Just had a communication from Aruba - search dogs have gotten a "hit" in quarry near the Van der Sloot house, dive team being rounded up.
As posted yesterday, today's grids covered areas more accessible for the boy(s) working on a tight timeline.
I'm told there will be a press conferece at 1PM. Also, dogs said to not false alarm for non-human remains. Appears find is in very deep water of quarry, quarry was once drained and a corpse suspected to have been there for approximately ten years was discovered at that time.
Correction - quarry was low as result of drought when previous remains were discoverd. It was not drained.

If it's true like somoene said above that NH's smell was detected in the quarry, then even if her body is not found there, it would be helpful if any of her items were found there (such as person or clothing). It's possible that her bdoy may be burried in sea or elsewhere but her personal belongings were dumped in this pond close to VDS's house (dumping any thing left belonging to her).

A few days ago an interview was done by a pond that had an overturned truck and other garbage in it. It was also mentioned that there was a smell emanating from the pond. That particular pond where the interview was held IS NOT the pond where the hit was made this morning.

This is all phony. This website is a joke.

Amazing, there is hardly anything on TV and in the newspapers about this case in the Netherlands right now.

Troy,
You're right...bye bye.
Posted by: Gale | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 02:45 PM
someone stated earlier that this "pond" had been searched, so...
1. they missed what was there or...
2. how perfect a place to dispose of something afterwards, hmmm

Gale - we will se soon if this is made up.
Posted by: Troy | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 02:47 PM
If the quarry was searched before,it was not searched with the same equipment the TX search team has. I say Hail to the Texan serch team... bring this girl home.
Posted by: Gale | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 02:48 PM
Troy,
You're right, we will find out if this is true. If you have the time, scroll back about 10,000 post and see just how accurate Dan is with his info. The MSM should be so good.
Posted by: Gale | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 02:51 PM
Oke, somebody we don't know off, killed Nat, later puts her body in the pond near vdS' house to frame Joran?
Posted by: Vander F | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 02:51 PM
obviously not them.... the Texas team just recently arrived and started searching
Posted by: Awryit | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 02:51 PM
Gale - Who is Dan? This is the first time I've been here.
Posted by: Troy | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 03:05 PM
If it's your first time, Troy, then can the attitude.
Posted by: sheba | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 03:08 PM
The Texas team arrived over the weekend as her parents were watching them offload the equiptment onto a boat. This case is pure bungling by the Keystone Cops of Aruba. I am furious over the way they are handling this case. They questioned the suspects together which is beyond my reasoning. The FBI should have been allowed to take over. I understand it being Aruba and all but Natalee is a U.S. citizen and we should have some say in this. God Bless her parents in this ordeal. I would not have been so calm.
Posted by: Bonnie | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 03:17 PM
I don't have an attitude. I'm trying to understand how Dan has so much info?
Posted by: Troy | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 03:17 PM
Just wondering since dad waved his rights, if he told them what he was told or knew, and it involved or lead to this search. Would they have released him?

Thank you so much for this board and keeping timely on details. Natalee's dad lives in my town as well as her stepsister is one of my students. I do pray for some kind of closure soon.

Was it you bamamom who said they should inquire for girls who got raped on their last night in aruba. I think that would be a great idea. Cause this all looks like joran lives a totally differant life than his mom described in her interview. Last night i heard them say the bartenders could be paid to put rupies in the drinks. Who knows whats real anymore about this. The what goes on at carlos and charles on scared monkeys. Or political teen cant remember what was enlightening. is there anything official yet on this story?
Posted by: max | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 04:36 PM
PLEASE DON'T FEED THE TROLLS.....
In regards to the pond, the dogs could be picking up on the scent of Natalee as they moved/carried her towards the pond. The scent would be picked up all of the way to water's edge. Not sure about "in" the water.
To my knowlege Aruba does not have the trained divers that Equusearch and our FBI has. As it has not been a high crime area (not including drugs, etc)they do not yet have all the toold necessary for these type of massive searches.
Posted by: Mel | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 05:02 PM
don't any of you work...my god, I was forced to stay away all day....what's new?
Posted by: stephanie | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 06:42 PM
did they find the body?
Posted by: Terry | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 07:04 PM
Ditto Terry...did they find a body..or anything?
nothing about the quarry search on MSM tonight.
Posted by: Bonnie | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 07:34 PM
I thought our media was bad with giving out too much information or misinformation constantly. Now, it seems harder to be dealing with a country that doesn't give out any information.
Posted by: Janey | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 07:45 PM
Hello....does anybody know what is going on?? I have checked all the news stations on the net and nothing has been posted about the quarry...was it just a false alarm? Why isn't there any answer one way or the other??
Posted by: Terry | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 08:13 PM
First of all our judges arnot appointed in Holland. On like in The USA you would have to follow the RIO (Rechter in Opleiding) it's kind of e course and if i'm not miss taken it takes about 4 years. In witch you'll have to follow in the Netherlands, Aruba and the Netherland Antillies...and yes....Aruba is independent .

The leader of the equisearch team just said on fox that the dogs showed interest in that quarry earlier today and he was still not sure yet if it was clear. So apparently they still are searching or plan to continue searching that quarry
Posted by: max | Monday, June 27, 2005 at 10:49 PM
Just for you Troy I watched it until i was thinking the same thing. Then at the very last before he concluded his interview the equisearch team leader said the dogs had showed interest at a quarry and he was still not sure that, that area was clear yet. So Oh im just reposting what I already did. Looks like he knows more than you think he does. More than they are even willing to say in the media.

I believe Joran is guilty and the two others are co-conspirators in the whole situation. I believe that they should of all been pressured and interrogated separatley and made to tell the real truth. I believe they are all guilty.
Posted by: Burbs | Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 03:45 AM
I belive was slipped a date rape drunk. I believe that they raped her over and over, and she was not coherient in the situation. And all Natalie wanted was to get a safe ride back to her hotel. I think the boys are responsible for her whereabouts and know just what has happened to her. I am a repeatedly yearly visitor to Aruba and I am ashamed of this whole situation, and it changes my feelings on the safety and beauty of the Island of Aruba. Something needs to be done to Carlos and Charlies establishment and they need in the future to make it a more secure establishment for young people to come and leave and have a safe time. Also, I would hope to think that the bartenders are not part of being paid to slip drugs into recipients drinks. And if they are they should also be punished and pay for the crime that has been commited against this young lady, and so in the future this does not ever happen and to never ever again be an issue to come about.

NO further comments from troy hum seems he should accknoledge his mistake. I hope they continue this search today and find natalee. Sad to wish for a body. It seems like giving up hope but thats the way it looks at this point from all I see. The Natalees mom and dad were pleading for help from the u. s. to speak to the dutch to get more help to find her. They just want to go home. I think if any of us can exert any pressure anywhere in political places we should do so.
Posted by: max | Tuesday, June 28, 2005 at 09:46 AM
I just hope they find this young lady.

Dear all,
Let me first of all express my deepest feelings of sympathy with all the relatives, friends, fellow countryman and fellow world citizens of Natalee who are concerned about the fate of Natalee. I share their grief and hope that this nightmare will come to an end very soon.
And although the fate of Natalee should be, and is (also in my mind) priority number one, I see it as my duty to correct some of the comments on this forum which are based on false or incomplete information.
First of all I read a lot of comments in which the writers criticized the stance of the Aruban and Dutch officials. Let me stress that the Aruban government is an independent government within the Kingdom of The Netherlands, and that I have NO indication whatsoever that they are not doing everything in their power to solve this case. Of course they do not have the best equipped police force in the world, and that is the reason why they asked/allowed help from the Dutch and US government. This is a very brave step from their side which proves that they want the best for Natalee. As a law student I have seen many cases in which state governments in the US did not allow their neighboring state colleagues to participate in certain search missions, even while their colleagues had a better record of finding missing people! So if states within a federation do not allow collegues to help them, it is a very big step that a sovereign nations allows other nations police forces on their soil! This is a fact which should be taken into consideration before judging the efforts of the Aruban government!
On this same issue a lot of Americans (including Bonnie) said that the FBI should take over this investigation. A very understandable opinion seen all the emotions but totally inappropriate and not helpful. What would the American people think when a foreign police force would take over an investigation in the US because the people of that nations feel that their police force is superior?!? Such an arrogant attitude towards the Aruban government shows a lack of respect for other (than American) institutions and people and will not be constructive at all. That is also the reason why the Dutch government has been very careful with sending extra soldiers and special police forces to Aruba, it would be an arrogant and colonial reaction if the Dutch would send more people without the request of Aruba. Therefore “ more pressure on The Netherlands” as suggested by Max, is not useful at all. It would only harm the very strong relationship between The USA and The Netherlands. And before people are going to say that that is not important to them, let me tell them that the US has their biggest trade surplus with The Netherlands, and that The Netherlands therefore is of great importance to the US.
That the Dutch legal system is different from the US system is a result of historical differences between the two nations, and does not make one of the systems inferior to the other. All the criticism towards the procedures of the Dutch legal system show a lack of empathy and respect for other than US systems, and I therefore will keep combating these criticisms as I will do with criticisms on the US legal system after the OJ and Jackson cases.
Also the reactions of Tide roller, are understandable from his position, but if he had taken more time to check the facts before judging he would have learned that the position of Aruba within the Kingdom is one they preferred!! And his remark that “ The Dutch are sending criminals to be judges” proves that he has a very narrow minded view on the reality. First of all the principal of “innocent until proven otherwise” makes that this man is not (yet) a criminal. And furthermore if you draw the conclusion that criminals are made judges in The Netherlands based on this case it shows that you have lost track of reality. Do you want the figures of (former) US judges in prison??? And do you feel that the US is making criminals into judges?? I don't.
The last thing I want to comment on is the media coverage of this tragedy. Some people said that Dutch media had no respect. I have quite some experience with the Dutch media and I can not believe that they have less respect than US media, but since I wasn’t there I can not deny nor confirm this. And neither can the other people on this forum. It disturbs me that some people on this forum judge and condemn in the strongest possible words based on poor fact knowledge and vague rumors or impressions given by politically colored media. Let me stress that I do NOT say that the US media or other media can’t be trusted. But a person who has enough self-respect and believes in his own intellect should check and even double check rumors and media coverage before condemning something. I have been watching the FOX coverage of this tragedy and have heard quit a lot (provable) mistakes and changes of reality. Call it coincidence or not but in appr. 90% of these cases they made false and incorrect comments which damaged the reputation of the Aruban and Dutch officials. I am not suggesting that they did that on purpose and I am fully aware of the fact that a 24 hour news channel which is covering a news story a few hours in a row can make mistakes, but I call upon everyone to check facts before judging and not believe everything the media is telling you. None of us has a clear view on what is being done in this case by whom and where so please be careful with condemning any of the involved countries.
To conclude, I would like to (once more) express my hopes for an end to this nightmare. And I also hope that the discussion concerning this case will be continued with more respect for other nations, a more constructive discussion and with less condemning.

Lets assume that everyone is telling the truth. That would mean that the Kalpoe brothers dropped Nat and Joran off....joran had to leave Natalee...she either went with him or stayed on the beach or he called his dad to help him because Natalee was passed out (or watever)....we know at this point she wouldn't go willingly that far away because she has to leave for home in few hours.....soooo at this point where did Natalee go? If Joran did phone that he was home...maybe he did go home and his dad took care of Natalee...that's why the dad says "son don't worry if no body no case against you"....was it dad that got rid of Natalee? Sold her? Shipped her? They shouldve found her body by now if she was out to sea. Don't ya think?

You must remember he met a girl, its not a date , its of free choice. he did not drive and pick her up at her hotel. he did not give her flowers. , so a dude met a girl . she said or he said got to go . its not his duty to take her to her hotel. she found her way pretty well without him, he was not dating her.
