Joran v d Sloot and the Plate Glass Window

While there is currently no evidence to suggest that Joran v d Sloot threw a boy through a plate glass window, as some news reports have claimed, a reliable source has confirmed an incident on January 23 of this year which may have led to the rumor.

In one of what might be a pattern of confrontations with visiting American teenagers - which will be addressed in a post tomorrow night, on the day in question Joran v d Sloot is said to have gotten into a fight with an 18 year old male American over possible advances toward a female. The male and female Americans were said to be visiting the island together.

At some point in the confrontation, Joran, much larger than the tourist, was reported to have thrown him against the plate glass window of a local Dunkin Donuts, however the window did not break.

The police were called to deal with the incident, however no arrests were made and no official report was filed.

In addition to the hand to hand confrontation, one employee of the Dunkin Donouts has claimed that they heard Joran v d Sloot threaten the American tourist with a knife he claimed to be carrying.

It's amazing how we are always so quick to villify a SUSPECT. Similarly a tourist 'claimed' that one of the security guards had 'harrassed' her - just to seemingly add to thier possible guilt.

I am sure there are people on the ground there being paid as informants visitng all the crack houses just to see and hear anything of interest.

I am glad to finally see some better information on this incident for it does seem part of a pattern when added to Joren's mother sending him to anger management treatment and admitting he "kicked his brothers." Those who prey on tourists often boast of doing so on the last night of the tourist's trip so that they awaken dazed and confused with a flight to catch, still woozy from drugs and or booze and will not bother trying to sort out what happened.

Date rape drugs are so effective because they create memory loss for that time period and the victim cannot remember what happened enabling the perpetrator to act with impunity. That's the whole idea.

But LE has bungled this case so that all evidence has pretty well been lost by now. I cannot explain why they allowed the prime and only suspects ten full days to cover their trails. It will just about take a miracle now to find any evidence at all. It is well known that Natalee was in the car of Deepak but it was so scrubbed by the time DNA was sampled it did not contain ANY forensic evidence of her having being there, nada. And they were seen cleaning it at 2 am in the morning, odd time to wash car.

Well, if a cover up was what the authorities in Aruba were trying for, they seem to have succeeded. I just hope they realize the long-term ramifications of all this.

One thing that really is bothersome is the way the parents of the girl have tried to control information, It seems that no one who was on the trip is talking, at the request of the parents.

Also, even if you believe that the Aruban authorities are incompetent, the FBI has also been involved for most of the investigation. I doubt the FBI would be participating in cover-up.
The FBI probably has better gadgets than the equisearch people which makes me think they have searched the island pretty well.

Karl, while I lean towards a huge coverup a lot, I also hope I am wrong and that the Aruba PD, etc. know a lot more and have a lot more than we know but I worry that is just not the case.

My thought with the Holloways not talking and the AL teens not talking is that they have been told not to. Maybe the Holloways even have some info that we do not know about. You note that even Beth Holloway has never said anything specific about any details of the case in any way, shape or form, just that these three are involved, etc., etc. I think they have all been warned as was on here days ago and confirmed from people in Aruba that if any big detail on evidence, etc. is leaked, any possible case can be dismissed based on their law and neither the Holloways nor the AL teens would want to jeopardize the chance of justice for Natalee. Just a thought I have had many times over in the last few days. Anyone else thought that at all? What blog did you have this from? That's always been a vague topic--whether Natalee had a boyfriend or not. One aunt said no, but she had one previously. Didn't know if he was on the trip or not. Then someone ref'd a People Magazine article (that I haven't read) that said yes, he was on the trip, and his name is Sean McVea. Google him up and you get a guy from MBH involved in track.

You are probably right that the police in Aruba are not talking to maintain the integrity of their case, everything I have heard indicates that if the police leak info, the entire case can be thrown out.

I read somewhere that the parents were hiring an attorney to get more info from the Aruban government, I get the impression Aruban criminal law is very different than the US. It also seems that aruban law is much less suspect friendly, none of these guys would be in jail in the US. I guess that is part of the reason that I don't think that the suspects are being coddled by the Aruban authorities.

The MB kids and the press. Much has been made of the lack of their appearances and the fact that they seemed "reserved"when interviewed. If you know the MB crowd, this does not seem out of the ordinary at all. While it has become the norm for people to strive to be interviewed in a tragedy for that moment of fame notwithstanding the somber situation, such behavior would not be considered appropriate in MB. First of all it just would not be cool and secondly the MB's would consider speaking out too much under the circumstances to be akin to gossipping abou a situation. These are not the type of folks who seek publicity for their moment of fame. I also suspect that the family would prefer that discussions with this group not take away from the investigation. Also, the parents of these kids are not likely to be pleased when they hear some of these details of the partying. As to the interviews themselves, these kids are probably trying to be certain that they do not say something that gives rise to more of the unfortunate rumors that are circling out there. Based on the wild speculation that has been posted on these blogs (mostly by Arubans and friends of Joran), it does not take much for people to take off on some wild tangent of slandering.
In fact, one of the MB boys is being interviewed on local tv as we speak. Joran had been around the group all week and some of them thought that he was another tourist. This young man played black jack with Joran and said Joran was very friendly to everyone-not just the girls. He also indicated that Natalee was mainly hanging out with her MB friends at C & C's and was dancing with them. It was not like she was hanging out exclusively with Van der sloot. The report repeated that Natalee had met him that night but that info did not seem to come from this guy-I don't think that he commented on when she met Joran. He just made the point that he had hung with the group for about a week.

Something hit me square in the face last night and it was not my two year old's dirty diaper. How at 3AM in the morning with alcohol and maybe drugs in his/their systems, with little rest can 1 to 3 18 to 20 year olds get rid of a body and edvidence so cleaning that there is nothing to find at all. I saw a poster had written that the Dutch governtment is getting more involved because of the attack they see on the integrity of the Dutch government (who seem to comprise most of the top officials bungling this case.) While at first it may makes sense for the family to ask the kids to not talk...now four weeks later she(Beth) needss to round them all up and beg for info. Someone in that group has to know more than what has been reported. The AL kids probably have family lawyers advising them to tell everything they know. The FBI has been to AL asking questions. I think these kids are devastated by what has happened and have lost a great classmate. Probably someone lost their college roommate too. These families are keeping quiet and dealing with this whole thing the best they can. You see Beth, the mother, she's trying to be so strong-the mothers of these classmates are probably advising their kids to keep quiet out of respect for Beth and Natalie's family, she does have a younger brother, there w/out his mom and dad. How do you know this? They ALL are hurt and scared or is/are there one or two that know a secret? We do not know because none of them have been interview by the FBI. This should have happen the day she went missing. Not saying of them are guilty of anything but how do you know if they have not been interviewed. Most murders are done by people who the victim knows. There are story lines that seems possible, the prom date other guy friends or girls that know something anything. Think about this from the start, murder takes place the morning before 124 "friends" get on a plane and leave the crime scene. None of them are suspect because of this tight group from a small town. Well, sorry but Fox news is worrying me with some of their reporting. There is reporting going on, Geraldo, O'Riely, etc that appears nothing to back up some of the statements. It is astonishing to notice, thinking I will be more skeptical with all their reporting from now on.
