The White House said the agreement was a positive development.
This is strange in view of the White House claiming to not want any kind of an agreement that denied an up or down vote on all nominees over the weekend.
While this could obviously be a face saving move, another interpretation would be that the White House is prepared to elevate two of the three covered under the agreement to the Supreme Court in the event the anticipated two openings during Bush's tenure arise.
You can bet Dems don't want Brown anywhere near the top court and it might be hard for them to filibuster her after this. But, and it is a significant but, the complicity of the MSM has always prevented the Dems from being afraid of hypocrisy. They're too rarely called on it.
