Natalee Holloway Suspect May Have Contacted Blogger Hours Before Arrest

UPDATE: A reader suggested pinging the IP associated with the emails. I am afraid I am not a techie but I did manage to do this. The emails originated at SLBH/SETAR ARUBA SPRINTLINK.

The reader provided image at right is said to picture, left to right Satish K, Joran Van Der Sloot, and Deepak K the three men arrested today in the Natalee Holloway disapearance.

The Dutch suspect, Joran Andreas Petrus Van Der Sloot, a student at Aruba International School, came out of his home in the upper-class neighbourhood of Oranjestad on Thursday with his head covered in a blue-and-green towel. Police identified the Surinamese brothers only as Satish and Deepak K.

The face of Van Der Sloot is blurred in keeping with a commitment made to an emailer from last night who claimed to be Joran Van Der Sloot. Prior to altering the image, it was indeed Van Der Sloot as I have come to see him through his now down tickle.com website.

I'm well aware that today's age of Internet communication allows for anyone to pretend to be whomever they wish through anonymous emails; however, if I had reason to suspect it was not Joran who emailed, I would not make this report. But, in all candor, I have no way of absolutely confirming the identity of the emailer.

As was once displayed here, this blogged contained an image of Joran Van Der Sloot after the image seemed to be taken down from its original location at Current Affair. While I am sure the image appears elsewhere, the emailer claiming to be Van Der Sloot politely requested that the image be taken down out of respect for his privacy stating it was one of the few remaining he could find, that he was only 17 and that he didn't want to see his face plastered all over CNN. He also stated that he hoped to one day travel to the US to continue his education, presumably at the college level.

My initial response was to request verification of his identity, however without waiting to hear back I wrote the individual again after dropping the image and stated it was a sign of good faith and asked if he could communicate with me. I also said that I felt I understood some aspects of his position, that there is much he could not and should not say, but felt that at the same time there may be some things he could and should perhaps say given all the reports of his involvement. I was surprised when the emailer responded and was fully prepared for it to be a total sham - which admittedly, it could still be.

He stated that he had created a Hotmail account specifically for requesting the image be taken down, that he would not mind communicating if he could but that he would not be able to do so without first talking to his Father.

Late last night I wrote back and suggested that anything he did choose to share should first be reviewed by his Father, purportedly a Judge, and also an attorney.  My email went out just a few hours prior to the six AM arrest of the three suspects and I have not heard back from the account since.

In the very brief four email exchange with an anonymous individual claiming to be Joran Van Der Sloot the individual was polite, guarded and stated that he prayed hoped to God that Natalee would turn up alive. (Ed. Note--This post was originally done from another computer from which I did not have access to the email. After reviewing it, the individual said he "hoped" to God, not "prayed."

That point was not over-emphasized to a degree where I felt there was an agenda behind it, nor did any other aspect of the communication seem disingenuious or out of line with a 17 year old individual with a simple request to have his picture taken down from the Internet.

As a result of those emails and especially due to reports stating he is indeed 17, I altered the displayed picture which was furnished to me by a reader also following developments in the Natalee Holloway disappearance.

younger Van Der Sloot, born Aug. 6, 1987, may have been romantically involved with the 18-year-old
Holloway the night she disappeared, May 30.
The Surinamese brothers in custody are Satish Kalpoe, born July 30, 1986, and Deepak Kalpoe, born
Oct. 6, 1983. They are the sons of a local Aruban business man.
Aruba Attorney General Caren Janssen said the three were arrested at 6 a.m. She refused to say whether
they were connected to the two men already being detained in the disappearance, saying more information
would be released later Thursday.

Look, these men are on record stating they saw Holloway WALK INTO THE HOLIDAY INN after they allegedly dropped her off at the hotel. This is an obvious lie. To compound the matter, they tried to implicate "a black man wearing black trousers and shirt" who allegedly escorted her into the hotel. This again is a lie. We KNOW these are lies because of hotel surveillance cameras.

Why would they lie unless they are involved with Natalee's disappearance and likely murder? Also, if it is true, as reported elsewhere, that all three claim to have had sex with her, then I have little doubt, given this girl's background (of which I am personally familiar with here in Alabama) that she was raped and murdered and these three young men did it. I only hope the Aruban authorities are not corrupted by the influence of these boys' influential parents.

The lawyer said that his client (the guard) said that he had spoken to Joran in the cell at the Noord police station….he said that he heard JOran crying and asked him what is going on?! And JOran said that he is scared that his freinds are blamign things on him becuase what happened is that…they went with Natalee and drove around then they dropped him off, he got natalee’s email addres, and the 2 guys (Kalpoe brothers) and Natalee drove of at home, and he hasnt seen them anymore….so the lawyer said that now more than ever their is no reason to detain his client

The story is somethign that the 3 boys made up at home by the pool” adn now other kids also said that on monday Joran walked out into the woods by the school and stayed a while…maybe that was the 2 boys teling him about the “story”to tell?? and also here on aruba it is known that the cousins of the 2 Kalpoe boys are “dangerous” people who knows if they have soemthign to do with this?? Hi Everyone..

I think what everyone is trying to say is this is a sad day for a family of a daughter missing, the parents of children accused of such a crime as murder, and the aurthorities who cannot seem to find this missing girl. It's all very sad and it's all very much a waste of a life and/or lives.

This is what this world has come to, burying children alive, raping women, instigating fights, murders, molestations, crimes of with horror like endings. It used to be that when we'd turn on the television to watch a scarey movie, we would be scared. Now all I have to do is turn on the news and I'm more frightened than I've ever been. I have learned to watch people around me, hold my purse beside me, dress appropriately, not go anywhere alone at night, be suspicious of Arabs, be suspicious of anyone who looks Arab, and certainly ask questions. I lock my doors, once and then twice, I pray, OH GOD, I pray for our troops everywhere, my friends too, my young and sweet friends in the military right now. I worry about the world and I tell my friends not to let their kids out of sight and they smile, but behind the smile I see fear.

So another girl is missing, presumed dead, give me another story to tell my children, another girl to pray about, another fear to ad to the mounting fears that people just don't care anymore.

Well, to those out there, to those who care, do you see how easy it would be to just lose a loved one? Every day is a gift, is a moment we're not suffering and is a time we can do some good. Let's start erasing the fears and begin changing the world one person at a time.

when i first heard this story was on june 3 right before i was going away on my beach trip(i was still in the states and im 21 so i was celebrating the end of the college semester with my best friend).my grandma warned me to not talk to people i dont know or get into a strange car and i thought to myself how dumb could this american girl natalee be. i have been overseas before my fiance is from england and i go to england fairly alot. i have been in the town square in thetford alone shopping whilst my fiance went to work but talking to people i dont know is a different story. i thought to myself how good an honors student be so dumb as to get into a car with three men that she barely knew and feel she would be safe. but now that i have returned home on the 9th and have kept up with the stories my heart was stolen by natalee and her family. i still think since they havent had any trace of her body look into the sex trade. she could as we speak be in some foriegn country working as a prostitute. if she is dead with i pray every night that she isnt i do believe joran probably had something to do with it. he just seems to me too shady to be innocent. but i still pray for her family and although i never met natalee or knew her personally she has somehow become like a sister to me. i just wish the best for this tragic story

I don't get why the 3 boys didn't accompany NH back to her room, to make sure that she was OK, needed anything, water, etc. Did they even go to her after she supposedly stumbled and was "helped" by a security guard? Or did they just drive away?
Another point: It's so frustrating that the authorities are not saying anything. We only want the truth. Enough of "he said, she said"! Why don't they just come out and say it?

Natalle was not dropped off at the Holiday Inn or helped by two guards. JVDS and the Kalpoe brothers told that story originally and have so far had three versions of what happened that night.
