Joran v d Sloot: A Contrast In Character

Following up on a story by Steve Huff of The Dark Side, and having reviewed certain records, including text and images, which cannot be made public as they involve minors not implicated in this case, it does seem apparent that 17 year old high school senior Joran v d Sloot walked a strange and wide line between man and boy.

At the same time the 6'4" school athlete was said to be a proficient gambler frequenting the clubs and casinos in Aruba, he was also known to have had a romantic involvement with a 7th grade girl of thirteen until her parents learned of the relationship and made their daughter break off the relationship back in March.

While the Holloway family will find peace, arubans will look over their shoulders in perpetuity. God have pity on Aruba, because no one else does. ON the other topic of Joran dating a younger girl...my daughter was 13 in 9th grade and is now a senior at 16. I would certainly have done just as the other parents apparently did and stopped the "dating" at that age, even though she was in 9th grade.

There is a matter of too much experience versus too little that would have concerned me... He would have had too much as compared to a 13 yr old's too little....know what I mean??

Anyways your nugget of info adds to the emerging picture of Joran Van der Sloot. Did you hear what Natalie Holloway's mother said on Greta tonite about Joran's reaction when she accosted him after landing in Aruba on the night of May 30th? If i remember correctly, her description of Joran's reaction to her was one of arrogance and total nonchalance.
Hopefully the Arubian authorities get to the bottom of the matter now.

For the record, Joran's dating the girl is not rumor, and I gave Dan the necessary proof to support it. I will not publish links, an unobscured photo of the girl, or anything like that though for the exact reasons Dan stated -- the girl was a minor and Joran was a player, posting that he was looking for "physical/fling" on one of his profiles. Guys like him use women, and who better to use than a girl still in junior high? Whether her parents were more frosted about Joran being white or not is irrelevant to me; she was way too freaking young, for Aruba, the Netherlands, or the U.S. To me it indicates a slipping point on a slippery slope this boy was already on. When I was 17 and 18 a guy in my peer group dating a 7th grader would have been a pariah, and rightfully so. Additionally, Joran will turn 18, if I remember his birthdate correctly, in July. Therefore, he's been 17 all year. No, when the guy is 25 and the girl is 21 or 22 no one cares -- but I think this was different. The girl I saw still looked like a child, to me, and I'd bet Dan would agree.

I cannot believe the amount of hatred that is brought out when things happen. This is a sad story for everybody involved. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Nobody knows what Joran is like. He is being judged by photos of him partying just like half the other teens in the world. Let's let the system do it's job and stop with all this anti-Aruba and Anti-America stuff. There are families who are suffering right now and hopefully answers will be given soon. I am not taking the side of Joran or anybody else but I do think that people are really quick to make assumptions about people based on rumors or the words of others who may or may not be biased. American laws are not the laws of the world so lets have some respect for the way others manage their legal system and hope that there will be justice for all in the end. hey now I come from a Dutch background, that is hardly a fair stereotype, certainly most Dutch Canadians I know are decent hardworking friendly folk

I will say this, from my interaction with my cousins who live in the Netherlands, they have a different sense of humour, or it's the language barrier, but we would consider them weird but then maybe they consider us weird,

and frankly we used to think our younger Dutch cousins were really naive and unworldly but then they are live in rural areas not big cities...

I mean we took our one cousin to a Chinese buffet in Canada, when she was 18, and she was overwhelmed, she was generally overwhelmed by Canada, and even many years later she is still very attached to the hip of her parents.....perhaps that is because she is an only child......
