Aruba: Decapitation Story Confirmed

A reliable source on the island of Aruba has confirmed reports of a recent murder / decapitation, and also confirmed reports of another murder currently under investigation in Aruba. A third report regarding a possible new missing person report filed today has not been confirmed at this time.

Additionally, sources close to the Natalee Holloway investigation have indicated to me that there appear to be serious problems developing in establishing a consistent time lime of events surrounding Natalee's disappearance. Problems stem from conflicts among stories by those being questioned, a growing list which now includes  Father of Joran v d Sloot, Paulus v d Sloot.

It's possible that the time line as presented by the elder vd Sloot does not fit with other knowable facts in the case, resulting in his having been brought back for additional questioning.

Additionally, from other contacts who are known to be observing the Natalee Holloway investigation very closely on the ground in Aruba, there is growing concern that some of the lack of clarity in the troubling case could be the result of an attempt to minimize the impact of this tragic case on the tourism industry of Aruba.

While differences do exist between the system of justice in Aruba and a watchful America, many Americans are coming to feel more and more dissatisfied from an apparent lack of accountability to the public by Aruban authorities.

Developing, hope to have more tomorrow.

Update: An initial report suggests the decapitation may have had something to do with drug trafficking as some say the head was actually sent back to Columbia. That is unconfirmed.

In light of the way that this thing has been handled from the begining, I don't think that there is any doubt that the Aruban authorities are in damage control mode. However, that being said, now that the entire world is following this situation very closely, I would tend to think that they are now fully focused on making sure that they have a solid case backed by solid evidence on whomever they have identified as the perpetrators of this crime. Can you imagine how much more damage to their economy would be done if they charged one of the three suspects and for some reason, their case wasnt strong enough to convict? That kind of situation would make "Freedom Fries" look like a joke in comparison to the boycott of that America would unofficially impose. Just my two cents...

Isn't it interesting, and pathetic. After ALL the investigation and days of questioning and "contradictions" reported by the judge --- Now the intense questioning comes back to JVDS father who was the first of the VDS family to be approached the night of Natalee's disappearance?

Thanks for the confirmation on the decapitated/perhaps mutilated man. I couldn't find a darn bit of info on that situation today. I must ask though, what does this have to do with Natalee? Please share your thoughts on why you think this is related.....

Also, Cyril Wecht was on the Fox special last night too. Any idea why they abruptly cut him off? He had some intelligent answers/ideas concerning Nat. He was in the middle of discussing what probably happened....then he was cut off!

Most people probably don't know who Cyril Wecht is, so that is why this issue probably hasn't come up yet. I thought you may have met him while at FOX or have info on his credentials.

Thanks for the newest reports and as usual keep up the great work. I have to agree with both what ATL and Akeko say above-obviously it seems that the major investigative snafus occurred in the first few days and hence the need to interview PVDS for 7 hours over the last two days. I would have to say that the Aruba LE are unimaginably incompetent if they are trying to do more coverup now. Perhaps they are trying hard on the inside now but being extremely defensive outside primarily because of "image" issues-not that much is left now.
Anyways do you have any knowledge of whether Steven Croes is gonna be remanded for 8 more days tomorrow or is there a chance that he will be released tomorrow?
I briefly heard at the end of FOX News Big story that the younger kaploe is in prison but that JVDS and the elder Kaploe (Deepak?) are still in the jail being "intensively interrrogated" separately? Any info on this?
And as Akeko asked above, anything on that FOX NEWS report of last night about the El Diario reporter chasing some suspect cars and links to natalee's disappearance? Sounded pretty far fetched but who knows?

I didn't put it in the story but yes, Joran and Deepak were questioned intensively today. No word on Croes - that gets determined by a judge. I can't be sure, but this thing may explode this week because the stories are getting further and further apart and suspects saod to be dissembling. AT least one person has used the word liar toward the older v d Sloot, but I can't say that I know how legitimate that is. There is a lot of emotion around this case and Aruban authorities are growing more leary of and angry with American media.

Look for a National Enquireer story this week - no idea of what will be in it. But the guy doing it was playing it very close to the vest.

Just saw a reporter on Fox she was with a Current Affair, she stated she inquired about the beheading and any other recent crimes and the Public Affairs Officer told her he wasn't going to give her any information. She then jokingly said to the guy filling in for Geraldo that maybe she needed to "lawyer up" so she could get some info from the local gov't.

I think there was an attempt at a cover up initially but I don't think the gov realized how much media pressure would be brought on. I am now thinking(or hoping) that they are in a hurry to solve this case. Not solving this case would really hurt their economy...I do believe they were going to try to cover it up in the beginning..hence, the slow developments up front..it sure seems like the pace is picking up with their tourist dollars on the line!

I heard one reporter on Fox say that the head decapitation sounded like a cult thing..she even named the cult. Sounded almost like a common occurence. So does this mean Aruba doesn't have crime other than cult deaths? Does this not count as "crime" to them? Maybe they only consider tourist crimes as the kind of crimes to report. I do agree though that the Aruba Tourist Industy via the government is trying to keep a pretty picture for their country.

Aside from that.....what you just described/questioned appears to be typical Aruba law.

The moral of the story is....check out the laws in any country you plan to visit. Aruba should not be at the top of your list of places to see. Unfortunately, we are finding this out the hard way......

This is absolutely not true!!
The head was not shipped to Colombia, as police found it still barely attached to the body...
But there are strong suspicions that it is drug related...

I know the drives to ignore dangers, warnings and want to just have fun. I've seen the predators, ran from them myself. I have a daughter, Natalie, who got involved at 18 with similar problems. Fortunately she is still around somewhere today. But her tradgedies have kept her from "growing up" and she is stuck at "using men" for what she can.

But I do not think NH is quite like this. It just touches my more because of the similarities.

I think we should boycott ARUBA anyway on the grounds of ignorance! This has been ARUBA GATE in the making from the very start. The government needs to read the book "HOW TO RUN A COUNTRY FOR DUMMIES" I believe the whole government is corrupt. I think they are all tied into a drug ring. I do not think we can believe anything these now ARROGANT investigators say anymore. This has all become one big cover up. I would not be surprised if the father of Joran is a middle man in a big drug operation. He has contacts. I do not think for one minute that the decapitated man was ,(is ) a coincident. PLEEZZZZ. The father probably had this guy get rid of Natalee to cover up whatever his son had done to her. Then he had him killed so he would not talk. Maybe he did not trust him with money floating around for information leading to Natalee's whereabouts and got rid of him before he could talk. Natallee could very well be in a hospital on another island.
After what one of the guests on Fox said last night about Natalee's parents in such an ugly manner (referring to the polygraph tests need to be given to her family) I have no respect for the government in ARUBA at all now. They are all a bunch of criminals as far as I am concerned. They too are scum and slime as Natalee's stepfather said of Joran's father. I am sure that he said that out of anger for Natalee but I see him being "right on". I think the parents now have had enough.

And just one question; during the O'Reilly show some teenagers that went on the trip, confirmed that they lied that the FBI told them not to talk, but it was Holloway's family who requested that. Do we know any reason for that decision?

The murder was of because of vengeance (no beheading though, the guy worked at the prison as a guard) and the missing guy, came back home.

Regarding the boycott against Aruba, Officials estimate an increase in Tourism during June and July (low season) and hotels are reported 85% occupancy up to now.

European tourism also sees an increase due to constant devaluation of the dollar compared to the Euro.

What I could interpret from the different newspapers (my papiamento is not that perfect), it was two guys E.M.(American 19 yo) and N.P.(Aruban 23 yo) that were drunk and when they came to the bar, they started shooting at a parked car and entered the bar like nothing happened. They were arrested moments later.

On that island, if you are caught with a fire-arm or even part of it, you will be sentenced to jail time.

Dan, I think you should put your sources for these confirmations, or more information.

As far as a cover up NOW, I don't know how they could think about that. The best resolution they could hope for now would be to catch and convict whoever is reponsible, (or bring Natalee back alive). There's nothing else that is going to help Aruba's tourist industry. If this isn't resolved successfully then that will only hurt tourism and they know that.

About the "Fox reporter" that said that the decapitation was linked to a "cult" called Santeria. She was actually supposed to be an FBI profiler although you'd have thought she could afford a better wig if that was true. I don't know everything about Santeria, but I did once interview a practioner for a magazine. I could be wrong but I doubted her theory that the killing was connected to a "cult called Santeria." She looked like an adrenaline junkie. Again, I not expert but I regarded this with skepticism.
