Joran v d Sloot and the Plate Glass Window

While there is currently no evidence to suggest that Joran v d Sloot threw a boy through a plate glass window, as some news reports have claimed, a reliable source has confirmed an incident on January 23 of this year which may have led to the rumor.

In one of what might be a pattern of confrontations with visiting American teenagers - which will be addressed in a post tomorrow night, on the day in question Joran v d Sloot is said to have gotten into a fight with an 18 year old male American over possible advances toward a female. The male and female Americans were said to be visiting the island together.

At some point in the confrontation, Joran, much larger than the tourist, was reported to have thrown him against the plate glass window of a local Dunkin Donuts, however the window did not break.

The police were called to deal with the incident, however no arrests were made and no official report was filed.

In addition to the hand to hand confrontation, one employee of the Dunkin Donouts has claimed that they heard Joran v d Sloot threaten the American tourist with a knife he claimed to be carrying.

I agree with the above, the mother was trying to cover for Natalee's reputation. Who cares what she did, and I think she went with Joran and had consentual sex, big deal. The other kids have not been forthcoming with information, and they packed her bags in the morning because they thought she was spending the night with Joran and would be showing up to the hotel late. The mother seemed very certian she was kidnapped, why? The whole family is odd, their repsonses odd given the situation. If anything hurt this investigation it is the mothers taking control and demanding that Joran had Natalee, and not letting the truth out.

Well I agree that the other kids on the trip are not being totally honest with the public, not only to protect Natalee's reputation but their own. But they don't have to answer to "the public" They have to answer to themselves and hopefully they did tell the FBI the truth about what they saw or know. I am sure what they told the FBI is being kept confidential.

I've been to Aruba. Been on the beach where Natalee visited and walked it for many miles. I've spent a day on the Octopus and I enjoyed amazing snorkeling. It's a fantastic island. One mystery, doesn't take anything away from Aruba, but it does say a lot about most of you.

Frankly, I wish all Americans would boycott Aruba. Then Aruba would have the same vacation appeal that I enjoy when I vacation in Cuba.

I really can't tell. We don't have enough pictures. One thing I've noticed in most of the shots of Natalee is that she seems significantly taller than many of her friends, even though she's reported as being only 5'4". When dealing with amateur photos we also have to be careful that the angles are not distorting the image, like when you take your own picture and have an arm about 20ft long.

Pictures are an interesting subject. Where are all the pictures from the trip? Surely there must be more than just the one "official" photo, and I've heard pictures were taken at CnCs of Natalee dancing with various people, including Joran.

Have you seen any other pictures anywhere?

Rstj, You pose an interesting question. It does seem strange, very strange, indeed that not one single photo has immerged of any of the 130+ participants on the trip. Other posters have clarified that the mother confiscated them all. At first, they said the FBI. However, doesn't it seem a bit two-faced to demand all the info from the Aruban officials and then not be willing to give out any information from this end. What is the mother trying to protect? Does she fear that her daughter's behavior on the trip may not have been as virginal as she claims? It doesn't matter, her behavior is not the cause of her misfortune. But, really, I think the American side of this tragedy should be as open as they demand that the Aruban side be. Plus, I believe that Joran is a total jerk. But I think his behavior is bad enough without any embellishments. FOXNews has broadcast some things (such as this rumored, but not reported to be not-true sex tape) about Joran that were not true. Yet, they keep everything quiet about Natalee. I could see how the Arubans could feel just a little upset about that.

Dear Arubans,

In America we as people have been given the right to criticize. Criticism has been a means whereby
we "try" to correct ourselves, our government, and anything that needs correcting. Criticism creates a
forum to address a problem.

We as Americans also believe "you are innocence until proven guilty" As far as I am concerned
all detainees are innocence until proven otherwise. There have been too many situations where first
impressions have been proven wrong after the facts are in. I do not condemn Aruba or the detainees
but I reserve my right to criticize methods and circumstances of the investigations.

I hope Arubans understand not all Americans think alike. I have never been to Aruba but after viewing
the beauty of the Island and comments made by many visitors to the Island I would definitely consider
a vacation to your island.

Do not over react to the "Ugly American" -- remember do not wrestle with a pig, you'll just get dirty and
the pig enjoys it.

They have shown pictures from the trip on Fox news. In fact I am almost certain that Natalee's mother said the pictures came from a disposable camera she found in Natalee's room. They are the two pictures with a group of girls standing on the beach. Think that is what she actually had own when she went missing.

I am confident that the kids have spoken to the authorities and the family. It is the press that I was referring to. They do not have any obligation to speak to the press and do not have to satisfy our curiosity. In fact the only reliable info that we have about that night has come from the MB kids. That is the only information. As to looking like they are being coached, there was only one person who appeared that way and she may have just not been used to being interviewed on national tv-I would probably be the same way.

True - the answers are not rehearsed. The FBI asked the students to not discuss certain events because the investigation is ongoing. The students were instructed to speak about Natalee only.

Also, these students are well educated - not your typical teen flippant attitudes. That is why so many people are confused by their confident attitudes - this community is educated for success - they are not lying or covering up. Most are not accustomed to such well adjusted individuals.

Before some of you fly off the handle - please remember I'm referring to the community as a whole and Natalee's closest friends. Of course there are a few students that do not fit this description.

The pictures being posted were from the camera found in Natalee's room. She didn't take her camera to C&C's that night. That may be the only pictures available to Beth Holloway. No one may have taken a camera there that night. I understand that C&C takes their own pictures and post them on the internet. Maybe you will find what you are looking for. Also the friends were on TV right from the beginning but were in my eyes mistreated by the American press. One girl was criticized for smiling too much and the press seem to give the idea it was the friends fault for letting her get in the car with Joran and brothers. I remember one news person saying they would have never let that happen to thier friend. I don't blame them from not doing interviews with the press. They have been interviewed by the FBI and I am sure they were honest with them.

A long time tour agent and friend was connected to Aruba.She told me that the 'bank there launders a ton of drug money' and that they use legitmate people to do it.
They seek out tour agents as well as 'officials'(like judges,etc.),etc.
She was approached, but quickly refused as she is a quality person.
Her contacts there 'all accepted' to her dismay and have made 'lots of money' for helping to deposit funds for the creepy scum bag "drug merchants" as they wish to be called.
Many in the gov.there are involved with money laundering and 'related financial activities.'

IF......that is a big IF....Joran was such a great person (?).....friend(?)....escort to a visiting tourist....then why would he just leave her on the beach? Why didn't he stay with her until she got over her drunk state, drugged state,

THOUSANDS have gone searching for Natalee. The government gave its workers the day off to go look for her. That has NEVER been done in the US.
