Wow....

Steve can write some pretty DARK, but powerful words. I agree with his theory.....it is very realistic. Very well written...but creepy, almost like he somehow knows what happened. Maybe he is very intuitive.

Aside from the article, the photo of JVS is a little sick. Makes me wonder "more" if he has issues. What kind of straight guys "tweak" each others nipples, especially being photographed?

Is this something normal that most guys do today?

First of all Dan - thank you for such amazing coverage. You are always up to date..and I am always finding myself on this site long before a larger news provider like CNN. Great work! ;)

I have been dying to post some questions and theories about this whole case on here. Here I go!

1.) If Joran, Satish, Deepak, Steven Croes, and the judge are in jail for the 116 days and are not charged and let go, can they be arrested again if they find a body or evidence after the 116 days? Or is it double jeopardy?

2.) Where was Mrs. VDS the night of May 30th? And what is Mr. VDS's alibi?

3.) If Natalee is in say, Venezuela in the sex trade by the off chance, will anyone ever find her? I don't think Aruban authorities can investigate in another country, can they?

If anyone can answer my questions, that would be AWESOME! Keep up the good reporting Dan!

Double Jeopardy? It's worse than that. If tried and found innocent, the government can appeal and try them again ... like most liberal systems which purport to favor individual rights ... in the end the government always has the upper hand.

The Mrs was in Holland - the mister doesn't have one .... and don't bet your life on the sex trade theme. IMO of course! : )

Sometimes I think I do know what happened, but then again, just as often, I think I'm full of crap, too. I just kept thinking, as the father of two (still very small) sons, how would it feel? I think PvdS has lived a basically decent life until that night. Therein lies the sweating, the wringing of the hands... a man who believes he is fundamentally honest wrestling mightily with a gigantic inner conflict.

The only claim I have to being intuitive, RBLChristine, is when I described the BTK Strangler as being a late 50s early 60s neat freak with a combover, mustache, and glasses, wearing a tan jacket with epaulets, several months before 59-year-old neat freak Dennis Rader was arrested, wearing a combover, mustache, and a tan uniform shirt with epaulets. I've been a little too spooked to go crazy with the speculations since then.

I hope you only had that one time intuitive response (BTK), but.....

Your theory is entirely logical and realistic as for what happened to Natalee. It was very eerie. From your words, I could picture the events. You wrote them as if you saw what happened. Perhaps it's because I've had the same thoughts and reading about it only made it more real for me.

I'm hoping we are both wrong.....

The story looks logical. The only hole I see, is how did they manage to erase forensic evidence. This is very hard to do. Did they get a boat right on the same spot at the beach where this happened? Even so, there should be evidence on the boat, some hair, something.

I agreed with Steve's theory until recently. Now, I am not sure if PVDS would let his son go out gambling and drinking the night after he was with Natalee on the beach if he had just participated in a cover-up. When Natalee's family confronted PVDS at his home, he said Joran was not home and was probably at a casino. Her family demanded to know where she was (rightly so), was aggressive in their questioning, and I think PVDS responded aggressively and went into legal mode telling his son not to talk. Maybe after the encounter with the family, Joran came clean with his Dad re: drugging Natalee with something like ectasy (provided by Steve Croes) and "something bad happened." That is when the cover up began. Still does not explain where Natalee is. I agree the Kalpoe brothers probably had nothing to do with Natalee's disappearance but they knew what Joran was planning to do with Natalee and ultimately what happened.

I am not convinced that Joran was actually out when the Twittys arrived that night - I think perhaps Papa VDS said he was not there - supposedly sending the Twittys on a wild goose chase up to the casino - because he was not at the casino then they came back and he was home - just my gut feeling. This in no way speculates on anyones innocense or guilt just what I feel. Has anyone actually said Joran had been in the casino that next night? Also if you listen to a very good defense lawyer Cordoza - (spell?) he says that Paul VDS was acting as a good defense lawyer would in saying Do not talk - in addition I got the feeling when he said not to talk at school he was saying that for 2 reasons - one the teacher had asked Anita that her son stop talking about it and also he was at the very least being a jumb jerk talking about this at school and papa wanted Joran to show respect for his school and the Holloways by shutting up. As far as not talking to the police - just good defense lawyering!

Can anyone confirm that one of the Kalpoe's is being released today? Heard this elsewhere. Could it be that to release one brother puts enough stress on the other that he finally talks?? Can anyone else confirm that one Kalpoe is being released today? Am told they have nothing more for him and he free to go???

Why would daddy VDS let his son out the next night gambling? A girl missing and its okay to do out the next night? No. Daddy VDS was coverig for the son. This is a case of rape and something gone bad. Authorities have their man (men). Tying up loose ends and we will have answers this weekend. Especially, if true that one Kalpoe is being released. The other will sing and the whole thing comes down like a house of cards.

I'd bet my life savings, that Joran WAS home, On his father's orders!...the first nite that the Twitty's knocked on thier door... and that Paul-VDS did fake that phone call and sent the Twitty's on a wild goose chase to the casino to give he and his son a few minutes to absorb the fact that "UH OH....the family of the missing girl is HERE on the Island, and they found us this fast!!"

Daddy DID help cover it all up to save his OWN rep.... because once the "damage" was done by Joran, it was a no brainer to the Judge that his own SON himself had just blown his families entire lifestyle, and any chance his father had at a Judge-ship.

I fully believe that the only reason these 3 boys detained haven't come fully clean is because there WAS a date-rape drug involved... that at least TWO of them had sex with Natalee..... explaining why the two brothers may be at this point covering for each other more than for Joran.... and continue to be silent?

But I do believe that Daddy-Dearest was the one to clean up the mess. My hunch is that He found Natalee on the beach....possibly in a coma, and he asked Joran right away... "WHAT the hell did you give her?" ....found out from WHO, and then he called Steve Croes on Jorans cell phone.... Possibly to give the guy a heads up that "I know you provided the drugs..... I can send you to the slammer for so long..."

Then, the judge may have taken her and Joran to the house first to try to revive her.....
(That may explain why the authorities impounded both of Paul VDS' cars....he was suspected of being the one who picked up Joran on the beach at 3 am and they wanted to find out if there was any evidence that Natalee might have been in either of Mr. VDS' cars.)

The thing that really scares me about this whole thing is that they may never ever find her body. I'm sure she died that night now though.

And...one more thing....

I do not know what is the law in the Dutch criminal justice system, but in the United States there would be no Double Jeopardy issue in this situation. The protection does not attach until the jury is empaneled. Thus, police could arrest a suspect, release him due to lack of evidence, then arrest him again. It's just that they couldn't bring someone to try, swear in the jury, then dismiss the jury and trial until they collect more evidence. This is why there are such strong protections for speedy trial and requiring warrants for arrest. I would imagine that the law is similar in the Netherlands, since it appears that they have less, rather than more, protection for criminal defendants.
