The Hypocrisy Of Liberalism

Ward Churchill Teams with MEChA

Remember MEChA from the California recall days? They are the group advocating for taking Southern US territory and forming a new country called Aztlan for Hispanics. Flash forward to Ward Churchill. Yeah that guy. Now MEChA is sponsoring a Ward Churchill appearance at California State University - Monterey Bay this Monday.

The hypocrisy here for MEChA is revealed through a deeper reading of their own web site. Some may recall when a CSU professor named Dan Forsyth was accused of making statements against illegal immigrants. It seems MEChA's position then was that he should be immediately fired, even without a hearing and despite of his tenure.

Some faculty and students at Colorado State University-Pueblo are demanding the immediate ouster of a professor under investigation for allegedly making defamatory statements during a class. Anthropology professor Dan Forsyth allegedly launched into a tirade against illegal immigrants March 3, calling Mexicans lazy and contending they don't deserve to be in the United States.

The student group MEChA - the Spanish acronym for the Chicano Student Movement of Aztlan - is calling for Forsyth's termination. "We have been told the investigation may drag on, but we feel there is more than enough evidence for his immediate removal from campus or his termination as early as next week," said Tomas Martinez Ortega, vice president of the student group.

Still, Martinez Ortega said he's been told Forsyth, a professor at the school since 1983, will be protected by his tenure. Professor David Sandoval, whose office is three doors from Forsyth's, said he asked university officials to suspend Forsyth while the investigation is under way. "I don't like him," Sandoval said. "I haven't liked him, but I have defended his right to say things I thought were terrible, but in the appropriate setting."

Unfortunately, I'm not surprised when Churchill calls the innocent dead of 9/11 little Eichmann's he is protected and held up as a positive symbol by the Left - but let someone simply be accused of politically incorrect speech and the Left says they should be immediately silenced and tossed away. Clearly there is no principle at work here - only an agenda.

And then there's this, which MEChA touts with a headline on their web site:

CHULA VISTA – A college newspaper opinion piece calling for a crackdown on illegal immigrants has critics calling it a racist incitement to violence.

Campus journalists, many of whom disagree with the piece politically, say they stand by First Amendment rights to publish unpopular opinions. Reaction to the commentary has been strident.

Protesters posted abusive fliers on the door of the newspaper's office. The writer of the opinion piece and the newspaper's faculty adviser said they have been threatened or harassed.

Students For Community Action, a campus socialist group, and MEChA, a campus Chicano group, have called for a retraction and apology from the Sun for publishing the commentary.

"We feel he crossed the line," said MEChA co-chairwoman Gaby Arenivas. "He's attacking a group of people that can't come and tell him, 'No, don't do this.' "

History displays the Left's passion for silencing critics and even the Press when it disagrees with them. These examples of the present only serve as proof that nothing has changed. This excerpted below sums MEChA up pretty well.

The founding document for MEChA, the Latino/Chicano student group, called for the re-conquest of the Southwest United States for the “Bronze people” through armed resistance against the United States government.

By aligning himself with MEChA Churchill is showing his true colors and proving that what he stands for has nothing to do with free speech or opinion, and everything to do with literally, as well as rhetorically tearing down the United States.

LOL by the way - watch your mail, I need to send you something.

Well, I'm glad Ward is discovering his Hispanic roots, not that his Injun roots have run dry, so to speak. I can't wait till he's black
