This is a two part post, additional information and images in post below and at Blogger News Network.
The image at right is an outside daytime view of Carlos and Charlies, the Aruban version of a string of night spots from Texas to Cozumel and Cancun.
Additional images of the Arashi Beach area are below. As mentioned in the post above, the terrain is not that of a simple sand beach. The area where Natalee Holloway was last reported to be taken before being dropped at her hotel is not an easy one to search.
The search is all the more complicated by the surrounding water - home to difficult tides and currents. As previously reported, the Auban authorities have requested the asistance of the FBI through a special diving teram capable of searching amid the currents and under water outcroppings in the area.
Natalee Holloway has been missing for nearly a week and although early reports from the family stated that the impression they were given by Aruban authorities was the the case would move forward very quickly after the weekend, the information coming from the government remains sketchy, at best. It is unclear if that is by design, so as to not hinder the investigation, or if it involves their significant concern over the damage this incident may do to their tourist trade.
Aruba has always enjoyed a reputation as a carefree wonderland. The Natalee Holloway disappearance could result in the public taking another look. Home to casinos, discos and nightspots with a drink and rock until you drop attitutde, it's unclear if future trips like the senior class trip Natalee was on will find Aruba to be an acceptable destination in the near future.

IF THEY CAN GET THE BOYS TO TALK ALL OF THIS SPECULATION COULD STOP . THEY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED.SO DOES THE GOVERNMENT OF ARUBA.STOP COVERING UP BECAUSE OF WHO THE FATHER IS.
THIS IS WHAT IS GOING TO HURT THE TOURISM BUSINESS.

To I doubt it;
I think what Sara meant with 'you people' are the persons that still think that Aruba has a Racial problem. Could be a white/black/yellow or blue person, American or not, or simply a ignorant who just wanted to write something. I don't know I don't know who Goldie is.
To Goldie, I think you have to stop writing stupid things. Aruba a Racist island? You know how many racial discrimination cases has been presented to court. How many hate crimes has there been? You know how many gays were bashed? ZERO!!
Here you can call a black or white guy what ever you want, they have no low self esteem, they don't discriminate themselves. Can you do that in other country or city? Don't think so. Here, if you were born here or not, or you're an immigrant, black, white, yellow, jew, muslim, cristian, straight or not, male/female, young or old, poor or rich you call yourself ARUBAN. Nothing less and nothing more.
Im Dutch, but i don't call myself dutch-aruban. My friend who was born in South Africa and came here with 2 years and parents from that region, does not call himself african aruban, but Aruban.
There has never been tension with any other race, except when we had to turn back an Arabian Nation tankership 'cause we had an American Cruiship in town a few years ago.

CLARA GORDON, GET REAL!!
No One is covering anything!! The authorities are just not talking to the media BECAUSE THEY WANT TO SOLVE THIS CASE!!
The father of the boy has no influence whatsoever!! He is just a public servant, an office clerk at GEA (Gerecht in Eerste Aanleg). Going to classes to become a judge. Lawyers and judges can not influence outcome of an investigation by police and even one with the help of international investigators including FBI!
And secondly THIS IS NOT GONNA HURT THE TROURISM INDUSTRY, NOT EVEN THE AMERICAN, You know why?
Couse not Americans are ignorant and narrow minded like you, trying to imply cover up and as always conspiracy theories.
The authorities definitely know more than the media, may be even more than the boys but they are not interested in convicing the media but to convince a judge in a trial!! Get that, please!.

"I feel like that we are working in a collaborative effort," Beth Holloway Twitty told CNN's "American Morning."
"From the family to the FBI to the local authorities to the Aruban government to the U.S. government, I feel like we are all in this investigation, and I do feel like we are beginning to proceed forward. ... That's where I want to go because that will help us find our daughter."

I find it totally weird that no news is heard of the two boys parents or Jorens dad. Are these boys orphans or is Jorens parents divorced. I am sure this is not the only girl assaulted in aruba by them Tourist or local. Now is the time for them to come out and say.

Thank you ITHOUGHT.
Makes me wanna go and live there.
I totally dig the idea of NO discrimination:
when people don't feel different from others because of their race, nationality, religion, believes etc.
When there are no minorities or majorities, no equal opportunity programs, no black month, no society of professional females, no Irish pride, no jewish pogroms (massacre), no nazis and so on ...
Unfortunately, you are right - it is hard to find a place like that in the world.
Hopefully your beautiful island will stay like this.
Peace.

What if, it DID happen the way the boys said:
They kissed in the car, maybe she even made out with the boy, maybe even with all three of them, maybe even at the same time... doesn't matter,
and then they dropped her off at the hotel and left.
And at that moment, she decided to go for a midnight swim.
So she did, and most people when drunk are very poor swimmers.
And what if she simply drowned - you know, if one drowns in the ocean, the chances of finding the body are very slim.
Without the body, convicting the boys will be hard but they'll do it anyway because of the international pressure and that would be it.
What do you all think?
It is not any more stupid than the FBI-conspiracy or Slave-trading theory :)

My thoughts and prayers are with Natalie and her family. I pray for her daily and hope she will be reunited with her family. I feel so much sorrow for what Natalie's family and friends are going through. Peace be with you.

So much hatefulness going on here! Why do we have to attack each other? People are entitled to thier opinions. we should stand together as brothers and sisters. I hate waht has happened to this poor girl Natalee and I pray for her family. I certainly have my opinion of what should happen to those kids who hurt her, but us attaking eachother will not change anything for the good... only bring more hatefulness into this world.
To the Holloway family- I pray for you and admire you for your strength during this hard time... You certainly are stronger than what I was when I went through the same thing....
God bless you....

Yes,
Like all Caribbean, Latin-American and North-American countries Aruba is a racist country. Not openly but hidden. It is very subtle like fairskinned people against darkskinned people. All Arubians know it still they deny it, I have black skinned friends from Aruba and they confirm this. That said this has nothing to do with this case. And Americans are hypocrits, cause the USA has more crime and racism than any other country in that region.

LOL, and what region is that?
In your tiny Europe you have regions - like Holland and Luxemburg.
Here, we got one big country - united and free.
And if you, hypocrites of the world, can not take it...
well, we don't care :))
We're happy people.

"Racist island"?
Coconut, have you ever been there?
Here's a picture site of an arubian gal:
http://connect.tickle.com/photo/index.html?albumid=u_r9xcXM-ywqNCub
She's white, her boyfriend is "dark-skinned" (in your words).
Does she seem to be ashamed of it?
Is she hiding it?
LOL on the web? Nah, she is fine with it.
Because no one there cares about a race. Well, I guess except for your black-skinned friends :)
Anyway, the point is: if you don't know shit, don't bother to advertise your ignorance.
We all could care less.
Peace.

Yes,
I've been there. With my basketball team. I've been in other Caribbean countries. I've been in the USA twice on vacation and in many European countries. What I'm trying to say is that there is no country on earth free of racism. If you are a Chechan in Russia you will discriminated against, if you are a Roma in Rumania the same. It is not that you will not be served in a restaurant. And I'm not claiming everybody in those countries is a racist. You will experience things like not getting a job interview because of a foreign name, and so on.

I agree, discrimination exists everywhere.
People like to get in groups and discriminate against others,
somehow it makes them feel better about themselves.
Just the way we people are.
Sadly. :(

Hell yes...its in the works. How can I get caught? There will just be some 3rd world scum lying around waiting to be taken to intensive care or if they are lucky....a few days at the hospital eating soup because their teeth are kicked out! Damn you Arubans and sympathizers! Think this is funny??? Laugh when I get there you bastards!!!

I think America should boycott Aruba. If Aruba is too proud of a country to accept our help with the investigation then why and the hell should we give them our money in tourism? Any American who visits Aruba since the Natalee incident ought to be ashamed of themselves. Lord knows Natalee isn't the first girl to go missing and she will not be the last. This occurs so often overseas. The only difference in this case and others is that the Holloway-Twitty family is affluent and can actually support an investigation financially. I personally don't understand why big man Bush can't step in and pull some type of intervention to get the Arubian goverment/law force to pull it together? We have a damn "Amber Alert." Why and the hell can't we have a "Natalee Alert" that pulls the U.S. together to find people out of our country? Regardless of whether it happenend out of our country or not, Natalee is still an American through and through...It is also a crock that Van der Sloot gets to talk to his dad the judge official. Sloot's dad will tell Joran what to say and what not to say to get him off the hook. Those three boys know what happened to Natalee. I personally believe that Sloot is solely responsible for Natalee's future or lack of at this point in the ball game. I think the FBI and the local police should TORTURE the boys until they tell them where Natalee is. Regardless of how cruel and uncivilized it may be, I believe that it is the only way to get the answers needed. I don't believe that Aruba is understanding the scope of what is about to happen if they don't step it up and find Natalee or what is left of Natalee. I live about 30 minutes from Natalee's hometown of Mountain Brook. Our entire state is feeling the loss of this girl. We are drawn to the media, clinching to every word and commentary avaiable. I did not know Natalee but I also am going to the Univ. of Alabama as a freshmen on academic scholarship this year. Most likely I would have met Natalee this fall being that we would have shared similar classes. We also have freshmen orientation this week, and because of these 3 boys, Natalee isn't going to be able to be there to pick out her classes like other Bama Bound 18-year-olds. It is all too sad and tragic. I don't mean to be so melodramatic, but my point is that we must do everything to bring closure...to her family, friends, and to her country who is rooting to finally met this wonderful person. EITHER AMERICA NEEDS TO BE THE BAD GUY AND STEP IN(REGARDLESS IF IT HURTS OUR REPUTATION) OR ARUBA NEEDS TO READ UP ON HOW TO HANDLE CRIME CASES (SINCE THEY SAY THEY AREN'T FAMILIAR WITH DEALING WITH THESE TYPE OF ISSUES) FAST.

Wow is this thing being blown out of proportion. A girl goes missing at a beach resort. This is news? How many people go missing every year all over the world? Tens if not hundreds of thousands. I don't see what makes this particular case so freakin important that it deserves non-stop coverage on Fox, CNN, MSNBC and the rest of the media.
It is tragic that this happened, yes but come on, news media, let's put some perspective on this.
And if anyone in the US boycotts Aruba over this; that makes about as much sense as boycotting California because Michael Jackson was set free of boycotting New York City because John Lennon was killed there.

To the family/friends of Natalie Holloway...
It is such a shame that a tragedy like this has to prevail over what should be the beginning of this young woman's future. I too have followed the news reports on the dissappearance of Natalie, and like everyone else I am praying for her safe return. But I can't help but wonder if someone slipped something into her drink like Ectacsy (date rape drug). Still, it would not explain why she hasn't surfaced yet. I pray that she's alright and returns home to her family safely.
Still Praying in Memphis, TN

I want to apologize to our Aruban visitors to this blog.
Please understand that not all Americans are blaming Aruba - the vast majority understand this could have happened anywhere.
Suggesting that the officials there are not being honest is ludicrous. Just because media in the U.S. blow things out of proportion and RUIN legal proceedings does not mean we should expect other countries to be as irresponsbile with their meida as we are. ... It's amazing that we have so many amateur slueths out there, and so much crime in our own nation. You'd think these Sherlock Holmes' would focus on efforts back home.

Unfortunately, if Natalie was kidnapped, it would have been in the arrested boys' favor to have stated that by now. The fact that they are still saying nothing does not auger well, she could be dead & of course, that's why they're not talking. I would have agreed that the most likely scenario would have been an accidental death in some drug/sex situation, however, the arrest now of a dj who works a party boat is very curious - does anyone know why he was arrested? On the news no one is saying anything.
I do have to agree with the lawyer who was on CNN last night - who stated that although the 3 boys are still being held, they are basically treating them very gently - that they really need some people like our FBI to do some hard questioning of these kids, unfortunately Aruba will not permit that because we have no jurisdiction there. I find it awful strange that they have not yet been able to get a 17 yr old boy to give some details - so in view of that, do agree that although they are being held, they are certainly not getting any agressive questioning - for whatever reason. The whole case is very strange. I lived in Grenada which is close to the ABCs (aruba, bonaire, curacao) for a few years as a medical student, & there certainly is drug smuggling going on all up & down those island b/c/o proximity to south america. People smuggling, though, I don't know. However, date rape drugs are used there as well as in the U.S. I knew a medical student in Grenada it happened to - she was not raped because her friends saw the guy carrying her over his shoulder (lifeless) onto the beach (after he had dropped something into her beer) & ran after him & demanded he put her down - which he sheepishly did. She recovered.
So I guess anything is possible in this strange world - she could have been drugged & taken off the island, in which case, the boys planned it prior to that night.

The one thing that really bothers me about this blog and most news items regarding this... Joran is always refered to as a 'boy' ... as if he is some how a child-like innocent... This guy is a man and if indicted should be tried as an adult. He lived in his own appartment (albeit attached to his parents house), he roamed the casinos and bars as an adult and lived a very privlidged, playboy-like existance. To paint him as a boy is a true injustice... he has enjoyed all the rights of adulthood and should be tried as an adult if indicted.

Why doesn't President Bush get involved in some way?!? He pushed his nose into the Schiavo case, so why can't he help another American who can't speak for herself? Get some of the troops out of Iraq and ship them to Aruba, Venezuela and Colombia to rescue Natalee. The Aruban government is useless!

I am saddened by what has happened to this young child she still is a child. My thoughts and prayers are with Natalee and her Family. I pray she will be reunited with her family safe and sound.I think that the chaperons have some part in not keeping track of this child.I also heard that they were not even on the same plane as these children. They may have just graduated from school but they are still to young,to be going to a different country and not being suppervised right, there is evil everywhere, and when you go to a different country they also do'not have the same laws and regulations as are country.
So you have to be careful.
I just came back from Aruba in Febuary it is a very beutiful island..
The people there were wonderful but like everywhere you go there is going to be somenot nice people looking for young, nieve, children .
For the most part the people were friendly, there were a few that just seemed to be acting nice.
But most were very kind and friendly.
Judy have you not learned yet it is not the size that matters it is how they use it? you are really ignorant to make a comment like that, especially if you do'not know Natalee.
I hope if those boys know what happened to her they come clean and tell the truth. They are hurting a lot of people if they know what happened to her.

This is a comment to JUDY...how can you be so crude at such a horrible time in these people's lives! I cannot believe your comment at a time where you should praying for this girl you come up with the most insensitive comment!
My thoughts and prayers are with the Holloway family and I hope that Natalee is found safe!

Canadian Girl, I agree - Judy is a typical blonde bimbo - no brain matter.
But why should she be praying? Huh?
I think that if the girl is dead then someone should get fried for it.
But I am not praying.
And still I care, and still I am a decent person.
What is it with praying?
Has it ever helped anyone? What's done is done.
:(
Don't say someone should be praying.
If you feel like you should, if it makes you feel better about yourself - pray.
But Judy and I... well it doesn't do anything for us.
And it does not do anything for Natalee.

HI, I JUST WANTED TO SAY, that the people who are making this case a big deal are retards. PEOPLE go missing EVERY DAY! this family in my state was brudaly murdered months ago, no one knows what happened our who did it, and they didnt even get the same attention this girl is getting. Who ever said "boy cott aruba" is fucking stupid, u guys need to get a grip, this stuff happens all over the world, every day, non stop. how about we have 24 hour news couverage over the kids being traded as sex slaves in different parts of the country, or how about we focus on missing kids in our OWN country. Yea it sux that she missing, but she's not special, she's human just like everyone else, get a fucking grip. u people are pathetic, realy, i wish i could slap all of u.
Posted by: HI :) | Wednesday, June 22, 2005 at 10:57 PM
Are you seriously kidding me with that amazingly rediculous comment you just wrote? What you are saying is who cares when someone goes missing huh? What would happen if i were to say that I could care less about what happened to those people in your home town? The truth is this case is getting so much attention because it involves another country-get it? Can you see the bigger picture or are you to dense to get it? The world is a sick place, and people understand that, however it is people like you who make it worse. Natalee is someone's daughter and friend. What if this happend to you? Would you want us to say screw that, who cares about it. I don't think so. So for you to come on here and disrespect all those with caring hearts, her family and Natalee herself is just pathetic. It is great that you have your own oppinion, and luckily for you, you can speak that and not get hurt for that-that is America. And yes, Natalee is human-just like the rest of us, but there is one difference, she has no one to speak for her.
To all those with open hearts, and caring personalities, thank you. You people are what makes our Nation so great. Thank you for showing that you can open up and become involved in something so big.
To all those who think like the previous blog, I am sorry for you and hopefully someday you will learn what true compassion is and will have the ability to show it.

I Have been following this story closely, they should bring those three to the states for questioning and beat a confession outta them or tourture them till they tell the truth maybe a lie detector test, if they killed her they should rot in hell for what they did my prayers are with her family..

"Who does that"....thank you, that is totally true! and for those of you who don't believe in prayer..that is your purrogative but don't look down on those of us who do and have our thoughts with the family. It doesn't mean I don't think people who don't pray don't care, I'm sure you all do. And for the comment written by "Hi:)" If you don't give a shit about this case than why write anything at all about it, are you not calling yourself "pathetic" as well? The reason that everyone is so focused on it is because it happened in another country and happened very mysteriously....all your doing is disrespecting all who are involved!

Drama people... Calm down... If you know her personally, or the family then by all means get worked up, but if not calm down. Not everyone has your point of view. Some are ignorant / non-open minded that should be shot, but those types are all over. Deal with it!! Anyways my thoughts… I believe something horrible happened to her.
1. She's dead (buried or under water). I don't know how it happened except that she's dead.
Or
2. She's now a slave. Slave trade is major business. Happens all the time, and has been happening for thousands of years. If you don't believe that look it up. It’s called history!!! It’s very possible she was abducted and sold as a slave. Which if this is the case she will never be found.
At first I thought she ran away, but she would have turned up by now which leads me to believe she's dead or a slave. Both could easily happen. The Dutch kids know what happened or have a better idea then what they are telling everyone. If her body turns up she will be dead (chances are) and if she is never found then sadly she found her new life as a slave.
Posted by: Jolly Green | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 01:52 PM
Why the search have been so naive??? Why they looked for the body near the places where the suspects told police they were that night? If their versions didn't were consistant from the beginning it's obvious that there is something they know about Natalie's whereabouts. It's also abvious that their versions will mislead the search. Also the dutch guy's father is highly suspicious. In many ocassions the reporters heard him telling his son: dont' say anything, don't ever say anything...so he is acting like he knows something more...A week is enough to put a body in a hollowed barrel...remember the third suspect has access to a boat. Maybe she is in the depth of open sea...
I think that the suspects are determined to say nothing...because they dispose the body in open sea or a good spot. Remember that those guys were released for one week, plenty of time to hide, to plan a version that fits. But they made a mistake. Their original version is no longer the same...so investigators have to cracked them with FBI ways..
Natalie's mom should consider a psychic assistance. There are many good psychics that serves police and FBI when they need to solve a case. Nothing to loose.
To the one that thoinks that the two firs suspects were the ones...they were caught because of the lie of the other three. Remember that the first versions was that they dropped Natalie at the Holiday Inn and two security guards approach her...but that wasn't the case because the suspects changed the story...so the two first suspects doesn't have to do to the case. They are black and innocent...yes mrs. And the dutch is white and probably guilty...highly suspicious behavior at least.

I just want you people to know from an outsider from Canada. Who cares about all these assumptions and what people "THINK" happened. You all need to stop coming up with these possibilities.
If you think that something has happened to her, which it hopefully hasn't, don't post your theory on it. It really doesn't help the situation.
All that matters is the girl is found and healthy.
Posted by: Showcase | Thursday, June 23, 2005 at 04:17 PM
I will continue to pray that she is found healthy. I have been thinking about her and following the news every day hoping she turns up.
Since Aruba is such a basically crime free place, perhaps someone on the trip with her or someone else that was visiting had something to do with her dissappearance. Maybe the focus is too much on Arubans and not the passenger manifest lists of people that left the day she was supposed to or soon after. I hope they question her fellow travelers as well, they knew when she was supposed to leave and someone could have done something to her just before they were leaving the island. Wouldn't it be a person authorities would least suspect? The people they have in custody may very well know where she is, but then again, they may not and the perp may not even be on the basically low to no crime island! The criminal may have flown in and flew out. I agree with Natalie's mom, not enough investigating was done quick enough. Her traveling companions (friends?) claim they thought she was with the other group and the other group thought she was with that group; according to one spokes person, and that is why it wasn't known as soon as she was missing. I say check those traveling companions out and other visitor's criminal histories that left after her night of partying. I wouldn't rule that out as the trail gets colder and colder.

In response to not praying, I would say this:
1. To all those who do pray, continue to do so. Personally, I believe prayer plays a big role in how things turn out.
2. To those who do not pray, thank you for the support you do give. I think that by following the case and staying up to date is amazing. I think it is important to keep an open mind in something like this. It is so easy to think of this case in black or white, but by remaining open minded, you are showing so much compassion.
While we may never be able to help directly, we have to remember that everything does happen for a reason. It doesn't matter what we "think" happened to her. We have no facts to back those beliefs up. I think it is important to keep eachother educated on the facts, not on what could be.
So in response to what can we do to help, I suggest to do just that. Don't allow yourself to get worked up about what "could be" and keep everyone posted on what is going on right now in that case.
I adore all of you who are open minded and allow yourself to become involved in something so big. It is people like you who make this world a better place.

I Hope They Find Natalie Really Soon. Her Family Must Be Very Hurt That The Suspects Won't Even Confess Where Or What Happened To Natalie. I watch the news every day to hope they will find Natalie But I think They Are Very Close To Finding her.I pray Every Night That Natalie Will BE found alive and well. The Suspects Know What Happened So It's Up To them to tell Police What Happened to Natalie.

"What can we do to help?" I'm not sure if any of you are aware but there are those rubber bracelets (like the "Livestrong" yellow ones) that are being sold in baby blue that say "Hope for Natalee" a radio station in her town is selling them and the money goes to the costs of the search. They are $5, I know it's not a big donation but it helps, I personally have purchased 4 of them.
The Radio Station is WZZK.com and it's under the "events" section or do a google search for "Natalee Holloway Bracelets".
