I'm reaching a burn out or begin to rage tipping point as regards reading conservative media in general, and quite a few blogs, in particular.
Thinking back upon the election, something I believed and also heard echoed in many places continues to resonate with me. The Dems would ultimately lose because all they could do was attack, attempt to smear, or tear down. On the other hand, the Bush campaign expressed a vision, articulated an agenda and stood "for" something, not just against an opposing point of view.
I won't speculate now on how true or not that was down in the trenches of a hard fought political campaign. But there certainly was and is an element of truth to the general concept.
So, now that "we've" won, why is it that so much of my usual Internet browsing looks more and more like I'm reading the words of losers, as opposed to the words of the side that won?.
I understand that Howard Dean is an idiot, that the New York Times loves Hillary Clinton, and that elements within the MSM select the quotes and sources they know and want to use to tell a particular story in a certain way. I knew it before I started reading rightist views on the Internet and, in any event, I have now read enough of it and more to not need constant reminding.
What might now be hardest to figure out from reading many of the usual suspects, is what the hell we stood for when we won the damned election in the first place. And it certainly isn't only the conservative media, including blogs. It's beginning to look that way in Washington to me, too - at least within the legislature.
Eventually one really does have to start to wonder if Republicans, and conservatives in general aren't so comfortable being on the outside yelling in - that they are in danger of losing the opportunity to lead in the country on anything but a temporary basis. I feel like I'm watching my favorite football team with the ball, yet lacking the players and the strategy to significantly advance it.
I've always thought whining and complaining was mostly for losers. Reading around, I can't help but wonder what that makes us.

So should we NOT be complaining about Congress dropping the ball? Unclear thesis.

Think of it this way - what good does simply complaining about it do. Whatever side people were on, blogs organized and pushed for momentum on Schiavo, Rather, Eason Jordan, etc. In the case you mention, okay, I see the complaining - but where are the calls for action? What you point out doesn't alter the thesis of complaining versus working for a forward moving agenda.
