Update:
police confirm the following have been found at the search scene: Women’s underwear
Condoms
Pieces of duct tape
Micky John declared yesterday that the two brothers confessed to him.
After leaving Arashi /Lighthouse, they left Natalee with Joran at Fisher's mans hut a beach close to the Hyatt. They went to swim at that beach.
That was the last time they saw Natalee. They went home and went to the internet to chat. After one hour, they received a message from Joran that stated: "I have something to tell you"
This was statement of Micky John, detainee, that helped to secure his freedom yesterday.

KayRay:
I did not accuse anyone of acting in a manner that I have no right to question. I did not question any person's, especially one who can obviously not defend themself, morals, integrity, or promiscuity. Were you there? Did you see her flirting or acting in a way that would lead someone to believe she was looking for more than innocent fun? Did she tell you that she was leaving with three guys to go to a secluded beach and give them some action? Did Don call her room to see if she was there the other nights of the trip, or did one of her roomates, whom he knows personally, tell him that she rarely slept there? My point is, to question the character of someone whom you do not know, have never met, and there are multiple reports of their upstanding morals, is not only in poor taste, but it is also cowardly.

KayRay, you claim to be an intelligent young woman. After backtracking about your post that most raped women were asking for it, you're wondering if Natalee is still alive.
Where, pray tell, would she be alive? Dumped in the pond, or buried in the bush?

I'm sure the panties were "fishy"!!

he was studdering and not making sense when asked questions. first the reporter asked him "did you find this evidence after the police have searched this area?" he said "yes." then the reporter repeated again "you DID find this after the police searched this area." he then said "i found this before the police got there; when i went to call the police and came out of the woods, they were already there." just a feeling i have...not good about this character!!

At this point I hope they just find this girl for her parents sake, dead or alive, those poor people have been down there for two weeks surrounded by rumor and innuendo, I feel so sorry for the family. They seem like a strong family though.

antoine & jay,
THANK YOU! AMEN! I'm glad the two of you have enough sense to not believe every little piece of "information" you've read about Natalee.
billy,
RE: "Rumor has it that is is common practice for locals to rape girls the night before their departure. They go back to the hotel humiliated and don't have much time to think things over and leave without saying a word to anyone."
Yes, I have recently read that as well from bloggers claiming to be from the Caribbean, that it is a common practice for some sleazy men to engage in for the very reasons you stated.
Posted by: pw | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 05:27 PM
why the hatred towards me? some of you are so thick headed, i WANT the girl found safely and hope if not that, the body is found so the family can have closure. this has been going on for too long now and i am sure is painful.
i never claimed to be a woman either.
i dont know where she is. i am speculating or know as much as the next person. i hope some how by the grace of god she is alive.

GET OVER IT PLEASE!!!! If you don't like all the bashing your getting then either think before you speak or don't spkeat at all.

Bullshark,
Thank you. Very eloquently stated.
Posted by: pw | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 05:31 PM
why doesn't anyone (the police) find out what time joran actually came in that night natalee disappeard! why don't they find out for sure if the two brothers got home at a different time than joran if they indeed dropped off joran and natalee at this area near the marriott! wouldn't that be simple task to figure out??
Posted by: Ria | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 05:33 PM
Ria,
I have a feeling the investigators know that information. As a matter of fact, I think they know ALOT that they are careful not to disclose to anyone who will run to the media. IMO, they appear to be keeping their cards close, hopefully to build a strong case against the perpetrator(s).
Let's pray that once they find Natalee, the Aruban authorities will address all of our questions.
Posted by: pw | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 05:37 PM
I thought i read somewhere that natalee's roommate on the trip didnt report her missing because during the 5 nights they were in aruba, natalee slept in her own bed only once, the first night they were in aruba. So the roommate naturally thought natalee was out on a booty call and didnt want to get natalee in trouble?
Wasnt there another story going around that Natalee slept with one of her friend's boyfriends on the 2nd night they were in aruba and there was some sort of arguement between natalee and some of the other girls on the trip after that because of what she had done?
Both of these stories, if true, seem to contradict the perception that has been set forth that Natalee was a shy and naive girl.
Posted by: Don | June 14, 2005 04:50 PM
Anita says,
Why not discussing this story. Seeking the solutions in their own group. How could they leave the hotel together without Nathaly, heading to the airport.
Something is missing here.

Arguing on the internet is like running in the Special Olypmics....
Even if you win, you're still retarted!
Leave this juvenile bantor to a different blog. All this arguing is making it hard to follow the story!

Seems to me the boys told police before. They were proberly checking out other 2 guys alibies first. The brothers only admitted what they had already told police last week when we heard about confession.
Posted by: Tanya | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 05:43 PM
I agree with Don and Anita,
this part is much too little explored. It is a great loss for such a girl, but how can a group with which you joined to come to party leave , suspecting that you were late. Did they themselves already have a bad image of you or is this common to these people. What happened is bad, but there are stille other questions besides the bad investigation of the authorities in Aruba
Posted by: prejud | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 05:47 PM
Even if she slutted around, we will never find out for sure. Who would release that kind of information at this point. If they put that out day one, 99.9% of the people reading this now, would not be reading this.
Posted by: Eric-bham | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 05:53 PM
Her group of friends was very concerned when she didn't show up for her flight. In fact, one of the chaperones stayed in Aruba, while the rest of the group returned. Don't forget, there were over a 100 students on that trip. People look for other explanations before they expect tragedy or foul play.
Posted by: livesatthebeach | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 05:53 PM
I think they will find the body, and after a long trial, nothing will happen to the boys, because no one knows what happened except for them, and they will say it was an accident. They will say she stopped breathing from drinking too much or something. And they got scared, blah blah blah. I don't think the police look like they really want to convict these boys. The police seem to only do something when they have to.

prejud, don, and anita,
You three are concerning yourselves with rumors and innuendo. Those things you mention were not disclosed from students on the trip or eye witnesses. Use your brains. It is unwise and unfair to vilify the victim. She is not here to defend herself from vicious rumors. No, she is quite likely dead, and here you are perpetuating rumors about her character. Shame on you!
Posted by: pw | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 05:57 PM
is it a "bad" investigation, or is it that the arubian authorities are not leaking all of their leads to the media???? I am frustrated by the lack of information (as I am sure many of us are), but I think in some ways it is better than the way our (meaning the american authorities/media) handle a case. They seem to be protecting the intrgrity of the case (o the best of their ability) to get to the bottom of this. It seems that everyone is has tried and convicted the 3 boys without knowing any of the clear facts. I am not saying I am not guilty of the same, but there are many unaswered questions that I hope we will have answers to soon. But the outcome looks grim and the poor girls actions should not be on trial as well. I pray to g-d we find answers and people learn from this exoerience.

ANita, I spoke to a friend of Natalee's, who was on the trip recently and she said that they were aware she was missing before the plane trip, but thought she was staying with another friend. The group was fairly large, and it would be easy for someone to stay over at another persons room talking or even sleeping and her roommates would assume this.
Posted by: DT | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 05:59 PM
The police got there as as result of a "tip?" To this reader, a "tip" is very different from someone allegedly walking in an area, finding something and bringing it to the attention of the PD. Whew, the crap reporting is ceaseless.
BTW, I have serious doubts about this "find." I agree with the poster who was skeptical when she saw the interview with the "finder."

DAN,
We miss you. Have any more reliable info for us?
Posted by: pw | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:00 PM
I feel they will call it an accidental death and the boys hid the body. They will be charged but not sure of the punishment.
Posted by: Tanya | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:00 PM
I am encouraged by the drainage colvert they are pumping but I am not encouraged by the tape, condoms, or panties. I doubt he'd have the foresite to bring tape and I also doubt her waist was that big. Honestly, she's a cute girl, she was out clubbing, she wouldn't be wearing the period panties as was shown. Condoms, I bet there are 5,000,000 condoms (a slight estimate hehe) around various parts of Birmingham Alabama that I personally have thrown out.

Who is Simon Alveraz?
Did Joran put Natalee on a fishing boat bound for Venezuela?

I hope they find her in Aruba!!
Posted by: Curio | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:05 PM
I would be surprised if they find the body in a shallow pond. Common sense says that she is either burried or in the ocean...
Posted by: marty | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:06 PM
First it was gaffer tape; now it's electrical tape. Geese. Well, gaffer tape is used by the electrical and other departments in the motion picture business (a gaffer is an electrician) but to the vast majority of viewers, electrical tape is the common and inexpensive black 1" tape. Nothing like misleading the public!
Posted by: jay | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:06 PM
Still, I would not leave my friend, my best friend behind, they dont have to worry about the leaving plane.
How many best friend did she have during the trip.
What will happen if indeed these convicted boys are innocent. How will all the media ask for sorry!
I just hope that Nathaly is alive and doing well. God help her.
Posted by: Anita | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:08 PM
Anita,
The boys incriminated themselves. They made up stories. Why would they lie unless they were trying to hide something?
An eyewitness, a friend of Natalee's on the trip, said Natalee never intended to go with the boys. She was walking to join a group of her friends reutrning to the hotel when she disappeared. The eyewitness friend stated Natalee was not drunk. No one ever said Natalee went with the three boys willingly.
As someone previously stated, it is a practice in some Carribbean locales to rape women on their last night on the island. Chances are, the women will be too humiliated to go to authorities or follow up on charges. PERHAPS Natalee was a victim of such a ploy.
Posted by: pw | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:15 PM
anybody hear anything new regarding the "search?"
Posted by: Ria | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:16 PM
Bama - you're right, they will not extradites to the US because of the existence of death penalty.
I think they can make an exception if both countries agree on extradition, however there would be no reason for it in this case because the suspects are not americans and the crime didn't took place in the US either.
Posted by: sus | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:19 PM
Wow.
Victim blaming knows no bounds. Nothing like reporting random rumors that portray a dead girl as having 'asked for it' by her behavior, and why not throw in a couple more random rumors that she she had all kinds of other bad tendencies.
The only evidence that Natalee was extremely drunk or ever even kissed any of these three comes from them, the same three who are in jail on suspicion of her murder! Okay.
We don't even know if she went with them willingly, let alone if she expected anything beyond a ride to her hotel.
Wow again on most women who get raped fit a certain 'profile' either this person is flunking all her classes or isnt' exactly what she claimed.
What is so hard about showing a little respect for the grieving family of an 18 year old girl with everything to look forward to in life who is in all probability dead in a pond on Aruba.

Anyone know how big the pond is that they are draining?
Posted by: Curious | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:22 PM
LetsHelp - the description of the personality of Joran was also based on rumours. No one complained about that.
Posted by: sus | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:25 PM
Joran's not the victim, sus - he's a suspect.
Posted by: Getagrip | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:26 PM
Sus, are you a personal friend of Joran? Just wondering, because I've seen you defend him frequently on other blogs.
Posted by: pw | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:28 PM
How long should it take to drain a pond? Anyone know?
Posted by: D | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:28 PM
Anita, Your rumors and attempts to slander the victim are cruel and are no excuse for Joran's behavior. It is extremely common for kids on a trip so campout in each other's rooms for the night. These are not booty calls. This is what happens when kids stay up as long as possible and get up as early as they can to enjoy every minute of their vacation.
IMO, It is more likely that Joran slipped her GHB and tricked her into the car instead of the taxi she thought she was getting into. Maybe she threw up and got angry, maybe she threatened to tell. But Joran felt threatened and decided to kill her. He pulled his friends into his crime and they pointed fingers at the security guards.
It's likely the guard told one of the brother's that Joran would blame them when the guards proved their innocence so the brothers better start talking now.

Scared Monkey has confirmed that press is being/has been removed from the area of the search. I believe much of the update on Scared Monkey at the moment is being reported from an American guest on the 8th floor of the Marriott. MSM and CNN is now reporting the same information regarding the pumping of pond water, almost an hour after Scared Monkey had it on their blog
Posted by: Mel | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:31 PM
I disagree.
Joran's web sites give a pretty fair account of what his intereests were.
I can only imagine the blame if Natalee had several sites where she had photos of her conquests, many shots of herself drinking, herself holding another person on a leash and the many references to drugs.
But what we know of Natalee is that she was a straight A student with a pre med scholarship, not a soccer scholarship, a reputation as an over achiever and very meticulous person.
Using Joran's own web sites to draw a picture of him is very different from reporting some rumor that some anonymous person posts on a web site.
Posted by: LetsHelp | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:32 PM
Suspect yeah, not convicted but apparently that doesn't matter to some of you. I think innocent until proven guilty could be taken more serious.
And no, i'm not a personal friend of his.
Posted by: sus | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:32 PM
D -
It depends on how much water there is. If there is a lot of water then a long time. If there is not a lot of water, then not very long.
Hope that helps.
Posted by: RCL | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:32 PM
Sus, my description of the personality of jordan is derived from visitng four of his websites, seeing his comments, his pictures, and his friends' comments to him. He knows what happened to Natalee.
Posted by: Ben | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:33 PM
Are you a personal friend of Nathaly? Just wondering, because You all are inclusive the media are accusing the three boys and asking for extradicting to the USA for the death penalty.....Let us wait and watch the evidence.
(Even Micheal is freed by the judge).

We want to know how big the pond is. We get the rest - with all due respect.
Posted by: Curious | Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at 06:34 PM
lol thanks RCL.
Also figure someone could calculate it, if they knew the depth of the pond (reported to be 4-6 feet deep), as well as the circumference (if round), and the gpm of the siphon pump, but I was looking for some sort of reasonable guess from someone that might know.
"Small" pond on beach--an hour? 12 hours? 2 days?
Likely too much unknown for even that kind of guess, but I've been surprised at how much info people have sometimes.
