A reader, Mike, sends along (link removed, not the same individual) to an Amazon.com book review by Steve Croes. It is not confirmed that this is the same individual as was arrested today.

I think they sold her - I've been saying this since it started. I spoke with a woman from Venezuela and she said it happens from all places. Men meet women - even in the states - take them "home" to Venez. and they never come back...

Perhaps Joran is innocent of what? I think Joran called this friend for help in getting rid of Natalee. How do you think Natalee went from the "safe" arms of Joran to the unsafe arms of this man?

It is being reported that JVDS called Croes at 6:30 AM (cell phone records).

I think the investigators know exactly what happend and are now building a case. Natalee's mother seems to have a quiet calm confidence about her. If she was sold it would only behoove JVDS to tell all he knows before kidnapping charges turn into murder charges.

He's not innocent, for Christ's sake. If he were innocent, he would have had no reason to be part of a fabricated story; what is more, the only reason for him not to be more forthcoming (and we can reasonably conclude that he hasn't been, since this is taking so long) is that to do so would implicate himself.

All he had to do was make sure this girl got to her hotel, the way any honorable person would do. Innocent my ass!!

"Innocent until proven guilty" is a legal designation only. It is a consideration jurors are supposed to maintain until they hear all the evidence.

A truly guilty person is guilty the moment he commits the crime. He is only legally "innocent until proven guilty." We can look at facts now and draw a conclusion based on those facts and then go on to find more facts. We all do that every day in making decisions.

Here we know JVDS & Kalpoes lied to cover up a crime, not an accident -- to cover guilt, not innocence.

We don't know if JVDS had a car somewhere near where he was dropped off. But we do know 2 cars were towed from his house. These are facts, evidence. The lies are evidence. They are also crimes. False statements to police and hindering an investigation. There must be a bigger crime to cover up that caused them to risk certain conviction on these lessor ones.

They might be lying to cover up an accident. That is the point, we don't know. Now in some places, once you start lying to cover up an accident, that can become a crime. I don't know about Aruba.

Interesting about the boat. I had wondered if maybe there might have been a boat trip. I got to thinking that hearing somebody on TV talk about the currents, how if you wanted anything to disappear in the sea, you would have to go out several hundred yards.

I can believe anyone actually thinks she's been sold as some "sex slave." That's the most insane notion.

I think she and Joran were drinking and doing drugs, probably having sex, and she overdosed. He panicked and needed help getting rid of the body, so he called some friends.

Rumors here in Birmingham are that she was trying to buy drugs on the island (obviously not hard to do). If she got some cocaine, maybe trying it for the first time, it's possible it could have caused a heart attack or some similar fatal reaction.

That theory is a whole lot more plausible than her being "sold." If that happens so much, then there would be a whole lot more media attention to it. It's just one big internet urban legend, I think. And if it happens at all, it's poor, third world kids who get sucked into it -- not rich American kids. They don't need that kind of trouble.

The prostitute website advertises legal 18-21 year olds with clean STD tests, not 3rd world kids. Beautiful blonds etc can be ordered, s & m, ganbangs, whatever you want. It is legal in Aruba. Advertised and condoned by the government which helps keep the crime rate down.

Then one day on the island appeard a nice young lady called natalee who per coincidence liked reading books on emergencys uncovered on her last night out poor steve a writer of books. Steve panicked that is true indentity would be uncovered and that he was not the cool disc jockey he claimed to be but a writer of books on emergencies . So steve offered her a large sum of money enough to start a new life unoticed to say nothing about the whole ordeal. So she went on her last night out with the sun of the judge and 2 brothers, the karpoe brothers" who provided security to dig up a large sum with money hidden near the light house . Then she hid in a cave for a while before being flown out to another country with an helicopter with an infared camera to an other country .....................................

You wouldn't lie to cover an acident if you did nothing wrong. But JVDS is not rvealing any facts that would clear him if there was an an innocent accident.

A body would show more evidence, facts - so why not bring it out to show an accident. A coverup is because the truth will show more guilt.

Do you really think that what looks like 5 or 6 people would be involved in covering up a drug overdose from something she took voluntarily?

Why not just leave her on the beach or drop her off at the hospital?

Hide her body and lie about it for 18 days?

This feels just like another "Story" to cover what really happened to her and of course, to make it clear that it was all her fault.

Yes, BhamRes, your theory is quite plausible.

But it is not entirely impossible, either, that she was sold...I'm not saying this is what I think happened, it's just another possibility some of us are throwing out there. But if it IS what happened, then there is still a chance Natalee is alive, and there is still a chance she may come home. For Natalee, and for her family, I still hold out hope the case may be resolved this way.

Without going into too much detail, my personal opinion is that JVDS was a little boy wanting to live in a big boys world (always effecting gansta style). He was an amature and got busted.

Akekoa it is possible. They are young kids and depending on what happened, I mean suppose they were doing stuff that maybe they are not supposed to be doing, and in whatever way, there is an accident. An older person might have the presence of mind even if they were drinking etc to say whoa! and go and tell the authorities right away, and confess to taking drugs, if they were, or being too aggressive with the girl, if they were, but young kids are more likely to just lose it and not even think about how whatever crime they would confess would be so much less than what they would be suspected of if they did not go report what happened.

if he did write the book review on amazon, could the am cell call have been related to medical help for natalee? maybe they roughed her up, or gave her too much of a drug, or maybe she just fell and got hurt and they panicked, and called the only person they could trust for medical help. who knows!

Island Hopper, most folks feel like they have more sense when they are older than they did when they were nearly adults and young adults.

I dont know that there was an accident of any kind. I am just saying that if there was, I would not assume that these boys would run straight to the police to report it, especially if they were drunk or high. By now, depending on how the law in Aruba goes, even if there was an accident, not reporting it and lying about it will not help them avoid consequences anyway.
