure they are hoping to resolve this case. My heart is there for Natalee and family.

I have been staying on top of the Natalee Holloway case. It is so obvious to me that these 3 men had something to do with her disapearance. I def dont look at this as being in any part her fault from just how the descriptions of her sound. I don't know what happened that night but leaving with 3 strangers doesnt sound like the typical Natalee. I believe she was there to have a great time. Probably had a few drinks and her body wasnt used to the consumption of alcohol and i believe the boys gave her a drug that made her have a bad reaction. I dont think they killed her intentionally but I think they did. I do not think this is at all the aruban peoples fault. We need to stop blaming the friends, the parents, and anyone in aruba other than the 3 men that last saw her and whose stories are switching quite often which to me, is a huge clue to me and probably many of us. I see that there is a lot of blame towards her friends that night. I know from previous experience that while under the influence of alcohol, it is sometimes quite hard to know exactly what is going on. I imagine that the teens that were also there that night were prob just having a good time and didnt concentrate on who was with who or anything. They were also leaving at different times. I do pray for this family, the aruban people and also the suspects as well.

My heart goes out to Beth twitty and all of Natalees extended family. The Arubans should be more sympahetic towards Beths anger , this is her daughter remember . She is obviously distraught and misses her daughter terribly! I really feel bad about this whole mess. My questions to your government about Natalee Holloway:
Natalee’s parents arrived in Aruba the day her daughter failed to get on the plane home. Her mother said she confronted Joran van der Sloot, telling him "I want my daughter back" at his parent's home around 3 a.m. on May 31, 2005.
When Natalee’s mother asked him a question Joran, the son of a judge in training on Aruba, responded "in the most arrogant, condescending manner" and replied "What do you want me to do?" Is this the response of an innocent man?
Police told Natalee’s mother van der Sloot admitted to them he had engaged in "sexual acts" with Holloway the night of her disappearance, and how did he do that? GHB, why was she told he was at a hotel that he was never at? Was he lying again?
If Jordan Van der Sloot didn’t kill her, then why has he kept lying and changing his story around so much? Why not just tell the truth?
Why has Paul Van Der Sloot, lied and gave advice to the Kalpoe brothers “NO BODY NO CASE”? Is he not directly involved with the disappearance of Natalee Holloway?
The Kalpoe brothers and 17-year-old Joran van der Sloot were among the last people to see Holloway, 18, before she vanished on the last night of her high school graduation trip to Aruba. Why if nothing happened did the Satish and Deepak Kalpoe make up different stories? Why did Joran Van der Sloot change his story immediately after being called a liar by one of the Kalpoe brothers for stating that he had picked him up at the beach?
Joran van der Sloot and the Kalpoe brothers originally told police they left Carlos and Charlie’s with Holloway about 1 a.m. on May 30, and drove to a nearby beach before dropping Holloway off at her hotel about an hour later. The brothers later changed their account and said they dropped van der Sloot and Holloway off together. Van der Sloot says he left her at a beach near her hotel and went home more lies are they building a web? How can he still work for the government?
Why has your government not issued a reward in her disappearance? I definitely know those three individuals and his father have involvement in her disappearance,” It is pretty plain to see to me that it’s all about money and politics. Van der Sloot is a big judge in training so the Arubans are trying their best to get his son out of trouble.
Aruba also knows that if it is known that someone was murdered on their island it might have a negative impact on their tourism, which is the main source of Aruba’s income. Jordan Van der Sloot may be still in jail now, but your government has tried their hardest to get him off the hook,
When Paulus van Der Sloot told his son “No body no case” he practically admitted he either helped dispose of her body or knows his son and anyone else who may have helped him did. He seems to be very sure that her body will not be able to be found.
He should not have been set free and he should have been forced to talk. Jorans dad knows what happened to Natalee. He is protecting his son in this. I think the Kalpoe brothers are innocent and I believe they dropped off Natalee and Joran around a mile from the Holiday Inn to have a little romance thing and it turned out that Natalee said no and Joran got physical with her and a altercation happened in which Joran either threw her when she was trying to run away and she either hit her head on a rock or something hard and she was knocked out. Joran then panicked and called his dad and told him I think I killed someone on accident and Paulus van Der Sloot then drove to that location and figured out what to do with the body. I don’t think 3 teenagers would be able to cover up a murder without any evidence being found so that’s my input.
And why did your government wait 10 days to try to collect evidence from the suspects’ bodies, clothes, homes, and belongings, you did not do that in the original two black suspects. Most if not all the evidence could have been done away with by then. And why did your police wait so long about searching certain areas, like the water for instance.

I know that this may be alittle strange for some of you to hear or to understand, but I am able to hear Natalee speak to me. She has told me that she was raped by all three men and that Deepak was the one that that hit her with his fist in her face and she fell back onto the sand, then he proceeded to strangle her.

She was then placed in the trunk of the car, and they drove to the new hotel where the two brothers worked, and the wrapped her up in some bedspreads and shoved her into the incinerator
in the basement of the hotel.

I hear her voice every day asking why these brothers and Joree being allowed to get away with murdering her when she had a life.

Natalee said that if someone would just check the incinerator, that there should be something
like a trace of human bones or a trace of something.

I've read through this blog and I'm really bothered by all the finger pointing. I understand it's human nature to place blame to relieve bad feelings and cope with tragedy but come on!
To place blame on their Government or the people of Aruba or even suggest boycotting Aruba seems ridiculous and ignorant. To me it seems they have gone out of their way to find this young woman. As a mother myself, my anger would be towards the monsters who took my daughter way from me, not the people who are trying to help me. I also read comments that they "have to help because they rely on tourists". Let's face it people, vacationers will not stop going to Aruba because of this. A small group may be reluctant at first but like every other tragedy people will move on.
Another thing I think we should be careful of doing is pointing fingers at the influence Van der Sloots family has and whatever pull they used to get their son out of trouble. Those in glass houses shouldn't through stones.....EXAMPLE, the Kennedy's. How much trouble have they gotten each other out of using their political influence, including I might add, Ted Kennedy murdering a young girl. How ironic.
I must say that all of the evidence does suggest that one or all of these boys had something to do with this or knows more then they are letting on. You never know though. If they didn't do anything they are probably changing their stories around because they were with this young lady the night she disappeared and are obviously very scared.
I don't know if they are guilty or innocent. It's not for me to make that judgement. I pray the truth will come out so this poor family can get some kind of closure.
I will not blame the people of Aruba or the government. Unfortunately you take a risk when you visit another country. They have different laws and a different government. I think they are doing all they can to find her and I hope this nightmare ends for everyone soon.

I'm sorry to hear so much negativity toward others. I'm ashamed of some of my fellow Americans comments. I don't and we shouldn't blame the people of Aruba. I believe that most are probably good people. There are good and bad in ALL PEOPLE GLOBALLY, they know who they are. It upsets me, however, to see such a corrupt and botched up mess and it seems so obvious that it is a major cover-up effort because the Vander...family has influence/power over the island and for the so-called authorities to mess with that would be like cutting their own throats. Seems like they had a good thing going and exposure would surely hamper that "happy" island, wouldn't it? I am in favor of boycotting...the states have many wonderful places to visit! And by the way folks...if you haven't gotten it yet, nobody is immune from terrorism for those who think it exists only in the Middle East.
